It had been a bit since he’d helped Valeria out after she’d been injured while on patrol and tonight he had an idea to make sure she’d healed well. It might also help him see a bit more of what sort of boosts he’d gotten to his strength because of his promotion as well. Sending out a message to the pink-haired corrupt, he mentioned meeting in one of the training rooms if possible to make sure her shoulder had healed well.

Walking down the halls, he chose the same room he’d sparred with his cousin in since it had been far enough away from the busier areas to lend some peace and quiet during things. He wasn’t really looking to fight her wholeheartedly but it would be easier to make sure things were fine if he didn’t have distractions from busy halls or loud youma that wandered sometimes.

Sitting at one of the tables, he continued reading through the reports he’d typed up about the plants and things his cousin had worked on. Anything to not think about the appointment he’d had with his doctor lately and the bombshell they’d dropped on him. It was like walking through a minefield of his own making and he really didn’t like that.

Thinking for a moment, he wondered if he could maybe ask some questions while framing it as one of his family members was young and new to things and he didn’t know how to help given his busy schedule as a doctor. It wasn’t a lie per say but he needed to figure something out and get another opinion. There was no way he was going to bring things up to his cousin yet though, not with Rene around. Just the idea of what comments the Frenchman might make caused his eye to twitch slightly.

Turning to face the door as he heard Valeria come in, he waved slightly. “Training yes but also to make sure you’ve healed up correctly. I know my first aid was done rather quickly and in less than ideal lighting so I wanted to see how you’re feeling and if you have full range of motion and strength back.” She looked a bit tired, and so was he between work and the vexing predicament he found himself with.

“Also… I want to ask you for advice on how to best direct a family member of mine. It’s been bothering me lately and I wanted to get a second opinion as it were because my cousin is rather…. Terrible at listening to me.” It would be easier to throw his cousin under the bus as a proxy for his own issue. At least until he sorted things out himself.

“Understandable and this line of work doesn’t assist with the healing process either.” So much extra stress could come from an attack or landing wrong while moving between things in the city. Nodding he was glad they’d gotten a second opinion in a better place than a park. “That’s goof then, however you want to do this is fine with me though I would prefer no magic.”

Shifting his weight between his feet he half pulled his arms up in a boxer’s stance. “My cousin seems to be more distracted lately, I think maybe they might be interested in someone but from what I can tell the other person isn’t one that has an interest in things. I’ve seen them a few times in the city and I believe they work with my cousin. I really have no idea if that in itself is a good idea but he seems a bit more worried about things lately.”

Shaking his head and sighing, he tried to sound like an exasperated family member even if the issue was his own to sort through.

“Good, we can work with that then.” Once she’d gotten ready he swung at her, more to just test the difference in his strength now that he was a Captain and not looking to actually go for an area that would hurt more.

Hitting the nail directly on the head, he was glad he brought it up to her but he kept his flat expression as he listened and took mental notes on it all. “I see, so he should find out if they’re interested but I wonder if it’s something he should ask directly or not. You see my cousin is one that jumps into things, it’s honestly how I got pulled into all this. Not that I mind and I still manage to keep doing what I do on the other side of things.”

He still felt that he might be that way, or at least partially though he knew he’d felt differently seeing their back with those piercings. But he tried not to think of it now in case Valeria took a swing at him in his momentary pause.

He took the hit, but it didn’t feel like it hurt as much as it might have in the past. He still cringed inside but then took a moment to swing back. “Okay, I guess that is proper to ask given not everyone may be like my cousin when it comes to things. He’s had…. An interesting track record with things and jumping in.”

Getting into the flow of things it was easier to add more truth to the matter even if he figured his cousin would not be amused by it. It was better this way though because he knew he’d have to deal with René if he asked Alexandre for advice.

“I see, if I remember correctly this person seems to plan things and is meticulous. At least in part though they have a similar habit of jumping into things when it comes to a fight in this line of work.” Nodding to himself, he’d see how they handled things in a fight though with at least a bit more awareness of self risk from what he’d seen. But that was a small blip of the amount of time they’d been doing this from what he’d gathered.

“See… this is why I focus on work, my brother was the one who got married and has children. Which I do have over from time to time but the whole mess of getting to that point just is not something I feel is my priority. I have patients and family to care for and of course this as well.” It was a lot to juggle but as always he scheduled and managed it well. It was only becoming a problem because now things were getting complicated and lines were blurring in his head. It was vexing….

Nodding, he got an arm down to take the hit instead of on his side. It hurt, as expected, but he knew that a hit to his side could cause problems at work maybe. Not that he figured either of them were really trying to cause harm, mostly just going through things to figure it out.

“I see, it sounds like my cousin has his work cut out for him.” Shaking his head again, he was glad to hear their thoughts on the meticulous personality of the other person. It was a relief in a way but at the same time, it could make things more difficult. He’d have to approach things carefully.

“I know my cousin, well my whole family, is very much about children. So that would be something that I figure may be an issue depending on the other party. I know I enjoy spending time with my brother’s children when they visit but not everyone has the same opinion on children.” And considering Kioshi had lost memory of their family would they even be interested in something like that. It wasn’t a deal killer for him as he didn’t plan on anything in the way of children until later in life after he got more research done for his clinic.

Kicking low, he aimed for their foot to try and destabilize their position. “I have a lot to chew on and figure out for my cousin, I hate seeing him distraught, especially after hearing his long tale of woes. Family is very important to me even if he pushes my buttons from time to time.”
