Snowy Showdown (16) : There’s something magical about fresh fallen snow–completely undisturbed and untouched by the rest of the world. It should be relaxing and peaceful–a sign that no one has been around and you’re perfectly safe. Except, the best predators lie in wait, completely invisible to their prey. What do you do when a patch of snow starts clumping together and taking shape right before your eyes? When it all comes together, it looks like a person, only there are no features, just a snowy white form. Maybe there wouldn’t have been an issue if you hadn’t seen it, but it’s too late. In frantic, panicked movements, it lunges at you with icy fists. It feels like being pelted with snowballs, but each hit lowers your core body temperature–rapidly. The creature is highly susceptible to heat and will melt if exposed to it; if you hit it, snow splatters everywhere. It may attempt to reform, but eventually it loses strength. You might not want to stick around to see if it just needs a little more time. If the creature manages to knock you unconscious, you may wake up covered in snow and with a bad cold. You may be more aware of strange, snowy figures that seem to be standing around in odd places; who knows where these things are hiding?

It was cold, then again it had to be since they had just gotten a fresh coating of new snow. Everything was untouched, no gray splotches of the city marring the field of white. A literal field of white. Ben stood staring at what was a soccer field on a summer day, a mud pit on rainy days, and a contingency of the city’s children’s snowball battlefield by morning. But right now it was unmarked even by the birds. Unusual in such an urban area but pretty nonetheless, especially as the city lights made the white snow stand out starkly against the shadows of the park’s spindly trees.

He turned slightly to look at his date, raising a brow in question and tipped his head towards the snow field. “What do you say? Want to make snow angels? Or we could make a snowman.” He did a quick check of his phone, mentally calculating the time before adding, “We still have a good half hour before our dinner reservations. We have the time.” Ben leaned over until he could murmur quietly, much more intimately, in the smaller woman’s ear, “Or if you want I’m sure we can find a place…” He paused for a moment before finishing, “warmer.”

Quote:
She forgot to bring mittens.

Abby brought her hands to her lips to blow her warm breath on them, looking down in frustration. They couldn't have stayed in the car or maybe left a little closer to their reservation time? Apparently not, which is why they went out for a walk in the snow, something Abby usually enjoyed but because her fingertips were frozen solid….The pretty sight of the soccer field covered in white was not appreciated as much as it should be. “Snow angels?” It's been awhile since she’s made one of those…Cold hands or not she was down. “How about both?” She wouldn't mind both. But then, she literally felt Ben’s presence as he leaned over to murmur in her ear, a quiet gasp and blush was all she could manage…Before she narrowed her eyes with a glare.

“No, absolutely not. Especially if the warmer place you're talking about involves your monstrosity. I refuse Bennett.” That and now was not the time for THOSE types of shenanigans, no matter how tingly the suggestion made her. One thing she wasn't anticipating about having sex was the fact that the non existent libido that she had before was now constant and apparently always at the ready. “You suggested snow angels and a snowman….I would like to make those now.~”

Ben just chuckled and snagged her hands, her icy icy hands. “At least I always have,” He quickly pulled off his own leather gloves and slipped them on her hands, “protection. From the cold that is.” He grinned at her cheekily even as the sight of his larger gloves on her tiny hands was absolutely hilarious. “Come on,” The larger male just scooped Abby up and started to trudge through the snow, the fresh stuff crunching beneath his feet. “Those ‘heels’ of yours are not exactly snow boots so hold on Princess.”

Once they were far enough in he gently put her down before bending down to start to gather some snow for the start of a snowman. “How big do you think we should make the snowman?” The cold quickly bit into his fingers but he wasn’t about to stop right now. If his hands got cold enough he could just put them in his pockets to warm up for a bit.

Neither noticed a pile of snow building up nearby, a pile that had been a completely flat area devoid of anything that could have made the growing mound.

The look on Abby’s face was one that actually got the slight innuendo, but also it was one of mild “annoyance” “Ugh you are so…Humph!” she wasn't about to finish that thought, but her hands were warm now at least. “You're not going to make a snowman without gloves are you? We could just go back to the truck…Honestly I don't mind.” She didn't want his fingers to freeze off, that would be horrible. She squeaked when Ben scooped her up, instantly wrapping her arms around his neck. Abby buried her face into his chest to hide the smile and blush on her face while Ben walked. No, she was not going to let him see how much she liked being picked up at will….Never, nope, not in a million years.

“My heels are indeed boots Ben….You're just jealous you can't fit them.” was all she said into his chest.

After he set her down, she thought about how big their snowman should be. “I think maybe……Almost mid torso for me? That would be a good size.” She squatted down, tucking her skirt under her while gathering snow for their little project.

Ben shook his head and continued working on the snow. “You will just have to warm my hands later,” He teased her. Honestly it was more amusing to see her blush or stutter or just react to his silly, if a bit spicy, comments. It also didn’t hurt that she made the cutest faces when she did. He also liked to drag her into situations that she normally wouldn’t do, like the burger joint, or their walk to the restaurant. It really wasn’t his fault that the holiday traffic wasn’t as bad as he had planned for it to be. He picked their dinner spot in particular for all the holiday lights up in the general area, hence the walk, but well…

With a mental shrug he pushed his smallish ball towards Abby, “Here you go. A perfectly suitable start.” With a wince the man stood upright, stretched his back since hunching over wasn’t a natural position for him, and did his best to warm up his hands by blowing on them before shoving them under his arms. Ben absently surveyed the empty field only to frown when he spotted a snowman fairly close by. “Wow, Abbs, you worked fast,” He said quietly as he eyed the surprisingly humanoid figure. It was strange. Abby hadn’t exactly gone traipsing over there to build anything, he would have noticed, nor were there any visible footprints in the snow. He would have sworn that the field had been empty when he dragged her out there, again the untouched snow proved that. And to add to the creepy vibe, Ben had the eerie feeling the thing was watching them, even though there was barely a ‘face’… no eyes to watch them at all.

He took a step to the side so he was in front of Abby even as he looked over his shoulder at her. “How did you get the snow to do that?”

Quote:
That comment got Abby to turn scarlet, considering she knew all about what those hands could do and just how good they were at doing said things. “I-I will not!” she looked down, rolling her eyes “Pervert…” She did smile when he gave her a suitable ball to work with, adding her own to the mix as well. She was already working on getting a sizable base going when she heard Ben’s compliment. “What? Ben I only have the base and barely at that…What are you talking about?” she stood and dusted herself off, frowning when it seemed like he was in front of her. Why would he do that?

Abby poked her head out to the side of Ben’s towering figure to see exactly what was going on.

She…..She didn't build that.

Frowning, the small blonde twitched her nose in disgust. Could this be a youma? If so, that wasn't good…She's never fought one before this and that meant Ben was more in danger than she was. Instead of powering up (and thus condemning Ben to death or convincing him to convert), Abby pretended to be scared, clinging to Ben’s side. “M-Maybe we should go? I did not build that at all and it looks strange…” If push came to shove, she would battle the damned thing but she wouldn't be happy about it.

Quote:
“What?” He asked, confused. If she didn’t make it, and he didn’t make it, then who did? “Um, yeah. Yeah we should.” He agreed with her. It was eerie and he was not going to be one of those stupid white people in movies who die because they do stupid white people s**t.

Sudden movement out of the corner of his eye had his head whip around just in time to see the snow ‘man’ lunge at them, its movements jerky and unstable. “The ********!” Ben cursed and shoved Abby backwards, and away from danger, even as he did his best to avoid being touched by the thing, not entirely sure what would happen if Frosty got his snowy mitts on him. “Run Abby!” He barked out at her, not really paying attention to her only to curse when a snowy hand drove into him. It was like being pelted with an iceball; cold and hard as hell. Ben could feel the chill seep into his bones, even through his layers, even as he hissed at the pain. He had been hit harder before but it still hurt.

Quote:
Well s**t.

Abby stumbled backwards with a shocked squeak. The command to run hit her hard, but then she just tilted her head and sighed. She was trying to avoid this but she supposed she had no choice. Taking a deep breath, Abby flipped her hair and pulled out her pen to transform into Meinel, ignoring the chill going through her body from the cold air as she made her way over to where the “snowmen” were attacking her date. “Excuse me but you interrupted what was going to be a stellar snowman making day.” Her blue eyes narrowed as she stomped closer, running her finger along her palm to draw out her power, the scent, hopefully drawing them in. She didn't know what the effect would be on a monster but she had to draw them away from Ben before he got seriously hurt.

Quote:
It was cold. Very, very cold but he still struggled to move, to avoid the strikes of Frosty. At least he was until a blonde in a skimpy outfit came stomping over. Rather inappropriate clothing considering the weather, really. She was fussing about making snowmen or something, he wasn’t really listening, instead he was trying to avoid the snowman and looking for where Abby was. Ben hoped she had gotten away especially since she wasn’t there but the snow still only showed his steps into the field… no path away. There wasn’t even a new path for the new woman. There was some real ******** going on that was for sure.

He was going to ask the chick when the smell of flowers had him sneeze. It was strong. Strong and overpowering. So very overpowering, it was making his head hurt and sway a little. Between the cold that was eating away at his bones and the moving ground it wasn’t exactly surprising that Ben stumbled forward only to land on his knees in the snow.

Of course the human was the only one affected because the snowman had no nose. Not even a carrot one. Scents couldn’t affect something that couldn’t smell it! The snowman turned its ire from the male to the female, striking out at her with his snowy fists.

Quote:
Ugh…She should've known that her powers wouldn't work.

It's a good thing she has been training with Beni and Kafka and now knows how to defend herself. “I'm sorry Ben….” She sighed, smirking and practically twirling out of the way when the snowman came towards her. “Try harder frosty…” She twirled like the ballerina she is landing a roundhouse kick to its head. There was enough force behind the kick to knock a dent into it, the monster’s body knocking to the side but not falling completely onto the ground, recovering with a roar. Meinel steeled herself and dodged once more, kicking the opposite side of the snowman’s head with another kick.

The head blasted into powdered snow at that point and the body shattered, Meinel figured that wouldn't be all so when she saw that the snowman was recovering very slowly, she rushed over to Ben. “B-Ben get up please! I'm sorry I used my powers, I should've known better.” She rolled her eyes and tried to pull him up, finding some success since she was a super senshi now and not a basic. Meinel already knew she would have some explaining to do once they were safely away from that field. Although she didn't know where to go and she already sent a message to Alex letting him know what happened.

Quote:
Ben had ended up in the snow at some point before rolling over and just stared at the dark sky, his head still spinning but that was slowly fading away, at least until the woman came over and tried to pull him upright. The cold had soaked in but still he pulled away, eyeing the lady, “You're pretty and all but I’m taken.” His head was clearing, even as the chill settled deeper. So much of that was from laying in the snow but Frosty really packed quite a punch.

The tall man was physically pulled to his feet with a frown, he tried to yank free of the skimpily clad woman but she had an iron grip. “Seriously. I’m engaged. No touchy.” He took a shaky step away, annoyed at just how uncertain his balance was. “What the ******** was that anyway?” His eyes scanned the field, but didn’t see anything, not even the person he really was looking for. “I don’t suppose you saw a blonde lady running away did you?”

Quote:
Meinel sighed, rolling her eyes in a very Abby-like way. “Of course you wouldn't recognize me…I suppose I could change now.” Meinel took a deep breath and willed herself back into Abby, looking up at Ben with her eyebrow raised. “I didn't run anywhere Ben….You didn't find it odd I just disappeared out of thin air?” She shook her head, staring there with her arms crossed, head tilted.

“Recognize your fiancé now? I would hope so. Did the snowman give you amnesia?” The tiny blonde waited for his response. Clearly she was going to “welcome” him into the family business because killing him was not an option.

Quote:
He was a bit gobsmacked when the woman turned out to be Abby… somehow. Why hadn’t he recognized her in the first place? After a moment of just looking at her Ben smiled and made a comment that should have honestly gotten him slapped. Something about how very revealing her previous outfit was. He likely would have said something else but he stumbled when taking a step and cursed softly.

“I think we need to get out of the cold. That outfit hadn’t looked very warm and I swear it's going to take a year to warm up myself.” He tried to warm his hands up but they were ice cold. “I would also like to be gone before Frosty returns, and we have a few things to discuss don’t we?” A dyed eyebrow raised slightly even as he urged her back to the path and away from the snow field that had been the creature’s hunting ground.
