Would she ever learn?
So far, the answer seemed to be no, but it just felt wrong to abandon the chaos signatures when she sensed them. At the very least she had to take a look, just in case someone needed some kind of rescuing before she went back to the safety of her own home. With her pan and limited fighting capabilities it wasn’t too out of the realm of possibility to succeed in saving someone, and in fact she’d had a couple of successful situations scattered throughout the past year or so since she’d taken up her knight mantle. Recent encounters, of course, proved otherwise, but she was hoping that was just a rut that she’d eventually get out of.
Everyone had their off days, right?
Off seasons, even.
Ekstrom frowned at that thought. “Hopefully not seasons,” she murmured as she hurried toward the chaos energy signature she’d sensed just moments earlier. She came upon it in an alley in an unfamiliar part of the city, though familiarity was the least of her concerns as soon as she stepped into the alley.
How it happened she had no idea–to try and put in a more positive spin on it, she wanted to call it “focus” as opposed to the probably more accurate “tunnel vision”–but she noticed the second signature far too late.

Rolling a starseed in her palm, Beatrix walked away from the dumpster where she'd tossed the most recent drunkard. Chrys was also out tonight and had to look good for her eternal even if she was just the same rank now. Even if she had gotten a promotion she still wanted to do a good job in front of them. Feeling a knight nearby, she paused and narrowed her eyes before pulling out her communicator to contact Chrys. Daekie We have a page in the area, I feel a few other order peeps but not that close yanno. That sent, she moved in closer, smiling that crooked smile of hers. "Seems like you're lost. I wonder what flavor you are?" Running through the chart she had memorized from Chrys, she had a vague idea of what type they were but she wasn't sure since she hadn't seen one from Mercury before.

Chrysocolla pushed herself up from the bench she'd been sitting on for a minute, taking a moment to crack her knuckles and stretch her arms before she actually checked the message she'd just gotten. She was pretty sure what it was and who it was from; and if she responded instantly to Beatrix, that would start to give the girl bad habits. Beatrix could always stand to wait a little longer, just to add some subtle reinforcement to the idea Chrysocolla was still above her in some way; that had been an easy decision to make and to stick by.Sara Draconia I'll be there in a minute. For a moment, she thought about adding on a Physical harm OK. Don't go for the starseed yet., but the longer the message was the less of it would get read. Whatever Beatrix wanted to assume Chrys was taking a moment with was all her.its_ p a o she'll show up next round of posts, she just wants to make ekstrom sweat even more when she does

Ekstrom blinked, wondering if the owner of the second signature was who they messaged. Even if it wasn’t the case, she had a feeling whoever it was would end up coming closer anyway. A two-v-one situation was likely hard to pass up…
“Lost, no,” she started to answer, then scrunched her eyebrows together into a curious, questioning expression. “Not sure what you mean by flavor, though.”
Considering the way she was approaching, Ekstrom lifted her pan up and shifted into a slightly defensive stance. She wondered briefly if she'd done something bad to a corrupt senshi in her past life, with the way she seemed to coming across particularly fight-y ones in recent weeks. “Don’t suppose I’m the first person you’ve run into tonight…”
She took a step back, hoping to get closer to the only exit without the corrupt senshi noticing.

Hearing the notification come in, she had an idea what it might say but for now, she was focused as they took the smallest step back. Smiling a bit, she held the starseed up to shimmer in the light. "I wouldn't call that shitbag a person." Not especially after she'd seen them adding something to someone's drink at the bar. Poison dripped from her words as she took the slightest step closer, knowing exactly how close she needed to be to introduce them to her friend. "You're one of those things, a knight? They come in what... like 31 one flavors like the ice cream place, though I haven't gotten to try them all yet." Not for lack of trying, in the past at least. "Whoah whoah whoah no need to get swingin' with the kitchen wear yanno? You might upset my friend, they get real touchy when someone messes with me." With that an odd little smile crossed her face as the fog rolled out from her. It wasn't hard by now, to reach out for her friend from the other side. It was almost as easy as breathing to pull just the smallest bit of them through. Just enough to kill some time and keep the little knight here, maybe play with her a bit and see if she couldn't get another pal to switch sides just as Meissa had. its_ p a o Sailor Scout Attack: Beatrix's Grasp A dark fog radiates out from Beatrix, a shadowy figure appears in the fog. It will reach out to grab an enemy with an icy cold hand. The being is still mostly enveloped by the fog or shadows. The radius is 6 feet. For a few seconds there was the clicking of platforms on concrete, getting closer, and then there was nothing --
"Don't keep her to yourself," Chrysocolla said with a huff, manifesting herself safely behind the stupid little Mercury Page with a teleport, feet set just wide enough apart to keep her stance steady. She kept one hand to her chest, fingers loosely balled against the curve of her neckline; if this girl got any ideas, it'd be easy enough to pull on her own emotionally-affecting magic and get rid of those, but there was no need to cast it and then carry it around uselessly.
"She's right, though. ...Put down the pan. Who do you think you're trying to fool...?"

And then there were two–one in front, and one very suddenly behind her.
So much for getting closer to the exit.
Ekstrom weighed her options as her nerves began to kick in. Unfortunately for her, it didn’t take long for her to come to the conclusion that she didn’t actually have any. Great. “Actually, I think it’s a pot lid,” she said as she slowly lowered her weapon, her eyes on the hand coming out from the fog. The closer it got the paler she got, and before she knew it, it’d taken hold of one of her arms. She felt the cold of its grip even through the sleeve of her uniform; she didn’t want to imagine what it felt like for this thing to touch bare skin.
Now perfectly stuck and at the mercy of two corrupt senshi... There was really nothing quite like feeling like a sitting duck. This was the second time now, only weeks apart, and she was starting to think that maybe the universe might be trying to tell her something. She winced at the memory–the feeling of someone manhandling her starseed was ingrained into her mind and her body.
“I feel like I must have crossed the wrong corrupt senshi in my past life,” she started to say, hoping to buy some time while she tried to think of how in the hell she could possibly get out of this on her own, “with how badly you guys seem to wanna kill me…”

"WELL WELL WELL WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN"The voice came from the top of a nearby building. A silhouetted figure stood there, fists on their hips; one could make out the wings at the figure's hips, too. A few leaves and twigs drifted off the rooftop before vanishing in the alley below. Puck had been tracking the Chaos auras for several blocks, but when they converged on a single Order signature – a Page at that – he had to make his move. Leaping down from the rooftop, he grinned wickedly at the two corrupt Senshis threatening the Page. "Two against one, tch. That's hardly fair," he said, shaking his head. "I know you Negaverse lot play dirty, but this is low even for you." Figuring that his usual Wild Copse magic wouldn't work here, as the corrupt who'd cast the spell would still be able to get their arms through the trees and throw another spell, Puck quickly called out "Branch Bash!" A large ethereal tree branch, complete with glowing leaves, suddenly materialized in his hand. With a great amount of glee, he swung it at the spell-casting corrupt, hoping to at least knock her back and out of commission. He'd deal with the other corrupt Senshi in a bit. Quote: Enhancement: Senshi Magic: Branch BashThis attack creates an ethereal thick leafy tree branch about five feet long and three inches in diameter in Puck's hands as a manifestation of his magic, shimmering green with a golden glow. Puck calls out the attack name and the ethereal branch manifests in his grasp. He wields it like a cricket or baseball bat and swings it at an opponent, and if it connects it knocks them back about 12 feet. The opponent can dodge the swing. This attack can be used up to three times per battle; it must be used within 15 seconds of summoning or it will disappear. He cannot use it like a quarterstaff to block or fight.

Beatrix smiled widely as Chrysocolla showed up, they were always on top of things and she admired her Eternal. Scowling slightly. "Pots pans whatever... not like it's probably any good for cooking with."With a huff she stepped forward only slightly confused by the mention of a past like, it wasn't something she remembered reading about so it probably wasn't important. She really didn't like thinking about the past and really it was all about the here and now which was why she was so keen on getting in closer to touch their starseed. "Nuthin special bout ya, nuthin special bout any of ya order holier than thou shitheads. Only thing that's different is that I have a feeling all ya different flavors might taste different yanno." She went to reach for them, to sink her hand in when out of nowhere she heard a loud voice and looked up towards its source. She didn't get much time before a branch came swinging and she felt it connect with her side. It hurt like something but she took it in stride before very much forgetting about the page for a much more pressing target. "You know you're interrupting ya? That's pretty rude yanno... Men... always sticking their noses in business that ain't theirs." Glaring at them she stepped closer and went to swing at them, attempting a fakeout with her swing so she could knee them in the gut instead.

Oh. That was annoying.
More than annoying, actually; no matter how much she might've wanted to still prioritize the Page, shove a hand in her chest and steal her into Negaspace for Hessonite to recruit, if Chrysocolla did that she would've been leaving Beatrix to fight off an experienced Eternal on her own.
(Experienced, maybe, or maybe just very stupid and busy thinking he was a hero. But her first assumption was 'experienced'. He didn't look familiar? But there was some niggling recognition. Had she read his description in the Database...? Blonde dreads, leaves, British accent, medium height... that felt familiar. Not familiar enough for her to remember what his name was, or what anyone who'd ever run into him had written about him, but it hadn't been a recent entry.
So he was experienced, then. That was annoying.)
Beatrix was feisty enough to take the attack in stride, but... might not be able to get an upper hand.
Well, when she thought about like that, it was very simple, really. There was something very easy Chrysocolla could do about this.
She cast an aside glance at Beatrix's fight and then plunged her hand into the Page's chest, gripping the starseed, not even giving any particular expression of joy or anything but faint irritation. "Stop attacking my colleague," which felt awkward in her mouth but subordinate was giving away more information than she wanted to give, "or you're never going to see this girl again."
Then Chrysocolla smiled. "...We do play dirty. You're right. You don't like it?"

As happy as she was that someone was kind enough to try and help get her out of this mess, she didn’t even have enough time to react before the familiar feeling of her starseed being manhandled sent shockwaves of pain throughout her body. Ekstrom froze, nearly crumpling to the ground as she stifled a scream as best she could. It was maybe thanks to that familiarity that she didn’t completely lose her focus to the pain. Her mind flooded with memories of that first time, the helpless state she was in but the defiance she showed all the same.
There was a flash of a very different memory, then. The cold of her wonder, the warmth leaving her body, the pain, an unknown figure, an ax…
The present pain ebbed at the memory, made room for it in her mind until it fully took over. She went by a different name, but their spirit was one and the same. Determined to fulfill her duties as a knight, defiant in the face of adversity, and even death, which felt just as close now as it did back in her distant past.
A new warmth spilled out from her starseed, and she felt her weapon take a new form, no longer a pot lid handle in her hand but instead a shield now floating just in front of her arm, as though attached by some invisible clasp. Moving somehow refreshed the pain, but she reached for and grasped the edge of her weapon anyway. As soon as she did, Ekstrom felt renewed strength and a new power poured into her as she was briefly enveloped by a bright blue light. It was warm and comforting, familiar and most welcome.
Her Wonder, she thought with a faint smile, was trusting her to carry on.
When the light faded she noticed the shield had materialized on her arm, though the pain of having someone’s hand on her starseed was also quickly coming back. Before she could fully process it again, though, she tried to stomp on the senshi’s foot to encourage her to finally let go.
– [ ] – His evening had been more of the same, even after he sensed two chaos signatures close to each other. Must have been a pair working together, he thought, and while he left them to do whatever they did because he wasn’t so mad as to knowingly approach while outnumbered, he stayed just barely close enough that the signatures stayed within his periphery. It was the city, so there was plenty to monitor even while keeping an eye on the signatures, and he was just about to call it a night when he sensed an order signature approaching one of ******** me,” he muttered as he quickly changed trajectory and hurried over.
Ashur could almost see what was happening as the two chaos signatures converged on the one order signature–both of which, he realized, severely outranked the one–and he curled his lip and touched his ring, focusing to channel his aspect to go just that much faster.
There was only slight relief when he felt another order signature joined the little get-together, though when he came upon the scene all he could see was the back of an Eternal, and glimpses of the Page standing directly in front of them. It wasn’t hard to guess what was likely going to happen, if it hadn’t happened already, so he rushed straight at them and, once within reach, maneuvered his staff so it was pressing lightly at their throat.
The light that followed soon after, and the slightly stronger signature that resulted from it, pulled a chuckle out of him. “Thought I might be evening the playing field,” he started to say, “but it feels like the scale’s tipping in our favor now.”
He put a bit more pressure on his staff, then, and his voice took a slightly darker tone. “Let go, and there’s a better chance that this won’t get any worse.”
Aspect of Uranus: The clothes and hair of Uranus Knights are always being teased by a persistent, swirling breeze. When they move that wind is always at their backs, giving a boost to their running speed and jumping distance. Other Knights of the same rank would have a lot of trouble trying to outrun those of Uranus.
