Over the summer, Alice and Ella had been exchanging letters like they usually did, talking about books and the like. The two of them routinely hung out in the library together reading and discussing the books and they mutually came up with the idea that they ought to form a book club. As soon as Alice had the chance, she went to Ms Tamra in the library and asked her to sponsor the club for them, which she was more than happy to engage in. The blonde quickly made flyers advertising the new book club, expecting most of its members would be drawing from Ravenclaw House, but she was ready to be pleasantly surprised. The only preparation she'd have to do was to find a book for all of them to read and discuss. She first thought of picking her favorite book, Alice in Wonderland, but decided that she ought to put it up to a vote to pick which book they read. She also didn't want to foist one genre of book on everyone, so she designed a form to find out what everyone liked in their reading options. When students arrived to join the club, she had a form prepared with some of her self-inking quills prepared for them to fill out. On the day that they were to meet for club, Alice met Ella ahead of time and happily walked with her down to the library for them to host their club together.

Seb had been relaxing outside, laying on a bench while the fall breeze danced in his messy hair. It wasn't until his watch beeped in his ear that he realized he'd dozed off in a half-crumpled position. Oh dang. Now... what was his alarm set for? Oh right! Today was Alice and Ella's new club! He'd already asked (about a million times) if it was really okay for him to join, but Alice promised that since he listened to the books, it'd be okay. So, he sat up and stretched, much to Zoot's chagrin. With a laugh, the teen lifted his cat onto his shoulders and headed inside.

After the short walk up to the library, Seb was glad to see a few people already there. He'd (accidentally, sorta) overheard Ella's worry to Alice that people might not come along. "Hi Liss! Hey Ells! Oh! And hi Aina too! And... hi Csuri." He added the last one in a bit of a hesitant tone, frowning when the Slytherin rolled her eyes so hard he figured she might see her own brain. Then he looked over at the forms and lifted one up before squinting at it. Dark green eyes looked over at Alice, subtly asking if she hadn't already filled out a form. Heck, Alice and Ella both knew he wasn't exactly good at writing.

Book club had been a surprising hit last year and Alice and Ella had received many compliments on the idea. That had only inspired Alice to look for more books and things for them to read. The majority of the club members preferred fantasy books so she was trying to cater to them, but she wanted to include everyone's book favorites in that. She had spent a large portion of her summer break researching books and putting together a reading list for the whole school year. Naturally she'd been looping Ella in on all her decisions, since they were co-captaining the club. It was just difficult for her, since all her communication with the outside world had to be done through her poor owl Skye. But her faithful friend happily carried letters between her and her friends and only asked for a few snacks in return. Alice also believed that Skye enjoyed the time out so that she could stretch her wings. The first book that the book club would be reading was a high fantasy book that Alice had discovered called Dragon Thief, the first in a series of books called the Skystone Chronicles. When they had arrived at the school, Alice used magic to make copies of the book for everyone to have one using the duplicating spell. Arriving at the Library with Ella, Alice set the books on the table, then placed the cards for everyone to fill out with their favorite books. Smiling at her best friend, she sat down to wait for everyone to arrive.
