Magion was playing with the end of her ponytail and walking, somewhat fascinated with the pretty lights that were going up on some houses. Mary had told her that it was growing closer to the ‘holidays’, though she wasn’t completely sure what that meant, she thought that it was going to be something lovely.
There was another Senshi’s aura nearby, and of course, she figured it was going to be Urda. There couldn’t be that many Senshi on the planet after all, and Urda was who she had run into the most.
With a smile, she began to half run, half skip towards the aura, invigorated by the coldness of the night, and the twinkling lights that were making things glow.
Her arm was held up in greeting, and her lungs were full. “Hello! It’s me! How are–oh!”
Magion came to a stop and stumbled slightly. It wasn’t Urda, but another Senshi, and as her eyes flickered over the scales? She thought they were scales at any rate on the male’s face and the pointed ears…and she tilted her head.
“Are you from Earth?”
It was a strange question, she knew but…if he wasn’t…then he was like she was! Oh, that was…
A very strange thought, but not an unwelcome one. Not an unwelcome one at all.

Haik had taken to wandering the streets, fascinated by not just the sheer amount of festivities, but the stark differences between each one and their associated decorations. He wasn’t small by any means, so it might have looked silly for someone so large to be taken by such things, but. Well. He was too new to Earth to care what the locals thought of him.
Not to mention if they took more notice of his size than his non-human characteristics, that probably worked out in his favor.
The senshi soon noticed the aura of a fellow senshi just nearby, and he wondered who it was for a second before appreciating the next building’s decorations and getting very effectively distracted. Nor for long, though, as he heard someone greet him most energetically. Turning his head to face them, he offered his friendliest smile when she asked if he was from Earth.
“Actually, I’m not. My name is Haik, Senshi of Currents. I take it you aren’t either? From Earth, I mean.”

Magion all but glowed. Her was someone who was like her…who would understand the strangeness of this planet…who must appreciate the fact that people were living here as much as she did.
Nodding eagerly she moved closer and extended her hand. “I am Magion! Senshi of Relaxation, I am also…somewhat new to the Earth! I was told that there were others like me, but I haven’t met anyone yet! How are you? What do you think of this cold and these lights? They’re amazing, aren’t they?”
They reminded her of the string lights on her ships. The lights that made it possible to hold parties all night long. It was comforting. Not quite familiar, but comforting, nonetheless.

Haik took her offered hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, happy to meet yet another senshi like himself and Jishui. He’d have to report this meeting back to her later, assuming he got home before she went to bed, and maybe ask how many other senshi like them were here on Earth. If she had to guess…she was far more knowledgeable than he was on this, after all.
“I am well, thank you for asking. A bit cold, but not unbearable. The depths of the ocean on my homeworld are cold as well, but a different kind of cold. I wouldn’t mind a jacket if this keeps up, though.”
The man looked thoughtful as he let her hand go.
“And yes, these lights are fascinating. We had similar decorations during our festivities, but the festivities all used the same decorations. Did you notice the spooky decorations that just passed? And now it seems the locals have moved on to more inviting decorations. I’m curious what it is that they’re starting to celebrate now. If it’s something non-locals can join, I would love to be a part of it somehow.”

“The Earth is so funny, I do have to admit…during the spooky…did you have anything odd happen to you?”
Magion gave a shudder and shook her head. “I got…eaten...I saw this horrible sight, the Moon was smiling? And then I looked down and there was this demon box that sucked me in, and it was horrible. Absolutely horrible…I’m still having nightmares…”
It was easy to talk to him. Easy to unburden herself to another Senshi who was just like herself.
“My friend Mary says that everyone can celebrate if they want to, so I don’t think it would be strange if you were. She said that this is the ‘Holiday Season’, but that’s about all I know…It’s very cozy and I love it.”

”Mm,” he nodded slowly and furrowed his brow as he made a very displeased sound at the memory. “I was accosted by some stone gargoyles. A local senshi–I believe she was local, anyway–helped me though, so it was easy enough to deal with.” He did remember something else about the encounter right then, and he added, “My powers did something strange that night, actually. I wonder if the strange happenings had anything to do with it.”
He reached over and gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder as she explained her own experience with that spooky holiday. “I am sorry to hear you’re having difficulties because of those experiences. If I can help at all, please let me know.”
It wasn’t an empty offer, but whether there was anything he could actually do, he wasn’t sure. He was good at giving hugs, if she was willing, but he’d kept those in check ever since Jishui warned him against randomly hugging strangers.
“Ah, well if this ‘Holiday Season’ is open to all, I’ll have to do some research at the library. I wonder if my roommate would be willing to do a bit of decorating…” He blinked at that, and looked over at Magion.
“Is this ‘Mary’ your roommate? If she is, she sounds very knowledgeable of the local customs. How fortunate for you!”

Magion looked up sharply, staring at Haik for a moment. “Your powers? Did they simply…not work? Because that has been happening to me as well! I thought…I thought that it just might be me, I met another Senshi who said he could still use his just fine…ah…”
She hesitated at the question, her cheeks growing warm, despite her focus on the issues with the powers and she nodded, and then shrugged, and then nodded again. “She is a Knight, and is absolutely wonderful. She is from Earth, and has taught me so much…like…how you have to skin a banana and not just bite into it! And her grandmother makes the most delightful food…ah! Do you have a phone? I would love to add you and then I can invite you to meet Mary sometime…perhaps we can celebrate these holidays together! And I would love to spend more time talking with you…”
It felt as though they had been friends for a lifetime…but then again, they had both lived a full lifetime already so, she could understand why she was feeling this way.
“I’m very glad that you weren’t killed by the gargoyles!”
…Even if she wasn’t quite sure just what a gargoyle was…she could look it up!
The internet was really, really great!

Her question piqued his interest. “Actually, yes,” he said, thinking back on his troubles with his magic. “It’s been…finicky might be the kindest way to say it. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t, other times it’s far stronger and absolutely drains my strength. I’ve not spent too much time looking into why it’s doing that. I’ve been going on the assumption that it has something to do with my coming to Earth, but how accurate that is…”
Haik sighed and gave a little shrug, happy to move on to a more pleasant topic. “She sounds delightful,” he said, his smile returning. “What is a Knight, though? And yes, I do have a phone.” He pulled it out and handed it over to her, still not quite used to the contraption.
“If you know how to add yourself? I’ve not quite got the hang of this yet…” He didn’t sound at all bothered or embarrassed by the admission. He was in no rush to get used to things here, having every intention of slowly enjoying being around other living beings once more.

Magion pulled her phone out and snapped a photo of Haik, adding him to her contacts. She thought about what he was saying and nodded slowly, though took hold of his phone and hesitated before taking a photo of herself and making sure it was added to his contacts before she gave it back to her new friend.
“That should do it! And a Knight…I knew about them from before, but she’s a different kind…they’re a lot like us? Only they…well they used to earn their powers at a school, I think? I don’t know, those that visited were mostly on breaks and enjoying themselves, and I can’t blame them!”
A yawn overtook Magion and she shook a little when it was over, reaching up to rub at her eye. “I think I’m going to head home, but I’ll be in touch! And you can come meet Mary and ask her about Knights! I’m sure she has a much better answer than I do.”
In fact, she knew that Mary would.
Looking at Haik, Magion hesitated for a moment before hugging him and then waved before running off, wanting to really think about the whole magic thing.
Could it really be because she had been alone for so long? She had lost power, she knew that but…
This was…a lot to think about. And it was interesting too.

He took in the information about knights with a little nod. “Interesting,” was all he could comment, and then he looked a bit dumb when she snapped a photo of him. He wasn’t sure what was happening when she took a photo of herself as well, and then took his phone back when she handed it back to him. He made a mental note to ask Jishui or Julienne again about how to add contacts to his phone.
“Thank you,” he said with an extra wide smile and bright expression, which brightened that much more when she came in for a hug. He returned it with gusto–he loved hugs–and gave a nod.
“I look forward to hearing from you! And learning about Knights from your friend, Mary!” With any luck he’d have more answers about his magic situation. Maybe he could ask Jishui or Julienne about it…
Actually, that was probably all that he could do.
Haik waved until his new friend was out of sight, and then headed home. It took a while, he did get distracted by the shining lights and pretty decorations, as well as a bakery he decided to stop inside (after ducking into an alley to go back to being his civilian self) to grab a treat for himself, Monika, and Julienne.
