Destiny City is a large place, with a large population. It’s not uncommon to find a lost item here or there. Maybe a keychain, an earring, a book.

But, a six sided die? That’s different.

While traveling through Destiny City, you find a strange little object. It looks like old, stained wood, but something shiny in it catches your eye. How could you resist picking it up? But then, maybe you've found one of these dice before. Maybe you remember the Gameboard, already.

The next thing he knew, he was back in Destiny City, at a random park, no less.

Urda took a quick look around, and heaved a sigh. He had no idea where he was, and was about to power down so he could get his cell phone when he saw it. A simple die just a few steps away from him. Wooden from the looks of it, with something in it catching the light and shining just enough to grab his attention.

He was about to move toward it when the darkness began to close in all around him.

”Oh, great. More darkness,” the Senshi grumbled as he looked around once he was fully engulfed by it. “Note to self: put a flashlight in the subspace.” He was about to comment more when a path began to light up ahead of him, and once he could properly see, he saw the die sitting directly in front of him now.

That was telling enough, and based on what he was seeing he figured there was only one thing to be done to move forward. So, he picked up the die and quickly rolled it.

Space 6
You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll.

A satisfied grin settled on his face when he saw the number come up, and after gingerly picking up the little die he made his way over to the space.

Whatever confidence in his luck he had in that moment was quickly cut down when he heard the shrill humming sounds as he entered the new space. It forced him to slow down his pace, gradually at first, until the first slice. He winced and glanced down at the bleeding line on his arm. It wasn’t like he could stop moving, and looking up he saw how much further he was from the other side of the space…

“Damnit,” he murmured, then moved as quickly as he dared.

It was almost one to one the entire time: one step, one slice. By the time he made it to the end he was covered in red lines, rolling the die as soon as he got there.

The sooner he got out of here, the better.

Urda suffered one more cut on his way out of the space, and he bit down a swear as he hurried on to his next designated space.

Space 10
A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

He wrinkled his nose at the smell that hit him as soon as he stepped inside it, and when he heard a squelching sound beneath his feet he looked down, seeing the fact that he was sinking before actually feeling it.

Somehow, that made it infinitely worse.

Moving quickly, he did his best to get as far across the swamp as possible before he sank too deep in it and couldn’t move any further. He was about halfway and waist deep when that happened, and he was forced to roll before he couldn’t move his arms anymore.

“Come on, come on…”

The new roll must have stopped him from sinking any further, and he made his way off of this space and onto a new one, all the while grumbling about the mud that now stubbornly clung to his person in all the absolutely wrong places.

Space 14
The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon.

The Senshi flinched upon walking into the new space, finding his footing shaky for some strange reason. Glancing down, he noticed why and immediately rolled again. It was a large web, and there was only one thing that could have possibly woven it, and he had absolutely zero intention of waiting around to see if it would make an appearance.

He made a run for it as soon as he could, hoping he was at least close to the end of…whatever this was.

Space 19
You’re so close! Almost at the end! But the space you’re standing on shifts and shakes and seems to crumble beneath you. You have to hold on; there’s nowhere to fall but down into the deep abyss. If you manage to hang on for long enough, you find some invisible purchase and can pull yourself back up, but it’s quite the ordeal. Make sure you don’t get cut on falling spaces! The ground restores itself once you roll again.

Unfortunately for him, even if he was close–and he was, he could see the end just ahead of him as he stepped onto the new space–shaky, unstable ground seemed to be a theme for this side quest. As soon as he took that first step the space shook violently, knocking him off balance as it suddenly crumbled beneath him.

If not for his quick reflexes he would have likely fallen straight down into the abyss that opened up beneath him, but thankfully he managed to catch some kind of a ledge just as the ground he was standing on fell out from beneath him.

“Oh, come on!” he cried out as he held on, his frustration mounting. And who could really blame him…

When it felt safe, he pulled himself back up and rolled again.

When the ground became solid again, he exited this space, grumbling curses all along the way.

Space 20
The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best.

It semed he made it to the end, and he heaved an equally annoyed and relieved sigh as he was slowly basked in some kind of aura. He didn’t care to notice if it was pretty or weird or anything else. He just wanted to get out of there, call to check on Abby, and head home so he could get cleaned up.

Irritated as he was about it, he still pocketed the die. It was pretty, and at least some kind of proof of the ordeal he’d just suffered for...who knows what reason. He could wonder about it later; for now he was just glad to be done with it.

With any luck, he wouldn't encounter this kind of thing ever again.
