All Bark and Some Bite ( 8 ) : Though still early in the season, some trees have already begun to shed their leaves. Maybe it’s climate change, maybe it’s a parasite. The bark of the trees seem oddly dark, almost black, but on their own they don’t look so unnatural. Maybe it’s just a pesticide or something? There’s no reason to be nervous around trees, anyway. By day, they seem perfectly normal. By night, they’re oddly loud and creaky, but even that’s normal too, right? And it’s just the wind that makes it seem like they’re moving behind you as you walk. It doesn’t explain the low gurling you sometimes hear from the darkness, like a monstrous, grumbling stomach, and it definitely doesn’t explain how the trees seem to lean in close to you. Or how they grab at you. When you least expect it, the trees seem like they’re trying to take a swipe at you. It’s strong enough to knock you off your feet or scratch you. If you get close enough, you’ll see that it’s not any ordinary tree hollow you’re staring into–it's a mouth. Leaking sappy drool, with a mouth full of sharp, barky teeth. The trees are smart, they never move when you’re looking at them, but as soon as your back is to them, you’re free game. The only thing you can do is try to get out of there before you become plant food.

Aaru was just minding his own damned business, wandering through the forest….At night.
No, nothing can happen, clearly while he was in a spoopy forest….Oh no.
So that was why he decided to dodge the….Dagger? That came flying at him.
Looking in the direction it came from, and noting the chaos signature there, he tilted his head with a disapproving look on his face. “Soo uhhhh….We’re taking cheap shots now?” He manifested his skull and charged forward, rearing his arm back so he could slam the skull into their face. He hoped they wouldn't dodge since that would ruin the fun. Call him weird, but he realized he actually got a thrill whenever an enemy tried to kill him. That might be something to analyze later, but he already knew he was going to forget about it as soon as he was balls deep in Ryan when he returned home energized from his “jog”.

“All’s fair and that s**t,” Strengite shrugged as she recalled her dagger before ducking back behind one of the trees she had been lurking behind. She didn’t want to get bashed by whatever that little squire had in his hand. The Captain had been out hunting, had actually hit her energy quota earlier, so when she had felt the telltale marker of an order fighter she decided to give it a shot. Rather literally. She had slowly snuck up on him, using the noise of the trees to mask any sound she was making, and once she was in range… deciding to try her skills at throwing her daggers.
It would have worked too, if the damn squire hadn’t ducked. Rude! How dare he. It wasn’t like she was trying to kill him, at least not right away. She was just going to use him as target practice, get him down, and drain him some. Maybe get a starseed out of it too if she felt like it. But it looked like this little diversion of hers was going to be harder than she thought.

Ah…So willing to dish out the hit, but not willing to suffer the consequences.
Aaru looked through the trees, using his aspect so that the agent would have a hard time hearing or seeing him. However, he did notice something…Odd about the trees around him. Deciding that he would keep an eye out, Aaru continued on, trying to find the agent that would rather hide over facing him directly. “You know you don't have to hide right? It's not like I'm going to bite you too much…” Or too hard, you never know what these crazy bastards are into. “In fact, maybe we could even talk, get to know each other better and you can convince me not to beat you to a pulp.”
He doubted that would get her to show but maybe if he threw enough honey mixed with vinegar at the wall, then the agent would come biting and he could have his fill of violence for the day. The trees were looking a bit creepier, but he still kept ignoring that fact, itching to fight.

She had ducked behind a tree, trying to move quietly until she could see the squire. In theory at least. He was gone from where she figured he would have been. Mentally cursing she started to move quicker, spitting out a real curse when some tree branches tangled in her hair, knocking her hat off. Swiping at them with her dagger the Captain called out to the squire in a sing-song voice, “olly olly oxen free! Come out, come out wherever you are! I’m not going to hurt you…” Oh no… I’m going to kill you she silently added as she did her best to stick to the shadows.
The sound of the trees were making it harder and harder to pinpoint any minute sound the squire was making. He was still here, Strengite could feel his aura so he hadn’t run away. She just couldn’t bloody well figure out where he was, even when he called out in the darkness, trying to bargain as well. “Awww, you say such nice things. If you just come a little closer we can see who will be the one biting and who will be the one bleeding.” She grinned. It wasn’t every day when a little order s**t enjoyed a tête-à-tête. With a little pain involved of course since all this work definitely deserved some gratification.
Maybe she wouldn’t hurt him… much. She was pretty sure dragging a squire to Beni to corrupt would be a better option then just presenting him the starseed. Strengite absently adjusted her grip on her dagger and narrowed her eyes, trying to spot the purple clad knight as he lurked in the darkness.

Oh she wanted him to come a bit closer did she?
Aaru crept closer to the chaos signature that he could feel, still keeping his aspect activated. He thought he spotted something human with white hair, so he went in that direction. When he had the agent in his sights, a tree branch moved…Literally moved in front of his face. Hell no….He ducked out of the way and this time, he made a beeline for the agent that he could clearly see. “Boo b***h! I'm right here!” He got in close enough to attempt a punch with his skull, its jaw opening to release its magic. “Better flee little chaos bird~” And it's sad because she was a pretty little thing.
Too bad she was on the wrong side of the tracks.

Squire: Aaru is now able to use the beginning stages of his hallucination magic which will have a magic pool of 20 seconds and have a radius of 5ft. He can either use this attack a number of times 4 times for 5 seconds each, twice for 10 seconds each, or use it for the full 20 seconds. This will be basic hallucinations coming from the fog that comes from the mouth of the skull when its open. It's the scent that causes it, not the actual fog itself. The Hallucination can be anything from a rotting zombie of your best friend to staring death right in the face, scythe and all.

“Now why would I do that?” She quipped back, leaping into his strike but using her skills to do her best to avoid the skull, her dagger’s in her hands. One aiming for the gut, the other up to block the majority of the punch. Strengite hadn’t figured it would do much but the blade could at least make the squire hesitate. It would help keep him from clocking her on the head with his stupid little toy. At least that was until the damn thing started to spew out fog. Knowing better the Captain swiped at his arm, blade first, even as she did her best to reverse course.
It didn’t help much, she got at least one good breath of the stuff before things started to go really haywire. She started to see things. Things like skeletons and zombies, the trees were even getting in on the act. Strengite wheeled away, swiping at the branches that reached for her, for them both according to her hallucination. A growl was drawn from her when a particularly spindly looking branch slapped her, leaving a red scratch across her face. Pissed, the Captain threw one of her daggers at the trunk of a particularly handsy tree, but it didn’t seem to do anything. Even worse, when she went closer to recall her dagger she realized that the hollow in the tree was not normal. Oh no, it was full of sharp bark like teeth and was full of sap like drool.
Spinning around she glared at the squire. “What the hell did your magic do?” She hissed, absently throwing her second dagger at him again, calling back her first, tree bound one. “Pulling some magical s**t eh? Just like you twisted ‘knights’ to do something like this.” The sound of wind swishing was all the warning she had as a branch came slashing at her. “Well,” She sliced at the branch, ducking, “******** you. Enjoy your god damn Ent’s without me.” Flipping the squire the bird, Strengite fought her way out of the park, regretting her original plan of getting just a little bit more energy. She should have known better. Nothing good ever came from messing with the ******** goodie-two shoes that were White Moon fighters.

Oh that gut shot was pretty close~ He didn't need to go to the hospital tonight, he had kids to take care of as well as a husband (that really doesn't need him but he likes to think Ryan relies on him). Aaru did let the blade slice his arm, which caused a hiss but it wasn't pain he couldn't handle. He leaped back and watched as the negaverser started getting hit by his hallucination magic. He laughed as the captain struggled, slowly backing away. “Twisted? I mean I'm not out here draining people for energy and taking their literal souls out of their bodies.” He nursed his bleeding arm, making his way out of the forest with the creepy a** trees. Welp, he was going to make his way to Xander’s little clinic again for some potential stitches. He wasn't sure how he was going to explain this to Ryan when he got home.
