Meissa had brushed up on her teleporting skills ever since that mishap with Ekstrom. From what she had gone back to reread in the information section, it had not been a good idea to try travelling with a companion in tow, but perhaps it had worked out for the better as now Ekstrom was in her debt. Tonight though, even as she popped into existence into the park where they were to meet, Meissa was a little bit restless. There was still the question about what it was that she wanted to seek as her form of payment for services rendered.

The only stipulation that she had given to the Mercurian Page was that no harm would befall her. Being someone from the Negaverse, that could have really left a lot of options on the table on what she could or couldn't do.

But what would benefit her the most? What could benefit the Negaverse? Could she still take some energy for the cause? That wouldn't harm Ekstrom unless it left her unable to fight if she had to do so after their meeting. Information was of course something else that would be useful. Perhaps a combination of the two. There were a lot of things that the corrupt senshi could ask for as payment while still acting within the promise she'd given.

But first ... Ekstrom needed to show up to the meeting for things to get started.

While the past three days had been eventful in their own right, the prospect of meeting with the corrupt senshi still hung in the very back of her mind like an over-heavy rain cloud getting ready to let loose a torrential downpour upon her. Not that she was concerned for her life or anything like that–Meissa had promised no harm, after all–but that still left a whole lot of other options. Sure, she seemed nice enough by the end, but the page simply didn’t think she could ever fully trust someone influenced by Chaos.

“So why did you agree?” she muttered just before yawning a great yawn as she made her way to the park where they had agreed to meet. It was rhetorical, of course. She knew why, and there was a small part of her that hated that part of her, but she was already here so the “why” didn’t really matter much anymore. She’d lost enough sleep over it, so now all that was left to do was pay her debt in full and get past it.

She could only hope that Meissa wouldn’t ask anything too unreasonable.

But if she did, could she refuse? Or would the corrupt senshi be open to compromise, maybe?

She rolled various scenarios around in her mind as she went, soon sensing her aura before spotting her in the distance. She waved first, hoping to get her attention so she didn't somehow sneak up on her, and then jogged the rest of the way, stopping once she was within conversing distance.

“Evening! Sorry if I'm late. I hope you didn't wait too long.”

What was she going to ask for in terms of payment? Given the promise she had made to the Mercury Page, it left a lot of options on the table but at the same time did it also limit what she could ask for?

Even as an order signature began to near her position Meissa took a deep breath before letting it out slowly. When Ekstrom appeared in the distance did the corrupt lean forward. Her eyes scanned the surrounding vista before she truly relaxed. Somewhere in the back of her mind she had secretly believed that Ekstrom wouldn't have come alone but given the fact that no other auras were present, well hopefully, it was all of the good. When the distance between them shortened enough that they could converse Meissa shook her head in response to Ekstrom's concern that she'd been waiting long.

"No, I only just arrived myself. It seems like it's a pretty quiet night so far. I can only hope it stays this way."

Giving Ekstrom a subtle glance Meissa pushed herself off of the table she had been sitting on, "just a reminder, what I plan to collect tonight for the debt owed, won't bring harm to you. But perhaps I'll start with something easy. A little bit of background information. Nothing too personal but I'm curious about some things ... and I would like to know," Meissa gestured to Ekstrom that she could sit if she wanted before she resumed her own seat. Q&A time ... and maybe the smallest test of trying to distract the Page with questions while she did something else.

"How long have you been involved with Order?"

Keeping the attention divided, Meissa gently tried to tease out the smallest amount of energy, just enough to see it before shooing it back towards whence it came.

The unease that she felt while being around someone of Chaos was…unsettling. It definitely woke her up. Days of exhaustion just gone, replaced by an anxious, gnawing sort of worry about what was to come now. The Corrupt Senshi was perfectly pleasant, and yet there was just…something.

Ekstrom did her best to be civil. Friendly, even. Meissa had done nothing to warrant an attitude of any kind, after all.

“It has been quiet,” she agreed. “Probably because the festival’s winding down. It’s kinda nice.” Meant more rest for her, at least on normal nights

The Page nodded along as Meissa went on to briefly remind her what this meeting was for, and she took a seat when it was offered. A Q&A…didn’t seem like too bad a trade considering she had saved her and all from those bugs. She didn’t know much beyond her personal experiences, so if Meissa was hunting for specific information about Knights or the Order side of things she doubted she’d be much help, but Ekstrom didn’t mind answering what she could.

Carefully,’ she had to remind herself.

She pulled on a thoughtful expression at the first question. While she tried to recall exactly when she had a brief thought about how tired she really must have been as exhaustion suddenly creeped over her. Maybe because she sat down and relaxed a little? She closed her eyes after a moment, willing herself to focus. That…somehow worked, and when she opened them she turned her attention back to Meissa.

“Almost a year now, if I remember right.” She didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on while Meissa talked to her. "At the very least I can confidently say that it was summer because I remember feeling hot as soon as I powered up."

The fact that Ekstrom seemingly had not noticed that her energy was being drained gave Meissa a small thrill. Just how much could she take if she kept the Page's attention off of the fact that she was subtly attempting to siphon energy? Nodding at the answer that had been provided to her in response to the query she'd asked Meissa had a follow-up question ready to go as once more she took the step to once more begin draining just a little bit of Ekstrom's energy. The smallest orb gathered into her palm before she dismissed it into wherever it went to when she was gathering before breaking the connection. That would have to be enough for now.

She wanted Ekstrom just a little bit weakened if she were to spring her demands of being an accomplice for the evening but it was best to simply take the shallowest amounts of energy in order to garner compliance. Given the fact it seemed that the Mercury Page had already been tired was a bonus but it was far too early in this meeting to put her demand into the open. Instead she asked her next question, "so, you've been doing this for a year. That's admirable. Do you believe that you, alone, are making a difference?"

Meissa's gaze turned towards the sky for a moment before she gave a wistful sigh. The next few minutes were going to be very interesting depending on how Ekstrom answered. Inwardly the idea of making a member of order an accomplice in harming civilians, or at least not being able to stop her from doing so, would have been something that Beatrix would approve of.

She felt exhaustion slowly begin to creep over her again, and she had to close her eyes and fight down a yawn. It was such a…strange…sensation, but it wasn’t entirely unfamiliar. The suddenness of it, maybe, but not the exhaustion itself. “Sorry,” she said once she was able to focus again, and she gently shook her head in an attempt to wake up a little bit more. “It’s been a long few days.”

She couldn’t fight down the yawn that followed, and when it passed she apologized again before answering the question. “I feel like I’m contributing something to really specific situations. Things like stopping youma from terrorizing civilians, or drawing an agent or senshi away from a civilian they were draining…that kind of thing. So ‘yes’ to the battles, but more ‘no’ to the war, if that makes sense?”

The Page shrugged at that, and then rolled her neck and winced as she felt little pops all along the way. She made a mental note to schedule an appointment with her chiropractor before continuing.

“A year feels like a drop in the ocean when I think about how much longer some of the others have been in this, and how much more they’ve probably done–and I’m talking on both sides–to get us to where we are today. Not enough time to do much for the big picture, y’know?”

"Hmm,"

It was a non-answer to the response that Ekstrom had given her about her standing in the war and for now it would really test the Page's promise to fulfil her debt that she owed. If she felt that her best personal actions had been saving civilians from being drained and chasing off youma, then tonight was really going to be a nightmare. "I guess that is all one can really do at times when they're just starting out."

There was a gleam in her eye as she turned away from Ekstrom.

"Okay. I don't think you'll like this given what you've just told me. But how I've decided that you are going to repay this debt between us, is to help me with gathering energy tonight," her fingers slowly pointed towards the Mercurian Page before continuing, "I'm going to either ask you to act as lookout or act as the lure to make this night go easier on me. I won't do anything else but drain energy but you are going to assist in the process."

She froze, both in mind and body, when Meissa told her how she would be repaying her debt. It was playing out exactly how she hoped it wouldn’t, and she turned over the request in her mind a number of times before her stomach lurched. It was the equivalent of being the lookout during any other crime, and it felt like she had her hands tied behind her back. There was a part of her that recognized that she could probably easily refuse, turn her back on this whole thing and count it as a soured relationship with someone who…frankly she probably shouldn’t have any kind of connection to, anyway.

The Page bit her lip, unsure how to answer as her pride of being trustworthy and her pride as a knight came to blows.

“I think I can stomach being a lookout," she eventually said, "but if you ask me to get more involved than that, then I don't think I'll be able to return that favor like this..." She cut her thoughts off there or else they might have been sitting for hours on end while she argued both cases to try to make the best possible decision. There was no “best” in this case, just the lesser of two evils. She understood that, and honestly she wasn’t even sure this was it, but there was a chance it would at least be faster.

As far as she was concerned, this would be the first and last time she would ever owe anyone of Chaos any kind of favor.

After clearing her throat while fighting down another lurch of her stomach, she added, “If that works for you, then lead the way. Just...please make it quick. If you don't, I might lose what little I had to eat for dinner before you finish.”

Meissa simply took Ekstrom's reply in stride before merely tilting her head to the side before she nodded. A look out was fine. The Page could chase off potential interruptions while she set out to meet her quota for energy gathering. She would keep her word not to pull any starseeds because well, if there was a chance to at least keep a member of Order close, then wouldn't it be worth the effort not to get on their bad side.

Simply draining a few individuals wouldn't even take long and Meissa knew a good direction to head out in. Her gaze took in Ekstrom's uncomfortable look before sighing, "Lookout is fine then. Station yourself somewhere visible and if anyone else from Order comes to investigate either stall them or make up a story that explains my presence in the area. I just need a few minutes here and there to do the task that's asked of all members of the Negaverse."

Jumping up to the nearest rooftop Meissa waited for Ekstrom to follow before they set out for the area of town that the Corrupt Super was fond of visiting. She'd make this easier on herself if she just attempted to drain the Page herself and that was still an option, but there would be consent needed as Meissa was not about to go back on the word she gave that she'd not harm the one in debt to her.
---

About an hour later Meissa stared at the orb of energy in her open palm before she had it vanish to where it remained when she wasn't handing it over to her superior. Her gaze took in Ekstrom's expression before her lips pursed together. Having a lookout had helped avert a few interactions that could have been less than pleasant and she was grateful to the Mercurian Page for keeping her word.

Meissa drifted nearer to the Page of Mercury before she held out her hand, "thank you for not attacking me when I made the suggestion of how you were going to repay me," if Ekstrom wanted to shake her hand she would find herself being energized as Meissa was willing to give back the energy she'd taken from the other earlier on the evening. It just wouldn't do to have some harm befall the Page.

"I think this is where we part ways Ekstrom. I consider that the debt you owe me has been 'paid in full'."

It felt awful to be complicit in her draining activities, but Ekstrom did as requested and diverted attention from Meissa’s activities so she could do what the Page imagined were considered her duties as a corrupted senshi in peace. Her stomach twisted with guilt and anxiety the whole time, though, and she wondered if she was at all convincing enough to those that she had to interact with throughout.

By the end, she looked paler than when they met earlier that evening.

“I owed you,” she said rather weakly, which she wasn’t at all surprised by given how she felt, “and I keep my promises.” She took the corrupted senshi’s hand just to be polite, and suddenly felt quite a bit better. Her stomach still ached something awful, but otherwise she felt…fine, at least.

“That said, I don’t think I’m gonna make a habit out of owing Chaos ever again. I don’t think I could stomach doing this again.” She let her hand go and gave a nod. “That’s settled, then. If we don’t run into each other again, take care of yourself.”

At that, Ekstrom raised her hand in a small wave of goodbye before turning to head home.

Meissa watched as the Page seemed to have perked up a little after she shook her hand, but she kept her expression neutral. Ekstrom had acted against what was normal for members of Order and Meissa had managed to gather her quota for the evening in relative peace and quiet.

As Ekstrom gave her a farewell Meissa raised her own hand in return before she sighed, "take care of yourself."

Hopefully she wouldn't have to find herself owing favors to anymore members of chaos because if Ekstrom looked this bad after simply acting as a lookout ... well ... Meissa shrugged before turning away from the retreating Page before she disappeared with a quiet pop. She'd get this energy safely stored away either by finding Beatrix or her superior.
