Jishui walked with Haik, not really knowing what to say, but not minding the silence. She was used to silence. Being in a botched state of stasis…everytime she woke, it was silence. Everything was silence. It was…a comfortable silence though. She knew she wasn't alone, and honestly, it made a lot of difference.
“We’re nearly there. I know it’s a long way, but I can show you better and easier ways to get to the reservoir if you ever want to go back and visit.”
Not live there. She wasn’t going to even suggest that he do that, but. Visiting, absolutely.
“She’s going to have to make you something, an item to help keep you looking…human. For me it simply changes my eyes, but you have a bit more to hide–it’s not that your uniqueness is bad. I had to be told this–but…humans. They panic easily.”
Rolling her eyes slightly, Jishui looked at her new friend and gave a small smile. “I find them…funny. The job I have, I see…quite a lot of humanity. It’s. They’re such a lot.”
And here she was, bringing him into the whole mess. Or, helping him get settled.

”Thanks, I would appreciate that,” he said, glancing down at his new friend. In truth they were actually just acquaintances, but he was more than happy to privately consider her as his friend. Savior, more like, but he had a feeling she’d prefer being called his friend as opposed to that. “Though I don’t think I’ll visit anytime soon given that I was there for quite some time before meeting you, but in the future it would be nice to be able to more conveniently get there and back.”
And by “anytime soon” he meant probably within the next few days. Access to bodies of water wasn’t needed, but he loved being in the water and couldn’t imagine going too long without being able to fully submerge and swim about freely.
He recalled the experience of swimming here for the first time with a grimace–he realized too late that he couldn’t breathe underwater like on his homeworld, so the rush to the surface was…alarming, to say the least–and was about to comment on how much that sucked when she began talk about the humans.
“Ah, yes,” he agreed with a little nod. “I might have nearly scared one half to death when I was floating a little too close to the shore during my first week there. I floated further out after that, so that didn’t happen again. Anyone else who came across me, was…”
Well. Also scared, but they never actually got so close that they interacted with him. And when he sensed them approaching he dove down and swam off and into hiding until they went away.
“Well, anyway. Funny seems a nice way to say it,” he said, himself amused at his interactions with them, limited as they’d been so far. “I am curious to learn more about them, though. Aside from easily startled, what else have you observed?”

“Well. From the rumors I’ve heard at my job…I think that the humans thought there was a monster or something at the reservoir? And I’m sure that you being there has only fed those rumors, no matter how late in the season it has become…”
It was nice. Talking with someone who truly understood. “They….have very…small attention spans. And very narrow interests…and are. Quite rude sometimes. I’ve noticed that a lot. They get extremely frustrated when they are hungry…and as I work somewhere that luxury food is dispensed, I…have seen the worst in them. They don’t understand what it is to be truly hungry and to them it is as if the world is ending when the flavor of ice cream they desire is out of stock.”
Jishui shook her head and had some obvious contempt, though she did try to hide it. She didn’t hate the humans…but. They did have very different priorities most of the time.
“We’re nearly there now, do you have any last questions before Julienne starts fussing over you?”

An expression of sudden clarity when she provided the missing piece to the puzzle of why someone would be so scared of someone floating innocently about in the water took over, and Haik gave a slow, sagely nod. “I’ll have to be more careful,” he commented before she went on with her additional observations. He listened carefully and willed himself to commit them to his memory–short attention spans, narrow interests, often rude, mood affected by hunger.
“They don’t sound particularly pleasant to be around,” he said with a little frown. “If we’re to spend an extended period of time here, it might be beneficial to make a few positive observations, too?”
There had to something likeable about them, right?
He shook her head at her last question, though. “No, I don’t think so. At least nothing off the top of my head, so I’m sure whatever eventually comes to mind can wait until after she’s all done.”

Jishui gave a soft laugh and shrugged. “They…are vibrant. Alive. Sometimes that’s more than enough. They…make me feel alive again. It’s nice. The chatter is nice sometimes. And I’m sure there are friendly humans out there, I simply haven’t…given myself the chance to find them. I should though. I suppose…I have been rather harsh.”
And perhaps that wasn’t fair to all of them.
“There she is.” Nodding towards the faint aura ahead, Jishui gave another smile.

Julienne sat, very demure. Very mindful, her tail twitching lightly as the two Senshi approached. Getting to her feet she padded over, rubbing herself around Jishui’s legs and then looking up at the new Senshi with a curious expression.
“Hello! Jishui has let me know that you need some help…fitting in here on Earth? You’ve been her for a while and haven’t been able to get settled? I’m so sorry that happened! I’m Julienne, and I’ll be able to get you a glamour so you can go about your life on Earth without anyone knowing, and I’ll also be able to get you items so that you’ll be able to go back to your Homeworld when you want to.”
Raising a paw, she rubbed at her nose for a moment, wriggling it, her whiskers twitching.
“Not all the time, you won’t have full access to your Homeworld, bu you’ll be able to go back, which…I’m sure you’ll want to do!”

Haik’s expression shifted into a slight smile as Jishui went on to compliment the humans, at least in some small way. It painted them in a brighter light, and he found himself a bit more hopeful that they weren’t entirely unpleasant.
The senshi gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder. “Hardly,” he said with another shake of his head. “Truthful is more like it, but I think you could be as truthful about both positive and negative things about them. Either way, I appreciate your insight!”
He glanced up when she nodded, and his smile only grew as Julienne introduced herself.
“Yes, she’s been extremely kind to me,” he said as she paused to rub at her nose, and before he could think to stop himself he had scooped the Mauvian up into as big a hug as he’d given Jishui when they first met. “I’m indebted to you both for the help you’re extending to me. Including the gift of being able to return home!”
It was an exciting prospect, if only because he at least now had a way to leave. There…wasn’t much to see in the depths of the oceans of his homeworld, anyway. Not anymore.

Jishui flushed slightly and gave a soft snort at Haik’s words and treatment of Julienne. This Mauvian was a sweet one, and she was glad that she had met her. Glad that she could bring her newfound…friend to meet her too.
For now though, she simply stretched and leaned against a tree while the other two spoke. She couldn’t really add much to the pot with this, but…she could answer any questions that Haik didn’t understand. She wasn’t an expert by any means…but.
They had both gone through the same things, after all.

Julienne gave what passed for a smile and her tail twitched and for a moment she just seemed to study the Senshi and finally, she gave a small nod and paused, rubbing her nose with her paw. It itched suddenly and she had to take care of that before she could do anything else!
Finally though, the feeling passed and she leaned back on her haunches, her butt wiggling as she worked out the best thing to give this Senshi…something…that fit with his vibe, and finally, with a slightly wobbly flip in the air, a necklace of shells and a small, sharp tooth appeared on the ground. “This will allow you to keep your…special features hidden when you’re powered down so that you can appear more human, and this…”
Another butt wiggle. Another moment. Another flip, this time not so wobbly, and a Senshi phone appeared on the ground next to the necklace. “This! Is going to be a very important item for you! It is what will allow you to keep in touch with other Senshi, as well as let you go back to your homeworld!”

Haik watched with growing curiosity as the Mauvian did her thing. Between rubbing her nose, wiggling her butt, and doing a flip, he had no idea what was going on but before he knew it a necklace and some kind of device appeared on the ground out of thin air. Some bit of their magic, he was sure, and he was supremely impressed.
The senshi was grinning wide as he picked each up and listened carefully to the explanation Julienne gave.
“Hard to believe these can do all that,” he said as he slipped the necklace on, unsure what to expect. Nothing seemed to happen so he blinked confusedly between Julienne and Jishui. “Uh…did I do it wrong?” he asked once he looked back at Julienne. He pointed to the phone at that time, too. “And how does one use this to do what you said it does?”

Jishui had to look away. The amount of wiggling that Julienne was doing was just too cute, and finally, she reached out and took hold of the Mauvian, moving to sit down. “It won’t work until you’re powered down. You see my eyes? My eyes glow naturally, but…with my bracelet that Julienne here gave me…”
She closed her eyes for a moment, and then powered down, opening them and looking at Haik. “No glow when I masquerade as a human. When I’m powered. When I’m Jishui...I am me, as you will be you…but. We can hide as civilians here on Earth.”

Julienne happily curled up in Monika’s lap, beginning to purr softly. She nodded at the woman’s explanation, proud of her. She was saying the right things, and sounded confident…though, she couldn't help but notice that she left the explaining about the phone to her…which.
That was fair.
“If you’re looking to go back to your homeworld, you’ll press and hold the button in the center. Be careful you don’t do it right now though, or you’ll go right back up there…there will be a limit, like I said for how often you can go? As you get stronger…or…get stronger again, I suppose…”
She looked at him, her eyes questioning. Julienne knew that often, the Senshi who came to Earth had been stronger in the past. “You’ll be able to go up more, as you grow. And there are things on the phone–applications! There is one called Connections, which I’ll have Jishui help you to get on there! It’s a wonderful resource! It lets you meet all sorts of other Senshi and Knights! You’ll make so many friends!”
Her tail twitched and she blinked. “If you want them, that is!”

Haik watched as Jishui powered down, noting the sudden disappearance of the glow in her eyes with a slow nod. “I see. I…can’t even recall when I last powered down, but if I must in order to live amongst these people…”
The Senshi closed his eyes, focusing briefly before powering down as well. When he next opened his eyes and looked himself over, he immediately noticed his lack of claws and scales. He also saw that he was wearing the formal robes he’d been gifted the day he took the mantle of Haik. A stream of memories flowed to the fore of his mind, one after the other, and the agonizing reality of living through the ruin of his planet flickered in his eyes. Just for a second, before he exerted every ounce of energy he had into controlling those thoughts and wrestling them back to the furthest reaches of his mind, and he was back to what had become his normal over the past couple hundred years..
He took a breath, then, and took a seat across from Jishui–or whatever name she went by as this version of herself–and Julienne. Smiling broadly, he turned his eyes to Julienne as she proceeded to clarify the phone thing. He gave another nod of understanding by the end, inspecting the device for another long moment following before promptly tucking it away for use later.
“Seems I’ve a lot to learn, and I’m looking forward to it! But…I can see that my choice of dress might also not be fitting for this planet. And as for my name…? And earlier, you also spoke of a job. Is that all necessary for me as well?”

Monkia gave a soft, somewhat uncomfortable laugh. She understood that. Not remembering when she had last powered down. It hadn’t been a good feeling, when she had first done it here…but she had gotten used to it. When he did power down, she couldn’t help but wince slightly. “You will need new clothing…but we can take care of that. It’s one very good thing about the Earth…there is no…no lack. Not of anything, really. I’m sure you’ll understand when you’ve been here longer.”
She sympathized, really. It was a very big change…and he had been here all alone…just living in the reservoir…
“What were you called when you weren’t Haik? I am Monika, when I’m like this. When I’m pretending to be a human.”

Julienne hummed softly. “If you both don’t mind, I’d like to come back with you tonight. I want to get everything all set up for you, Haik. I want to make sure we get you in the system. A job isn’t…necessary...I can get you things that you’ll need, but it is helpful for fitting in and making connections on the Earth…connections that aren’t magical. If you want them, I mean. It’s not needed…but the money always does help!”
She couldn’t expect Monika to take care of him but…it didn’t seem like the girl was protesting. At least not now. “If you want to wait and see what the Earth has to offer, you can do that, but…we should get back to Monika’s place right now, you aren’t dressed…for…”
Julienne trailed off and hopped out of the woman’s lap, stretching. “...For much here on Earth…and it’s too early for Halloween!”
