Sarin was out patrolling, more like wandering around at night, bored and maybe looking for a little trouble. Between one step and the next, he kicked something that didn't look like a rock. What was it? Upon closer inspection, it looked old. Like a cube of stained wood. A die? Weird. He started to leave it there, but something about it made him want to pick it up.
That was always something to pay attention to, especially here in Destiny City. But try as he might, he couldn't leave the damn thing there. So he picked it up.
Stupid. Mistake. A cold wind damn near bowled him over and then it was dark. So dark that he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. ********. What the hell had he gotten himself into this time? A moment later, a path lit up in front of him. Weird. It kinda looked like a game board? He snorted a laugh and tried to just step off but met an invisible wall.
Great. Super. He was so good at finding himself in the worst and weirdest situations. So. He had a gameboard in front of him and a die in his hand. Guess he was doing this, Jumanji style. He just hoped this didn't actually release wild animals into the city. They had enough crap to worry about.
"Well, here goes nothin'," he said and tossed the die.

He watched the die fall through the air, hit the gameboard and roll...landing on a two. Well, guess that meant he had to move two- whoa!
Before he could take a step, some phantom force was pushing him along the path to his designated space. Once that was gone, something else slammed into his back and shoved him forward enough to smash him into the invisible wall that kept him on his designated space. Thankfully, he was able to turn his face so he didn't break his nose, but he was going to have one hell of a bruise on his cheek from this.
The ghostly form was gone as quickly as it had appeared and Jadyn was able to breathe correctly again. Ugh. What the hell kind of game was this, anyway? Taking a deep breath, he bent down and grabbed the die, rolling it again.

Instead of waiting for that phantom wind to push him to the next space, he just started walking as soon as the die hit the board. A six was rolled, so he made his way to the eighth space with no incident. Sweet. Except then he felt something move across his boot.
"What the hell?" He looked down but didn't see anything. A shiver rolled down his spine as he felt another one across his other foot. "No, no, no, nope, not staying here. ********!" he shouted when something hissed at him. He was absolutely not getting bitten because he was dumb enough to pick up that stupid die.
Which he grabbed up again in order to throw it and get him off this snake-riddled space.

It was only one space forward, but Sarin was more than happy to get off of the snake space. He was fine if he could see the slithery things. And they were in a safe area. Like in a tank. Behind glass. Where they couldn't bite him unless he was dumb enough to stick his hand in there. A final shudder ran through him as the remnants of feeling those snakes hit him once more.
This space smelled like the sea. That wasn't so bad. He liked the sea. He could almost feel the salty breeze as the gulls cried. A haunting melody played and he felt himself becoming consumed by it, falling in love with it. It was beautiful...
And then he was choking. Seawater filled his nose, his mouth, and his lungs as he struggled to breathe. The song played still, louder, as if trying to make him forget that he was drowning. It almost worked. He was almost lured into the sweet spell of dreamless sleep...
But his leg jerked and the die went rolling, taking him to another space.

The ability to breathe came back as soon as the phantom wind shoved him onto the thirteenth space. Kneeling on the gameboard, he choked and coughed as he caught his breath. Luckily, nothing was happening on this space.
Which in itself was kind of alarming. Every other space had something weird or creepy happen. Why not this one?
Oh, he was sorry he asked. He could hear the skittering of paws and see the shining eyes in the dark around him. s**t, this was almost worse than the snakes! He felt one crawl up his leg onto his back and he would never admit it, but he screamed like a girl. Once the thing crawled up to his shoulder he grabbed it and threw it into the void around him, kicking at the ones that were at his feet.
Thankfully he managed to kick the die in the process, sending it rolling across the gameboard. Please please please be something not living or bitey!

He stood up on the nineteenth space, thankful to be away from the skittering rats. One more space to go, that was all he needed and then hopefully this place would let him go. A tremble began under his feet and he was regretting asking for something that wasn't live or bitey.
"Oh, s**t," he shouted when the tile he was on began to crumble. He fell through, but he reached for the edges of the tile. Just enough to hold onto, enough edge for the die to not have fallen into the abyss. He flicked it with a finger and sent it rolling a couple times. It didn't matter what number it landed on, he just needed off this space.

Finally, he was able to pull himself up and onto the final tile in this horror movie reject of a gameboard. Opalescent light surrounded him and the next thing he knew, he was right back on the streets of Destiny City where he'd been before the die had tricked him into picking it up.
"Never...again..." he said to himself. He thought about chucking the die somewhere else but shook his head. Better he keep it so no one else could be taken in by the damned thing.
