Firework Flowers (13) : A rare and unique breed of flowers that blossom into long, stiff-stamened, spherical orbs like those of the blossoming Powder-Puff flowers are on full display in Destiny City. A unique hybrid of several species, these plants were being engineered at a small landscaping company. While they were only meant to exist in their private greenhouse as they continued development, a simple accident resulted in thousands of seeds spreading across Destiny City. Thankfully, the Firework Flower is a beautiful, albeit temporary addition. The stems grow rapidly and look like tall blades of grass until the week before the flower blooms; the bulb is hardy and opens overnight to reveal the beautiful firework flower, which can be found in almost any color. However, unlike normal Powder-Puff flowers, when these flowers are jostled they explode in a burst of colors. Whether it is a simple touch or a strong breeze, these ‘Firework Flowers’ seem to burn up from the center of the flower outwards. It creates a beautiful display of light–especially at night. Scientists describe it as a harmless chemical reaction and encourage everyone to appreciate the flowers while they are here. The dust from an explosion can carry on the wind and will glow for a few hours after the reaction. The explosion cannot harm anyone and poses no danger to anyone.
Partridge wasn't typically a fan of flowers, detested them really, but when he heard about these new flowers that spread around town that people said would explode at night in a shower of firework like bursts, complete with sound, he figured he would suck it up and go to see them, maybe they'd actually inspire him? He'd been dealing with a bit of art block lately anyway. So he waited until the flowers were ready to bloom, by keeping up with social media posts, dressed light, because even though he was going out into the early evening, right as the sun set, it was still friggin hot. As he walked through town, he saw some of the flowers around, as well as their more harmless relative, but still didn't really feel inspired. Sure the sun was setting, and the powder puff flowers were very nice looking (for flowers) the firework like flowers bulb just made the moment a bit...lame for a photo. He set at a cafe that was open until 10 for the festival week, ordering an herbal tea, since he didn't want to stay awake later than usual, he had work in the morning after all, and relaxed. It occurred to Partridge, sitting there and indulging in a drink he rarely bothered with unless he made it, that he hadn't been relaxed in what was likely a very long time, not since he was fifteen he figured. "Have I really let work consume me?" He asked himself quietly. He could admit at one time yes, he had, and maybe in his new, chaos filled life he still was, he had to admit plotting to sap the energy of the grade a a*****e art snobs that came to the gallery was pretty fun though, made it all feel less like work. Though, with his new second job, he really didn't have to worry as much about the usual things that trapped him in the work loop in the first place, but it still didn't solve the problem of his lack of creativity he felt lately though. Though, maybe the flowers he was beginning to see bloom would help. Oh wait, the flowers!? Partridge scrambled to get his sketchbook and pencil out of his bag as quickly as possible, as the flowers seemed to rise very quickly, concluding their awakening with loud "POP!"s, which startled the already rattled Partridge into nearly dropping his book, but he held fast, and got to sketching with his book on the table, pencil in hand and eye (and phone) on the flowers. quickly recording the flowers blooms and bursts, mesmerized by their truly firework like process. Sure he hated how loud they were, but could admire the flower bursts and how they shed their petals, which got caught up in the winds of the blasts from the other flowers. This was actually very beautiful to him, he eventually had to stop drawing to follow the bursts, only returning to his book and pencil when he was satisfied he had decent recordings of the event, to embelish or re create at home as he pleased.
