Every October, Katmai National Park in Alaska celebrates Fat Bear Week, a week dedicated to celebrating the grizzly bears of Katmai gorging on spawning sockeye salmon at Brook Falls, trying to pack on the pounds in anticipation of their long winter slumbers. Members of the public are encouraged to vote on the brackets to determine which bear will be the official Fat Bear of the year! This year's winner was a mother bear named 128 Grazer, claiming the title for the second year in a row. This year also saw tragedy--this year we mourn the loss of four-time champion 480 Otis, one of 128 Grazer's cubs, and Bear 402. But we also celebrate the strength, determination, and tenacity of the bears, as well as the salmon they feast on, and we wish the bears and the spawn of the surviving salmon good luck, and hope to see them next year! In honor of this fun, educational, and inspiring event, we're doing what we do best--a raffle! Open: Now!
