This city was ******** insane, he was certain of that, gargoyles which came to life and attacked people. It was insane, not to mention dangerous, and it seemed this city had a habit of being like this - chaotic. If he was certain his family would believe him, and not think he was trying to get out of being here, he'd have already placed a call to his grandfather asking to return to France asap. As much as Blaise might want to leave this city, and he really did, he knew he wouldn't be believed and failing to meet the demands of his grandfatgher he'd wind up out of the money he would otherwise get for finishing school here. He just hoped the magic in this city, and magical war, didn't get him first.
That said he really shouldn't have touched the wooden die he found on the ground while walking to Desiree, but he wasn't as versed in the magical s**t that went on in this city. Were he more aware he wouldn't have touched it...but it looked like some die, a part of a set, that someone had dropped and lost. It looked well made if not a bit old even.
No, it wasn't normal though and it brought him somewhere else....somewhere that had swaures laid out on the ground in a single stright line and he couldn't just walk forward - of course not. This wasn't about to be simple for him.
"Damn this city."

Desiree hadn't been far when she noticed the odd thing on the ground. She'd never really seen one before and got distracted by it. Pawing at the thing, it rolled and seemed to have difference numbers on it but then she looked up and saw that the street and brick buildings were gone.
"Oh... Oh no." Circling, she wasn't sure where they were and she couldn't see any mirror. Pulling out her tablet to call Chalcanthite for backup, she saw that it was unable to get a signal.
"Stay close, I'm not sure where we are." Keeping her voice calm, she flicked her tail as she tried to figure out where they were.

"I'm starting to rethink staying in this city, but I'm not willing to give up the inheritence yet either." But the idea did play about in his head, what life without money might be like - impossible. But this magic also seemed impossible to survive. "I think we need to play this like a board game." In which case...he eyed the die he'd had in his hand - what had causes this mess. Giving it a toss he bent to look dow nand see what it had landed on. He didn't know how magic not only defied the laws of basic science but a pocket dimension, or something similar, he still didn't understand a whole world being inside of a mirror...and than there was more inside of another mirror as well. Liam had told him about mirrorscape, though he'd not seen it. This city would be the wet dream of many who persued the sciences at higher levels. For him this city was a bit of a nightmare, and he'd only just gotten involved in all of this.
"How do you and others manage this city?" Six spots on the die...
Picking up the die he haded down six steps, taking his time and going slow about it all. Stopping on the space, figuring he wouldn't be allowed to move past it, the dark mirror jumped when he felt the air move around him. Something was moving through the air, very fast, and it was close enough to him that he felt the air currents being disturbed. Biting his lip, wondering what sort of things could be moving so fast, especially since he saw nothing, it wasn't until something sliced through his leg that he jumped and yelped.
"s**t, something is here...I'm thinking just this space." Turning, moving, to try and see whatever sliced through the air and his leg. "Thin and sharp...I don't know what though."

Looking at them she huffed and puffed up a bit. "Maybe you can look into a place further out, it gets better near the edges while still being able to use the mirrors to travel." She wouldn't give them a direction but the mention of inheritance rubbed her the wrong way. She'd seen what that sort of thing had done to Aloysius's family and the man himself but it seemed the situation was much different.
"I keep low and have a pleasant home to stay at, and I keep people nearby in case I can't manage something from all the way down here." Pawing at the dice it rolled slightly and showed a two. She didn't get to go as far as the other but thankfully that didn't effect their ability to converse.
Everything seemed alright but then she felt something squishing and smashing her into the invisible wall of the square. Hissing and yowling she scrambled to roll the dice because it was starting to hurt.

"That might be something to look into then, though it is further from the clubs...and bringing someone home." All that distance...he didn't like that, didn't want to bring someone all the way to his home and than what? Get them an uber to get them back to their place. He wasn't interested in someone spending the night though, he wasn't like that, or it meant thigns happened in the city, never at home, anbd he took himself home at all kinds of odd hours in the morning.
Unlike Liam and Aloysius he prefered sleeping around and not dating, he wasn't interested in a relationship. It was bothersome and took too much from him, he also had a hard time staying committed to plans with people. His attrention went to Desiree, and the sorta roll her dice did, before she was moving closer to him.
"Be safe, I don't think this is safe at all." As if she wouldn't already know that. Turning back tpo his own dice he gave it a rolled and stepped onto the next space. At least he didn't feel like something was flying by him, like he just had been. Instead he was soon ocvering his ears due to some high pitched sound, which had started out as a humming or a whirring sound, and was now something headache inducing.
His hands clapped over his ears he turned to shout over his shoulder, not that he needed to be shouting at Dessire. "Don't land on this square - too loud. Holy s**t, it's disorienting..."

So, another one who liked clubs; no wonder they weren't as reliable and on schedule as others. Hissing again she swatted the dice with her tail and breathed deeply in relief as the pressure was gone and she could move. Picking the dice up in her mouth, she was getting closer but slowly. A few squares forward but still behind Hedwig. Something was going on up ahead, she could see them jolting slightly as if startled.
Flattening her ears to her head, she pawed at her nose as the square she entered was dark and smelled awful. What was the worst part was she could swear she saw hands trying to grab her and it took a bit of effort but she managed to pounce over them and avoid getting grabbed. She'd had enough of that mess when the order mauvian had turned into a human and picked her up in the summer.

"Remind me after this - never pick things up off the ground unless it's mine and I dropped it." Who knew something so simple, and innocent, looking could do something like this? Not only bring them here but this game, which was not fun at all, because there seemed to be no rules to watch magic could and could not do.
"Hey Desiree, I'm wondering...are there any thigns magic can't do? Any like line sin the sand which it can't cross? Laws it can't break?" Asking loudly, shouting over the noise of his own square, as he grasped his die and gave it a shake before throwing it.
So four squares...he headed down the four squares, taking his time as if something might attack him along the way, and stopped then. He was on the square and stood unmoving...waiting. Something would happen, he knew it, there was no way nothing was going to happen. Like before he heard noise, but didn't see anything, then he felt movement in the air...something was here with him. What he saw though - bats. Lots of bats and they were flapping and making noise and they were bting him. Shouting and flailing his arms about he managed to send one flying as he whipped his hand about. "s**t! Desiree, roll so I can!"

"I can remind you of that, it's a sensible way to view things." To be honest she should do the same but the problem came when she accidentally bumped into things that might be on her blindside. It was worse when she was in her human disguise and further up off the ground, she often bumped into things or tripped over objects here and there. Though she avoided falling and making a scene when she could, it wouldn't look good on her authority if she made a fool of herself.
Getting her dice rolled, she was glad to be moving forward and closer to the other, taking cautious steps as she ended her new square. An uneasy feeling came and she hunkered down as she heard a shrill and loud noise. Oh that was harsh on her sensitive ears and she swatted at the die again. "Keep rolling, we need to get out of here. Magic may have some rules but right now I would rather get out of it and talk later!"

"Right now I think the touch nothing that seems innocentg, or tgoo good, is the best way to survive in this city." He didn't like this city and was beginning to think that anything that didn't outright seem dangerous, or at least shady, were the real dangerous things. From the gargoyles he'd heard about in the city, and dealt with, to this and the other things he'd heard about this fall. This city was not safe, despite looking all nice and safe and with a low populaiton when compared to New York. It seemed safer somehow, he was almost certain that was one reason his grandfather had sent him here. The man had to have figured it was safe, that he couldn't get into a lot of trouble, and now look at things. Trouble everywhere it seemed.
Stepping to the next swuare, the very next one, he was again covering his ears as screams filled the air and eerie carnival muisic...like something you might hear in a horror movie...a cheap one. But the smell of smoke had him sniffing and looking abotu - was there a fire? It smelled like it but he saw nothing and he didn't feel warm, or hot. The bats he'd heard and he'd seen...it hadn't just been sounds. So was the fire not real because he didn't feel or see it...he just smelled it? But what was the point in that? It wasn't a real threat...unlike the other things.
Pinching his nose, the smell was bad, he went to roll the dice again and eyed it. Ok...at least he'd be off this square.

"Sounds good" Another low roll had her moving ahead but when she entered the square, she felt weird. It sounded like the ocean, like waves against the shore and as she walked over the square it creaked as if it was a wooden boardwalk.
Her ears perked up at the distant sound, of a siren's song calling to her. It pulled her forward, closer to where the tile would end, before she felt as if she was thrown into the depths below. She couldn't breathe, couldn't even make a noise to ask for help. Not that she was sure if Hedwig could get back to her to help.
Pawing frantically, tail whipping towards the dice, she hoped to hit it to get off this square before she drowned on dry land.

He'd been busy, too busy with his own square and it's issues, trying ti figure out if there was an actual fire that he should be looking for that he missed the mauvians plight. When he finally rolled his dice again, and was looking back at Desiree, she seemed to be having an issue and he couldn't move back to help - and he did try. With his dice rolled and unable to help the mauvian he had no choice but the move forward.
As he stepped onto the square a smell hit him...something nasty and gross, his nose was again pinched...and than covered. "Oh god, so gross." It smelled foul and he wasn't sure it was even safe. It smelled like waste and foul and didn't have any idea what it actually smelled like - on object or a thing. He just knew that whatever it was couldn't be safe...green gas in the air also wasn't safe...it also wasn't natural or normal, at least he didn't think so.
"This has got to be fake..." There was no way there was actual green colored gas, that was just something you saw in movies and tv - right? A way for people to see what was invisible and to see the danger that otherwise wouldn't be seen or fully understood to be the casue of an issue on screen - right? But while he was telling himself this he shivered as he felt cold...was the gas some sort of coolant? That would explain why he was cold - right?
Looking down at his hands, figuring they'd look really pale because his skin always seemed to get really pale when he was cold, he didn't see his hand as it should be. The skin was slushing off and pelling in places - what the hell? He didn't even feel it but he couldn't certainly see it. Was his hand numb...? Was this some sort of numbing agent? Something numbing and...corrosive. Panic filled him as he turned around and looked towards Desiree. "Avoid this square! This isn't good." He was certain of that as he shouted, hoping she'd hear his warning. This wasn't good - whatever this was.
Gasping his wide eyes turned back to his hands - both of them. "Not good..." He whispered to himself. The dice, at some poitn in his panic, had been dropped and kicked and rolled.

She was relieved to be free of the square with water, taking slow and deep breaths as she cautiously walked forward through the squares, just a few away from Hedwig and then a few more until they were hopefully free of this nightmare game board.
The square she was in seemed fine so far until something swooped down and bit her, at least she was fast enough because she ended up swatting the thing down after it bit her and she sat on it with her full weight as it tried to flail and escape. "No. Down." Growling as she had the one down, another few came at her and she swatted at them too. Another few bites, which she was thankful for having thick fur, and she tried to move forward again. She was getting pretty chilly but mainly she was tired now.

It looked like she was dealing with bats, same as he had, those were not good. The bites hurt, he was certain he was bleeding from some of those bite marks. Shivering at the thought, at the cold he still felt, the dark haired male wondered just why he was still so cold. Maybe it was the air in this place? Like an air conditioner or something? It was a thought, it would explain why he was so cold.
As the dice landed he scooped it up and headed to the last square and stood there...everything was peaceful here. "It's over...it's safe here." Turning to watch the mauvian he hoped she'd reach him soon - the sooner the better. "Come on Desiree, smack that dice and get our of here."

Smack it she did but she was taunted by making it just one square from freedom and what was worse was the fact that as she crossed over the tile, it collapsed beneath her. Clinging to the edge, she scrambled with her back legs to try and keep from falling. She could see the dice above her, right by her paw but it took her a moment as she stared at Hedwig and scrambled up onto the ledge, squishing herself against the invisible wall to prevent herself from falling back down.
"At least I can't roll a zero right?" Looking at the other as she batted the thing again. She felt her voice shaking slightly as she shivered. She wanted to go home and curl up in a pile of Aloysius's scarves or maybe squeeze herself between both Liam and Aloysius in bed if they were asleep. Maybe it might be best if they were awake though, she wanted them to take a look at her even if she knew it would worry them. It would worry them more if she didn't get checked out because she could feel a bit of blood causing bits of her fur to stick to her skin.

Pausing at her words he shook his head slowly. "If a zero was even possible...I'm sure luck would spite me and I'd have rolled a zero on my last roll." He said, rather certain of it. The fact he was here, that he'd simply picked something up off the ground had led him here, was back luck. So he was sure if it were possible he'd have had even more bad luck, suffered for longer with the bats biting at him or the loud noises. It would have happened.
"Almost here...then we can get out of here. I'm going home after this though...I need a hot shower and to disinfect these bites."
