Space 0

Byakko and Tea were patrolling again tonight together. They had decided it'd be nice to go for a brisk fall night stroll and it seemed everything had been going fairly normal without the threat of interference until Byakko seen something on the ground.

She paused, her eyes narrowed. "What's that?" She asked cautiously looking back to her sister. They weren't close enough to tell precisely what it was yet but there was a glint of something..... familiar.

Tea froze looking a head when her sister asked what it was, "Huh, looks like some old trinket. But what's it doing here?" She glanced to her sister before inching closer until she could tell what it was.

"I feel like I've seen it before." She said softly as she finally got close enough to see what it was her sister not far behind but she snatched her older sisters' wrist. "It's that di-----ce." She said squeaking as they were snatched onto the game board they had been on previously.

"Oh shoot. . .. "

Byakko sighed heavily, "Well, I guess here we go again." She looked towards her sister and then around at the game board she landed on.

Space 0:

You have arrived here; nothing happens until you roll your die.

Space 1:

You feel eyes upon you, and hear a faint chuckling, like you’re the butt of someone’s joke. It sets a bad mood for the rest of this game; you’re already being judged–and, it looks like a long road ahead.

Space 2:

Something pale and ghostly slams into your back; you don’t see it, but it feels like it’s trying to push you forward–or to the side, or off the path. Thankfully, the magical glass walls stop you from going too far, but this is jarring–and might hurt.

Space 3:

A strange fog rolls in once you land here. You lose sight of nearly everything, including the game board. If you want to roll, you’re going to have to get close to the ground to even see where you’re supposed to go next. Hopefully nothing sneaks up behind you.

Space 4:

Something smells rotten. You can’t see very far into the darkness, but if you squint closely a dark form seems to be dragging itself along the ground. Sometimes you see a pale hand almost close enough to grab you–or, maybe something does grab you. It’s cold, and frightening, and it’s trying to drag you out of bounds.

Space 5:

A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds.

Space 6:

You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll.

Space 7:

Something is twitching and flapping above you, and while you might be minding your own business, something is a little too invested in what you’re doing. You can’t see them, but you suddenly hear shrill, high pierced noises that are disorienting and confusing. They can bring about dizziness and pain and can cause vertigo if you’re stuck in them for too long.

Space 8:

Something slithers across your foot, so fast that you might have thought you imagined it. Except, a few seconds later, it happens again. And then, again. Snakes keep moving across your space. If you move, they see you–and they might bite. Some of them hiss, some are capable of spraying a poisonous liquid that can cause itchiness or burning.

Space 9:

The smell of saltwater fills the air, and you can hear the water lapping against the shore. You hear boards creaking, and bells in the distance. And then, a song. Haunting. Ghostly, and calling you. For a second, you fall in love. And then, water fills your lungs. You’re choking, you can’t breathe. The song is loud and seems to caress you, even as a wet chill gathers in your square. Scaly hands reach for you, you gently caressing, and try to lure you into an endless sleep.

Space 10:

A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

Space 11:

You hear a frantic flapping above you, but that’s all the warning you get before a hoard of bats descend. They scratch and slap and screech, but you avoid getting bitten. For now. You’ve invaded their space and they seem keen to defend it. You can try to fight them, but the only way to escape them is to roll again.

Space 12:

The smell of smoke is in the air. You can’t see what’s burning, but you can hear distant screams, and–carnival music? It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here.

Space 13:

At first, the square is quiet. Nothing seems amiss. It’s unnerving in how safe it seems. But then, it only takes a few seconds before you understand why. It’s just taken a moment for them to get to you. The patter of tiny feet is rapidly approaching. There’s no light to see them, but there’s a reflection in their beady eyes. Rats. Thousands of them. Chittering, frothing in the mouth. These are strangely grotesque, mutated abominations. They’re running at you like they haven’t got a fear in the world–only, hungry. And rage. If they get to you, they’ll eat you alive. The ground is trembling with their weight. You’d better roll quickly if you don’t wind up a meal.

Space 14:

The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon.

Space 15:

Bats. Maybe you missed them attacking earlier, but they’re back again, and angrier than ever. Instead of just screeching or scratching, they’re swooping down and biting now–and the effects are instantaneous. The little teeth are sharp and painful, but once bitten you might feel agitated and prone to violence, and you might feel perpetually cold and hungry with no relief in sight. The effects might last when you leave the square–or they might linger for a few hours or days after you get out of here.

Space 16:

As you step into your square, something cracks. At first, you can’t tell what it is, but as your full weight moves onto the square, the ground shifts beneath you. It’s cold, and it’s ice, and a hole falls underneath you, plunging you into frigid waters. There’s enough floating ice that you should still be able to roll the dice to get out of here, but you have to go quickly–you’re soaked, in chilly water, and something just swam by your feet.

Space 17:

Something howls in the distance. It’s loud and echoes with such ferocity it seems to shake you. On the other side of you–another howl. Closer. This one is loud enough to hurt your ears. The ground trembles with the force of something charging at you. A growl, a snarl. Yellow eyes staring you down. There’s not just one monster out there–there’s several, and they’re all coming for you.

Space 18:

You smell something poison, something noxious. You pass through a haze of strange, green gas as you enter the square, but it fades after a few seconds. You feel cold. You feel empty. You start to decay. Maybe a part of you knows it’s an illusion, but in that split second when your body feels like it might go limp and when you look at your hand and see skin melting. You see bone. You’d best roll the dice so you don’t wind up a skeleton prop for the next player.

Space 19:

You’re so close! Almost at the end! But the space you’re standing on shifts and shakes and seems to crumble beneath you. You have to hold on; there’s nowhere to fall but down into the deep abyss. If you manage to hang on for long enough, you find some invisible purchase and can pull yourself back up, but it’s quite the ordeal. Make sure you don’t get cut on falling spaces! The ground restores itself once you roll again.

Space 20:

The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best.

Byakko was looking around and picked up the dice at her feet, "I guess this is the only way to get out of here. So . . . might as well."

She rolled the dice around in her hand for a moment before throwing it to watch and see it land on 3. She sighed as she moved along to the square that was the 3rd one.

"I do hope it's not quite as terrible." She said pausing as suddenly a fog started to roll in and everything was difficult see. The fog was thicker than pea soup as they say. She made an audible noise as she turned and looked back where her sister should be, "You're turn." She called hoping the other could her.

Tea watched as her sister rolled the dice and ended up in some sort of thick fog. It was difficult to see her but she knew rolling was the only way to get out of the board, "I don't like this. . . " she said with a slight whine. She knew she was older than the last time she'd been here but it didn't help her feel better.

She rolled the dice to find out she'd rolled a 5. She moved along, passing the square her sister was on, stopping at space 5 she suddenly felt something breathing on her. The senshi of mice paused and tried to look around trying not to let her fear get the best of her.

There was a dog somewhere, it followed her as she turned. It was behind her and breathing on her neck, barking and it was large. It could probably make a quick snack of her. She really didn't want to be here. "Please hurry up and roll." She called to her sister not sure if the other could hear her at the moment.

There was a pause as Byakko stooped down low so she could see the roll, she heard her sister telling her to hurry up. "I'm trying" She muttered when she finally rolled the dice she watched it land right back on three again.

She sighed and moved another three spaces just one ahead of her sister. Who looked rather panicked, "What's there?" She asked looking concerned. Though no sooner than she asked that there was a shrill noise. A humming like her ears were ringing but also something was going past her. Suddenly she saw what looked like just strands of hair falling to the ground when something just flew past and sliced it.

Another went past her arm and she could feel a cut. She hissed, "This board is awful."

Watching her sister move past her then draw up and hiss in pain. There was something there that she couldn't see or hear but it was obvious her sister was being cut, she rolled her dice to try and get away. The dog was still snarling, growling and barking causing spit to hit the back of her neck.

The second she rolled a two she hurriedly moved but found herself facing something weird. . . . She looked up into the sky to see something twitching and flying around. Almost liked a Buzzard waiting to pounce on her should she die. This was not her favorite thing.

Suddenly a shrill noise hit her too causing her ears to ring and feel like they were about to burst she dropped to her knees and covered her ears the best she could trying not to scream but found it difficult.

Byakko saw her sister drop to her knees and cover her ears and she was suddenly more worried for her sister than herself as she tried to predict where the air slices were going to hit. She rolled her dice and some how -- it landed on a 1. She was able to check on her baby sister.

She moved into the spot and realized the shrill noise suddenly looking up there was something circling as well. She dropped down to her knees and tried to make sure her sister knew it was her turn to roll. The noise from the previous spot had left her ears ringing, this didn't help any. She wanted out of this spot as soon as they both could roll.

Tea had managed to pull herself from withering in pain when her sister grabbed her and made her realize it was her time to roll, she hadn't wanted her sister in the spot with her. It was terrible and painful.

She rolled her dice and watched it land on 3, she pulled herself out of the spot and moved on. She slowly entered spot 10 and was hit with a swampy smell. This might be better than the previous square she was in, but she wasn't sure. . . Looking around she felt mud creep over her feet. She suddenly felt like she was in that one movie about the boy and the horse as she slowly sank.

The pressure of the mud slowly feeling like it was crushing her, she looked back at her sister, her ears still ringing, "Help." She said as she tried to find something to grab onto which . . . she found nothing useful.

Byakko managed to uncover her ears long enough to roll the dice and watch it land on the same three her sister's had. She crawled out of the square when she felt like she could she stood up and walked into the 10th space, however; she barely heard her sister call help with the ringing in her ears.

She looked over and gasped as her sister was sinking, the swampy smell registered a few moments later and as she tried to make her way over to help she found herself sinking, this was not anything she wanted to deal with today. When they went out this was suppose to be a nice relaxing fall stroll not a torture adventure. . . "Quick, Roll!" She said trying her best not to look panicked.

Tea heard her sister say quick roll and it didn't take her but a minute to get her grip on the dice and throw it. She found herself moving to space fifteen. The muddy quicksand was still on her fuku and her ears still ringing something she tried to dust some of it off just to find it still too fresh to do anything about.

She felt gross. But what didn't help was the bats that started attacking her. They were swooping down getting into her hair, biting her and scratching. It was a nightmare. She was getting irritated she started swinging back in frustration and she was starting to get hungry and feel cold and sopping after the quick sand. She couldn't catch the bats enough to punch them out of the air as she flailed around.

Byakko rolled shortly after her sister and as she watched her sister get moved along to the spot she rolled. She saw her fighting something, looking very agitated. The senshi looked concerned. But she didn't have a chance to check on her sister as she was ganked from the sand to her next area. She heard something crack; and like it echoed. Almost like . . . she looked around and suddenly down she was feeling like some anime or cartoon character at this point when a hole opened up and she plunged into the coldest water.

She was irritated and freezing but she oddly felt at least a little bit cleaner from the mud that had clung to her after she was pulled from the quicksand. Her teeth were starting to chatter and she held onto the closest ice chunk that would be useful for a roll. "Oi hurry up, I'm not a polar bear." She called out to her sister, her Russian accent showing through just a little more than normal.

The agitation and still flailing trying to knock the bats out of the sky she threw her dice, it landed on one and she was moved along the game board. Tea didn't realize she'd been moved until she heard a sharp crack that sounded like ice and her eyes widened.

It was one rude way to cool off when she splashed into the water near her sister. "UGHHH I hate this, those stupid bats, this stupid water." The irritation had originally stopped her from realizing how cold the water was but it was starting to sink in as she shivered and felt the goose bumps run down her skin with the prickles from the cold water.

"Whhhyy is this happening?" She muttered looking grumpy while her teeth started chattering. She looked over at her sister who was clinging to a piece of ice as well.

Byakko was still clinging to the ice as her sister who was still very angry about something when she fell into the water. Byakko whined when she got splashed and her sister asked why this was happening, "I don't know!" She said frowning and feeling as if frost bite was starting to set in.

She managed to roll the dice and found herself moving to space nineteen. She could see the end of the board, but suddenly she felt the ground shaking, "Ohhhh nooo not an earthquake." She was freezing, she was sure she had some frostbite on her fingers and toes. She was sopping wet and still somewhat dirty from the mud. This night couldn't get any worse she'd thought until she felt the ground.

The senshi looked down to find the ground starting to give way there was a squawk as she scrambled to grab some of the ground that wasn't falling. This was like out of Super Mario where you'd stand too long and the ground would just give away. She had found an invisible spot of land and tried to scramble onto it, getting more cuts from the shattered ground.

"We're close to getting out of here, come on Tea." She called. Trying to keep her sister focused who was angry and cold now.

Tea had found herself out of the icy water, she was . . . temporarily okay with that. Until she smelled something .... poison?? She looked around and made a face. Was this like the sludge that Tim Curry voiced on Furn gully? She moved trying to find a way out of the hazy toxic whatever this was but. . . she could feel the cold worsening.

Looking at her hand which was almost frost bitten it seemed to start to rot. She looked around as she was trying to figure out how to escape, her skin felt as if it was melting off and she was going to end up as a zombie or . . . worse.
