As the year comes to an end, an abnormal cold snap has taken over Tendaji. The mountains of Zena are covered in a blizzard, and even the desert of Oba is feeling a bit of an abnormal chill.
[ What do you get up to during the cold? Do you find a place to warm up, or check up on a friend? ]

The air was significantly colder than when he had laid down the night before. Shivering under his normally warm cloak, Draven opened his eyes to catch the sight of his own breath as he breathed. Shivering, he rolled onto his side and covered his head, he should have been used to the cold, he had been in Zena for a while. But this was sudden, this wasn't the gradual chill, this was the drastic change that caused havoc. Reaching out, he forgot that he was sharing his tent with another, he grasped for his blanket to see if that would help, only to rest his hand on another warm body. Sitting up, the cloak falling into his lap before he wrapped himself again.
"I don't like this." Draven muttered as he shivered, "Aldara, I hope you packed some warm clothing in those packs of yours." He looked down towards the still sleeping woman, noting that she too shivered now and again against the cold.
Slipping out of the tent, Draven looked around to find Regale standing very close to where the fire had been. The hulking beast shivered in his own right, grunting Regale looked at Draven, who wasn't sure if he wanted food but knew he would have to don the winter gear. "Let me get the fire started and I will get your blanket out." Draven patted Regale before gathering materials to start a fire and hope to warm things up a bit.

Why was it suddenly so cold?!? Aldara shivered beneath the blanket she had borrowed from Draven the night before. Curling up in a ball she was vaguely aware that Draven was also waking up. She heard his moving, but didn't want to move herself. That is until she felt his hand on her side, her eyes snapped open. She flinched a little before he moved away, muttering something about warm clothing.... She didn't have any of that!
"I am so screwed." Aldara whispered to herself as she rolled over as Draven had exited the tent, the moving flaps allowed more cold air to enter. "I hope we can find a town or something to get warm clothing... I never thought what it would be like in Zena... Never really thought about the cold."
As she sat up, wrapping the blanket around her shoulders, Aldara crawled over towards the flaps of the tent and peered out. While it didn't look cold outside, the air told a different story. Watching her breath for a moment she looked out at Draven who was trying to get a fire started. Soran trotted up to her making some very unhappy sounds. Seems that he hated the cold too.
"We'll find you something as well to stay warm with. If it is this cold here, I would hate to see Zena." She shivered as she exited the tent, blanket wrapped around herself very tightly. "I hope we can get somewhere warmer, for the beasts sake at the very least." Aldara shivered as she watched Draven get the fire started.

Draven looked up as he heard the tent flap rustle and noted Aldara coming up wrapped up in the blanket. She wasn't as used to things as he was, even this had caught him off guard. Still, he was getting used to the cold quickly as it seemed that Aldara wasn't. "I get this fire going, we can warm up a bit better." Draven said as he struck his steel against flint.
Sparks finally caught against the tinder in the small firepit. He added more to the tinder until the campfire was a blaze. He watched as Aldara the Scorra and Regale moved closer. He retrieved Regale's warm blanket from his packs and tossed it over the Janarim's back. After securing the warm blanket to Regale he turned back to the fire to add more wood to it. "A warm place would be great, even a cave would work as well. Somewhere where we can hold in the heat until the weather warms back up or we're able to move comfortably." Draven stretched his hands out over the flames to warm them before he stood to break down camp.
"We should also get moving soon. The movement will keep the beasts warmer." He voice still shook a little from the shivering, but he had to do something and this was what he could think of.

The warmth from the fire was a relief to her as Soran laid down beside her trying to also get beneath the blanket. His feathers were as fluffed out as they could get and it was clear that this sudden cold was effecting even him. Aldara watched as Draven covered Regale in a blanket that seemed large enough for a beast of his size. At least most of them were warm. She said little as she watched Draven take down the tent and start packing up everything back into the saddlebags they had come from.
"Moving does sound like a good idea, I just don't know how far I can go. I am not exactly used to this bit of sudden cold.. Not without having four solid walls a roof and blazing fire in a fireplace." She thought of home and how her family were doing with all this. She was sure her parents were used to these sorts of weather changes. The other Scorra would be within their barn, nice and warm. Her parents in the house, probably sipping tea or cocoa.
"I wanna go home." Aldara said in a bit of a whimper. Then she shook her head scowling to herself. "No, I have to see this out. I have to find the Chiavi no matter what."
Standing abruptly, Soran scrambled to his own feet as it seemed that Aldara was ready to move on. The motion nearly made the blanket fall from her shoulders, the sudden burst of cold through the fabric made her pull it tight once more. "Do you think Zena will be like this too?"

As he was packing up the tent, Draven looked over towards Aldara whom seemed to be having an internal struggle. He shook his head as he rolled the tent inside the mat he slept on. Securing it to the back of the saddle while packing a few of the other items back into the saddle bags he looked at Regale.
"Zena is going to be worse than this. It is cold nearly all year long. There are some moderate days, but cold is a thing there. Cold and snow." Draven explained as he hefted the saddle up to place on Regale's back. He dared not remove the blanket as of now. If they find a place that is better sheltered he may just to not over heat the Janarim. "Come on, lets get moving. The sun should be up soon..." Draven looked towards the skies to see it covered in clouds. That didn't exactly bode well. The sun would rise, but not shine down unless the clouds parted ways.
"We'll have to ride together, wrapping the blanket around the both of us to share the warmth." His back was to Aldara so he didn't see the color flooding to her face.

"We have to WHAT?!" Aldara exclaimed as Draven mentioned sharing the warmth as they rode together.
Her face turned beet red at the thought. Did they really have to do that? Surely she could just walk beside Regale and be just as warm? A breeze drifted through the camp, the cold bit into her skin even through the blanket making her shiver even more. Fine! It would make sense, for this situation. "Can we do something to keep Soran warm too? Or do you think his feathers will be enough?" She worried about her companion that had been with her since she was younger.
The scorra looked towards Aldara, its feathers making it look very fluffy. Reaching out she wrapped what blanket she could over his feathers to try and warm him up a bit. There was also the answer to her question. Zena would be worse than this... Lovely, she would have to try and find something in the next town to cloth herself and Soran. Perhaps some leg warmers for the Scorra and something around its neck? For herself she would need a new outfit, perhaps a few of them?
"Going to need a little bit bigger saddle bags too... Think you can handle that?" She asked the Scorra whom gave a peeping sound that might have been an answer, or it was because he was feeling a little warmer, she certainly was against his feathers.

"If you have any other ideas you're welcome to share." Draven said a little too tartly, perhaps it was because of the cold and how he wanted to press on. "We can hopefully find something when we reach the next town."
Making sure that his things were secure, Draven started kicking dirt over the fire to douse the flames. He wished he had some water to help, but the large pile of dirt should be good, yes? Afterwards he pulled himself onto Regale's back and held out his hand to Aldara once more.
"Thankfully it hasn't started snowing here. If its this cold, anything that starts falling with either become ice or snow. And I can tell you that I would rather it be snow." He had an experience with ice and he didn't want another one. "We can also talk as we go."

Aldara was taken aback when Draven spoke, it was a tone she hadn't heard from anyone besides her father and that was when he was cross with someone. Had she done something to make him cross? This wasn't going exactly how she would have liked, well... None of this was going well. She wanted to run into Draven again when she started out on this journey, but not when the cold came all of a sudden. Perhaps it was the weather, yeah, that was it. The weather was enough to make anyone grumpy.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and let it go. She had to think carefully on the next things she wanted to ask him. She didn't want to risk hurting him, or herself at this rate. She also didn't want to be left stranded here in the cold without any idea on how to do anything! "Sorry, I don't have any other ideas and it feels like its getting colder out here." She admitted as she moved closer.
Taking Draven's hand she let herself be pulled up into the saddle the blanket was removed for a moment before it was wrapped around them both. It was a lot warmer as she leaned back against him, his arms wrapped around her so she wouldn't fall off. She felt Regale starting to move, Soran following at their side..
"Have you ever fallen in love with anyone before?" Aldara asked as she seemed to melt into their shared warmth, or was it something else?

Draven pulled Aldara up into the saddle before him, he took the blanket from around her to wrap it around them both. He looped the ends to keep the heat in as he grasped ahold the reigns and nudge Regale into movement. The Janarim grunted, shaking his head before turning in the direction that he was directed to. Draven noted the Scorra that followed on nimble legs, he wondered how fast it really was.
Glancing down, he held onto Aldara tightly as this cold was affecting her worse than it was him. He had lived in Zena for a few months before things happened and he found himself on the opposite side of Tendaji. Though the words that he heard from her as she seemed to drift off into slumber puzzled him. Had he ever fallen in love? He didn't think so.
"I haven't stayed in one place too long to even think of falling in love with someone." He admitted, "But I am sure that if I were to find someone." Though he wasn't too sure of what he would look for?
He had feeling that he didn't understand nor did he have anyone to talk to about them. Feeling that made him... He wasn't sure, they were things he never felt before. Was it love? Growing affection towards someone? He wasn't sure. Perhaps even a protectiveness? Possessiveness? There were too many words that could fit the feeling, but it was only something he felt around Aldara..
"What about you? Have you fallen for someone?" He looked back towards the road, not wanting to know the answer. Perhaps he did want to know? Everything was getting jumbled.

Aldara shifted a little so she could stare up at Draven's face. He was looking at her as he spoke before he looked away. There were conflicting emotions that ran through his dark blue eyes. Emotions that even she might have been feeling. That sense of security she felt when she was with him, like no one dared try anything when he was around. Her own thoughts were interrupted as he spoke of never having fallen in love.
"There is always someone out there for everyone." She nodded looking towards the road. They were moving quickly. Soran was keeping up, apparently thrilled with the light run it was doing. "Me? Perhaps I have. He is taller than I am with dark blue almost black hair. His eyes are the deepest of blue, they remind me of pictures of the ocean." She continued to avoid his gaze that she could feel was back on her. "We ran into each other a while ago. I was in the forest alone, too young maybe to have these feelings. But they were something that had stuck with me."
With this admission to her feelings, she covered her face with her hands. She didn't know if he felt the same or she was just making a fool of herself. Or it was just the cold making things this awkward... Yea it was the cold that made her face hot and to say things out loud. She just couldn't help it...

Draven stiffened a little as Aldara seemed to describe him, perhaps there was someone else? He didn't know her that much, only that where ever he went they bumped into each other one way or another. Thinking back on it, their lives seemed fated to entangle the moment the bumped into each other in those woods. Though she was a few years younger than he was. Four or five he gathered, it wasn't too big of an age gap right? These things worried him and he, again, knew no one that he could talk to about these things. He hadn't seen his adoptive mother since before the Dretch encounter and the travel back to Zena.
"He does sound like someone attractive." Draven teased, "I may fall for someone with auburn colored hair that reminded me of autumn leaves. Eyes that sparkled like emeralds and who's face turned colors easily." He teased as he pulled Regale down another road that lead towards a small town. It seemed that they hadn't been too far from Iory.
As they drew closer, Draven noticed the first hints of snow starting to fall. In front of him he felt Aldara shiver and give a small squeak. "You ok?" He asked pulling Regale to a stop and glancing down.

She weren't sure if it was because it was getting too warm under the blanket that they were sharing or the words that were said, but her face felt like it went three shades darker. Her heart started to race at the thought that Draven could have been talking about her? She didn't know too much about his past nor much about the things he had gone through. He had said that he had been moving around too much to think about falling in love with anyone. But then he describes aspects of her?
"I... I think so. We should find a place to stay." She said not wanting to turn and look at him.
Beside the the Scorra was prancing from foot to foot. It seemed the he was worried about what was going on, or it was the cold that was affecting his feet. Reaching out from beneath the blanket she reached towards Soran to try and calm him down a bit. Soran on the other hand peeps and stares towards where they were headed. It seemed that they had found the small town of Iory. "There's a town a head, we should get there before it get colder."

Awkward moments were awkward. Draven said not a thing as he turned towards Iory and kicked Regale to move a little faster. While it was nearing midday, but the weather was getting worse. Snow was falling thicker, coating the ground as they traversed towards the town. When they reached Iory, Draven lead them to one of the inns. Here he paid for a room and stables for the beasts. He didn't know that the Scorra was always with Aldara, but figured that it could remain in the stables with Regale. The Janarim had come to enjoy the bird's company to a point.
"We'll stay here until the weather hopefully clears up and we can head into Zena to find Rhyne." Draven said as he lead Regale into the stable and proceeded to unsaddle the Janarim and place his gear in the back of the stall. Taking with him just his household gear. "You can leave your Scorra here, I think Regale would watch over it. He seemed fond of it even in this short span of time."
Regale gave a huffing sound before settling down in the stall. His back to the rear of the stall, as if he were guarding the gear that would be left behind. He did looked expectedly for his meal that would come from inside, Draven often ordered a hot meal for Regale on cold days..

The silence was deafening as they rode in silence, Soran watched Aldara with as much concern as a Scorra could give. It really didn't understand what was going on. Shaking out its feathers, it picked up its pace when Regale was made to move faster. When they reached the inn and stables, Draven had gotten off Regale and Aldara shivered at the lack of warmth that had covered her like a bubble. At the mention of leaving Soran in the stables she looked at the scorra.
"I don't know, I have always let him come with me." She reached out and petted the bird who moved closer to her. "Soran, will you stay out here for tonight?" She asked to scorra as if it could talk back to her like another earthling.
The scorra looked at Aldara, tilted its head before looking towards where Regale had settled in. Without much of a sound, the Scorra trotted over and settled down in the stray beside the Janarim. Seems that was her answer, "I suppose you can." She chuckled. Picking up her own bags from Soran's back, she turned to follow Draven into the inn where it was very warm.
She came to realize, she HATED the cold...
