Snickering, she draped herself over her latest victim, poking and prodding at his face with an amused smile. Civilians were so easy it made energy gathering boring. Her little trap bore fruit however since she could feel the order signature of a….Squire? Or was it a Page? Hoping for the latter, she quietly laid there, waiting to see what she would get.
She’d sense the aura of Chaos about halfway into her patrol for the evening. Ekstrom had been hoping for a straightforward evening, though she opted to go for a longer patrol than usual tonight. Something about being home was unsettling for her tonight. Call it intuition?
Maybe just restlessness.
Either way, she promised Lulu an extra treat and all the cuddles she could want when she got back, so she had been hopeful. Sensing the aura had dampened her spirits some, but it didn’t sour her mood any. It was part of her responsibilities as a knight, after all, and she took it very seriously. She’d been taking extra care to not walk into traps, though, so she took her time approaching.
Whoever it was, was on some kind of spree, and after confirming for a third time that whoever it was, was alone, the Squire finally made her approach.
“You really couldn’t settle for just the one, huh?” she asked as she spotted the senshi not too far off from, currently still holding onto another civilian. Ekstrom frowned at the sight, and was already wondering how she could possibly separate the two, and then get close enough to get hold of the civilian and get them to safety.
That was her main concern.
Well she didn't have the luck of the draw, but that didn't mean this wasn't something she couldn't work with. One blonde eyebrow rose at the question, “ Mmmmn….Not really. I do have a quota to keep after all.” The civilian under her mumbled something about ice cream and she moved her hand to drain some more energy, “Shhhhhhh…..” The poor man fell right back into his slumber, none the wiser of what was happening. “You could always walk away. No one is forcing you to save these poor things.”
She's never really tried her powers on a female before so this would prove interesting. Of course Meinel knew her powers would work on anyone, but there was still that small doubt in the back of her head.
The frown on the other blond's face was cute, she supposed.
Slowly, the corrupted senshi removed herself from the civilian, stretching with a mock yawn. She wasn't stupid, she made sure to stay VERY close to the civilian, waiting before she used her powers. The squire would have to be closer as well but let's see what she does first.
The frown deepened, and she felt the strain of it for once. It was uncharacteristic of her to wear such an expression, but watching her drain the civilian back into a slumber was upsetting enough, never mind being told she could just walk away as if an innocent person’s safety wasn’t a concern for her as someone who was part of this war. This poor man had no idea what was even happening to him…
No, walking away wasn’t an option. Not like this, anyway, against someone who felt like they were a rank below her in power.
Ekstrom noted the way she stuck close to the civilian, no doubt to use as leverage at the right time. Not knowing what her opponent was capable of doing, though, made things a bit…tricky, but not impossible. It was a distance and timing thing, and with any luck whatever magic she had could be dealt with by her own magic.
“As if,” she murmured, and not wanting to spend too much time planning, the Squire finally dashed forward. When she was only a few feet from the senshi and her hostage she swung her shield to drive it into the ground while focusing on her magic. Her forcefield burst forth from her shield on impact, and quickly spread out to surround her. Unsure of what the senshi’s magic was, she willed it to absorb incoming magic, and she set her eyes on the senshi and waited–hoped, more like–for the forcefield to move past her.
” “
Ekström holds her shield out as if using it to defend herself. Upon focusing, a forcefield materializes from her shield and surrounds her and anyone within 10 feet of her. The forcefield is light blue and glitchy in appearance. She has a magic pool of 40 seconds. For the duration of her casting, the forcefield can either absorb or reflect (which one it does is up to her at the time of casting) all magical effects up to her rank. It can lessen the damage of third stage magic but has no effect on fourth stage magic. Reflected magic is only as strong as basic level magic if it does hit someone (she has no control over the direction the magic is reflected). She cannot reflect third or fourth stage magic. Individuals are able to touch and/or pass through the forcefield, however enemies that do will feel as though something inside their body is short circuiting, causing mildly sharp pains to run through their entire body. For a few seconds moving becomes a little bit uncomfortable. Magic is unaffected and unhindered within the forcefield.
Ugh! This was going to be a battle she was not sure she wanted to stick around for. If push came to shove she would call Beni with no hesitation. Either way, the forcefield did not feel like it would be a good thing, but it was too late for her to move out of the way. “Tch! Why must you ruin my fun? Do you order people have nothing else better to do other than picking on those weaker than you?” yes she was going to play that card, no she did not feel bad. Since she didn't know what the barrier did, Meinel stayed close to the civilian, placing her hands behind her back just in case she had no choice but to use her powers. For right now, she would try to see if she could utilize her ballet skills with her fighting again like she did on the knight with the shell.
With a frustrated sigh, she got a bit closer to the knight, blue eyes narrowed while she slowly started to dance around her opponent
As expected, the forcefield didn’t do much to deter her physically. Ekstrom sighed and yanked her shield out of the ground, causing the forcefield to flicker off almost immediately. The word “fun” was particularly triggering for her, never mind the completely hypocritical accusation of being picked on for being weaker than her considering she was currently holding a powerless civilian hostage.
“If this is what you consider ‘fun’ I don’t feel bad at all for ruining it,” she said rather calmly despite the irritation the other’s words had triggered. It was usually pretty hard to get on her nerves, but this Corrupt Senshi was doing a mighty fine job of that. She and this specific flavor of Chaos were ill-fated, it seemed.
Save for one, maybe. Ilmare came to mind then, though she tucked the thought of her friend (as far as she was concerned, anyway) so she could focus on the Corrupt Senshi here in front of her.
Still unsure what her powers were, the Squire was still waffling on the idea of making the first move to close the gap between them. The civilian was her main concern, and how long they could last in their current state…
Not that their life seemed to be in immediate danger, but she knew full well how twisted Corrupt Senshi could be so it was hard to say.
Ekstrom watched the other dance for a long moment before finally coming to her decision. Even if it was a nice little performance, the civilian was still in immediate danger as far as she was concerned. Which meant she couldn’t just stand here and wait for the perfect opportunity to rain down from the sky.
In the next moment, she again struck the ground with her shield, and as soon as the tip touched down the forcefield erupted once more from her weapon and spread out, quickly passing over those within range of it. She waited until it came in contact with her opponent–or until her opponent moved to avoid it–before again yanking her shield from the ground and rushing her, intent on slamming into the Corrupt with her shield.
The shield hit her this time and it was not a pleasant feeling.
Meinel was knocked back a bit, the civilian was now to the right of her rather than in front of her, which was annoying but not something she couldn't work with. Keeping the civilian near her is what mattered, but this little blue creature was going to make it difficult. “Tch…” The corrupt didn't have enough time to think before the brute was charging at her. Meinel had to time this right otherwise she was sure the thing would catch on and back off. Waiting till she was close enough to almost touch her, Meinel ran her finger along the palm of her hand while they were behind her back, activating her powers.
Hopefully since she was so close the scent would affect her quicker but who knows.
”Oleander’s Allure”
For her basic attack, Meinel would produce a scent that smells like a nice floral wine once she runs her finger along any exposed skin on her body, which would slowly seep out up to ten feet in a circle from her. Inhaling this scent can cause her opponent to become drawn towards her [with permission], in which they would slowly become dizzy and disoriented. This worsens the closer the person is to Meinel herself. This can last for 20 seconds and can end sooner if the person is able to leave the 10 foot radius. This can be used three times in battle.
The scent struck her before the headache did, but by then it was too late to back off without feeling like she had wasted a perfectly good opportunity to make a grab for the civilian. Scrunching her brows together to focus, Ekstrom quickly changed trajectory and charged for the civilian immediately to her opponent’s right. Granted she slammed right into the poor guy, but at least she got him.
The momentum sent them flying, of course, and in an effort to maybe get rid of some effects of the magic as well as slow them down so she could get some proper footing under her, she stuck her shield into the ground again.
The forcefield was again in place, and focusing to absorb whatever magic it came in touch with, she felt very slight relief from the headache, but barely. It was still enough that she found it difficult to think straight, which meant she couldn’t hang around to play for too much longer. At this rate she was bound to puke if it got any worse…
The civilian was safe and sound with her now, though, and none the wiser–he was still knocked out.
“I win,” she said as they came to a full stop, and she flashed the Corrupt a smug little grin before sprinting off into the treeline, running as hard and as fast as she could go. She managed to get the civilian out of harm’s way, and that was enough for her.
Meinel thought she would have won at this point once she saw how her powers started to affect the Squire, but instead the little chit decided to make a beeline for her hostage. She had no choice but to watch as they went flying, stomping her foot on the ground like a child. “Ugh! Stupid cheat!” Well that turned out…Actually a lot better than she thought. She wasn't all that harmed and there would be no need to see Lorcan for healing so that was a good thing. Sighing, Meinel took off in the opposite direction with the intent to find at least one more civilian to complete her quota.
