The Monster Under the Bed (5) : There’s a faint scratching under your bed. Maybe you’ve heard it in the nights leading up to now, or maybe it’s just started, but the scurrying noise is starting to drive you mad. What is it? A bug? A creature? Your imagination? If you try to ignore the noise, it grows louder and louder and louder, until it’s practically all you can hear. You can try to ignore it but sleep is impossible. If you’re hoping to get any rest, you’re going to have to investigate–but you’re not going to like what you find. A flashlight under the bed yields nothingness–a darkness so deep that it seems to swallow up all light. The noise is worse but you can’t see anything. But you’re already in its trap. If you try to reach into the darkness, something grabs your wrist; if you try to walk away, your ankle. Its grip is icy and sharp, like being grabbed by knives, and it pulls. No matter how hard you fight against it, it’s stronger–and it drags you into the darkness. You fall, for what feels like an eternity–and then you jerk awake, violently. Maybe it was just a bad dream. But it doesn’t explain the fading red marks from where it grabbed you. When you look again, it’s just your bed–but you have the distinct feeling that something is missing.
Takie had crawled into bed feeling fairly sleepy after a glass of milk and some sugar cookies that had been cut into Halloween shapes. It wasn't long before Halloween would be here and he could go dressed up and get candy. He had on his pajamas that had a galarian zigzagoon.
Laying down he stretched and yawned. He paused when he heard something scratching, skittering around. He opened an eye and listened. He was really hoping there was not a mouse. It was the first night he had heard it but it was also kind of the first night he had not tried to sneak out some. Maybe he had been so tired he had not heard the scratching prior.
The child elected to ignore the scratching, it was just something that was harmless. Right?
Right? The scratching continued and seemed to get louder as he tried to ignore it. Sighing Takie finally got up and snagged a flashlight. "I really hope, it's nothing."
He said as he grabbed a flashlight that looked like a little t-rex. The sounds were continuing from under the bed and he dropped down to his knees and shined the flashlight into the darkness. He paused looking, it seemed like nothing more than a black hole. Which was so weird. . . usually he could see the wall under his bed. But it was just pitch black, he felt goosebumps run down his arms.
He was very tempted to just go running for his mom or powering up because something was wrong. He got up to henshin maybe it was something magical?? He wasn't sure what he could do but as he turned something snatched his ankle.
It was icy cold and sharp stabbing pain with whatever snatched him. And started pulling. He let out a surprised yelp. Low key hoping he did not wake his mother. He was trying to scramble away but it kept pulling him down into the abyss he had seen. He felt like he was falling forever and he couldn't even power up it was like he was paralyzed.
Something woke him up suddenly he was gripping his sheets like he was hanging on for dear life. He was looking at his ankle with a frown it did have red marks on it. He was sitting up looking around he felt like something was missing but. . . he wasn't sure what.
Kiku was up watching a movie when she'd heard Takie and got up to see waht was wrong. "Everything okay in there?" She called softly; not like she didn't mind busting in on her son but she still didn't want to just crash in if he was actually asleep.
Takie's head swiveled towards his door and he was rubbing his eyes as he walked over to it and opened it. "Yeah. . . . I think I had a really weird . . . . nightmare?" He looked confused. As he walked out, thankful his pajamas hid the red mark on his leg.
"I thought I'd heard something scratching under my bed like a mouse, but then I falling into an endless black hole. . . . it was really weird." He sighed and looked at his mom, "Can I sleep with you tonight?"
He rubbed the back of his head, he knew he was out of that age that he should be sleeping in his own bed but that was enough to creep him out. He was looking at his mom with sad tired eyes.
"Of course sweetheart!" She said as pulled him into a hug, "And I'll call the apartment manager in the morning and have them get pest control out to make sure there isn't any rodents!"
Takie nodded when she said she'd have the apartment guys look to make sure there weren't any rodents. "I'm going to go crawl in your bed." He said as he went to snag his stegosaurus plush and headed to her room. "Good night."
