It was a lovely fall night.
Truly picturesque. A gentle breeze, tinged with the scent of dried leaves and something lightly spiced. The sky was on the cloudier side, tinted an almost purple-pinky color from the bright city lights, despite how late it was. Oh, but he was a city boy, so while some called it ‘light pollution,’ Kitty thought it was just lovely. These were ideal hunting grounds.
“I think you should be careful,” the Guardian, Mirosnjha warned softly against the senshi’s ear. He was perched along Kitty’s shoulders, but his companion was slight and clad in nothing useful for hooking his claws into to keep balance. And Miros needed the support. Especially if (when…) Kitty’s ‘hunt’ bore fruit.
This was far from Mirosnjha’s favorite activity. Being ‘in the field’ as it were, wasn’t exactly his forte. He much preferred to awaken senshi to their true potential, give out pens, join them in explorations of their worlds… Combatting the Negaverse… Well, he was only a Mauvian, not much of a soldier. But he mostly accepted that he had a duty to make full use of his abilities, and he could conceal their auras, to help keep them safe…
Kitty was hardly worried about safety, but Mirosnjha still wouldn’t let someone even as bloodthirsty as Kitty fight alone.
“Oh, I am being very careful, of course,” the Senshi promised in a sweetly melodious tone.
‘Careful’ was keeping a Guardian with him so he couldn’t be easily detected by the enemy. But Kitty was hardly avoiding his foes. Stealth should make him a more dangerous opponent, someone who could take down the Negaverse, even if his world wouldn’t give him more than it already had. He could feel one nearby. The agent came into view, and even Kitty couldn’t contain all of his surprise over what stood before him. “What is that thing.”
The Mauvian’s ears flattened, tucking himself as hard and low as possible against Kitty’s neck. “A Half-Youma,” Mirosnjha answered in soft rumble. “Truly one of the Negaverse’s most sad and unfortunate creations.”
It was tall, horned, discolored even under the darkness of night. Face stuck with spikes and a misshapen, black nose, like an animal’s. If it had felt like a normal Youma, Kitty wouldn’t have even questioned it. “It feels like a normal agent.” Pathetic lieutenant. Shouldn’t even be a difficult opponent. But it looked like that... and he’d taken a starseed. They weren’t so close that Kitty would’ve realized it immediately, but there was definitely someone on the ground, and the half-youma had a gem in his hand.
He looked like an actual demon, stalking around in the middle of the night, taking people’s souls.
Mirosnjha echoed what Kitty could clearly see. “He took a starseed…” the Mauvian whispered, voice wavering.
And then sharp golden eyes whipped toward them, large ears flickering at the comment, and Kitty knew ‘stealth’ was off the table. The Half-Youma could see them. Could hear them.
“That was so messy,” Kitty drawled softly, eyeing the boy and his starseed prize.

He couldn’t feel them. The long tips of Magnesia’s ears twitched toward the sound of a voice before his eyes followed. No aura, even though he definitely recognized the getup of a senshi and its cat. Well, that wasn’t the deal, though? If there was an enemy nearby, he was supposed to be able to tell before they got too close. He was supposed to be able to feel them and decide if he wanted to engage before they were already on top of him.
That didn’t happen this time, and he was faced with a senshi and a cat before he could think on what to do about it. Magnesia didn’t have the skill or experience to fight anything he might come upon, and he didn’t know enough about senshi to have a full picture of what he was dealing with here…
Sue him for being freaking new at this!
This senshi didn’t seem alarmed or frightened to see him, though. Confident. Had he dealt with a half-youma before? Or was he just used to seeing nonhumans after dealing with all the space senshi he was probably friends with?
Magnesia passed his tongue over the pointed tips of his teeth as he regarded the pair standing in front of him. “I don’t think it was any messier than usual.” He wouldn’t say he’d only been doing this for a couple weeks; it wouldn’t do for one of them to prey on his inexperience. And he definitely wasn’t letting them take anything from him either. Furrowing his brow and growling out a warning snarl, Magnesia clenched the gem hard enough in his fist that he could hear a faint splintering of glass. He’d break it before even the suggestion could be made that he return it.
And now even if they could fend him off, they’d only be getting a broken starseed back. Not that they’d get anything if they didn’t, either. He felt pretty secure in his advantage.
“Whaddyu want?” Magnesia demanded. “I wasn’t even out looking for your kind, but if you keep bothering me, I don’t mind bringing more than one starseed back to Negaspace. And a Mauvian.” They were supposed to be the most special. Magnesia was sure it wouldn’t be anything but welcome if he dragged a Guardian back to Negaspace to be corrupted. Even an unwilling one.

The boy was aggressive.
That shouldn’t have been surprising. He’d as much as killed someone.
But the ‘talking it out’ tactic had a certain success rate that Kitty thought it might have some value, since he’d already been seen. Not with these kinds of agents, apparently. Fine, fine, that suited him. He wasn’t above trickery and was perfectly happy to make his enemies think that he sympathized with them before he stabbed them, but… He had other tricks.
He stepped forward. The sound of his high heels against the dark and craggly concrete of this run-down parking lot echoed loudly. Over his shoulder, Mirosnjha plastered down to him, digging into his bare shoulder with the pointed tips of his claws. “What are you doing?” The Mauvian demanded, and his tone sounded a bit like a warning. Kitty expected he was frightened.
Frightened of a Lieutenant? Ridiculous. Even if he did look like this?
“‘Bother?’” Kitty hummed, dragging a well-manicured nail across his own cheek and tapping his lip thoughtfully. “No, no, I would never even imagine getting in your way. You go right ahead. Do as you were.” With his magic simmering on his tongue, the next words were a little more than a suggestion, “Bring that starseed back to the Negaverse.”
His smile was disarmingly dazzling. All plush pink lips and white teeth and charming dimples. “I would hate to deprive them.”

Something pricked at the back of Magnesia’s neck. Something like a warning. This encounter was off- he’d practically killed someone in front of this senshi, and the reaction hadn’t been quite what he expected. Magnesia held himself completely stiff, shaggy blond hair falling in his eyes while fingers curled tightly around the starseed in his grasp.
Senshi came across him kind of infrequently, to be honest. He’d had only a scattered handful of dealings with them, and the experiences were a generally-negative mixed bag. Sometimes immediately hostile, sometimes morbidly curious. Maybe being what he was took the talk of ’you know what you’re doing is wrong!’ off the table and left his opponents only to see an unreasonable youma. And that was fine. He didn’t mind fighting them, didn’t mind showing off his youma skills. It was kind of thrilling, even!
They didn’t usually goad him into hurting people, didn’t accept what he was or what he did. Not that Magnesia thought that was what was happening here! There were no admonishments from this one, but the chilly smile and too-light cut of the senshi’s tone didn’t portray any sense of acceptance. ’Bring that starseed back to the Negaverse…’
Magnesia didn’t trust it. He didn’t know what would happen if he did just that: turned and went about his business, but he didn’t think any good would come if it. Whatever this pink senshi thought he was gonna achieve with those words, Magnesia would make sure he didn’t.
His fist curled a bit tighter, a clawed thumb rubbing up the sleek edge of the starseed he held. It wouldn’t be going back to its original host, and he couldn’t take it to Negaspace if that’s what this senshi wanted, so…
He touched it to his lips.
Hard and cool and tasteless, like putting a piece of glass in his mouth. This wasn’t the first time he’d eaten a starseed, but it was a hazy memory. Other things in that moment struck a stronger chord with him, leaving this moment of feeling what amounted to someone’s soul on his tongue- novel. Strange. Not inherently unpleasant, but honestly nothing fantastic, either. Teeth crunched through the gem. His eyes scrunched up, feeling a bit like he was prematurely biting down on a hard candy that was a little too tough for him.
When he swallowed, it was like lightning in his throat, something that tingled all the way down and spread out through every one of his veins.
Magnesia was about to take care of this ******** senshi permanently.
