The morning had started off peacefully for Nasuri. She had spent it with a few friends, laughing and catching up in one of Sulburi’s shaded squares. They had shared stories and gossiped, their voices drifting above the hum of the marketplace. It had been a good start to the day, and after the small gathering, she had gone shopping. Strolling through the bustling markets, she carefully selected spices and dried fruits for her family, bargaining with the merchants in her usual way. By midday, Nasuri had returned home for lunch, where her parents and younger siblings sat around the large wooden table. Meals with her family were always loud and lively, her siblings joking and chatting while her mother complained about how none of them helped in the kitchen. Nasuri rolled her eyes, teasing her mother in return as they all ate together. The familiar chaos made her feel grounded, but once lunch was over, she needed space.
That’s when she decided to head out for a walk, wanting some fresh air and a break from her family’s constant chatter. The streets of Sulburi were always busy, even in the afternoon heat, but the buildings funnelled in enough cool air to make the stroll bearable. As she wandered aimlessly, her mind drifted, thinking about nothing in particular as she enjoyed the temporary solitude. Just as she turned the corner near a crowded alley, she collided with someone, the impact catching her off guard. Nasuri staggered slightly, her hand instinctively reaching for the dagger at her waist as she looked up, her eyes narrowing at the stranger.

This region was hotter than he was used to. Owaen was sure that his shirt was forever stuck to his back as he wandered the Oban region. Shading his eyes from the glare of the sun above he looked down at the equally hot Duruf that panted at his side. "I agree, this is hotter than even home on a good day."The canine at this feet gave a bark as a glossy feathered Averin perched on his shoulders. The tropical colored critter stretched its wings and gave a bit of a purring chirp. It seemed that it was having a lovely time in this heat. Owaen had come to Sulburi to see the largest city of the region, perhaps to even catch a ride to Yael that he had heard about. "I certainly over dressed for this place." He commented to the Duruf as he noticed that many wore lighter clothing, some men only wore pants and displayed their darker skin proudly. Owaen himself was pale against those around him. And he certainly didn't have the courage to go topless, he worried he'd burn. Casting his violet gaze around at those that bustled around. The call of the vendors of the local marketplace sounding here and there. The air here was a bit cooler and it made it more tolerable. Stopping amongst the crowd to get a drink from his own water flask. Someone bumped into him, Owaen nearly tumbling head of heels to the ground managed to catch himself. "Hey now..." He choked, having been in the process of swallowing some water. At his feet, Mocki the Duruf barked at the one who had bumped into his master. The Averin merely fluttered to the nearest perch and peered down. "Mocki.. That's enough." He coughed, clearing whatever water was left from his windpipe. "It was surely an accident.."

Nasuri barely noticed the man until they collided. She took a quick step back, eyes scanning him up and down. His paler skin colour stood out, especially in a place like Sulburi where the locals were used to the relentless heat. The fact that he had a Duruf and an Averin with him was interesting, but what really caught her attention was the way he was flustered, choking on his water. At her feet, when his Duruf barked sharply, but Nasuri just raised an eyebrow. She crossed her arms, more amused than apologetic.
"Surely an accident," she echoed, her tone flat but with a hint of sarcasm. She wasn’t one to bow or grovel after a simple mistake, especially not to someone dressed so unsuited for Oba's heat.
"I didn't realize I'd be knocking over someone who looks like they wandered into the wrong region," she added, a teasing smile creeping onto her face. Her eyes flicked briefly to the Averin perched nearby before settling back on the stranger. "You might want to lose the layers. You look like you're about to melt."
Her words were blunt, but there was no malice behind them. Just Nasuri being her usual, unapologetic self. She was surprised he hadn’t passed out yet.
“It could be dangerous, just so you know,” she added quickly. “You could have a heat stroke of some kind. How long have you been in Oba?”

The cutting words were a sting to an already fractured pride, well at least someone around here was honest. Even if they could soften their words just a little bit, wiping his mouth and face off with an handkerchief from a pocket he looked towards the woman who had bumped into him. Mocki still barked at her before snorting and trotting back over to Owaen. "Belrea has a hot climate as well, depending on where you live." He commented, being told that he had wandered into the wrong region. "Been traversing through this region for a week or so. Traveled mostly by covered wagon.." He had caught a ride with a traveling caravan that dropped him off at the city before moving on to their own destination. There was a comment about losing some layers. It was true that he could possibly lose a layer, but he was still a little self conscious. "I should be alright." Though this he wasn't all that sure about. "But you are from this region, perhaps you could point me towards a place I can find something more appropriate to wear?" Owaen was quite sure he could find a place on his own, he just wanted to know if someone else could offer advice. His pack held only clothing he would wear in slightly cooler climates. He had debated going to the colder northern region, but the heat had a bigger draw. It was something familiar to him. "Name's Owaen." He offered a hand, while stuffing his handkerchief back into his pants pocket.

Nasuri watched him with a slight smirk, his comment about Belrea's heat made her chuckle under her breath. She’d never travelled to Belrea before, truth be told, but she had trouble picturing any place could be as warm as Oba.
"Well, you’re here now," she teased, her tone lighter now. His Duruf had calmed down, trotting back to his side, but Nasuri’s attention remained fixed on Owaen as he mentioned his travels and asked about finding something more suitable for the Oban sun. Her eyebrows arched slightly as he introduced himself. She glanced at his outstretched hand, then back up to his face. "Nasuri," she replied simply, accepting his handshake, her grip firm.
"You know," she began after a pause tapping her chin as she watched him, "I was about to head back home, but I can’t let you suffer under all those layers." Her smile widened into something more genuine. "Shopping’s my thing. How about I take you to a few shops? We can find something that won't make you feel like you're baking under all this sun." She gestured to the buildings towering around them, blocking out most of the light, but still letting in enough heat to make anyone uncomfortable.
"Plus," she added with a playful shrug, "I could use another excuse to browse." She winked, turning to lead the way through the crowded marketplace, already deciding she’d drag him through her favorite spots. "What made you want to come to Oba?”

"Yes, Sauti and Tale didn't seem as warm as this area. The sun is more visible that is for sure." Owaen concurred as his hand was taken in greeting. The firm grip she gave him, he returned, but perhaps not as hard, before releasing his grip on her hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you Nasuri."He stared at her for a moment at the mention of showing him some things that could substitute his current clothing. He was of course wearing a dark colored dress shirt under a soft leather vest. It was his normal attire, the dark slack like pants finished it. His shoes weren't as glossy as they probably were when he started on this venture. He was dressed to impress, not so much for rough travel. "I would hate to keep you away from your family. You can just point out a place and I think I can handle it myself.' He sometimes missed his own mother who was still back in Belrea, but he knew she would be fine, she was well loved in their city. He was a little perplexed when Nasuri mentioned that shoping was her thing, wasn't it everyone's thing? To a point at least? He only really when shopping when others pointed out that his clothing was either getting too small or too worn out. He was dedicated to only having a few sets of clothing. Fewer now that he wasn't merely traveling to work and home again. "But I won't say no to the help or company. New places can be a little daunting, I have realized." And it is what he got for not doing his research before coming across the ocean by airship. Giving a sharp whistle, he called the Averin back from its perch where it had been preening its feathers. The Duruf still remained seated at Owaen's feet. "Oh yes, there are my companions. The Duruf is Mocki and the Averin doesn't have a name yet." He said petting the avian who gave a purring chirp.

Nasuri chuckled as Owaen spoke, her eyes glancing briefly at his attire. The dark shirt and vest he wore looked more suited for some formal affair than the heat of Oba. So she waved off his polite refusal.
"My family can wait. Besides, I’d rather not leave you to wander around looking like you’re about to pass out." Her voice was friendlier now, more relaxed, and it was clear she enjoyed the idea of helping. Shopping was one of the few things Nasuri enjoyed doing for fun, and she had no set plans to meet her family. At least not for a while now which gave her plenty of time to help him out.
As he accepted her offer, Nasuri gave a satisfied smile, nodding. " I’ll get you sorted out." She began walking, gesturing for him to follow. Weaving through the marketplace, Nasuri took in the familiar sights. The vendors’ calls, the colorful goods spilling out of every stall, and the cool shadows cast by the towering buildings made Sulburi feel alive, even in the heat. The air was a bit cooler in these narrow streets, a welcome break from the sun’s intensity, and it made the whole shopping experience much more bearable.
"Tell you what," she said, glancing over at him, "I’ll take you to a tailor I know. They have clothes that’ll make you look like you belong here comfortably. Light fabrics, a bit of style, you know?" She eyed him up and down again, her tone half-teasing. "You’ll look good in no time." Nasuri glanced at Mocki and the colorful Averin, then back at Owaen. "And while we’re at it, maybe we’ll find something for your friends too. They deserve a little treat, don’t you think?"
Despite her tough exterior, there was a warmth in Nasuri’s voice that hinted at her enjoyment of this moment. She might have come off a bit sharp earlier, but that was just her way. Underneath it all, she liked helping out when the opportunity came, and this was as good a chance as any to lend a hand.

"I'm not going to pass out." Owaen said as he waved his hand in a bit of a dismissal. Though he did feel like he had been shoved into the tavern's oven with the heat on as high as it would go. "I am sure I would have found somewhere cool to hide away until the sun set." He truly didn't want to keep her from things she had to do, but all the help was... Helpful. "Back home, my mother is a seamstress. She was always making my clothing. My boss always tells me that a Bartender should look better than their patrons." Though this he wasn't too sure about, some that came to the Averin's Nest were better dressed than he was. Most were dock workers, but some were more upscale. "Lighter clothing would be wonderful, how are the evenings here? Do they get colder as the sun goes down?" He asked this as he wove through the masses following Nasuri. She seemed to know this area better then he did, he bumped into people here and there. Apologizing as he did and quickly caught back up. The buildings here did rise high over head blocking out the most of the sunlight. The calls of the vendors rang out over the crowds. He stopped a moment to look at something before hustling to catch back up. "Mocki always likes treats, The Averin..." He looked at the bird as it was staring at something. "You have to keep an eye on, it likes to steal its food from others." Owaen go a hold of the Averin before it could leap from him to a fruit vendor's stand. The Averin gave a chirp as it wiggled in Owaen's grasp. "And this is what I mean." He chuckled heading towards the vendor to purchase a couple of fruit to give to his companions.

Nasuri smirked as she watched Owaen insist that he wouldn’t pass out. "Sure, sure. But you do look like you’ve been slow-cooked for a few hours," she quipped, clearly amused by his stubbornness. "Your mother’s a seamstress? That’s why you look sharp," Nasuri commented as they walked. "But this heat’s a whole different story. It’s not about looking fancy; it’s about surviving the day without feeling like your clothes are glued to your skin." She glanced back at him with a grin. "Evenings do cool down a bit though. Sulburi’s not all scorching heat all the time. Once the sun dips, it’s almost nice."
She weaved through the crowd easily, clearly used to navigating the busy streets, and shot Owaen a sideways glance as he struggled to keep up, bumping into people here and there. "You’ll get the hang of it," she assured him. When he mentioned Mocki and the Averin, Nasuri chuckled. "Sounds like they’re a handful," she said, watching Owaen scramble to stop the Averin from causing trouble at a vendor’s stall. "Your bird’s got guts, I’ll give it that. Good thing you’re quick on your feet, or we’d have to start paying off every vendor in this market."
She watched as Owaen bought a couple of fruits for his companions, shaking her head with a small smile. "Well, at least they’ll be happy," she remarked. "I guess that’s something we have in common—I’ve got a soft spot for my family too, though they’re not as furry or feathery." As they walked, Nasuri glanced up ahead, spotting the tailor’s shop nestled between two larger stalls. "We’re almost there," she said, jerking her head toward the building. "Let’s get you comfortable. Trust me, you’ll thank me once you’ve got something lighter on."

With the Averin occupied with a bit of fruit he looked back towards Nasuri who had graciously waited for him to get his companions something, mostly the feathered one. "It certainly ain't shy to take something. It's famous for taking something off someone's plate back home." The Averin merely continued to craunch on its fruit, now content. There were comments said, before Owaen stepped off to get something for his companions that made him turn a light shade of red. It was true that his clothing was nice looking, his mother put in a lot of time to his clothing. 'dress to impress' was something she often told him. But in this case he did have to agree, there came a time it did feel like his clothing were stuck to his skin. The was one of those times. "Sometimes she does go a little overboard with the stitching." This comment was more for himself then anyone else to hear. He loved his mom, but sometimes he did wish she would let him wear something that wasn't so formal. Owaen continued to follow behind Nasuri through the market, his attention was distracted now and again before she pointed out the tailor shop. There had also been talk of her family along the way, but he was too distracted to make much comment to it. He debated on what he could pick up from the stands nearby to take back home... Whenever he chose to return to Belrea and take up ownership of the tavern... If he ever wanted to go back, so far he was having fun exploring Tendaji. "This place that good, huh?" he asked as they approached the tailor shop. Pulling at the top of his own shirt to try and find a bit of relief from the heat beneath the fabric, he looked back to Nasuri. "So is this shop owned by a friend of yours?"

Nasuri raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in her eyes as Owaen’s face flushed red while he spoke of his mother’s handiwork. "Sounds like she takes pride in her work," she remarked. His clothing, while sharp and well-tailored, didn’t scream homemade, it was clear his mother’s craftsmanship was far beyond average. The precise stitching and carefully chosen fabrics hinted at someone who cared deeply about presentation.
"This place?" Nasuri continued, shifting the topic as they made their way through the bustling streets. "Yeah, it’s one of the better ones around. It's not overpriced like some of the fancier shops, and the quality’s solid. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, so trust me, they know what they’re doing." She glanced at Owaen, who was still tugging at his collar, clearly suffering from the heat. "Once you get something lighter on, you’ll wonder why you didn’t strip down hours ago."
As they neared the shop, Nasuri mulled over his question about the owner. "Not really a friend," she said after a moment. "More like someone I’ve known forever." She shrugged, her tone casual but familiar, like the world of Sulburi’s tight-knit communities was second nature to her. "Sulburi’s big, sure, but people like me? We stick to our circles. The woman who runs this place is family-oriented too. She keeps things professional, but if you buy from her enough, she’ll start treating you like one of her own. It’s just how things work here."
She cast a glance at the Averin, now busily devouring its fruit, before looking back at Owaen. "You’re lucky you caught it early," Nasuri said with a smirk, nodding toward the bird. "That little guy could’ve wiped out half the market. And trust me, Sulburi’s vendors aren’t exactly the forgiving type when it comes to lost profits. They’ll have you paying twice for whatever that bird nabs."
Nasuri paused as they arrived at the familiar storefront of the tailor’s shop, a place she’d visited countless times. The faded wooden sign hung over the door, barely swaying in the faint breeze. It was unassuming, but to her, it meant quality and reliability. "Well, here we are," she said, jerking her head toward the entrance. "Let’s get you sorted. I’m sure you’ll find something that suits you." Nasuri stepped inside.

"She could open her own shop if she really wanted too, but mom mostly takes special orders." He mentioned, his gaze cast out to watch their surroundings. While he was a trusting person, there were always the possibility of someone shady somewhere. "Mom would take in more income of she did have a shop to sell her creations." This was more to himself, but it was loud enough to be heard. As they stood outside the shop he looked up at the weather worn sign that hung over the door. It barely moved in what little breeze there might have been outside. He glanced back towards Nasuri as she mentioned stripping out of his clothing due to the heat. "I do have my pride, plus I think I would burn easily in the sunlight here." he looked up towards the sky, the sun had drifted behind the buildings. Owaen was more of an indoor person, working to maintain order in his establishment and keeping the rabble happy. "The Averin wouldn't wipe out much on its own. If there were a flock then you'd have trouble. Should see migration season on Belrea. The market place is vacant for three days, until the flocks have passed on to the forests again." He laughed, "Most people stayed inside as well, then there would be those who would clean the streets of droppings. Unpleasant business when its migration season.""I shall take your word on the quality of the work, I know nothing will be like my mom's, but something lighter will be a great help. So I shall be right behind you." He said before following Nasuri into the establishment. The Duruf followed him as the Averin took back its perch on his shoulder and pack, large eyes staring around at the sights within. It still munched on its fruit, preoccupied and not too interested in things... Yet...

Nasuri stepped into the shop, her senses immediately filled with the comforting scent of fabric and the soft hum of conversation. “Hello!” she called out, her voice bright and inviting as she took in the scene before her. The interior was a delightful mix of colors and textures, with racks lined with clothing that promised both comfort and style. As she absorbed the atmosphere, she felt an excitement building; this was a treasure trove waiting to be explored.
“Is anyone here?” she asked, her curiosity piqued as she scanned the shop for the familiar face of Samiria among the busy customers.
“Just a few moments! I’ll be right with you!” The friendly response put Nasuri at ease, and she nodded. Turning back to the enchanting displays around her, she couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild with possibilities for Owaen’s new wardrobe.
As she wandered deeper into the shop, she caught sight of flowing garments in vibrant hues and intricate patterns, each piece seemingly crafted with care and attention to detail. Nasuri reached out to touch the soft fabrics, feeling the quality. The sensation of the textiles under her fingers sparked her creativity, and she began to envision how each item might look on her new friend.
“Your mom could really make a name for herself with a shop like this!” she exclaimed, glancing back at Owaen with excitement. “Just think of all the beautiful clothes she could share.” Turning her attention back to the racks, she added, “What kind of special orders does she usually take?” As she continued to browse, the anticipation of finding something special for him filled her with energy.
“I’d love to find something light and breathable for you,” she said. Picking up a loose-fitting shirt in a bright color, she held it up to the light, admiring how it seemed to catch the sun’s rays. “This one could be perfect! It’s not just about functionality; it’s also about style, and I want you to feel good in what you wear.” She searched for other options, eager to discover the right fit for him.

Owaen followed Nusari into the shop, the all too familiar smell of fabric smacked him in the face. Stopping a moment he looked around at all the finely crafted garments. The sight of the hanging fabric and the array of styles was astounding. This was more than what his mother kept around for selling. As Nasuri asked him a question, Owaen shook the haze from his head. "She makes mostly custom dresses for things like festivals and weddings. She will fit a man for a tux or something special." He answered as he too walked around the shop. He had heard the voice that answered from the back and he was curious to know who this person was. "If only she would listen and get herself a shop to sell her creations. She might even get more business that way too, right now she does everything out of the house."Owaen stopped at line of shirts and was looking them over. The work was as good as his mother's. They used a different stitch than she did, but it didn't take away from what they were looking for. Turning his head towards Nasuri he looked at the shirt that she had picked up. He wasn't too sure about the bright colors, he was a more subtle man and darker colors were more his thing. "That looks nice, but I don't think I would look that good in bright colors." Though his mother did have a saying, 'don't knock it until you try it on.'. And this was one of those moments he frowned at his own words, remembering. "Though Perhaps I should try it on to see what it would look like?"

Nasuri smiled knowingly as she held the brightly coloured shirt up to Owaen, studying the contrast of the vibrant hues against his more reserved, earth-toned outfit. His hesitation was almost endearing, she could see the conflict in his expression. She had always been drawn to bold colours, not just in her own clothing but in life. To her, colours were an expression of one’s spirit, a way of saying something without needing words.
"You might surprise yourself. You could be hiding a flamboyant streak beneath all that brooding, subtle exterior." Nasuri said with a teasing but slightly distracted lilt, stepping closer to him and holding the shirt up to his chest to get a better sense of how it might look. Her eyes twinkled mischievously, but there was a gentleness to her teasing. She lowered the shirt and took a step back, letting him decide. Nasuri didn’t believe in forcing people into things they weren’t ready for. But she also believed that everyone needed a little push sometimes, a nudge to step outside their comfort zone.
"As for your mother’s shop," Nasuri continued, her tone shifting to something more serious, "I get the sense that she’s content with the way things are. Some people like the intimacy of working from home, keeping things personal. But if she ever wanted to expand... well, someone like her could do wonders with a storefront. Her work is impeccable, after all."
Nasuri began walking again, her eyes drifting over the rows of finely crafted garments, noting the colours again. She picked out a few more that seemed to be more in line with his darker colour choices and of course added a little flair of colour too.
Glancing back at Owaen, she raised a brow. "So, what do you say? Give the shirt a try? You might surprise yourself."
