+So you want to be an Islander? Well, of course you do. Who doesn't?! It's a great, tropical island filled with the splendors of nature. ...And of course, mad scientists bent on transforming and generally torturing us all to within a hair's breadth of our sanity.... It's a swell vacation spot.
-----+-----
::This Program:: is dedicated to providing 'island scholarships' to questers who have exhibited certain qualities that will make them perfect island fare: concept excellence, rp etiquette, and optomism. Events will be periodically held to raise more money for this foundation, and opportunities abounding to get on the scholarship list.
::Different Scholarships:: are available for different purposes. Right now, only two are available- but the third- the 'jackpot funds' will inevitably go to an islander to help pay for an auction bid. What's available now are the Contest Scholarship and the Flatsale Scholarship. The former will be much easier to obtain- and essentially, anyone who meets the requirements and fills out a short form- will get their event fee waived, and this fund will pay for their entry(ies) (when and if a contest comes up, and when/if they ENTER it.) The Flatsale Scholarship will be determined through different opportunities... and whoever obtains one of these, will have a flatsale fee waived (when and if a fs comes up, and when/if they ENTER the fs) and paid by this fund.
::Note:: As this is a fund for ONLY IoDM Quests- the money will remain in this fund. If you obtain a scholarship, your 'event/flatsale' fee will be paid to the IoDM- at no time will it be sent to you.

This program is run by an IoDM fan and owner of one of the characters on the island. NOT an owner of the breedable itself. The EW Scholarship is in no way affiliated with the outcome of island events/contests/auctions. Your winning an EW scholarship does NOT entitle you to a serum. You must win an event or a contest to have your scholarship paid to the island. If you don't win, your name will be kept on the list for the next time. Any donations you make to this fund- though appreciated- are not necessary. They will ALSO not guarantee you in any way an EW scholarship or a serum.

Quote: Respond to this prompt w/ your character. They know this person slightly- but this is only their second meeting. Respond with a rp-like reply that would be as long as you would NATURALLY write it. Length isn't important here- just quality.Alice picked at the food on her plate- somehow, the girl's stomach was much as odds with her as was her mind. There were three things that she'd always had in her life- confidence, happiness, and good food. The former two were due mostly in part to her parents- those sweet, now white-haired little old people that had always encouraged their three daughters to do whatever wild thought possessed them- and the latter was due to her being a chef. ...One of many chefs, rather. Her father was a chef, her aunts were all chefs- the blonde-haired girl was only the last in a long line of food connoisseurs to walk the earth. Any and all manners of food- that was what Alice loved. Pastries had always been a shining jewel in her crown... those delicious, devilish desserts that had contributed an easy fifteen extra pounds to her hips... and, in some ways, to a lifetime of damnation here- on Hell Island. She stabbed at a broccoli florette with her fork- only to slide it back off by drawing the utensil up off the edge of the tray. The food here wasn't bad, per se- but after falling for Moreau's invitation to be a full-time chef at his 'tropical resort'... only to find the terrors that awaited her- Alice found her appetite had left her. Happiness... confidence... and good food. She didn't have any of those, now. She sighed- not so much sadly as resolutely- and pushed the tray away, drumming her fingers on the cafeteria tabletop instead. It was then she saw her acquaintance- coming right for her. She'd only met them once- but they'd had a decent conversation, and Alice found she was glad to have someone to talk to who knew something about her. "Hey. Pull up a seat." Mia had entered in the cafeteria unsurely as always. Places were still unfamiliar to her, the blind one. So, she felt a bit unsure about travelling alone. She had her guide dog, Cutie, with her but the dog couldn't show him where places were. Luckily, cafeteria was rather easy to find. "Hey. Pull up a seat."Great, someone was here. She had a direction now, a place where to head. "Hello," she said somewhere towards Alice's direction and glanced at there through her sun glasses while starting to reach forward, taking support from chairs and tables in her way. Finally she found way to the seat in front of this food lover. Cutie was on her side as always. "It was Alice, right?" she asked, just to be sure she had got the name right. "What you have been up to?" she asked curiously and smiling.

Crevan had been in the cafeteria almost as long as Alice had, and he already had a plate full of succulent fruits for his meal. It was as he was turning away to take a seat that he suddenly realized something...
He didn't really know anyone here...
And then there was that sudden, oh-so-familiar feeling of anxiety that welled up in his stomach. He'd only had a handful of close friends at his home, and now he had to make new ones. He was about to head straight for an empty table at the back of the room, when he noticed a familiar face. The blonde looked distant, and almost instantly curiousity replaced his anxiety. He wondered what she was thinking about.
'They always say curiousity killed the cat...'
How he'd been lectured about that as a child. Crevan was the type of boy who'd needed to touch everything, ponder what it could be used for...
He shook his head. No use dwelling in the past.
With a deep breath, and a friendly smile on his face, he made his way towards Alice. He was glad that she noticed him, and that she made the first move. It always helped ease the anxiety he had regarding socializing when it was someone else who made the first move.
'Now what was her name again? I don't want to seem rude...'
It only took Crevan a minute to recall her name, and he couldn't help his enthused grin from spreading across his face. After setting his tray down across from where Alice sat, he plopped down into his own chair.
"Thanks, Alice."
Crevan wasn't one to beat around the bush, but he figured a little tact wouldn't hurt. He casually took a small bite of the apple he'd selected earlier and chewed it for a moment, pondering how to start a conversation. Upon swallowing, he opened his mouth to speak.
"So..... I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's on your mind?"

Michael smiled softly seeing the woman he had met earler her. He brushed off his pants and walked twards her.
"Hey. Pull up a seat."
Doing so he sat near her. "How have you been Alice?" He was good with names but he kept tapping his foot nervously. Leaning on the table he smiled at her again looking at the food she had left on the table. Listening to every word she said made him smile more though she sounded alittle depressed.
"I hope you start feeling better about being here. I know everthing will go well. Plus I can't wait to try your food." Hopeing he was makeing her feel better he patted her back gently and gave her a soft smile.

Aurora had just come in to the Cafeteria. She was till a little unsure about what was going on the island it was not some thing she liked to think about. She guessed it was one of the few things she could think and talk about without having to dip in to her past to help her figure things out. Noticing the blond hair girl sitting at one of the tables Aurora smiled she remembered talking to her before.
Noticing the girl had spotted her she smiled and let her thoughts she had before be pushed to the side of her mind. "Hey. Pull up a seat."
Aurora looked around a little making sure the other girl had meant her . Well there was no one else in the cafeteria any way so it was directed at her. ?Hello, nice to see you again. Can you wait one second I just would like to grab some food.? She the remembered the other girl knew a thing or two about food. She turned back to look at Alice. ?Sorry I am horrible at names? she gave a nervous laugh ?But what do you recommend that tastes good today?? Aurora blushed a little as she looked at Alice and then realized the food still on the other girls plate and almost immediately wanted to take back her last statement. Her hand went strait to her face trying to cover her embarrassment about the question she had asked.

She'd only met them once- but they'd had a decent conversation, and Alice found she was glad to have someone to talk to who knew something about her. "Hey. Pull up a seat." 'Arigatou..' Sayuri pulled out the indicated chair, looking around nervously as she seated herself. Sleeves folded, and kimono skirts tucked under her, she looked from the tray she had placed on the table, to the girl who had invited her to sit down. 'Alice isnt it?' she asked tentatively, after spending some time examining the girl's tray to see if she had gotten the same unappetising mush as she. Sayuri remembered meeting the girl a few days ago - bumping into her actually - with her normal show of graceful finesse and had sent the girl flying. The girl didnt correct her and so she chattered on, stabbing the unfamiliar utensil into the food..making a fair mess and jabbering on about how peculiar it was to be here, and how she felt that everyone was looking at her because of her hair which she still had up in the wareshinobu style (slighty messy but still clinging onto the style). She wound down, mortified that she had let her mouth run on like that to someone she had met just twice now. '..sumimasen..' she mumbled, ducking her head and apologising. 'You are ..missing your family, and I should not unload all my stuff on you.' she fell silent, glancing at the discarded broccoli flourette. 'I bet you could make something so much better then this...' she nodded, but her belly was making grumbling noises so she speared some of her food on her fork, and shoved it in her mouth, eager to hear her companion talk...that way Sayuri hoped she wouldn't stick her foot in her mouth again.

Though Maryke's only been at this hell hole for only a couple of hours, already she's had two arguments with some of the 'locals', been obliquely threatened by a member of the staff, and had some jerk "accidentally" spill some green slimy crap all over her newly bought Manolo Blahnik aligator boots. $14,000 flushed right down the toilet! And on top of that factor her arm hurts like a b*tch from where that p***k shoved a needle in it and the only way it will stop is if someone chops it into tiny little pieces with a chainsaw.
Needless to say Maryke's NOT having a good day.
"Hey. Pull up a seat."
It took a moment for the madam to realize she had been spoken to with all the self-pitying mantra she had going on internally. She pursed her lips slightly and looked over at who was doing the speaking, still holding on to the plate of slop these people were trying to pass off as Cesear salad. The girl looked pleasant enough and Maryke realized the two had spoken earlier. Well more like this girl spoke and Maryke pretended to listen. Something about food. Not that it surprised her. She figured the girl was a chef or something, she didn't really remember.
What was her name? Amber....Avery...Anna....something with an 'A'. Oh well, Maryke was past the point of caring. Alice! It suddenly hit her like a ton of bricks. Yes, she thought briefly, looking at the other woman's wide curves. This was the girl she thought would best be suited doing pro bono fashion shoots for the Dress Barn down in 'Jumbo Land'. But...insults aside, this was the first nice person Maryke had met all day, and she was smart enough to know that making friends on the inside would help her in so many ways.
She let a sickenly sweet smile cross her features as she sat down in front of the other girl. "Alice, hey....I've been looking all over you," She lied in the nicest tones, making sure her trap was laid just right.

Groan. The cafeteria game. Lin-Liu had played it all her life. From Elementary School to High School to College to the Hospital Lunchroom, the cafeteria game had always cast a shade of foreboding over lunch hour. Who to sit with? It wasn't an easy answer when you didn't have any connections whatsoever.
As the oriental woman made her way across the dining hall, she caught a glimpse of the girl she'd met the day before. Biting her lip slightly, Lin set her jaw and flicked her eyes down to her tray as if completely engrossed by the arcane American food she'd slopped onto her plate. In the cafeteria game, acquaintances were always the worst. With eye contact came the invariably socially awkward pause, the inevitable appraisal of 'do I really want you to sit here.' Lin had found it best just to pretend she didn't see the slightly familiar faces. It was entirely less taxing to just find an empty table. She currently had her sights set on an abandoned four-seater, about twenty paces to the left, and had almost made it past Alice when she heard her voice call out.
"Hey. Pull up a seat."
She'd been caught! Without a word the woman sat, her tray clattering softly against the surface of the table. Momentarily nonplussed by the invitation, she cleared her throat. "Hello again." Came her reply after a pause a moment too long. Her tone was laced with inherent distrust, but the cynicism masked a trace of hope.
The woman's brow furrowed ever so faintly as she watched Alice herd her meal around her plate restlessly. The patterns of the blonde's unsettled actions mirrored the currents of unease that churned in Lin-Liu's own stomach. Today marked the one-week anniversary of Lin's arrival on the island and she still hadn't become close enough to any of the other Islanders to really discuss the situation in depth. Alice was relatively new to the Island as well, she knew, and from the other's actions Lin wondered if the blonde might be in a similar state of mind. Perhaps this might be the opportunity Lin had been waiting for. After one last moment of hesitant silence, Lin decided to try to start up a conversation.
"Being a chef and all, I was under the impression you liked food." She said with her usual wry grimace, her eyes, like wandering blots of ink, moving to catch Alice's gaze for a moment. If the other took the time to register the look, she would see that Lin's statement had not been said in simple belligerence, but as a hint of an opening for the blonde to speak her mind if she so desired.
