Hi I have just been accepted into this guild and would like to thank you for adding me!

This is my fourth year in choir and I love it! Our next concert is Broadway Revue (very exciting, yes?)
But my schedule for next year isnt leaving time for choir anymore. I might be able to try to switch classes, but Im not sure if I can.
My question is: if I dont join choir and sing much next year, will I still have the ability to be in an honour's choir ( Bel Canto ) the year after?
I know it sounds silly (or maybe its just me) but it kind of freaks me out. Choir is like part of my life now and no choir in my schedule is really wierd...

It depends.. If you don't sing at all, it may be a little harder to get back into it, but I don't think that just by not being in choir you voice will be ruined. But if you were to, say, practice during the year every once in a while (Even just working on scales for a little bit) and everything, I think it would be fine. It may take a little adjusting to again, though.

But that's just my thought.

Over the summer, I sing every day, but my voice still sounds like crap when I enter choir again in the fall. If you go without choir for a whole year... it's unlikely you'll make honors choir. But if you take private lessons and do warm ups every day you might be okay.

No singing at all for a year will make it very difficult to get into an honors choir, but not impossible. Not because you're voice will be crappy, but just because you'll be out of shape for it, and out of practice. Taking private lessons would be a huge help in that, but if you just stay in practice, and stick with it, then you might still be fine. It all depends on you.
