Summertime patrols as a White Moon senshi felt so much stranger than patrols as a Dark Mirror senshi had, which honestly, Murikabushi didn’t understand worth a damn. When he’d gone out as a Dark Mirror senshi, he’d been interesting, some weird little novelty: a late-blooming Mirror senshi who would talk to pretty much anybody, actively inserted himself into conflicts, and steadfastly refused to do either of the jobs bequeathed to him as a Mirror senshi—on Hand A, draining energy from hapless civilians via Mirrorwraiths, and on Hand B, cultivating Mirrorspace as though it actually meant anything to crack open crystals and sprinkle out pretty lies like salad toppings. It made sense for him to attract strangeness if he was going to act like that, flouting the entire way that his original faction had done things.

As a White Moon senshi, though, Murikabushi was basically a dime-a-dozen, as far as he was concerned. Everybody who knew anything about the magical shenanigans going on in Destiny City had surely met a starry-eyed White Moon senshi who just wanted to help people, and explore their magical home-world, and help set people free to be their truest and most authentic selves. In light of that, Murikabushi wasn’t anything special, so it didn’t really make sense for him to feel any kind of weird while out and about as a White Moon senshi.

It was a relief, tonight, that he ventured out into one of the city parks—one of the ones that he recalled had community gardens available for people to tend—and only felt another White Moon aura, rather than seventeen different Chaos auras accompanied by some of the very tall and very technicolor aliens in the thistle-colored jumpsuits. True, White Moon auras could also bring weirdness, but the one giving Muri anything adjacent to grief lately was only a basic senshi, not an eternal or a capital-K Knight like the aura he felt. (Kaifeng could also bring weirdness, but again, his aura didn’t match the power-level of the one out here tonight, plus there wasn’t the feeling of another super-senshi-or-Squire aura nearby, and Muri would have expected that in the case of Kaifeng. He seemingly rarely went anywhere without either Helene, or a mission to help Kiyoshi with shooting “content” for Internet consumption.)

Fortunately, the Knight whom Muri found at the end of the aura was instantly recognizable, with their long white hair and the mermaid tail on their dress. Also, the good vibes generally tended to follow when one was around—“Pendour,” Muri called out to them, standing near the edge of the garden. “You doing alright tonight?”

There wasn't a rule, was there, that if you were out at night trying to look around and make sure that everyone was okay, that you couldn't stop by your patch in the community garden? Or, that when things were in season, you couldn't go up to your tomatoes and pick one or two to eat under the moonlight?

Pendour hoped not, because that was certainly what they were doing.

The elegant ballroom look of her outfit was somewhat mussed by the dirt stains on their knees where they'd been kneeling, and more noticeably on the pale parts of their skirt where it had ended up dragged through the soil. They'd come here a little bit on the spur of the moment, and they hadn't brought a knife, or any silverware at all, so they'd been biting into their Brandywine like it was an apple, and when they heard footsteps, and their name, and they realized that maybe that Order aura was right on top of them.

Then it was a scramble to wipe the mess of juice off of their chin with their elbows before they turned around.

It was a true smile on their face as they saw who was there, though. "Muri!" they called out, and then they were walking over, looking like they were about to go for the hug but then remembering the tomato juice on their hands.

"It's nice to find you out here," they said, meaning in the garden, which they waved to, "With, um, how we met and everything. Look!" Now the plants were strong and healthy. The green beans hadn't quite grown, but everything else was doing okay. The high summer crops were in season now, squash and tomatoes and peppers, with the corn filling out and promising to be ready in a few weeks.

"The Chaos didn't kill it, this time! And you're free from it, too, I see."

They looked him over, the smile softening but not leaving their face. "It suits you," they decided. "How are you doing? We haven't gotten to talk in a little while."
