The Gargoyles (3) : Even when you thought you’d seen the last of them, it seems like you’re never really in the clear. A while back, there was an infestation of awful gargoyle creatures–and while every Star Festival had its fair share of oddities, this one seems to have introduced a permanent infestation upon the city. Maybe you see them perched on the roof, or hiding in the shadows, but not all of these grotesque creatures are satisfied with just escaping their interdimensional prison–some of them still have a bone to pick. They seem stony; some of them will watch with a penetrative gaze and never strike to attack, but some of them will dive down to target anyone who gets too close. The monsters come in an array of sizes and shapes, but they are no more than half the size of their target. Their goal is uncertain, but they will crumble into a pile of rocks and dust if struck hard enough.
This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are at least two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character and cannot solo this with two of your own characters. This does not count as the ‘one youma battle’ per stage for growth. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.
“Gargoyles can fly, right?” he said, thinking of some old cartoons he watched growing up and recalling such scenes very vaguely.
As if in answer to his question, he felt his whole body shift upward and off of the ground, and when he looked down he saw that this particular gargoyle had actually gotten up.
The Senshi froze, and before he could even try to slide off of the thing, it launched itself forward and promptly began to try bucking him off. The best he could do at that point was hold on for dear life, screaming profanities the entire time.

Magion…liked Earth! She did! It was wonderful and Mary was here, but…she had to admit there were things here that she didn’t like and didn’t understand…
That pretty, shining die for one…it had…
Kidnapped her and she just…
She had been jumpy ever since. Tonight she had gone for a walk, wanting to clear her head and enjoy the cool breezes, and she had felt another Senshi nearby, and that had made Magion want to talk to them, but as she scampered over, the smile bright on her face…she saw that…that…
“...Is that…a monster?”
Her voice was raised so that the other Senshi could hear her, and she wasn’t sure…just what she was looking at, but he clearly didn’t seem to be doing very well.

It was his first time on bull ride of sort, and he figured he could pat himself on the back later, but for the moment Urda hung on as tight as he could, hoping he wouldn’t get flung off of the thing and wind up getting hurt enough that he wouldn’t be able to play soccer. Lesson learned about getting on the back of anything of questionable magical origins…
When he felt the blip of an Order aura nearby, he quietly hoped for it to come closer.
A hope that was realized when it seemed to get closer, and he eventually heard someone call out to him.
“Yeah!” he cried out, looking around frantically until he saw who it was. “Yeah! Monster! Not a friendly! If you can shoot it with magic, please shoot it with magic!”

Shoot…the monster with magic? Magion hesitated, for she could but honestly…that would leave this Senshi more exposed and he would fall and it would just…it wouldn’t end up being good…
But…would he understand when she used her magic on him...was that something that was taboo on Earth? Maybe she should have asked Bifrost before this became a real issue…still.
“...Oh…well okay!”
Holding her hand out, she concentrated on the Senshi and focused. “Relax!”
…Nothing happened, and for a second, alarm shot through Magion. Was she rusty? Was that it…it had been…it had been a long time since she had used her magic but…
“Relax!” This time, the bubble slowly made its way from her hand and surrounded the other Senshi.
…That. Had been more difficult than it should have been. “You will be safe in there! Allow yourself to fall!”its_ p a o Relax! Magion says the name of her attack and extends her hand. A large bubble comes out of it, and can travel up to ten feet. It will encase up to one person if it touches them, and when they are encased, they feel a sense of calm and relaxation. It is up to the player what they see or hear, but it is something that will make them relax. In the bubble they can not be harmed, and the magic lasts for 30 seconds. It can be used twice per battle.

He saw the bubble coming, and registered the words she said to him, but Urda still had his doubts.
He didn’t have a choice but to take a chance on the senshi’s magic, though, and if she said he was safe and could fall once he was inside this bubble…well. That had to be good enough. The Senshi continued to hold on until the bubble fully encased him. The calm that took over almost immediately took over surprised him, and even while getting bucked about by the gargoyle the Senshi couldn’t help but smile.
“You said I could fall, right?” he asked, but didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, he allowed the gargoyle to send him flying forward, over its head and in the general direction of the other senshi. Sure enough, even though he landed on his back he didn’t seem to feel a thing.
Meanwhile, the gargoyle noticed that it had finally succeeded. It was clearly still mad, though, as it made a dash straight for the two senshi in its sights.

Okay…okay so at least the other Senshi was safe…and now…now she had this…this creature coming towards her, and Magion…her magic just wasn’t for things like this!
There was a rock on the ground and she picked it up and threw it with all her might at the approaching gargoyle. She wasn’t expecting much, but hopefully…it would give the boy the chance to use his own magic and save the day.
“You…have magic that can help with this? I…all I can do is what I did, and it doesn’t allow whoever is in my magic to be hurt! As you have seen…”
The panic in her voice was growing more pronounced, and honestly…
The whole idea of just turning around and running...sounded…good.

”Worth a shot,” he said, crouching down and resting his palm on the ground. Focusing for just a moment, he willed the name of his attack in his mind, and he watched as his little thorn shrub quickly grew around the gargoyle, which had momentarily stopped when she threw the rock at it.
“I…don’t think it’ll do anything to actually smash that thing, but we’ve got about twenty-ish seconds to make a run for it.”
Not wanting to waste too much time thinking, he quickly grabbed the other’s hand and darted off, hoping she would follow his lead. If not, well…he wouldn’t just leave her, but he wasn’t sure what he could do to beat the gargoyle.
Urda Thorn Shrub! He summons a Blackthorn shrub by placing the palm of his hand on the ground while facing his intended target. The shrub rapidly grows around the intended target, trapping them from the waist and below. While inside the shrub, the target will experience the sensation of being pricked by little thorns for 25 seconds, after which the shrub withers away. It feels similar to the tingles that come when blood circulation is restored to a limb that’s fallen asleep. It’s possible to escape, though not without sustaining actual physical injury from the thorns in the shrub. The injuries would largely be minor, though if one is extra careless it could be a little bit worse than that. Can be used up to 3 times in battle.

Magion allowed herself to be dragged off, and honestly, she wasn’t upset with the thought of running. She went as quickly as possible and when she no longer could hear the gargoyle, she slowed, trying to catch her breath.
“...Is that…was that something that you have encountered before?” She shuddered and bent over slightly, still trying to catch her breath.
After a moment she straightened up. “”What…who are you? I’m Magion…Senshi of Relaxation…did that creature hurt you? I…am not able to heal, but I have some…”
She rummaged in her subspace pocket and pulled out a pink box of Hello Kitty band-aids. “I have some of these that Bifrost gave to me! It’s very cute and it stops some small wounds! So I can try to help!”

”Nope,” came Urda’s quick, if winded, reply. He wasn’t out of shape by any means, but between the adrenaline and the panic of having to deal with a surprise gargoyle-shaped bull ride, it might have been more strange to not be winded.
When he did eventually catch his breath, the senshi straightened himself out and let out a heavy sigh of relief. “Ah, Urda, Senshi of Blackthorn,” he returned the greeting. “And no, I’m not hurt at all. Maybe my pride, a little bit, ‘cause it got the drop on me, but a band-aid won’t do anything for that.”
He smiled at that, extending a hand to formalize the introduction. “Seriously, though, thanks a lot for the save back there. Don’t think I could have gotten away unscathed without your help.”

“Good! I am very glad that you’re not hurt. That…was frightening, and I’m glad that we were able to get away…I apologize that my magic isn’t really…good for fighting...but.” Magion had been able to help. And it made her happy that she was able to. “Would you like to be friends? Perhaps we can go on a patrol again sometime? I have this!”
She withdrew her Senshi phone, pleased that she remembered what do do with it, she took Urda’s photo and beamed.
“Do be careful too, won’t you? You should try and avoid those things in the future…and I will too!” It was good advice, and something she could absolutely follow.

“It was definitely weird,” he said, scratching his head as he tried to wrap it around what exactly just happened. It wasn’t a youma, but it was about as ornery as he remembered those things to be so maybe it was a cousin of some kind?
Or DC during the holidays was really just that bad now.
“But sure, let’s be friends! I could use some more, I just moved back for college so I don’t really know anyone again. I’ve got my teammates and one old friend from elementary school…oh, and my cousin. That’s about it.”
He gave a brilliant smile when she moved to take a photo, after which he did the same for her. “I’ll try to be careful. I was just having a bit of fun, clearly that bit me in the a**, but.” He shrugged at that. “Live and learn, right? And hey, if we start patrolling together we’ll have each other’s backs if something like that happens again.”
It sounded like a good plan to him, at least.

“Yes! I would like that very much! Earth friends are important, at least I think so. And Senshi friends. Right now I mostly only have my Bifrost but!”
Now she had Urda, and so excited was she, she simply nodded eagerly and patted the young man on the shoulder before skipping off without another word, humming happily.
Should she have said goodbye? Most likely, but right now niceties like that were far from her mind. She had a friend! She hadn’t let him die!
Life was so good!

He was about to ask who Bifrost was, but before he could the senshi was…skipping away.
Urda blinked after her retreating figure, his expression momentarily a cross between curious and confused, though it quickly turned into amusement. She seemed happy about the exchange, and they were both safe. It was hard to ask for more than that.
She was already completely out of sight when Urder finally turned and headed home. That was enough “fun” for the night.
