Walking home alone was not an uncommon thing for Kinsey, it was normal even, but it wasn't a bad thing either. It was something Kinsey enjoyed, especially this time of year when it got darker earlier. The cool air, the leaves changing colors, the fall was his favorite time of year. Kinsey lived for this time of year, he really enjoyed a good cup of hot chocolate while curled up at his computer working on project ideas and homework. Kinsey didn't leave his room much, not unless he had to or when no one else was home or awake. So the time he spent walking home was treasured, especially this time of year, because it wasn't like he enjoyed always being confined to his room. It might be self imposed but it was safer that way.
Taking a deep breath, sighing softly as he exhaled, he was smiling lightly as he walked along side the park under the dappled makeshift awning of leaves. Their colors darkened as the blanket of night had been cast over the sky and the sun hidden from them, as it busied itself on the other side of the planet. His eyes closed for a moment, his smile increasing just a touch, and the serenity was broken when something landed on his head - an acorn? Reaching up, to see if it was in his hair, he pulled something out...something wooden? Was it really an acorn? Feeling it in his hands he didn't think it was - a die? Like for a boardgame. But from where had it come?
Looking around Kinsey felt things change and disolve as he was pulled away from the park and the city -and everything. Landing hard on a square, one of many, all of the squares were lined up in a stright row heading to the last one..a way out perhaps? He could hope so because he didn't know where he was precisley but he didn't like this.
"....How?" Whispered as he glanced about before looking at the object in his hand. Moving to step forward, to move down the path towards the assumed exit. Only he hit something, a barrier that was invisible, jerking back with the hit he stared for a moment more. "Damn." He was going to need to roll the dice right? Because that seemed logical enough.
Rolling his eyes he threw the bit of wood at the barrier, watched it ping off of it, and land on the floor.

Ok, so two spots...that wasn't that great but it was still closer to the exit. He couldn't be upset with only two squares, not when it was still progress, he just needed to breath and realize that he was safe here. There was nothing around hiom and it was just a path of sqaures ahead of him. Stepping onto that spot, his new posistion for the moment, it took a moment before Kinsey's idea of this place being safde was turned on it's head and destroyed.
He was standing there, dice in his hand, ready to roll again when something from behind hit him with force. It sent him stumbling, his hands pinwheeling as he tried to keep his balance. He must look like an idiot, he was certain of it, and it failed anyway. he hit the barrier, with both hands, and found the wind knocked out of him as he was pressed to the barrier hard.
"You want me out? Gladly, I'd like to leave as well." He huffed once he finally pushed off the barrier and glanced about. The glare he wore on his face was certainly enough to get his message across - he was upset. He wasn't pissed, he didn't think he'd ever been pissed or really angry, but he was certainly not happy about this predicament. Something however was here and now he knew it - he knew this wasn't a safe place.
Rolling the dice once more he nodded his head and pointed to the object on the ground, as if telling whatever was here with him that he was working on leaving.

Eyeing the wooden dice he jerked his finger at it. "If you wanted me gone...this doesn't help." As if somethign with a consious really was here with him, and maybe it was? He had to be going insane, he was certain of it, ever since the night his clothign had changed. The moon had not looked like the moon and his clothign had become something else...all because of a letter opener. He hadn't thought of that since then, trying to forget whatever odd thing had transpired that night. But how could he really ignore it? He knew what he saw, what he'd felt and heard and he trusted his senses - all of them. He wasn't feeble or loosing himself. And he knew what he'd felt moments ago on the previous square. He knew he wasn't in the city anymore nor was he neare the cities park. He was some place else...like a pocket dimension or a black hole...or something, he wasn't entierly sure. That sort of science wasn't his thing, though he knew a few in school who got into that sort of thing, he wasn't about to go seekign them out about this though.
Standing at the third spot he held the dice in his hand and waited...and waited....and a fog was rolling in. It was thick and heavy, dense, he could feel it when he breathed and he couldn't see in front of himself. Oh, this was going to complicate matters a bit.
Rolling the dice he dropped down to the ground, as soon as it left his hand, so he could listen for a where abouts for it's landing. And he started moving once he heard it. Hands reaching across the ground, hoping they didn't run into anything else which the fog might be hiding, as he sought the dice out it took him some time to find it....but he did find it. If anyone were to see him like this...he might die of embarassment.

Oh! All this needed was the sounds of seagulls and it would be perfect! The smell in the air and the sound of waves crashing - it was perfect. he wasn't a person who liked the summer, it was too hot and bright, but he couldn't deny the appeal of the ocean and what that package included. He didn't want to go to the beach, he'd burn and he couldn't swim well, but he really wouldn't mind going in the fall or winter just to watch and listen...to simply be there.
Then he heard boreds creeking...a dock or was it a boat? He wasn't sure but he heard it. This square he could enjoy, he really could, right until he heard the singing. It wasn't the singing which was an issue per say but rather how focused on it he became. It was calling, almost pleading, with him and there was a need to the voice...he couldn't shake it or ignore it. Before he could call out, to say anything, his mouth just opening to speak he felt water- a lot of it. He felt like he was choking on it and felt it up his nose and down his throat.
While clutching at his throat he felt a hand, scales and slender digits reaching for and wrapping about his hand...as if to ease his hand off his throat. Another hand, one pressing between his shoulder blades, moved and guided him but to where he didn't know. He felt tired, spots dancing in his vision, as he felt his eyes drifting closed. It was sheer force of will, a fear of joining his mother too soon, which kept him from falling forward - had him struggling. He pulled away as he choked and found air impossible to suck down. His feet knocked the dice, which had at some point dropped from his hand, and he stumbled forward towards the next square as he kicked the dice ahead of himself. Choking and coughing on water.

The next square also seemed safe, but he'd seen how that had gone before, he was worked up and fidgeting even as he knew something would happen - something had to. Even before knowing what was coming he threw the dice he had and watched it bounce and roll and keep rolling. When it finally did stop he heard noise, a lot of noise, and than there were rats...everywhere there was rats. They looked rabid, or at least starved, with how hungry and agressive the things looked. Picking up the die he hurried as fast as he could. Some biting at his shoe covered feet and his ankles. Kicking at them as he went, trying to shake them off. Yelping as he felt little teeth biting into his flesh Kinsey was hurrying past them all, kicking as he went, in order to leave this square. Mumbling about rat killer and poisions the whole way - what gross and nasty things they were.
"Someone should burn you all, plague carrying nightmares." He did not like rats...that was something he'd never once realized about himself, having never really dealt with a rat up close, but now he could say for certain he didn't like rats - not one damn bit. They could all die for all he cared, though perhaps not in labs...nothing deserved that. But if they all died he'd be perfectly content with ********, I'm going to need to see if I got enough products to clean those bites..." And make sure nothing infected or he didn't catch something, damn it. He could feel some blood dripping down his leg from the damn things.

The next square, two away from the horror of the rats, seemed innocent enough but he knew that wouldn't be the case. He was ready for whatever would come, he was sure of it, only he wasn't prepared for it. Bats..lot os screaming bats and they weren't just hitting into him or flying about him. They were landing on him and clinging to him and biting him. As if he didn't have enough bites he now had bats biting him. The feeling of cold, sever cold, hit him he became agitated. Grabbing one bat he made to throw it while another was grabbed and actually thrown onto the floor and stepped on with his show. Grinding his foot against the bat as he ignored it's screams - till they stopped.
The bats might be biting him but he was attacking back as another was smashed against the barrier several times by Kinsey who was growling by now at the damn things. The dice had landed, somewhere, and it was by chance that he spotted it. He was busy yanking one off his leg that had bitten him right where a rat had already gotten him. The damn little thing was thrown somewhere, yelping as another latched onto his hand, Kinsey was not having a good time. He had bites all over, bats clinging to him, and to think he found bats to be adorable!
Right now though his thoughts on them were anything but kind and gentle, because he really did love bats, rather his thoguhts werre murderous and negative. Spying the wooden dice on the ground he threw it, and a bat that had been next to it, and went to see what the roll was. Stepping on another bat as he went, scooping the dice up as he went. He was shivering, freezing cold, and beyond angry as he squeezed another bat as it screamed and shrilled at him. Dropping it to the ground once it stopped making noise. <******** thing." Nope, Kinsey had no current love for bats. He would, whenever this subsided, feel bad because he really did find bats adorable as hell. He knew the internet loved cats, and there was an abnormal amount of husky videos online of them derping off, but he loved bats and foudn them adorable.

Those bats had not been a joke, the bites stung and were bleeding, as he stepped into the next space and waited to see what would come next. At this point he figured ******** it - bring it on. He would handle whatever this bit of magic decided to throw at him. He'd been through enough in life so what was this? Just more? Fine, he'd survive.
The cracking sound, like a crack being made in glass, had his attrention and he was careful as he stepped further onto the square. Ok, so no animals at least...but something wasn't stable - litterally. The ground was shaking and wobbling and looking down he saw why. Ice! The ground was ice and a hold was forming under his feet. Moving to escape, to get away from the forming crack, the ice gave way under him suddenly and sent him down - deep down into freezing cold water. His mouth clamped shut before he plunged into the water but he didn't have time to get a last full breath in.
Kicking his legs, and trying to get up to the surface, his arms moved at his sides as if they could push the water out of his way - he wished he could. But when he broke the surface he was taking great gulps of air as he swam for a floating bit of ice and grabbed onto it. The dice by some dumb luck was safe in all this. It was sitting there innocently. "******** thing." He gasped out before grabbing it to roll, letting it land on the ice he was using to keep himself above water. Treding water towards the edge of this square so he could get to the next, because he needed out of here. He had already been freezing but now he seriously figured he'd be sick by the end of this. There was no way he was missing out on being sick.
Finally reaching the edge of the square he hauled himself up, arms shaking and teeth chattering, he slithered across the square and into the next. When he finally pulled himself up and onto his feet he was stumbling and shivering as he madeh is way to the end of this mess. He would, with any hope, simply go home and not need to do something to earn a trip back home. "Finished." He threw the dice down on the last square as he stood there. "I finished this ******** game."

Standing there, glaring at nothing, he was shivering as he waited for thigns to change. When they did it was as sudden and jarring as his arrival here...but worse. He was freezing and shivering and it was ******** October so he was met with cold air and a wind and it just had him hunching into himself as he took a moment to look around, reminding himself of where he was and how far from home, and he hurried himself as fast as he could. He needed to get home - as fast as possible. He needed a hot shower and bed - asap.
