Nacrite was tired. Mildly cranky too. Big nothingburger patrols were simply not her thing. And this one was the biggest nothingburger of all. It was dull. Completely devoid of anything interesting.
In short, a waste of her time.
There weren’t even any handy homeless to siphon energy away from in this area. Kicking irritably at a bit of rock on the pavement, she sighed and considered her options. Her patrol was nearly done. She could power down and go home. Or she could keep going and hope that she found something interesting. Her heart wanted the former, but her (reluctant) sense of duty insisted on the latter. So, she’d be patrolling a little longer. But she didn’t want a fight. Her hand was still healing, after all.
Turning the corner, she felt a faint brush of… something against her senses. Order. Probably about as strong as hers… Well. She’d asked for interesting and apparently the universe was in a giving mood. Following the aura like a hound on the hunt, Nacrite eventually found herself in the back alleys of the shopping district. And the person she wanted was somewhere very close by.
Taking a chance, she called out, “The only reason to be back here is if you’re dumpster diving through the different Boutiques’ discards. So, if that’s the case, you may as well show me what you’ve found.”

The small alien in the dumpster froze in the act of digging through a torn bag of discard clothing, his shoulders hunching around his flattened ears as he drew his crossed legs closer to him.
This dumpster had been relatively clean, which was the only reason Cernunnos was inside of it. It hadn't smelled particularly rank, like some of them did, and that had perked his curiosity. Instead of refuse inside, he had found what he would have called useful items, even if closer inspection saw some of them damaged. Why did humans throw out stuff like this? Most of it was perfectly good... It had been curiosity more than anything, really.
Unfortunately, being inside the dumpster had made it harder to keep awareness of what was outside of the dumpster, and somehow (not surprisingly), someone had snuck up on him. Someone who felt just a bit icky the way so many of the chaos people around here felt. Not good. His options were not great, either. Hiding had a low chance of actually working considering the outside person had called out to him, presumably knowing he was there. Running meant climbing out of the dumpster first, and it was one of those really tall kinds with the lid on top and the window in the side. Exiting either way would slow him down, making it more likely he'd be caught. Damn. Maybe, and that was a slim maybe, he could talk his way out of it... the person hadn't sounded particularly aggressive... yet.
Grabbing up a handful of discarded shirts with splashy blue splatters over the fronts, he stuck his arm out and up, waving them back and forth.
"Shirts!" He called, his voice metallic through the walls of his hiding place. "Bags... bottles covered with smelly, goopy stuff. Most of it seems fine, so I don't know why you people throw it away."
Cernunnos tried to keep his voice upbeat and friendly as he eased his way out through the small opening, stretching a short leg down to try to find the ground with his toes.

Eyes narrowing as what was decidedly not a human emerged from the dumpster, Nacrite held her peace and her tongue for a moment. Unlike the tall, dark skinned alien from a few nights ago, this one was very small. They also seemed much more timid and less likely to try and punch her in the face.
These were good things at the moment.
Keeping her own condition in mind as well as the memory of that other alien actually acting, well, honorably, she decided that she wouldn’t attack this one. The universe could look at it as her good deed for the day. Besides, there was no real satisfaction in beating up anyone who looked this small and weedy and who acted as if the slightest scowl would terrify them into cardiac arrest. But that didn’t mean she had to be nice, either.
“Hmmph! At least one of you lot has the guts to put yourself where you truly belong, darling,” she cooed. “Come along, be a good little abomination and bring them up. I admit to being curious as to what gets tossed out from the designer shops.”
She had no idea what to make of ‘goopy, smelly’ bottles, but it was probably some sort of skin care crap. And the bottles being coated, hrmm. Something had probably cracked in shipping. Or, that was what she could vaguely remember from her time on the retail front lines when she was a kid.
“Don’t bother with the bottles. Unless you want to smell like a maiden fair who just finished ******** a flower field,” she said. “Let’s see these shirts of yours and I can probably point out why they’d be disposed of. Bring the bags too, darling.”
Were they both technically about to engage in crime? Well, yes. Technically. But the longer she thought, she more she recalled from her retail drone days. Most things could likely be fixed or washed and be fine. And she was not above ‘rescuing’ any items that seemed worthy.

He didn't really understand the first part, but 'abomination'? For a moment, Cernunnos was offended, enough that it pushed past the wariness. A frown crossed his face between he forced it smooth again, but his ears stayed pressed back into his hair.
He was hardly an abomination. He was, quite literally, a physical ideal for his people. The only thing that set him apart was his senshi starseed, and while you could maybe call him an oddity for that, his people had seen it as a blessing. It had made him special, and ordered his life around the abilities it gave him. Just because he wasn't human, on a human world... but arguing with her, when she was clearly stronger and probably more ready to fight about it, would do him no good. Far better to just... ignore the insult.
Obedient, if not exactly quick to jump to it, Cernunnos pulled out the plastic bags full of clothes and tossed them over, hitting the ground somewhere between them. Some were torn open where he'd been digging through them, but others were still closed and pristine. He had no idea what he pulled out, but that didn't really matter so much as giving the woman what she wanted so that, hopefully, she'd be satisfied and leave him alone. He certainly had enough to worry about in his life as it was.
"So this is a normal thing around here?" He said, trying to fill the silence. He could remark about how his clothing had always been provided for him, so he'd had very little experience with it on his own world... but was still pretty sure they hadn't thrown away useful things for no reason he could tell. He wasn't entirely sure how she'd feel about that, aggressive as she was. "I suppose you probably don't have much to do with trash though. Someone as pretty as you are likely has other people fawning over you to climb through trash for you instead. Or buying you new things, instead."
