Holding her hand up to admire her ring in the night air, Spasskaya was tired of wandering the paths that she’d thought that runaway of hers had taken. She knew he was one for running, whether it be from responsibilities or people and it left her face souring as she ground her heel into the pavement. Oh, how she wished it was his throat instead but she took a deep breath and sighed instead of screaming.
There weren’t too many people out with how cold it was, a slight drifting of snow had started but she didn’t mind it much. The cold here was mild, forgiving, and didn’t even have her considering a coat once she’d called that pendulum of hers out and donned the odd outfit that came along with it. She needed to go back, to look around more, but she needed to plan better for this next trip. Tools would go first, lights or things she could use, and probably a broom to get some things cleaned. But that wouldn’t be tonight, or for a little while at least as she needed to keep track of the little puppy that had decided to wander into her shop.
The poor little thing had asked her for help, and she would have shooed the young man away if he hadn’t said the right things and had such good intel to offer. But with his crudely drawn map, she’d managed to find a few stores and that was one of her goals tonight. Though as she wandered past what looked like a playground, she saw someone sitting there in a similarly odd outfit to her own.
—---------------------
Funny how since he’s had kids, he finds himself wandering to where he usually takes them during the day when patrolling. Aaru sat on the bench facing the playground, arms spread with his head tilted back. He was resting, but aware of what was going on around him just in case he had to actually do something. However, he did poke open an eye at the order signature he felt nearby. A little signature so that meant he was dealing with a page probably. Not one to really stay quiet long, he sighed and opened both eyes.
The page didn't look like they were from Saturn, but the symbol looked familiar. Hes seen it on Shang before and what was he? A knight of Pluto? “Sup?” He gave the page a small smirk. He wasn't able to tell the gender but he could never go wrong with a neutral pronoun right? “New?” He lifted his head up, cracking his neck and dusting himself off as he stood up off of the bench.
“Not a Saturn knight so I take it you're from Pluto?”
—---------------------
Ugh that smirk, it reminded her of René and for a moment she let out a frustrated little huff before reminding herself this was someone else. Walking over to get a better look as the man stood, she rested a hand on her hip.
“To this country? Yes. To… all this?” Jostling her pendulum slightly in her hand for emphasis. “Also yes.” Though it had been going mostly well so far outside of a few scuffles. She wasn’t about to take s**t from anyone, magical or not.
So there were more types, she hadn’t gotten much out of the other one she had helped when the gargoyles had decided to pull them off a roof. “Yes Pluto.” That she’d gathered while looking over Spasskaya and finding her ring.
“What’s the difference anyway?” Resting the side of her pendulum over her shoulder, she looked at them with an expectant and slightly cold expression on her face.
—---------------------
Ah so this one was female if the voice was correct.
She seemed a bit spicy which ordinarily would have intrigued him if he were younger and not married. “What country are you from?” He could hear it in her accent but he didn't want to assume. Ah, so she was a pluto Knight, that was cool. She would be the second one that he has encountered. “The difference is a lot to be honest. My planet, Saturn is all death and gloomy even on a good day. Lots of gothic and victorian architecture. Rains diamonds if you catch it on a stormy day. Not so sure about pluto, I know another Pluto knight though, brother-in law to my older brother surprisingly.”
He rested the chain connecting his skulls on his neck, allowing said attached skulls to dangle. “Names Aaru, of Saturn obviously. What's your name?” He tried to appear as friendly as possible but if this chick was too much he would not hesitate to leave her to her own devices while he went home for the night.
—---------------------
“Originally, Russia. Then France and now here.” Her voice tinged with annoyance at the second country and disappointment with the one she was in now. Nothing really was worthwhile here in her opinion but it would do her family well to expand and branch out internationally. She had big plans for things which would not be stopped just because a little mouse left her at the altar. That thought pickled through her before she focused in on the mention of what Saturn was like.
“Diamonds? Hrm… Victorian is nice. I like Muscovite a bit better. Spasskaya, of Pluto.” Looking at the skulls, she raised an eyebrow in curiosity. “A clocktower, still sorting the style though. Frozen in time.” Something she wasn’t sure how to fix exactly. It wasn’t that time stood still there, at least not for her, but everything was too still and too quiet for any other explanation she had.
“So how often does it rain diamonds?” Because that was useful for clockmaking and if she could get them without paying for them, that was all the better for her profits.
—---------------------
Russia huh? He could tell by the accent.
“Rada znakomstvu Spasskaya (Pleased to meet you Spasskaya). Welcome to the shitfest that is Destiny City.” Of course, she zeroed in on the diamonds, which made him chuckle. He saw the look she gave his skulls and he looked down, “Ancestors, long story.” To be honest he didn't know there was a difference between diamonds…Well if he wanted to get Ryan some new jewelry, then he would have to pay attention to the type of diamond he was going to get him. If this thing with Moon worked, he would be spoiling her rotten with all kinds of diamonds as well. Focusing back on the page he shrugged. “Not sure. No way to predict the weather there. You just have to visit and hope you get lucky.” He hasn't seen any diamonds there so far and he has been traveling there for years.
“Your wonder is stuck huh? Better than having a rundown mass gravesite with a decrepit mansion.”
—---------------------
That got a smile out of her, at least this man had some sense. “At least business is good.” Which was the only real positive so far aside from this interesting side quest.
“I see, so that is a Saturn thing? And I guess this is a Pluto thing?” Nodding to the partial timepiece she had. “How would I visit?” Because really she’d only gotten to her own run down place after that incessant pull had gnawed at her for days.
“Still run down, had to move fallen stone and prop the doorway back open to get in. I think part of the ceiling has a hole but it’s pretty high up.” Another problem she needed to figure out how to solve.
“Mansions can be charming though, especially when they have things tucked away behind the walls.” It was a common occurance where she grew up and it seemed to go with her clock tower too. After all, her ring had been hidden in a compartment behind a clock face.
—---------------------
Huh….Aaru kinda liked this chick so far. A bit spicy but most russian women were that way, his own mother was a fairly good example as well as his sister Ciora who was twin to his older brother Damien. “Apparently so. I'm hoping to catch it one day just to say I was there.” He chuckled, “You can get there by asking a Saturn knight to take you to their wonder, much like if I wanted to visit Pluto, I would ask you to take me.” He didn't think a page could take anyone to their wonder yet and his days as a page were a bit blurry since it had been almost nine years. “If you like, I could take you to my wonder sometime so you can look around. Looks alot better than it used to in the past.”
Afte she listed all the things she had to do for her wonder, Aaru thought about it for a second. “Here, how about this: If you like, I can help you with your wonder.” He was always down to help another knight, especially if it meant that they would grow and eventually become stronger. They needed all the help they could get in this stupid war, so he would make sure to contribute to that and make it happen.
—---------------------
“I see well, I want to get a few of those diamonds for my works so if you see them let me know? And if when you come see my clock tower and see anything you like let me know? You know more about this than me.” It would be a good trade off but she was pleased to hear that she’d have some help which would make some things easier.
“You know how to do masonry?” Raising an eyebrow as she questioned them. Not that she didn’t know a bit herself but it would help to have extra hands when she got to the point of trying to fix archways or the roof.
“Well either way it's better to meet another whatever we are instead of more of those annoying things I’ve dealt with so far.” Grumbling as she couldn’t help but grind her heel into the ground again.
—---------------------
“Sure thing. I'll try to see if I can grab a couple for ya.” He never really thought about anything he would like from another world but it was something to keep in mind. “You know…I could just talk to you about any questions you would have. I might not be from Pluto but that doesn't mean we don't share anything in common as knights.” He knew what it was like to be tossed out to the wolves so to speak so if he could help in any way, he would.
“Yeah, masonry isn't all that hard. Iam self taught through youtube of all things. But it helped me repave the road at my wonder pretty well. I can help you with that too if that's something that you need?” He chuckled at the last bit. “We are knights. But I do get the annoyed with all those other things. I do have to ask: Are you more comfortable speaking to me in Russian or English? Or does it matter?” He had to admit, it was nice to find someone that spoke his mother tongue other than his twin siblings and Cass.
—---------------------
“Идеальныйz!” Clasping her hands together at the prospect of sourcing diamonds without having to deal with customs if things worked out. The mention of answering things as they came up seemed pretty good as well. “Of course, for now, I’m still figuring things out but I plan on going to look again here after I get a bit more work done in the city.” There was a lot to do even with that little puppy of hers sitting across the counter and telling her of where things were as she worked on orders.
“I’m alright with both or French but…” her face soured before she continued, “I’d prefer not to speak it if I can avoid it, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.” Among other things but it was something she’d picked up as her family had put roots down there. “The little puppy of mine seems to speak Norwegian but I haven’t decided on if I want to learn it or not.” Maybe bits and pieces that related to her work but it wasn’t something she would focus on at the moment.
“YouTube is an interesting idea, most of my work was learned from my family but then again aren’t there unlimited videos on there? I really only use it to play music sometimes while I work.” Tapping her chin, she looked at them again questioningly.
“So how do knights reach out? Does it have something to do with this?” Stretching her hand out to show her ring, she’d found it thanks to that odd memory but otherwise, she hadn’t looked into it much. That didn’t mean she took it off though, she quite liked the thing as much as she would something given to her by her family.
—---------------------
Aaru chuckled at the use of perfect in Russian, nodding, “Well, never bothered with French but at any point if you want to speak the mother tongue when meeting I don't mind.~” Little puppy? He was assuming a dog but with the way that she was speaking, it would be a human of sorts. He's seen a lot so it wouldn't surprise him if she had someone not from this planet working in her shop. “There are unlimited videos on YouTube. You can practically find anything on any subject so long as it is appropriate. There is also skillshare as well.” He flashed her his ring, then pointed. “You can contact me using the ring you get from being a knight. Then you pick a place and I'll meet you there.~” He nodded in acknowledgement.
—---------------------
She liked this one, at least they were reasonable which seemed to be in short supply in this city. “I was there too long to avoid learning it, I doubt sales would have done as well if we hadn’t catered to their language.” She still didn’t like it but it was more over personal reasons than the way it sounded or was structured.
“I’ll look into that then and I can ask you questions through the ring, sounds good. I’ll have to learn a bit more of this place first before I can decide on somewhere but I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon.” Kinsley was supposed to tell her more about some of the other stores where she could get supplies this coming week so she’d know another small section of the town then too.
Pulling a hand up to hold her cap on, she exhaled and watched the condensation float in the air in front of her. Cold she could handle but the wind was annoying. “I think I should get going, nice to meet you Aaru~” It was earnest because now she had someone she could talk to about the s**t in this city and try to make heads or tails of what she’d seen in that clock tower of hers.
—---------------------
Ahhh yeah that would make sense. Just like he would have to learn italian if he wanted to set up shop in Italy. It was indeed chilly tonight, but he did have layers of clothing on so it was harder for him to feel. That didn't mean his nose wasn't slightly rosy from the cold though. Now would be time to go home and get settled in for the night. He was sure his youngest would need to be rocked to sleep again or they could just watch Freddy vs Jason till they both passed out on the couch. “Pleasure meeting you too Spasskaya. Call me if you need me~” He gave her a tilt of his head and turned to walk so he could go home. There was a couch or a bed calling his name depending on how Silas felt tonight.
