Bundled up against the cold night air, Aloysius was glad that Liam was alright with coming with him on his adventure to the bakery tonight. Heading there from work at the university, he was still a bit on edge from the holiday magic that was lingering. He'd heard about the gargoyles but had been lucky enough not to see them himself. Probably because they hadn't lingered close to the university, instead finding their homes on buildings they were more able to blend in by sitting on.
"Thank you, darling, for meeting me, we can head to the bakery then go out to dinner maybe?" Looking over at them, he curled his hand in theirs. Everything so far had seemed calm, other than the few students of his who had decided their grades were unacceptable. It happened more often as midterms came and went and when the students who had skipped realized that they were missing important information from his lectures.
Out of the corner of his eye, he did notice something, an odd pair of dice laying amongst the fallen leaves near the edge of the sidewalk. Stepping closer to it, he was certain they weren't poker dice or dice from a casino but they looked normal otherwise.

When Aloysius had asked him to join him on a bakery trip, he really did love the baked goods they produced, he'd had Desiree cover him so he could power up and mirror walk right to the others office so they could go together from the uni grounds. Dressed for the cooling weather the blond was pleased to be walking at the others side, a hand holding onto one of Aloysius'.
"Dinner also? It sounds like a surprise date." Liam commented idly at the others side, his fingers giving the others hand a gentle squeeze. "Did you have a place in mind for dinner or something you wanted?" Questioning even as he was pulled along by Aloysius who was headed towards something...something on the ground. Watching as they bent to inspect something Liam did the same, slowly, wondering why a pair of dice were on the ground. "Some child dropped game pieces?" Though that didn't make sense really, why and how would dice be hanging around on the ground? Why would a child be walking around here with a boardgame, with an open box or no box at all, where the dice could get lost so easily.
"Dice?" Reaching out for one of them, poking at it, he wasn't expecting what came next. A dark area and a path of squares leading off to an end...and nothing around the path - not surrounding area. Where in the hell was he?

"Yes, though maybe a surprise for you since I had been thinking about it today as a nice break after the other day." Things were as good as they could be after Liam had helped assure him of things, it didn't help him with the fact this holiday season always felt like it was out to get him but at least they were here with him in case anything tried.
His fingers brushed the other dice and when he blinked the pavement was gone and both he and Liam were somewhere else. A panic had set in for the few moments their hand had slipped out of his before they were united again but it didn't settle down as he looked ahead and then at the dice in his hand.
"I have a feeling this is no child's game darling, we need to be careful." Stepping back, he found he couldn't leave the square to get out, and moving forward yielded the same result. "I guess we have to play this game to get out..." Looking at them for a moment he closed his eyes and rolled his dice.
It clattered and rolled high, maybe it was luck? Stepping forward, he found that he couldn't pull Liam with him. Disdainfully he let go of their hand as he passed through the square until it stopped him. It stung each time he passed through a square but when he made it to the sixth one, everything seemed okay.
Turning back to look at them, he was going to say that things seemed safe when a burst of air blew by his face. Flinching and reacting quickly, he shouted and tried to find the source of things. A small trickle of blood dripped from the slice on his cheek and he looked worriedly at Liam. "Be careful! Please be careful!"

At least he wasn't alone in this, though he wasn't pleased that his partner was going to have to suffer whatever was to come. He didn't trust this and it seemed the other didn't either, no surprise as Aloysius had more time dealing with this city than he did. "We'll be fine...just treat this with the seriousness you would a battle." Act like the general he was...don't worry or panic. It would, he hoped, help Aloysius from worry and getting worked up over this.
"I'll be fine, I'm not new to this city and it's magical antics." Though perhaps he was new to this brand of magical chaos, he was surprised when he saw what happened to the others face in the distance. "Will do, don't worry about me. Keep yourself safe love." Rolling his own die he scooped it up once it had hit the ground and stopped moving. Three paces and he stood still for a moment before a heavy fog seemed to roll in, thick enough it was hard to see anything, it wasn't all that bad though. But he did worry if there was anything hiding in it...only because he didn't trust this city one bit. "Careful love." Again he called out, knowing they'd be rolling next, and wishing them luck with it.

"I know you have spent time around it all too I just..." Jolting as another burst of air went past him, he rolled his dice and moved forward. It seemed like his luck from the first roll didn't carry into the second.
As he stepped into the square, again nothing seemed to be too wrong but there was that feeling of being watched. Turning back again to look towards Liam, making sure they were okay, he saw that they were obscured but nothing else seemed to be wrong at least. Then a shrill shrieking and dissonant noise started in his square and he pulled his scarf over his ear to help dampen the noise as his brow furrowed from the pain in his head. It was worse than when Desiree had stepped all over the piano and he wondered if this was how Liam felt when wrong notes were played.
"This square is loud! Cover your ears if you get this one. I worry it might not go well considering how you react to sour notes darling!" Calling out as he winced, he figured he would roll the die by kicking it the next time, no need to uncover his ears and let the noise in any more than it already was.

It seems he was bound to have bad luck as the dice, rolled on the floor so he could watch it closely through the fog, landed him right in the same square as Aloysius. Standing up he made his way towards him, worry etched on his face, the warning from the other ringing in his ears. "I'm here with you love." He spoke, having left his fog filled square, and approaching the other. He didn't know if they'd hear him, considering the scarf tightly held over their ears, but he soon was joining them and suffering right along with them. The sound was bad - it was so far off. It had him clutching his ears and closing his eyes as if in physical pain.
"s**t." This was bad, this was really bad. Thankfully Aloysius could play and never subjected to such torture but this - this was bad. Desiree, in cat form, on the piano was bad but this was worse. "Now you know what I feel." He called out, hoping to perhaps be heard over everything.
His dice, which he held in one hand, was dropped while he still kept his ears covered. He'd see where it landed in a moment, once Aloysius escaped this square.

Aloysius was glad to see them in the same square even if they weren't taking things well. Taking a moment to press a kiss to them, he then nudged the dice and moved the four squares forward. It was a relief that the sound was gone and he was glad to see the square was solidly normal for a moment.
Then that moment passed and he heard a sound he remembered. Moving quickly, he pulled his scarf over his neck again and up to his nose so the bats couldn't bite him. He didn't want a repeat from before and thankfully these were small. They scratched at his coat and tore it slightly but with quick movements, he slid his coat off and swung it to disrupt the damn things. After that, they seemed to give the idea of drawing nearer a second thought as a few of them had gotten hit and dazed by the heavy fabric of his coat.

Watching Aloysius walk off, four spots, he saw the attack...or attempt at an attack. It seemed the bats didn't get to do much to his partner. He had shouted as soon as he'd seen the bats turn up, flying towards his fiance, but his voice died as he watched everything. Aloysius was fine...at least he looked fine. Sighing in relief the blond took a deep bnreath before scooping up his die, having already rolled it, and huyrried out of his spot to where he was to go now.
His own square was nice...it was pleasent and he just wished for some warmth now - like the sun on his skin. It felt like a day at the beach...sounds included. Till things stopped being so nice and pleasent. He heard the singing, again very pleasent, it sounded so perfect and it was calling...for what? For him? He barely noticed it but everything shattered ashe suddenly felt like he'd been pulled under the water, air leaving his lungs, he was sure he was drowning and yet where was the water? Choking and clawing at his throat his eyes wide, paniced, Liam was in a panic which was only made worse when hands were onmhim - touching and drawing him somewhere.
What was this!? He needed to get out of here...and as he flailed his arms the dice fell from his hold and rolled across the ground.

Another roll and Aloysius moved forward, glad to be free of the bats even if he'd taught them a lesson, maybe after the encounters before he had become sort of an expert on the things. It was nice to not get bitten this time, he didn't like the idea of going through those horrible chills and problems that came along with it.
Stepping into his square, he nearly lost his balance as the floor beneath him sunk and wobbled. Waving his arms to keep from falling, he stabilized and stepped carefully. The threads vibrated slightly from his movements but otherwise, nothing seemed to be drawing near. Occasionally he felt little vibrations on the strings but whatever was causing it wasn't close.
Looking back over his shoulder, he saw Liam struggling. Panic bubbled up as it looked like they were struggling to breathe. "Liam!" Touching the wall that prevented him from going back, he watched and worried as they struggled in the square they were trapped in.

As breathing became harder, and his knees gave, he sunk to the floor clutching his throat and trying to breath but failing. He could see spots, and darkness, surrounding his vision but he did move his head aorund searching...the dice. He needed to find it so he could escape. He'd felt it leave his hand, felt it drop, and there it was! Looking over it he managed to push it off the square, onto the nextr, and followed it like a flopping fish out of water. As soon as he could breath he lay there panting and sucking in air.
Once he was able to he finally made it the rest of the way to where he needed to be. "It felt like...drowning." He managed to choke out, laying there on his back, staring up at the darkness.
When nothing happened right away Liam wondered if this was some square meant to give people a break from the rest of the s**t. He was however proven wrong. He could hear movement, lots of it, and jumped to his feet as quickly as his air starved body could manage. What he saw was...gross and also terrifying. Rats...lots of rats with glowing little beady eyes. They looked hungry, some looked near rapid, he wasn't sure it if was just his mind telling him that. But either way he was diving for the die and rolling it as he prepared to run for another square - any square. He was worried they'd try and eat him...because they were capable of that. "This is gross. Hurry up and roll love, I need out of here."

Aloysius cursed as they rolled and were close but still just out of reach again. It was worrying to hear that they'd been drowning. He'd felt that feeling in winter when he'd plunged through the ice. "Take slow breaths, and try to be careful!" It wasn't something easy to recover from but then again their lungs were better than his had been at the time.
Watching as the next square they ended up in was filled with rats, he hurried and rolled his dice. Hurrying forward, he squinted and raised his ar, to try and block the blinding brightness that seemed to be in this square. "I think this is the end, hurry darling! I want to make sure you are okay." He hoped the dice would be forgiving but he knew there wasn't anything he could do to sway the thing.

"I think a hot soak is in order after this." He called over, while moving to pick up the dice, just managing to avoid a hungry looking rat. Kicking a few of them, one latching onto his shoe, he kicked it about which looked rather comical, but he finally got it off his shoe. "Yeah - hot soak afterwards." And he did hurry himself off the square and onto the next one over. Thankfully none of them had bitten him but only just, though his shoe was not looking so good. The whole square had filled up with rats as he'd been moving through it, kicking them as he went, he only just managed to avoid their teeth.
The next square was...squishy. "It's like..a pillow or something soft with give...the floor isn't normal." There was some tackiness though...where his feet didn't want to come up off the floor either. "But it has hold.." When he did look down, and give a bit of a bounce, he did a double take. "Web...spider web." he said slowly, realizing that if there was a web...there was a spider that had made it.
"Spider...somewhere." And he could feel, and see, strands moving. This wasn't good. The die in his hand was thrown against the wall where it bounced and landed on the web. Stuck there but still it was there and it had been rolled. "Good, wait for me!"

"Of course, I can get the bath running for you once we get out of here." Pacing in the last square, he watched as they too dealt with the webbed square. At least they didn't fall which was good but he didn't like the idea that yes there was a spider somewhere. Not that he was afraid of them, it was just that he didn't like the things or their webs as they filled the corners in his home.
"I am not going anywhere without you, just please hurry."

Maybe it was because he so wanted to get out of this place, to escape, that the dice decided to shun him and rolled a one. Moving to the next sqaure had been a task, a fight with the rats, but he was on the next square and the flapping sound had him looking around. It had been bats...right? Bats which had attacked his fiance.
s**t.
They came, expected, and he was swinging and hiting them the best he could. He wasn't as safe as his partner was because getting his coat off, to cover himself, took time and even then it wasn't totally safe. He was bitten here and there and stared with wide eyes. Liam knew his fiance was going to be fretting over him and mother henning him. "Damn bats! I'm trying to hurry love." Calling out he again kicked the damn dice in the hopes of escape.
