Sadie texted two people as soon as they touched down back on Earth. One was Michelangelo, who it seemed that Minnie had already talked to. She had full faith in his ability to help them with this, and he would probably be able to do it on his own. She texted Ignacio, too, though. He’d used to be so good about things like this, and one of the things that they’d bonded about early on was the desire to save people. It had been over a year since the disaster with Faustite, though, and for all the ways that he’d slowly recovered during that time, he’d never quite been able to see purification as a realistic option again, or even as a possibility.

If Sadie trusted anyone to prove him wrong about that, she trusted her sister.

Quote:
Meet me in my room in half an hour. It’s an urgent situation.

Minnie trusted Sadie to have good friends. She’d seemed happier since she’d moved in with them, after all. That being said, since she was about to reveal herself to them as someone from the Negaverse who needed help, she wanted to make as good of an impression on them as she could. She insisted on rinsing off in the shower after they got back from Neptune, and doing a five minute makeup, and to change into her cute romper with the cherries.

Then she might have gone over the speed limit to get them to Sadie’s house in time. It was a nice house, she thought, as they walked through the main area and up the stairs to Sadie’s room.

Quote:
Urgent?

Ignacio didn't really like the wording of urgent. What would be urgent that she wouldn't use any actual descriptors for? She could explain what the situation was. Give him a heads up on what to expect, maybe? Warn him? Let him do a few warm-ups so he knew what he was walking into?

Quote:
You're alright, right?

So he had a half an hour? Why was she giving him prep time without telling him what was up?

His anxiety was generally through the roof as he emerged from his room of mirrors across the hall for Sadie's room and–

“... Michel?”

“Oh, hey Ig.” Why did he look so calm?

Quote:
I’m okay. My sister needs some help. We’re heading over.

She texted Ignacio from the car, knowing that he tended to get anxious about these things. He would probably be more anxious once he knew the full story, but she needed him to support her, right now, with her own nerves buzzing just under the surface. She needed him to trust her, for the situation to work out.

She hoped that those nerves, from everyone, would be short lived.

The two were already there to meet her when she came up the stairs. “Ignacio,” she said, hugging him first, tightly. “Michelangelo,” she said, hugging him, too.

“This is my sister,” she said.

“Hey,” said Minnie, blinking at the two handsome men who had appeared out of nowhere. Probably not the thing to focus on. Right. “I’m Minnie. Minerva, if you have to get technical.”

Not wanting to drag things out more, Sadie added, “The situation is that she’s been recruited into the Negaverse.”

Ignacio's hug was a tight friendly one, as per his usual, and Michelangelo's was a swinging tighter one around her middle with a laugh. “Sadie!” chirped he, first, followed up with Ignacio's,

“Who's this–”

Of course, Minnie, or Minerva, introduced herself in short order. Ignacio offered a playful salute, and Michelangelo offered a gallant bow, glancing up when Sadie mentioned the real reason for the urgency. He didn't notice Ignacio's shift, unphased by the new information.

“What's your name there? That they gave you?” Even if it was an incorrect name, technically– “I've been working with a couple people recently.” Well, mostly just one, but it was better to keep things vague when he was dealing with stuff that could still be traced back to a source. “Might be nice to know if you're one of the ones I've been working with.”

How was he so casual about this? Ignacio did his best to not give Michelangelo a conflicted glance and did succeed in that one, but it didn’t stop him from looking over to him. There was a member of the Negaverse. In their house. Well. Not his house, he guessed. Michelangelo could go anywhere else if he really wanted, but a lot of people he knew spent a lot of time there–

Which included Sadie! Who was in front of them!

The person who called this urgent!

They guessed they understood why Sadie was being nonspecific now, but Ignacio couldn't quite wrap their mind around the reaction even if the easy smile hadn't quite left their face. “Guess his question’s as good of a place to start as any!”

Michelangelo offered a sidelong glance at Ignacio but didn't say anything specific, following up with, “So you're Sadie’s sister then?”

Her name? “Minyulite,” she answered easily, “Although I’ve been going by Minnie there, too. Easier to say, yeah?”

Had he been working with her? She remembered Sadie saying that she might have met one of her Neptune knight friends, but she didn’t see any resemblance between that guy and this one. “Unless you secretly have a saxophone or something, though, I don’t think you’re the dude I talked to.”

While Michel and Minnie seemed to be getting along fine, Sadie stood close to Ignacio, took his hand, and ran her thumb over the back of his knuckles. Minnie was squinting at his face. “You, though. You look familiar.” She squinted. “Have you been on TV?” She turned to her sibling. “That one’s Ignacio? The guy you moved in with? He’s like, been in shows and stuff?” Minnie nodded, impressed. “Bro.”

Sadie was doing okay for herself, she could tell.

“But, yeah, I’m Sadie’s sister.” She smiled easily. “Do you need me to prove it? The Negaverse thing? I can do the thing.”

Sadie shook her head. “Not here,” she said. “It’s not safe. Maybe later.”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2024 1:37 pm

Minnie, Minnie, convenient for her to have a nickname that could cross both forms without causing an identity leak! Though he supposed the sooner he got her away from that other name–Minyulite–the better. Sadie had brought her to the right place, he supposed. And… sounded like he was in the process of doing so, too. He couldn't quite help the way the edge of his lip curved into a smirk.

“Well, horn players do have nimble fingers,” he idly admired his own fingers as his voice dropped, for a moment. He let that sit for a second before he glanced back up to her with a wink. “I have several saxophones, including one I gain when I'm a knight, actually! Think I am the squire you're looking for. Do I look familiar now that I've said that?”

She was looking familiar too now, actually.

Sadie's sister! Of all people he could have located! … Definitely ******** mission accomplished in convincing her to start leaving the Negaverse then, damn. He couldn't help glancing back toward Sadie as Sadie moved back toward Ignacio.

Ignacio was doing his best at being called out for being on television. In all honesty, he tended to roll with it! He wasn't necessarily used to being called out for it by current Negaverse agents, but what else could he do? Sadie's thumb on his knuckles was helping a bit– “Oh, yeah. I've done a few interviews recently. Late night shows. Partially connected with the movie that came out recently?” He shot her a grin.

“That and I used to be a telenovela actor–”

Oh.

Oh no no no–

It was honestly good that Sadie got in front of Minnie transforming, or Ignacio would have probably lost some of the charisma and masking he had slipped into rapidly. This was definitely not a wise place for her to henshin. Viatrix had an emergency thing somewhere but he had no idea where and he didn't think he could get it quickly enough to not compromise–

“We believe you– sounds like both Sadie and Michel back you up anyway,” and then she wouldn't compromise the house.

Right. Easy.

He might have been holding onto Sadie's hand instead of letting her rub it now, though. Michelangelo did glance back toward him for a moment, but said nothing other than, “Yeah, she's honestly looking familiar now that she said saxophone. Think I have an easy calling device, what can I say?”

Oh, so Michelangelo was the saxophone knight. She could see it now, even as his comment about his fingers and his wink got a not-unappreciative chuckle out of her. Cute. “Yeah, okay,” she said, nodding. Honestly, she was glad to run into him again. He’d been really helpful with giving her information before, so if he was gonna be on the team of people who would help her get her life together, she trusted him.

“Oh, yeah. I think I saw that movie,” she told Ignacio, looking him over and nodding. “I liked it. You did good.” It wasn’t like she ever read the credits, or honestly even paid much attention to celebrities on social media or whatever, so she hadn’t made the connection before now.

She accepted it pretty quickly, though. Of all the weird things going on in her life right now, meeting an actor was not at the top of the list.

“Okay. You know I have to ask, though,” she said, looking between the three of them, and especially the way Ignacio was holding onto Sadie, “Are these your boyfriends?”

Sadie, who had been struggling with the labels for all this for a long time, hesitated a second too long and then swallowed before saying, “It’s not quite like that. Um-”

Minnie cut her off. “Friends with benefits?”

Sadie didn’t seem offended by the question, but answered this one more quickly. “No.”

“I mean, it’s okay if they are,” said Minnie, mostly teasing. “I’ve got ‘em.”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2024 1:38 pm

Michelangelo's suave grin when she chuckled at him was definitely hard to miss, but he seemed to slide into his easy charisma when she admitted to recognizing him too. “Glamour. Someone you know as both forms won't even register until they reveal themselves. Like now. Neptune Saxophone me is Abzu.”

He was, of course, specific with the Neptune. The relationship with saxophones didn't end when he wasn't a knight anymore…

“Oh, thanks!” rolled not quite as easily into Minnie’s next question of if he was dating Sadie, and while Sadie eventually said not quite like that, Ignacio found himself a bit like a deer in the headlights. He was used to getting asked about his husband, or if he was single, not about another partner and especially not about Sadie–

Michelangelo, though, gave an outright affectionate laugh when she pushed further to ask if they were friends with benefits, clearly messing with her sibling but also– “I mean, I have friends with benefits too-”

“I'm married,” Ignacio eventually defended himself, clearing his throat.

“I mean, one of my friends with benefits is married too,” Michelangelo paused, adding, “consensual, of course,” to Minnie, as Ignacio interrupted again with,

and monogamous-- our relationship is a bit different.”

Michelangelo glanced to Ignacio, his lip twitching upwards in amusement. “I mean, benefits can be defined in a lot of ways. But Sadie and I are close, yes, just not like that. They're close to Ig too.”

“Okay. So, Ignacio’s all cute and committed, and one of the first things that I’ve learned about Michel over here is that he gets around in his free time, but not with you.” Minnie chuckled again, but seemed good natured about it. She didn’t even comment on the fact that the one Sadie was clinging too like that was the one who was making a point about being monogamous.

“I’ll stop, though. I get it. You’re ace. Friends are cool, too.”

She was just gonna have to dig a little deeper over time to figure out if it would be weird for her to start returning Michelangelo’s winks.

“I understand the curiosity,” said Sadie, in her soft way. “They’re important to me.”

“We’ve got more important stuff to do anyway, yeah?” asked Minnie, shifting her weight to one side, hand on her hip. “Apparently the only way out of this whole Negaverse situation involves maybe losing all my memories and definitely losing my job and all of my friends, benefits or no.”

Should she be serious right now? Maybe. Was she smirking anyway? Yeah.

Easier than crying about it.

“So, I might need some help, I guess.”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2024 1:39 pm

Michelangelo didn't even bat an eye at having his promiscuity commented on. He might have, instead, lifted a finger to give her a playful, entirely unserious finger gun. Ignacio couldn't quite resist rolling his eyes. “Oh please, it doesn't bother you that much-”

“Just don't remind me of your relationship with my father-in-law and we're good.”

Michelangelo quirked a brow.

“... I just did it to myself, didn't I-?”

Happy to accidentally pry Ignacio's brain away from the actual problem and the actual reason why he seemed to be gripping Sadie's hand like a vise, Michelangelo turned his attention to Minnie. “Yeah, the memory loss thing. Absolutely sucks. Listen though, you're in the right place. Even better that you're Sadie’s sister. She already lives in the place that I'd be recommending you get hooked up with.”

Ignacio cleared his throat. “Right.” They were supposed to be… not panicking. Probably. There was an agent *in the house*. “My husband made it a whole thing to help people out in this – part of why this house got set up the way it did. And I have a Mauvian. She's probably somewhere around here.”

If she wouldn't just appear.

Viatrix had a way of doing that–

“Even helped a priest get his credentials back once he purified. She's pretty proud of that one.”

“Oh, Teegan right?” Michelangelo grinned. “Love him.”

Sadie was the one who wound up giggling at the father-in-law comment. Minnie blinked in surprise. “You are?” she asked, not judging, just curious. She looked between the two of them. Michelangelo didn’t look like he was fresh out of college or anything, but, “How old are you?” she couldn’t help but ask.

Was it easier to focus on relationship dynamics than the fact that her life was about to fall apart? Maybe.

Although, in some ways it also made her feel better to know that there were some people who she could hang out with like this and just chat with after everything went through.

“That’s really cool that you have a plan for this kind of situation,” she told Ignacio, “‘Cause, like, sometimes it feels like I sure don’t, bruh.”

“I think you’re doing better than you might think,” said Sadie. “You came to see me. That took a lot of courage. You agreed to come here. You also were saying that you’ve been getting your pictures together, so you can remember things.” Of all of the purifications that Sadie had seen, it seemed that somehow her impulsive sister was better prepared than some of the others.

For example, hadn’t the priest, Teegan, ended his Negavere career locked in a bathroom?

“I have $50 in my bank account. I guess I should spend that first? I can get everyone a round of Starbucks to pre-celebrate, I guess? Or booze if you’d rather.” Personally, Minnie thought she might save the booze for after, but she was open to suggestions.

“What else do I need to set up?”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2024 1:40 pm

Michelangelo, for fun, turned those finger guns toward Sadie too. He, of course, wasn't actually flirting with her, but he was snickering afterwards. A snicker that led to him pausing, blinking, and then asking, “Wait, how old am I– dammit where's Zee when I need them? Ig do you know?”

Ignacio reeled before letting out a surprised half-laugh. “How am I supposed to know?”

Michelangelo thought about it for another few moments, before offering, “38?” Then after another moment, he said, “No, no. 37. I think.” Maybe. “I don't know, I'm a millennial. Millennial born in the late 80s.”

Ignacio couldn't help a snort. Somehow, Michelangelo's charismatic half-flirtations with Minnie were offering a decent distraction. Sadie’s hand in his was doing a lion’s share of work, though, and even though he was starting to shift a bit in place it could be easy to blame that on his own ADHD versus anything else.

“If you think it would help you, I've actually seen some people record videos of themselves, or write journals of themselves, talking about what their memories are in both versions of themselves. They help solidify things.” Ignacio swallowed, keeping the strength despite the fact that his mind was screaming that at any moment this agent could power up and decide that Abzu's swagger was not enough to save him from death. “If there's something in your life that you found important, that you earned, you should pull that to the side and let us know about it so we can see if we can mimic it on our side.”

Michelangelo cleared his throat.

“Ah, don't worry too much about money. We have a place for you to land, and also we have a way for you to support yourself until you can get back on your feet. That being said, anything you do have, definitely just go ahead and pull out or go through. It's just going to otherwise become inaccessible for you.”

She may eventually get access back to it, because she had access to her family, who would eventually get access to her assets, but that might take years. Better to just not have to worry about it up front.

“Definitely will never protest a drink though.”

“Did you have anything you were working on, or businesses, projects?” asked Ignacio, cautiously.

The obvious next question would be how old the father-in-law was, but Minnie decided to let that one go. They were both clearly farther into this adult thing than she was, and MIchelangelo was being responsible about everything, so she wasn’t going to tease him about it.

Yet.

Now that they were past the introductions and getting down to brass tacks, Sadie pushed open the door to the room. “We can sit down or something,” she said, and then let go of Ignacio’s hand for long enough to step into her bohemian style oasis of cushions and plants. She perched on the edge of the bed, cross-legged.

“I dunno about the journal,” said Minnie, glancing down as some of her bluster dropped away for the first time since she’d gotten to the house. “Yeah. I’ll be fine.” They didn’t need to watch her struggle to write stuff down, or to know that she didn’t have the attention span to get through a video essay, much less make one. Luckily, Sadie jumped in, saying, “I can talk to you about things afterwards, too.”

As Minnie walked into the room, she plopped down on the floor and wrapped herself up in one of Sadie’s blankets. Then, she looked at Ignacio.

“So, for work, I’m a personal trainer,” she told him. “I do some work for gyms, and I’ve also been branching out into running my own fitness events at the colleges and stuff. I take work opportunities as they come, which is how I ended up getting the job that turned out to be a front for this Negaverse stuff.” She made a face. “So, I’m pretty flexible with work stuff, but I do have a couple certifications it would be nice to get back if I could.”

Sadie smiled softly at the others. “Should be easier than hacking the Vatican,” she said.

Minnie raised an eyebrow at that, but mostly it just made her feel like she was in good hands.

“I guess it’d be too suspicious for me to keep my car,” she said, but seemed to take that in stride, only for her face to fall all at once. “Wait, my motorcycle,” she said. “<********>.”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2024 1:43 pm

“Yeah, you actually have an advantage that quite a few people don't have when they purify! You got your whole sibling here with you!” Michelangelo shot Sadie a grin as he decided he was just going to plop himself down on the edge of her bed. He didn't lay on it–he knew that would be a mistake, he'd be out like a light–but nevertheless. “So you have someone who you can rely on to tell you the truth of who you were.”

Or maybe she'd get lucky like Teegan had and remember primarily the civilian portion. Seemed like that was the ideal result, considering.

How much time had she even spent as an agent?

Seeing Minnie step into Sadie's room somehow made Ignacio more nervous, not less, but what the hell was he supposed to do? This was Sadie's sister. She wasn't doing anything. She was just talking about being a personal trainer and her motorcycle and asking Michelangelo and Sadie questions. Powering up to kick her out of the house at the very least would have been uncalled for. Probably?

Her even being there was against house rules to some degree but they weren't sure how to handle it other than just responding with a, “Oh, we can get those certs back for you easy. Honestly, Sadie's right. After the Vatican this is probably nothing.”

Probably. They weren't Mauvian. The hell did they know–

The motorcycle was a bigger issue, though. Car? “I mean, we could just buy you a new car. Same model even, if you want.” For the amount that Michelangelo had just tried to hide how much money he had, he certainly didn't try to hide it now. Ignacio quirked a brow at him, but didn't say anything. “I know bikes tend to have a lot of personal meeting wrapped up in them though.”

“Do you?”

“I mean, I've been with biker boys before.” Michelangelo snickered. Why was Ignacio even surprised-. “They do love their rides. I mean, we can look at getting the title transferred?”

“Couldn't be direct though. That would tell the Negaverse where she was immediately.”

“Of course not! Maybe Vi has some ideas.”

“Oh, yeah. Me and my bike have stories, bro,” Minnie said, wrapping the blanket tighter as she smiled in that nostalgic kind of way. “Ten states. Plenty of stickers. Our own biker boys.” She glanced at Michelangelo with a knowing half nod. “I know bikes get retired. I just also know that I might not be able to get another one for a while.”

At least if they could get her a car that would help some. She knew if she was stuck in the city she was going to go stir crazy. She’d do best if she could get on a bike, though. The wind in her face and the sound of the motor rumbling beneath her made her feel free.

“As for the rest of my stuff, is there a place I can stash a kayak?” She knew she might get no for an answer, but she might as well ask. “Climbing gear? Portable workout stuff? A couple electronics? That’s pretty much what I’ve got when it comes to stuff of value.”

Sadie was still keeping an eye on Ignacio, but Michelangelo was the one who had sat down next to her, and so she draped an arm around him in that familiar way and rested her head into the nook of his shoulder. “I can put some of it in here,” she said. “Maybe the boat,” she nodded at a mostly empty corner, “If someone else can help with the rest.”

Minnie nodded. “That just leaves figuring out how to talk to the rest of the family, right?” she asked, then looked at Michelangelo again. “Then the Princess?”

Had he made any progress on getting connected with someone?

“I don’t wanna procrastinate too long. I want out.”
