Sadie stood in the beauty supply store, browsing through a book with different hairstyles, one that normally would go to different salons. Her hair was down past her butt now, and more than halfway to the back of her knees…and it was…
Well it was a lot. And honestly, after scuffling with that stupid Dresda, she…didn’t really…want to have such a long, unruly mane any longer.
Or…that’s what she was halfway telling herself, but. She liked her hair. Sadie was proud of it. It was nearly a decade of growth and…well.
She looked damn good.
When she heard and half saw someone with hair to rival her own, she started and looked up, frowning slightly staring blatantly to try and figure out where she had seen this person before.
There was some sort of familiarity and she squinted. “...I…you look so familiar. And I can’t place it. But, you clearly have sense, and are pretty enough to ask advice from, so I hope you don’t mind if I pick your brain a little?”
Sadie held the book up. “I’m thinking of making a change, and I’m not really sure how drastic I want to go, you know?”

Virell tilted his head when she spoke to him. He was only coming in to grab a few quick things on his way home. He hadn’t expected to run into anyone he knew, not when this was just an in-and-out trip, but he also wasn’t particularly unused to people striking up unexpected conversations with him.
He was still dolled up from a shoot earlier, so he was still in impeccable condition despite Destiny City’s Summer efforts to thwart him.
“Oh, you’re flattering. Thank you, Sadie. Oh, I’m sorry if that’s weird. You just did a shoot for Twice Blue last month with one of my models, Sistine. Maybe I look familiar because you saw me on set.”
Or because his face had been plastered all around Destiny City at various points in time in the last few years. He didn’t mention that he’d been the model for Twice Blue’s spring campaign and used that to open the door for more opportunities for his agency. “I don’t think we got the chance to speak.” He held out a perfectly manicured hand. “It’s nice to meet you, officially. I’m Virell deVilliers. You and Sistine did a great job. Honestly, you’ve got such a pretty, well-shaped face. I think you could pull off just about any style.”
He looked towards the book. “Is there one in here that’s calling to you?”

Sadie blinked, but then grinned. “Ah! That’s why you look familiar.” She took his hand and gave it a shake. “Your agency is amazing, and it was absolutely an honor to work with Sistine! She is such a sweetheart.”
That was her favorite part of modeling. Meeting people. Gaining connections.
It wasn’t going to be her forever career…it was almost impossible to make it a forever career but. “Ah, yes. Back to me.” She pointed to a few styles. One that was filled with layers, going down to the mid back, and another that was almost whispy, with strands framing the face. “Like, I adore my hair, and seeing yours, I know that you understand but…the urge to just…get a buzz cut is so strong sometimes.”
Especially in the summer. Especially when she was getting stuck in other peoples hair and hers just added to the chaos.
“I don’t think I’d ever forgive myself if I did that though…that’s…too much. Honestly. Everything feels like it’s both too much and not enough.”

Virell laughed. Of course he liked the praise but he wasn’t here to steal the attention she needed. “Well, thank you. You know, we’re always looking to make new contracts. If you ever get tired of your current agency, give me a call. Are you really thinking about a buzz cut?”
He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and then shrugged. “Well, I suppose I should remind you that even if you were to cut off all your hair, you could always wear wigs. Some of the girls I work with do that. Less commitment, and more of a ‘be who you want to be’. “
Taking a step back, he tilted his head and took a few steps around her.
“Have you ever booked a session with a professional stylist? They can work miracles. And they talk all the hard work out of thinking about it. I like the layers, though. You could do a lot of different styling with that. You could get it cut to have this same feathery look,” he said, pointing to the two pictures she’d selected.
“I think, go for the longer cut, and get something that frames your face like the second one. And if you don’t like it, you can always go shorter. But that’s just my opinion. Your hair is so beautiful and thick. I’m not just blowing smoke when I say I think you could pull off just about any style.”

“Do you have a card?” It wasn’t that Sadie was looking...but she had never heard anything bad about Virell’s agency and honestly, that was a huge compliment. “I haven't, no. Honestly, I haven’t thought about cutting it but.”
She gave a slight grin. “There was…an incident between me and someone with even longer hair, if you can believe that. And we got a bit…tangled up, and it’s just been on my mind for a while.”
Not too long, but long enough. “I’ll look in to a professional session, honestly that could be best, but I agree with the feathery one…and thank you. I appreciate your words! If you want to give me that card,” Sadie’s grin grew wider. “I think I just might take you up on jumping ship. Depending on your contract terms and everything. I’m…well. I have been working towards my business degree to…you know. Do something else. But that’s going slow. I’ve only been doing a class a semester but…I should be set to graduate next semester…”
She had no idea what she wanted to do but. The options were nice to have.

“Oh, congratulations! That’s a good degree to have,” Virell said, fishing out a wallet and producing a card for her. He had the grace of someone who performed this action often and he smiled brightly when he held it out for her.
“We offer very competitive contracts. And I’m always looking out for my models. You’ll be in good hands with me, no one will treat you better. You’re welcome to stop by and see. You don’t have to trust me, but you’re welcome to talk to anyone in my company. Call me, we’ll schedule something.”
He’d worked with enough sleazy agencies to have low expectations from any of them. He wasn’t just assuming he was better–he knew it.
And he was going to drive them all out of business.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do with your hair!”
