The Face in the Moon (4) : The night seems darker than it should be, but it’s been a cloudy day so it’s not too surprising, unless you’re also factoring in the strange sensation that someone is watching you. You won’t see anyone if you look around, but the longer you’re outside, the more intense and unnerving things become. And then–if you look up–you see why. The moon that you know has been replaced with a devilish face, with wide, piercing eyes and a devilish grimace. No matter where you go, it’s watching you–and it even seems like it’s unusually large in the sky. Maybe others around you have noticed the same thing–or maybe it’s just you. Maybe it’s in your mind, but if you stare up at the face for too long, you begin to hear a low growling, or a shrill static. Its eyes are hypnotic and fearsome. Whether it disappears behind the clouds or the horizon, at some point it is gone. The strangeness fades with the moon, but there’s still no real explanation. It doesn’t photograph, and nothing about it can be recorded. You just have to hope it was a one time nightmare.
Magion was out again, and her eyes were on the Moon. It was the same as it had been the other night. The creepy face. The creepy smile. The pleased expression the…
She shuddered, remembering what had happened the last time this thing had been in the sky. Remembered finding the cube…being stuck in…in that…that world...
Her knees were trembling, and when she felt the aura of Chaos coming from nearby, she stiffened and pried her eyes away from the horrible, awful face, and turned towards the feeling of wrong. Everything was feeling wrong. She was feeling wrong.
So she did the only thing she could think of, and prayed that it would work.
“Relax!” Maybe…maybe if she was lucky, it would at least put the dark clad person into a better mood…

Relax! Magion says the name of her attack and extends her hand. A large bubble comes out of it, and can travel up to ten feet. It will encase up to one person if it touches them, and when they are encased, they feel a sense of calm and relaxation. It is up to the player what they see or hear, but it is something that will make them relax. In the bubble they can not be harmed, and the magic lasts for 30 seconds. It can be used twice per battle.

There were times when Hekate had to wonder if someone in her past life had jinxed her, and future reincarnations, with how bad her luck seemed to be when it came to running into members of opposite factions. Today was no different than previous encounters, an absolute happenstance where she had no idea anyone else was powered nearby when she decided to go on patrol.
Her hope was that luck would continue as it had been over the last few weeks and she would encounter another Dark Mirror Senshi like Leona or Xihe. Despite some animosity, even a Negaverse Agent or Corrupt would have been preferred over anyone aligned to the White Moon.
But being the Senshi of Jinxes and a jinx herself seemed to be synonymous and interchangeable because luck never seemed to last long enough. Which is perhaps why the only warning she had that she was not alone when powering up in what she thought was a safe place was the sudden large bubble coming towards her.
The other aura hadn't fully registered yet when Hekate instinctively jumped back, letting out a startled yelp as her heel snagged on a loose rock. Her ankle twisted, sending her knee buckling and causing her to stumble sideways into a bush. To add insult to injury the bubble dissipated before reaching where she had been standing.
“Seriously?” Annoyed but glad she hadn’t summoned the wraith from its crystal yet, she picked herself up out of the bush and pulled a few dead leaves from her hair. “How ironic, you telling me to relax…” She scoffed, still very agitated from being startled like that. “Perhaps you should lead by example,” Hekate commented pointedly.

Well…that had been a waste of magic. And Magion swallowed and then looked back up at the Moon, her stomach sinking when she saw that it still had a face...and still looked just as sinister as before. Now all that was needed was the cube and…
Something like a whine escaped from the Senshi’s throat and she looked at the other Senshi, shaking her head and shrugging.
“You…I was startled…you…I…”
Finally, she just gestured up to the Moon again, as though it would explain everything that she could not.
“I don’t understand. It was like this before and then misfortune befell me…”

“Are you mad?” Not angry but mentally insane… Talking in frantic and fragmented sentences as if she were finishing the thought in her head. Speaking out loud but appearing as if she was having a conversation with herself.
“Listen, I’m not a licensed therapist, nor am I particularly inclined to help someone who suddenly attacked me.” Although, I'm certain the Behavioral Health Unit at Destiny City Memorial Hospital would gladly accept you. Hekate mentally added as she took another step away from the White Moon Senshi but her insistent gesturing at the moon gave her enough reason to glance up towards the unusually darkened sky.
“What the-” her mouth remained agape, eyebrows knitting together in a confused expression. “That - that’s not right…” In place of the familiar man in the moon she was used to seeing was a devilish face with wide, piercing eyes and a wicked grimace. “I don’t know what magic you used, but I suggest you stop it now.” Hekate demanded feeling increasingly unnerved by the uncomfortably hypnotic eyes that stared back down at her.
Hekate felt a cold rush run down her spine and in the wake of the tremor a trail of goose bumps trailed back up and along the length of both arms. In her peripherals she could see a thin cloud creep towards the moon, a soon-to-be shroud to obscure it's wicked vision.

“I didn’t! It was like this before…several days ago I…I was. You startled me. My magic does not harm!” Magion felt as though she were going to start crying. This was…well. It was all just falling apart. And she felt as though she were falling apart. “I didn’t do this…I can’t do something like this…this is…”
Her head felt as though it were spinning. She wanted to sit down. To cry. To vomit. The amount of discomfort that Magion in was outstanding, and not in a good way. She wanted Bifrost here. Wanted to be held.
“Something took me the last time…something. I was…It was…”
Tears finally began to leak down her face and she shook her head. “It was terrible. I was trapped. Stuck in this…it…I had to keep throwing the cube…”
Even to her own ears, when she knew what she was trying to say. Trying to convey…it sounded…strange. Stupid. Unnatural.
But of course. That moon itself was unnatural. “I do not like it…”

The thin veil of clouds obscured the moon’s hypnotically evil gaze granting Hekate a moment’s reprieve, just long enough for her to look away and back at the White Moon Senshi who was falling apart in front of her. Sobs wracking her body as she crumpled to the ground in terror.
I’m a veterinarian, not a psychologist... or therapist… I’m not equipped to deal with this. If it had been Lenka before her, or even Leona, then she would have stepped forward and offered a gentle hug and shoulder to cry on to comfort and soothe them. But not this bumbling brat that threw magic so haphazardly. It didn’t matter if it did no harm, the abrupt stumble into the bush had left some scratches on the palms of both hands, and right thigh, which still hurt.
“Sorry, Miss. But your problems are your own.” Hekate shrugged just as the moon above showed brightly once more now that the cloud had passed by. “With all this misfortune you’re rambling on about, maybe you’re just a Jinx!” Fair is fair, or so she reasoned, as she reached a hand out towards the senshi, summoning a 3-inch wide wispy purple trail that snaked its way towards the crying girl.
Name - Jinx. Execution - Hekate extends her right arm, holds her hand up, and says the name of her attack. A three-inch-wide, whispy, purple trail (Think the Evil Queen's Curse from Once Upon a Time in appearance, but to a much smaller scale.) snakes its way from Hekate's palm to her victim, absorbed through the nose, ears, and mouth. Effect - The affected party will experience effects of bad luck in terms of battle, including less effective attacks and difficulty accurately attacking targets.(In the event of a dice battle, results are halved then rounded up to the nearest integer) Use Limits - This attack may be used three times per battle and affects one person. Power Limits - The effects of this attack last for twenty-five seconds. Weaknesses - Her attack moves at a casual walking speed and can follow a target up to 8 feet away. After 8' of distance it dissipates.

A jinx? What did that mean? It didn’t sound very nice, and when Magion saw the magic coming towards her, she froze, eyes going wide.
Senshi shouldn’t be attacking one another. Even those lost to Chaos…this…
As the magic entered her, her eyes grew wide and filled once more with tears. “Have…is this…did you poison me?”
Magion was trembling violently now, unsure of what to do. At this rate…another one of those cubes would show up and she would be pulled back there again. She hadn’t wanted to fight. She hadn’t wanted to do anything, and she should have just gone home. Shouldn’t have even come out tonight but…
But now she was here. And she was going to die and the moon was going to eat her and…
And everything was awful!

“Poison?” Genuinely confused, Hekate’s head canted to the side. Wouldn’t she feel sick if it was poison? she shrugged and shook her head in response. “To borrow what you said earlier ‘my magic does not harm’ however, I would advise against getting up too quickly.”
Her lips twisted into a knowing smirk just as the temporary cloud cover passed in front of the moon. Her gaze flicked upward but caught herself from falling back into its hypnotic stare by squeezing her eyes shut and turning around quickly.
Perhaps… too quickly.
Once more she found herself stumbling over something unseen and again landed in the same small shrub she just picked herself up out of before. “You’ve got to be ******** kidding me…” she seethed, lips pressed into a thin line. Much to her chagrin, as Hekate rolled over there was trash beside her that went unnoticed before; an empty chip bag, a CapriSun pouch with a yellow straw that had been chewed on, and a dice.
It was a peculiar thing to see since of the three items on the ground, the small box-shaped object felt most out of place. A part of a set that someone was likely sad was missing given it looked like it had veins of gemstone etched through the wooden texture.
She should have left it well enough alone, whoever lost it would come looking for it eventually. But without much of a thought, lithe fingers wrapped around the small dice, and as she stood up darkness fell around her. The Senshi’s tears faded into silence, the bright moon disappeared into nothingness.
“I don’t think I’m in Destiny City anymore.” She tapped her heels just in case but somehow knew nothing would happen because well, her shoes weren’t red.

Magion stared in absolute horror as suddenly the other Senshi was just. Gone. Poof. Just as she had under the last creepy moon.
A whimper escaped her lips and her eyes filled with sudden tears, worried about the woman in black, worried for herself. Afraid of what could happen next.
Slowly, carefully, Magion turned away, closing her eyes so as not to have to see the Moon or any magical cubes or anything…
