Quote: The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it. Hela spent a few days checking out the best places to see the sky again, remembering the amazing photos she'd gotten last year by using long exposure times for them. She wasn't sure if she could swing that this year after all the craziness with going to space and getting K.Oed by something in the forest trail with Asuka but she was gonna give it a good one-two shot. Powering up and hopping through the mirrors with all her camera gear, she popped out and walked the last few blocks towards this nice-looking hill where she'd seen some yoga classes held. It wasn't something she ever did, it didn't make much sense to her but then again a lot of the stuff that these people in the city did didn't make much sense to her. Hybris had been helping her figure it out between sharing the juiciest gossip she'd ever heard. Plopping her camera down on its tripod, she started setting up and adjusting all her settings to try and get some good shots to add to her portfolio. A few signatures nudged at the edge of her awareness but she was a bit busy with what she was doing. As long as they didn't mess with her camera too much she was up for whoever showed up to say hi.

It was uncommon for Hekate to power up outside the autumn months - her her witchy uniform didn’t quite fit with the other season. But the weather had been comfortably warm out and she supposed that if she just put her hood and overlay into her subspace pocket then nobody would think she looked out of place. Her wraith hovered slightly at her side, its presence more habit than necessity. She had no real intention of gathering energy this evening, but if it found an opportunity, she wouldn’t stop it. Otherwise, for the time being, it remained a quiet ghostly companion. Hekate wandered idly for a short while until an aura flickered at the edge of her senses, something distinctly familiar. It lacked the weight of a Negaverse Agent or the almost twisted presence of a feral youma. No, this was distinctly Dark Mirror, like her. Interest piqued, she adjusted her pace, hoping they wouldn’t vanish through a mirror before she could reach them. When they came into view, she lifted a hand in greeting and called out with a friendly, “Hello.”

It took a moment, the voice barely registering as she focused and finished setting things up. It took until she turned around to realize she hadn't been imagining a voice. "Oh, Hello." Waving back a bit awkwardly, she looked over the woman. Definitely more of a witch style outfit, something kind of flashy as she thought Hybris might say. "Here to look at the weird star stuff? Hope I'm not in the way or sumthin." Looking down at her phone, she made sure it was linked up to her camera as a remote shutter before stepping away from it and the tripod. "Just getting some photos, haven't seen ya before though." Then again, she didn't really go into mirror space much outside of this summery time between semesters. At this point she wasn't sure if it was a bad thing or not considering the last time she'd been there wasn't by choice exactly.

“Oh, no,” she replied, shaking her head to the contrary as she approached. “You’re not in the way, I promise,” Hekate stated, her interest piqued by the fancy-looking photography equipment. “I was just looking for a clear spot to view the stars. City lights make it difficult to see.” “Normally I don’t power up this time of year but mirrorwalking tends to be the fastest way to travel.” Saves on time and gas money, plus no distracted driving trying to look up to see if she was far enough away to see the meteor shower clearly. “My name is Hekate, I’m the senshi of Jinxes.” She reached a hand out in polite greeting. “I’ve been a part of the Court for almost ten years now but I’m only active around October for obvious reasons.”With a sweep of her hand, she gestured at her witch-like outfit then at the wraith that hovered near the shadows. “Once the Halloween decorations come out I tend to fit right in without a second thought.” Making gathering energy is easiest that time of year.

Taking a few more test photos, as they mentioned she wasn't in the way, she made a few more adjustments as they spoke about the city lights. "Yeah, it's real bad. I never dealt with this much light pollution back home, everythin' was always super clear aside from the clouds and weather." Looking up, she really wasn't used to the aura of artificial light that seemed to seep up into the night sky. It was always pitch black where her parents' farm was once she got far enough from it. Perking up, she smiled. "Yeah, it really is, no waitin' on the bus or getting stuck in the rain! It's been a lifesaver in winter. Ah and I'm Hela, senshi of Dolls." Responding with an energetic handshake, she nodded as Hekate mentioned also only being active part-time. "I think your outfit looks pretty nice for Halloween, I feel like I fit in a bit better then too, but usually classes and exams keep me busy outside of summer and winter. But oh gosh, you've been at it awhile. It's maybe been.. I unno like two years? I think? I almost hit Rem with my tripod when he popped up while I was out at night taking photos for class." Laughing as she scratched at the back of her head, she looked up and saw some signs of the meteor shower starting. "At least this weird thin that happens isn't harmful." Drawing attention to the few things streaking across the sky.

“It is a nice break in the pattern of disasters that continue to plague Destiny City.†Hekate sighed as she lowered herself onto the grass beside Hela. She wrapped her arms around her legs and leaned her head back to observe the meteor shower above them. For a rare moment, the silence outside didn’t feel so heavy. Instead, a clamness settled around her as her eyes followed the ribbons of colored lights streaking through the night sky like chalk pastels across a velor canvas. After a moment, she tilted her head toward Hela. “So,†she hesitated a moment before finally proceeding with her question. “Do you ever do anything with your photos?†Hekate’s voice was soft, tentative. “Like, are they part of a bigger project? Or is this just something for yourself?â€

Laughing at the mention of disasters, she wasn't sure if she'd go so far as to call them that bad, but then again, she'd had to handle a lot back home with the farm and the forests near their home. "It's not bad here ye, sumthin about the summer always feels nice though. A break from stuff but I keep truckin' just to keep my portfolio lookin interesting." Fiddling with some more settings and checking what had turned up so far with the test photos, she was pretty happy with them even if they weren't like the ones she'd taken the year before. It still felt nice to be able to capture something so beautiful in the city. She never had seen stuff like this back home, even if she did prefer the quiet back there a bit more most times. Looking back at Hekate, Hela smiled widely at the invitation to talk about her photos. "Aw yea, like I keep up a portfolio online, sort of a blog of all the weird stuff I see. I do some urban exploration too in some of those old abandoned places that seem extra run down. There's so much stuff here in the city yet some of it still falls through the cracks. I like going to those places and scopin em out. My friends Asuka and Irenaea like to go around the spooky stuff in fall to try and prove it's nothin too bad." Though she'd run into a bit of trouble a few times, neither time had actually done any of the trio any harm but also hadn't given any concrete answers besides weird city magic stuff.

“It’s good you have friends to visit places like that with, going on your own could be quite dangerous.” The names she mentioned weren’t familiar to her, but that came as no surprise. Though her tenure in the Court was longer than some of their Eternals, she was by no means active while powered and rarely participated in meetings. “If you have an online handle, I’d love to see what kinds of photos you’ve published,” she smiled, albeit warily, since she didn’t want to be perceived as being stalker-ish. “Only if you’re comfortable sharing, of course. I just think it’s fascinating to see how different people capture the same place.”“There’s always a little piece of the photographer in every frame.” Hekate laced her fingers together in front of her and tilted her head up towards the sky as another meteor streaked by overhead, as if mentally filing away the names she mentioned for later. “You mentioned abandoned places. Was there one that really stood out? Something that left an impression, good or bad?” Her voice softened at the end, the kind of gentle nudge meant to invite conversation without pressing too hard in case Hela was ready to leave.
