He didn’t drink, he never had as far as he knew, and it really was no surprise that the drinks he’d had hit hard and left him feeling worse than he’d been feeling. He’d left his apartment, leaving a slightly grumpy looking Omen curled up on a tea soaked pillow, with a plan forming in his mind and emotions running rampant through him. It was late out but not so late that senshi and knights would all be in bed, at least he wouldn’t have thought so, but he found none to take his emotions out on.
His parents, yes they were still his parents at this point, had suffered all because he’d been dragged into this whole war without knowing both sides. Without being given a choice! Someone needed to pay for it. A life for their suffering! But he hadn’t found anyone and he wasn’t looking to grab energy, or harm any civilians tonight, so instead the emotions coursing through him turned inward and had him wandering into a bar. It was loud, from the music playing, and he’d taken a seat in a corner at the bar in the hopes people would ignore him.
He’d powered down before entering the bar, that was really the only smart thing he’d done since deciding to leave his apartment when he was an emotional wreck. The drinks which followed were consumed rather quickly, in order to avoid the foul taste and the even worse smell. How people could drink was beyond him but at least it tapped down what he was feeling as he found that the noise around was bothering him and the lights were too bright, almost like a migraine but there was no pain to accompany it. Before he knew it though he was being told no more drinks…even as he tried to assure the bartender he was not in fact drunk…and he wasn’t driving or anything. He was fine enough to get himself home, however untrue that was, the man didn’t need to know he could teleport…or how doubtful his teleporting skills were right now.
How the bartender got his phone, and how it was unlocked, he didn’t know but he also didn’t really notice any of it as he was focused on the empty glass sitting on the bartop right in front of his face. Kioshi was a bit too far gone to realize he’d given the password to his phone, after the bartender had taken the phone from his fingers. Blue eyes glassy and staring, unblinking, he didn’t hear the bartender on the phone informing someone to come pick him up - he was drunk and needed a lift home. They also mentioned that he’d come in looking a wreck, red eyed and obviously something had happened, the man thought he could use someone to make sure he got home and didn’t do anything stupid.

Seeing a call from Kioshi, he was a bit surprised as they were supposed to be resting. He was even more surprised when the loud sounds of a bar were accompanied by an unfamiliar voice letting him know to pick the other up. Nodding to himself as he listened to things and got the address, the questions stacked up more and more about what might be wrong with Kioshi.
Heading over, he mentally prepared himself for the loud music that he could feel in the air as he pulled into one of the short term parking spots. He had no intention of staying longer than he had to, especially once he entered and had to pull a hand over one of his ears to try and block out some of the sound. Spotting the bartender and the downed Kioshi, he sighed and looked over them for a moment as they seemed to be staring with glazed over eyes at the empty glass.
“Time to head home, are you alright?” Not quiet sure if he would get an answer, he accepted the phone from the bartender and thanked them as he gently nudged the other to get him moving. He really hoped they didn’t drive here because that wasn’t something he could really deal with as just one person and he wasn’t about to have them behind the wheel with how inebriated they looked.

Looking up, slowly, it took effort in lifting his head as he felt someone nudging him. Blurry vision blinked, from blurry to darkness and back to blurry, he took a moment to lazily look over Lorcan. His greeting, the others name, slurred as he sat up a bit more and reached for them.
“Someone called?” His words slurred as he questioned the other, somewhere under all the drink he worried what the other would think seeing him like this. This was unbecoming and not like him at all, he didn’t drink ever, and yet here he was clearly drunk - very drunk. He’d get hit with the shock, and the shame, when morning came and the hangover passed.
For now though he moved to stand only to find himself pitching forward, arms up and reaching and grasping at the other. It was the bartender, whom he wasn’t even paying any attention to, mentioning that he called Lorcan because there was a heart emoji next to his name. Something he also might feel something about if he knew, if he heard the bartender, but he didn’t. “Dead…they’re dead.” He whispered, words breaking and slurred as he spoke, finding a way to press his face into the other and hide his glassy eyes as he closed them against the pricking of wetness he felt.
“They thought…I hated them.” He continued on, as if the other might understand him. The words came without him thinking, on considering how bad he must sound, his voice shook and broke. The tears which filled his eyes slipped past his lashes and escaped down his cheeks.

Moving quickly, he held an arm out in front of them to steady them and helped wrangle them upright. It wasn’t the first time he’d had to help someone unsteady on their feet but most of the time it was a patient that was woozy from medication. “Yes, the bartender did.” Nodding again to them as he helped Kioshi out of the loud bar, he could barely make out what they were saying against the loud music but he felt tears dripping onto his arm as he finally managed to get them outside and to his car.
Taking a moment to process what they said, his lips turned down slightly in a tight frown. “Hisoka’s parents?” He avoided sighing because they might take that the wrong way but it made a bit of sense after they’d sorted through things. He would have looked into what happened afterward if he was in that position but it seemed the other had changed their opinion on the people in the picture being their parent’s or Hisoka’s. It was an odd disconnect, something that wasn’t easy to explain or work through but he could understand losing a family member. He’d lost both grandparents on his father’s side but the situation had been very different.
“It’s not your fault.” Patting their back slightly, he opened the passenger door and helped them in. Rubbing his thumb over their cheek, he tried to wipe some of the tears away as he did sigh. “I’ll bring you to my house, I can text that co-worker of yours to feed Omen or I can go over there.” It might be better that way because he wasn’t sure what might have been left out on the bed and he didn’t want them to have to answer uncomfortable questions about why he had photos of a family that didn’t have him in any of them.

Letting himself be helped, he really was in no shape to protest or do much of anything, he clung to the other as his blurry vision swept over things slowly. He felt unsteady, his feet heavy and unwilling to do as he wished, he felt dizzy and his nose was stuffy. There was a tightness in his chest and he felt like s**t. Clinging to Lorcan he let them bring him to their car and get him into the passenger seat.
Shaking his head, thought it was a terrible idea as everything swam around him in a blur of colors which left him so dizzy and sick feeling, he couldn’t agree with the other. “If I’d been there…they wouldn’t have thought I hated them. I could have helped.” The post had simply said he had fallen ill, his father, but with what it didn’t say. Had it been stress from his vanishing? Had it been the man not taking care of himself because of his worry and stress? And his mother….the family called it a broken heart which had taken her life. Her son vanished and the loss of her husband. He’d been a part of her death at the very least.
“They’re dead….both of them. They went back..and they died.” And while they hadn’t been alone, as he had feared might befall them, he hadn’t known. Even if he couldn’t contact them he would have visited if they’d been in this city and sick in a hospital. He’d have been careful, and found a way in, though he’d have had to keep silent. He could have seen them and perhaps that would have prevented this. But this was a fear of his, a thing which had worried him, it bothered him late at night.
“You please…I still - my laptop.” He didn’t want a co-worker to see things, even drunk as he was he knew that. He didn’t want them to know such things about him. Leaning into the other's touch, turning his face, he pressed his lips to Lorcan’s hand. “I feel sick…and too warm.” This was not pleasant at all, why people did this he didn’t understand and he’d understand even less in the morning. But moving was just not so pleasant, it made his stomach churn and everything moved at the wrong speed. Slouching in the seat Kioshi turned his head away and sniffled. “I did the right thing…but they suffered.” And if he’d had the night he’d wanted some senshi or knight’s family would be suffering come morning. But he’d found no one.

“You can’t change what happened and you don’t know what Hisoka’s relationship was with his parents.” Trying his best to soothe them, he rubbed their cheek a bit more as they tried kissing his hand. They looked a mess, even more so than when he’d had to calm them down after the incident with the poor girl who had an infected piercing. It was something he was still trying to get a handle on because they were normally as calm and cool as he was.
Sighing as he pulled their seatbelt on and then walked around his car to settle into the driver’s seat, Lorcan reached for their hand and held it. “You couldn’t have followed, it could have brought something worse to them. They went somewhere that they were more comfortable in, even if they passed away. It’s better than them having stayed and being killed by something or someone.” Nodding at their request, he figured whatever the other had found out was still up on their laptop. Omen was probably perturbed at not being fed on time depending on how long Kioshi had been out drinking.
“You’ll be okay, we will stop at your place on the way to mine so I can feed Omen, and then you can spend the night at my place. I’ll make sure you’re alright because you look… a wreck.” Trying to soften his words even though it was hard not to, they really looked terrible but he’d still help them and make sure they were alright. He just really was hoping this wasn’t a common occurrence.
“We can talk more about it in the morning if you want, for now, you just need to rest and not vomit.” Because that was the last thing he wanted to deal with in his car.

Listening to Lorcans words, the other was right, Kioshi wanted to shake his head and deny things. Things might have been tense, and a whole lot of other things, but he was certain Hisoka had still loved his parents and wouldn’t have wished for this to happen to them. Who would want this to happen to their parents after all? To not be there for them when they were ill and in need…when they were dying. Who wouldn’t at least want to see them one last time? There had to be people out there, there were all sorts of people in the world, but he wasn’t one of those sorts of people.
He couldn’t change it though…
He couldn’t change what he’d done or what they’d felt, and done, he couldn’t change anything. Even if he were to do the stupid thing and change sides, again, it wouldn’t undo anything but it would make things worse - a lot worse.
“I should have found them, tracked them down while they were here. I could have kept an eye on them…” Made sure they were safe, he’d have known when they left for Japan, even though he wouldn’t have been able to stop them from ultimately leaving the city. He could have kept them safe from a distance, though it seemed nothing had happened to them in this city…aside from him vanishing. He’d been the only thing to happen to them - the only thing to hurt them. Turning to face Lorcan, a hand reaching out, he took a slow and steady breath as he did his best to lean towards the drivers side of the vehicle, his hand settling on their thigh.
“I feel like…I hurt them with my own selfishness. I didn’t need to ever….to fight. I could have stayed, like I was, and just not…” Not ever powered up, not ever fought, he could have avoided it all and still been their son - Hisoka. But he’d chosen to do what he wanted, as he always did, he hadn’t wanted to deny the new part of his life but he’d needed to alter it to something he could tolerate and was of his own choosing. So he’d done what he had, knowing the consequences, and setting up for the fall out on his end. But Hisoka had done nothing for his parents.
“I’ll try….I’ve heard hangovers are bad…and I’ve never drank before…” And he’d put down several drinks in a very short amount of time, so by the time it hit…it all hit. He was going to have a rough morning and he already knew it…even as he felt like s**t and was a teary mess in the others car.

“Could you really have done that? It would have been a lot to manage and just get a handle on things you really couldn’t have been able to. You had to get used to a new life and a new everything while also having lost memories.” It wouldn’t have been realistic back then, even with the boxes of paperwork and information unless they had known to look into things.
“You don’t know that you can’t know that Kioshi…” Trying to reassure them as they leaned towards him. With the light being red he did lean over to rub their cheek slightly with his thumb. “You’ll be okay, I’ll make sure of it. First I need to feed Omen then I’ll just close your laptop so that if you want to stay more than the night someone can check on Omen for you tomorrow.” At least he didn’t have to work tomorrow because the next morning could be rough depending on how they handled things. Right now they didn’t seem to be doing well and he hoped he’d be able to help even if this side of things wasn’t his strong point. He was going to try at least because he didn’t like seeing them hurt.
Parking below their building he waited a moment to make sure they were okay. “If you want to wait here I can do this quickly, do you need me to grab anything from your place for the night?”

Doing his best to consider the question, something which took time and far more brain power than it should have, he finally shrugged as an answer. He really wasn’t sure. Maybe, if he weren’t drunk, he might have said yes with a confidence he shouldn’t have. But that might have been his answer, quickly given and without the usual thought given to things. But, were he to think on it properly he would have agreed. To get used to everything, while rebuilding and figuring himself out, the idea of keeping an eye on his parents would have been near impossible.
To have taken on everything he had, including apprenticing again, something he had certainly not enjoyed doing, he would have found it impossible and stressful which just would have added to the problems for him. Finding a home, and managing that, had been difficult enough in the beginning. But right now, emotional and out of sorts as he was, he settled for the only answer he could manage.
Reaching up to rub at one of his eyes, to wipe away some of the wetness, the darker haired male nodded his head slowly. “Bed clothing….something to wear tomorrow morning….” Slowly he spoke, thinking over what he’d need. He was not about to wear the same clothing two days in a row, without it being washed and dried, and he didn’t expect his clothing to be dried tomorrow morning even if it was washed tonight. His pants would need to air dry, or they risked shrinking and becoming too tight, so they’d never be dry come morning. “Bathroom things…” Assuming the other would know what he meant, and glad he’d thought to give the other a key to his apartment recently. Omen would be fine on his own for a night, save for some confusion, the cat would be fed and he had a water fountain so he wouldn’t need to worry about drinking either. “Thank you…” Whispered, because he really owed it to the other for coming for him, he didn’t need to, he was lucky that Lorcan had gotten the call and had come for him.

Nodding and making a list of things based on what they were asking for, he leaned over and kissed them quickly before getting out of the car. “I’ll be back in just one moment with things, if you think of anything call me because I’ll bring my phone in with me.” Showing it to them before turning to hurry, he kept going over the list and hoped they would be okay for a moment while he managed things.
Climbing the stairs quickly, he got to their apartment and unlocked the door with his key while keeping a foot in the path as he opened the door to prevent Omen from making an escape attempt just in case. Luckily they just stood in the hallway, staring at him expectantly as if he was late for an important meeting. “Omen, let me get your dinner then I need to get things for Kioshi okay? He’ll be back tomorrow so don’t worry.” Feeling just…. Slightly stupid at talking to a normal cat and half expecting an answer, Lorcan pulled the food down and plopped it into the bowl before going to Kioshi’s closet and drawers to grab sleeping pants and a shirt for the night and then some things from the closet for tomorrow. Making sure he shut the laptop and put all the printed articles and photos away under the bed, he made sure everything looked normal. Omen was busy with dinner and didn’t get under his feet so everything seemed to go smoothly as he packed it into one of the bags at the bottom of the closet. It was sort of an overnight duffel bag and he thought he remembered them mentioning it before.
The last thing was grabbing the other’s products from the bathroom, something he struggled with and took the largest amount of time as he looked over labels and tried to figure out what was the bare minimum he could bring for them since they weren’t in the best state right now. Opting for just four of the smaller bottles that were in the shower and on the sink, he put them in a plastic bag before adding them into the duffel.
“Okay Omen, I need to head out, be good?” Reaching down, he gave the massive fluffball a quick pat before locking things back up and making his way back down to the car. Looking through the window as he approached while a bit out of breath from the run up and down the stairs, he really was glad his own process of hygiene was streamlined.

Had he seen Lorcan talking to his cat he would have smiled, perhaps even laughed in amusement, his cat was…just a normal cat, sadly. But that hadn’t yet deterred Kioshi from talking to them, they did come when called after all, so they did understand things to an extent…as much as any cat really he supposed. Omen was however his cat and the support he needed at times, the only support he’d had for a while in some ways. He’d had Kai in his life but that just…wasn’t the same. That hadn’t been bad though, Kai wasn’t bad, just different from Omen and different from Lorcan.
Lorcan who was coming out of the building, approaching the car where he was curled up being miserable, Lorcan being out of breath would be understandable. Kioshi typically was as well, and he never ran down or up the stairs - too much of a work out. But he was working on that, planning on a home, it would be easier than a five floor walk up to his room. This neighborhood also wasn’t the best, not that he normally minded, but late at night coming back home could be a bit dodgy at times. At least if anything happened he could power up and deal with it…whether he wanted to or not.
“Thank you.” Reaching out when the door opened, at least the tears were cleaned and he didn’t look as much a wreck…though he certainly felt it. He had, while Lorcan had been inside, slipped out of the car in order to empty his stomach near someone elses car…a fine surprise they’d get in the morning. He didn’t care to have Lorcan finding out or seeing so he’d hidden as best he could. At least his stomach felt better, and he was certain he could make it to the other's home with ease now. “Omen was good?”

Putting the bag on the backseat first, he then got back into the driver’s seat and buckled back in. Taking the hand that had reached for him he let them hold on as he got ready to start driving to his place. “Omen gave me a look for being late with his dinner but otherwise was fine. He was content to eat while I packed away your laptop and things before getting you clothes and some of the things from your bathroom.”
They looked a bit less green than they had when he’d left but they still didn’t look well. “When we get to my place do you want me to make you some toast or maybe a bit of rice to help get something in you? I can make tea if you want as well but you should try something light to help soak some of that alcohol up.” He wouldn’t force them to eat, he didn’t want them to puke but he knew they’d regret it more if they didn’t have something in their stomach.
At least the drive to his place was peaceful, with how late it was few people were on the roads and the lights changed based on the weight sensors instead of timers as they did during the day time. “You’ll be okay, I’ll make sure of it. Just… don’t go trying to find an answer at the bottom of a bottle again?” Grimacing slightly at the concept of what came with that lifestyle he sighed. “Please?” As if it might persuade them to listen a bit more if he asked that way.

“He gives me a look as well if I’m late with his meals. He has an internal clock for when he should be eating.” And he kept to it, his cat kept him on schedule, not that he needed it, Omen was very good at knowing when his meals were due as he was close to the same time each time as he was only a few minutes off give or take. “Rice would be good….and tea, please.” Both sounded both good and bad but he knew they were needed, or at least the rice was needed. The tea was more of a want than a need.
Despite the center console, and how uncomfortable it was, Kioshi found himself resting his cheek to the others arm and nodding his head. “Don’t drink anyway…” This was a one off. He hadn’t found any senshi…or any knights. He’d looked, he’d wanted to bury someone tonight. But no one - absolutely no order to be found. He hadn’t even found a mauvian to put an end to, so they could awaken people like himself again. He’d been passing a bar, hoping to find some senshi hanging around the back in order to protect the stumbling and bumbling drunks leaving the place. Instead, with no one around, he’d gone into the bar himself after powering down.
“Don’t like it…no control and sick feeling.” He hadn’t liked the idea of it before and at this point he was certain the idea of drinking was created, and spread about, by someone who absolutely hated humanity and wanted everyone to suffer. And he did decide to give voice to this idea.

“Of course, I can get things made for you while you lay down in bed. I have a tray for the bed, though I usually use it for my laptop when I work sometimes from bed.” It wasn’t as common but he didn’t eat in bed but tonight there was a good enough reason to make an exception to his rule of no food in the bedroom.
Choosing to pull into the garage this time, he hit the button on his sun visor and parked inside once the door was open. “Good, it really doesn’t help with migraines since it dehydrates you. I’ll grab the bag and then if you need my help we can just go up the stairs from in here right into the house.” It was how he usually did things in winter or after a particularly long day since he would throw his clothing in the downstairs laundry room before continuing up to the main floor.
Grabbing the bag and coming around to their side, he offered a hand for support after opening their door. “I’ll get you settled okay and then food and tea. I can bring the laptop into the bedroom if you want to listen to anything or watch anything if you feel up for it?” He wasn’t ready to sleep just yet himself but he knew that it would be better for them to say put in one area if they could and once there was something in their stomach maybe a shower before actual bed.

“Couch is fine for food.” Because while Lorcan was ok with making an exception the other was not, he didn’t do the eating in bed thing. Food was at the coffee table, since he didn’t have room for a table in his kitchen. The coffee table was a bit lower than most but there was a reason for it, since he ate from it, the table served its purpose for him. It was a surprise he’d let Lorcan get him to eat in bed the one time but he’d been too sick to complain, too miserable to want to move to the living room. Getting those boxes from his closet was a lot for him, even with help and motivation to do it.
Leaning into them, his legs still not stable and feeling weak, his head nodded slowly. “Mmm, maybe a movie?” He couldn’t think of what movie but a movie wouldn’t be bad. “Or tv series?” Something they could start to watch together perhaps? Again, he wasn’t sure what but the idea was appealing to him. There was also the option of an audio book or a podcast but he wasn’t sure about those, the idea of something visually appealing to him more right now.
