Running his thumb over the odd medallion he smiled as he settled down on one of the park benches while watching his youma pecking around another. They were large, larger than most other ravens since they were a youma but they still acted much the same as they had before the change had happened. He’d gotten used to their whims at this point and found their little excursions for enrichment quite useful for gathering information.

This time he remembered the medallion, most other senshi might not fall for the trick he’d used on Parsifal to explain his signature being so strong. The man had obviously been on something but now he had a little curious thing that wanted to play with his youma from time to time.

There were a few order senshi and knights in the area, none of them particularly strong feeling so if anyone was curious in the wrong kind of way he could handle it.

Voce looked up first, ceasing their pecking at the ground to look over the approaching senshi. They didn’t seem to have any baubles or trinkets like Parsifal so their interest was already waning. Knowing that their general was nearby, they hopped a bit to move closer and tilted their head to look at the woman smiling.

Cawing at first, even if the sound of it came out almost too perfect and uncanny, Voce went to preening while keeping an eye on them. Making a show of how pretty its feathers were and that it was just doing what a normal bird might do even if they weren’t anything like a normal bird.

Pausing from their preening as a snack that would tempt any other bird that landed near them, Voce eyed it and decided to peck at it for a moment but not eat it. It wasn’t a starseed or a rift crystal so it wasn’t food to them. The comment that the senshi had uttered was interesting though and something gleamed in its eyes as he hopped a bit closer and looked directly up at them.

“Friend?” The voice that came from the bird was small and innocent sounding, borrowed from one of the younger school children that they had seen during a patrol with Chalcanthite. It had been useful, their general had said, to lure people in so they’d borrowed that voice and used it even now after years had passed. It was a wonder if that child still sounded the same after all that time but it wasn’t their problem to worry about.

Another head tilt then Voce nodded, not quite letting them pet him yet but also not moving back. “Voce, what’s your name?” Moving just a bit closer, they looked over the senshi’s fuku to see if there were any baubles now that they were closer but aside from the gold trim they were rather unadorned.

Making a small little whistle, they then fluffed up a bit and settled down on the ground just barely out of the senshi’s reach as if tempting them just a bit closer or to at least answer their question for now. Chalcanthite could see the whole thing, that was something Voce was sure of so it was just a matter of how much they could get this senshi to say before Chalcanthite came over.

Eyeing the senshi, Ako as they said they were called, Voce moved just slightly closer. “With a friend, a very nice friend. But he’s busy. Ako keep me company till he returns?” Letting the senshi’s fingers glide over the top of their head, Voce fluffed up slightly and let them pet at the dark feathers that covered them.

“What are you of Ako? Something pretty and shiny?” Focusing on the golden trim on their fuku slightly as they spoke in that innocent voice they liked to borrow just for times like this. As soon as they gave just a bit more information Chalcanthite could step in and continue as he had with Parsifal.

Hearing the words had Chalcanthite pause for a moment, stiffening and wondering if this was the senshi that had burned his sister but they sounded… defeated. It couldn’t be the same senshi and he walked over slowly, acting like he hadn’t heard anything at all even though he watched for any signs that might lead to a fight.

“Have you found a friend Voce?” His voice was quiet and calm as the distance between him and the senshi closed. “I see, someone who knows the best place to scritch you.” Squatting down carefully, he looked at the senshi and smiled.

“Sorry if I startled you, I am Captain Chal and who might you be my dear?” He could see there was a sadness there, something he could maybe work with if given the proper time and push. Reaching over, he ran his fingers through Voce’s feathers and trailed over the wisps of mineral that were mixed between the dark black feathers.

“They are not one for biting if you were worried about that. Voce is quite the conversationalist and that is about it.”

Fluffing up a bit more as Ako scritched at them with her nails, they made a very content birdlike noise and let them do as they pleased while Chalcanthite approached. They knew he had heard the senshi’s comment and it was a perfect opportunity. Much different than the meeting with Parsifal, this meeting could potentially end up beneficial in a different way.

“Yes new friend Chal, meet Ako.” Nodding for a moment before moving back to let the senshi scratch beneath their beak.

“Oh it is quite alright, Voce gets into all manner of trouble and brings odds and ends back all the time. They will ask for anything that glimmers if you let them.” Shaking his head slightly he watched as they continued to pet his youma. “You spoil them you know, I have a feeling they may ask you for a visit in the future when we are out and about.”

Shifting slightly, he pulled a crystal from subspace, one from the Rift, and offered it to Voce as a treat. “For being well behaved Voce.” Watching as his youma gulped the thing down all while continuing to receive scritches from this senshi he couldn’t help but be relieved that they were easily motivated by rewards of any type instead of something more sinister.

“You seem a bit out of sorts, though I mean no offense, are you alright?” Asking with concern in his voice as he decided to sit on the ground as his back wasn’t too keen on him continuing to squat like that.

Nodding in agreement to Chal’s comment Voce was more than content with this senshi for the moment. At least until something changed or someone else stirred something up. Eyeing the crystal in Chal’s hand they gulped it down quickly.

“Ako is nice, should be friends with you too.”

So it would seem that twice now order wanted to play with his youma except from what he could tell Ako wasn’t under the influence of any drugs. Maybe a bit sullen but… he could work with that. “That and some other things that I find unpleasant to feed them and you would want to refrain from obtaining for them.” Hinting at a starseed without outright mentioning the things.

“Are you quite sure? I know I may not be on the same side but, I do not really intend to bring any harm to you. I will say Voce gets a bit over eager while eating but just watch your fingers while they snack.” Offering one of the crystals to her to feed to his youma, he didn’t really mind the action but noticed how Voce’s eyes followed the thing intensely.

“Sometimes I find things hard, rarely do senshi or knights have want of conversation. I find the whole fighting aspect distasteful but… rarely do I get to make my point.” Even now they could use their magic on him and he’d have barely time to teleport if needed. It was a risk being this close with them being a senshi and him an agent without magic. In his opinion, more risk on his side would make the other feel at an advantage in a conversation but other times he knew people just loved to fight.
