Mystras was fine with scary things when it was all in theory. Watching a horror movie where all of the humans got eaten and there was fake blood everywhere, while she was safe under a pile of blankets with her snacks and a friend or two next to her? Yeah, that was great. Walking down the street, looking for bad guys, and finding spiderwebs with what looked like writing in it? Writing that said things like doom and fear? Yeah, that was much less great. She didn't really want to be one of those people who ignored the obvious warning signs and ended up face to face with the giant person eating spider. Yeah, she had some powers now, but she wasn't sure how far her twig of a weapon was gonna get her against a monster like that. She leaned over, squinting at the web. This also reminded her a little of something else. Hadn't there been a kid's movie like this? With a pig, and the spider friend? "Did I eat too much bacon, bruh?" she muttered to the shadows. "You coming for me, Charlotte?"

Aruna had never particularly been fond of spiders. Not specifically arachnophobic, but the creatures had always unnerved her just a bit more than she would have liked. Something about the multiple eyes and the way they moved. Oh and then of course there were the ones that jumped too. Absolutely no thank you. So when she nearly walked face first into a web, her skin was already crawling. When she saw there was a word in the web? She wanted to go scrub her skin raw. This was the stuff of nightmares.
"Of all of the things...Why spiders? Why couldn't it be butterflies?" Because clearly spooky butterflies were better. Somehow.
A voice carried to her from not too far away, making her laugh just a little. The Charlotte's Web reference made her smile and she made her way towards the source of the voice, lifting her hand in a friendly, albeit timid, greeting.
"At least I'm not the only one seeing these things. I was starting to worry..." She smiled sheepishly. Her usual timid anxiety had been overridden by her unnerving discomfort of the creepy webs, and she took comfort in knowing she wasn't imagining them.stari_maga Sorry this took me so long to get back to you on!!!

"Oh, no no no," said Mystras, before she could even see the other girl come into view. "I don't want any spooky butterflies, either. Like, the ones with the skulls and s**t on their back that lead you off of a cliff in the middle of the night?" She hoped that she would be smart enough not to follow a butterfly off a cliff, but when magic or ghost stuff got involved, sometimes all that logic went out the window. "No thanks. I'm good." At least these spiderwebs didn't seem to have possessed her or done anything like that. At least, not yet. Plus, there was another person here who could save her if she did end up trying to do something completely stupid because she read a cursed spiderweb or did anything like that. She smiled as she got a better look at the girl, who was pretty, but more importantly, looked very normal and also not like a ghost or monster. She was a senshi, which was probably the best case scenario if some evil bug showed up that they'd have to fight. "I'm cool with not dealing with spiders either, though," she said. "It's not Negaverse, right? It's all good if we just slowly walk away?"

Oh. The idea of haunted butterflies with skulls was decidedly worse. Definitely worse. Aruna shuddered at the thought and shook her head.
"But what if there's something dangerous about them? What if they hurt civilians?" Aruna twisted a strand of her hair anxiously, already worried. "We should....at least try to check it out, right? Isn't that sort of our job?" She wasn't about to go all Winchester Brothers on some freaky spiders, but she felt that as someone with power, it was their responsibility to at least investigate it. Great Power, Great Responsibility, right? Or at least that's what the movies told her.
She offered a timid smile to the other girl and introduced herself. "I'm Sailor Aruna, by the way."

The senshi was brave, and heroic, and correct. Mystras wasn't sure that she wanted her to be right. She didn't mind throwing herself into normal danger, but something about this spooky stuff? It was probably worse because she couldn't actually see any spiders. They were like the ghosts that she kept hearing stories about. They had to be somewhere just out of sight, watching. Plotting. "Yeah," she said, not looking super excited about the idea. "I guess we can look around." She hesitantly took a step towards one of the spiderwebs. From this close, she could see that the web itself was black. "Okay so it's a normal looking spider," she said, as she saw the bug trying to hide right in the middle of the letter D. It was dark enough that it blended in pretty well, but wasn't that what normal spiders looked like? Black? It wasn't a widow. She knew to check for the red markings.

Aruna came closer, hesitating before leaning in to peer at the spider. A shudder ran down her spine as she watched a leg move and she felt vaguely sick. God did she ever hate spiders.
"It looks perfectly normal. Gross, but.....normal." She made a face and stepped back. "What do you think we should do? Try and look for where they're coming from maybe?" She really didn't want to walk into a giant sentient spider nest, but what else was she supposed to do? What if these things were an actual threat just lying in wait?stari_maga I am SINCERELY SO SORRY that this took me forever and a year
