The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Asuka had really thought that the pretty rainbow fireflies were worth investigating. She'd read rumors about them online, and maybe, just maybe, there was something worth looking into there. Sure, it wasn't as spooky as her usual fare, but not everything had to be for YouTube, some things could totally be for her own personal enjoyment.
Of course, that implied that there was enjoyment to be had in what she was doing, and that felt like a stretch, at minimum. Because yeah, she'd gone out to one of the parks where they'd been reported. And yeah, she'd totally found some. Had even touched one and discovered that yes indeed, they absolutely did shock you when you touched them! All rumors confirmed, and Asuka wasn't even all that badly hurt, just startled.
The real problem had come when she tried to catch one. When she determined to chase one down, and maybe shove it in her subspace or something, or...okay, she didn't really have a plan because she had totally space don bringing any kind of jar to contain them in, because that had not, initially, been the plan.
And maybe it was for the best--because Asuka had been chasing the little bastards back and forth for what had to be at least an hour, and they always seemed to be just out of reach, vanishing when she got close enough to really grab and hold.
So, she looked like a total disaster, bent over and panting in her fancy ghost girl outfit, looking like what happened if the undead ran a marathon.
Ugh. Terrible idea, these fireflies. Maybe she would take a break for a little bit and then just....go home.

Lenka had read rumors of the fireflies, and had come prepared with a butterfly net…and wiffle ball bat…just in case. They were held in her hands, one in each and when she saw the other Dark Mirror Senshi bent over as though hurt, she dropped both things and hurried over to the other girl’s side. “Hey! You good? Did the bugs hurt you? I heard that they could like, shock a person, but…I wasn’t sure if it was real or not.”
She was rambling a little, concerned and now she wondered if this girl had been electrocuted...like Ash with his Pikachu…if that was the case…
Well. Then maybe the wiffle ball bat had been the best thing to bring. Play some firefly baseball while she had the chance. Maybe the bat would gain electric powers!
Oh, no. Oh, no no no, it was totally not okay that someone else was seeing her like this. Asuka wanted to wither into dust at the sound of another person's voice, but unfortunately the ground did not open up and swallow her, nor did she vanish in a puff of deadly over-cringe.
"No, no, they didn't hurt me seriously, just little shocks" she assured quickly, "I've just been chasing them around a bunch and that was a mistake." She straightened, and dusted herself off, and turned, and immediately wanted to cringe out of existence again.
An entire Dark Mirror Eternal. Someone that she would generally really want to impress. And she'd found Askua looking like a total and complete moron. Then again, maybe it wasn't too bad, because this Eternal was carrying a butterfly net and a wiffle bat, and that at least did look a little bit silly for going after bugs. Or maybe, considering that these were electric bugs that would shock you, that was a perfectly reasonable amount of preparation. Asuka didn't know.
"Really, I'm totally good! Just...overexerted myself a little, no big deal."

“Well good! I’m not sure how easy it’s gonna be to catch them, but…” Lenka moved back and picked up the bat and butterfly net, holding each out to the other Senshi. “Help yourself if you want something to make it easier. I’m Lenka, by the way! Senshi of Watermelons! It’s nice to meet you!”
She could see why the other Senshi had tired herself out. They were…alluring. And the fact that they refused to be caught…only made someone want to do it even more. It was…
Well, it was rude. “I bet we could try together…and if it doesn’t work, we’ll just say screw it and go into Mirrorspace and hunt for some crystals. At least those don’t run away from you.”
"Oh, I don't think they can be caught," Asuka sighed. "I've been trying, that's how I wore myself out. But they always seem to vanish right before I can really grab them." Still, she reached for the butterfly net, thoughtfully.
"Heading into Mirrorspace to look for crysdtals sounds great to me, though." Man, she needed to do more with her Realm. She knew that she'd be able to make something beautiful, if she just...tried. But it had never really been a big priority for her. Obviously, that needed to change.

“If you wanna go do that after this bug catching, I am absolutely game. I’d love to show you my Realm too! It’s not…very impressive, but I have a little waterfall…ish. Waterfallish. It’s…not impressive but I like it! And I want to make the place more impressive…like…”
She swung the bat at one of the fireflies and sighed when it vanished before she could it it.
“I want it to be as lush and woodsy as my Homeworld was…I can’t ever go back to Lenka…but I can make my own little Lenka sanctuary in my realm. That’s the goal, at least.”
Asuka swung the butterfly net a few times, but it was pretty halfhearted--she was pretty sure not even tools could help her catch these slippery little bugs, and as best as she could tell, she was totally right.
Ugh. Unfair.
"I'd love to come see your Realm," she said. "Mine is....barely anything. But I've got no idea what my world looks like, so I don't really have anything to model it off." Lenka must have been White Moon once--good for her on choosing the clearly superior side. "It must be nice, being able to recreate your world that way."
She took another swing with the net, and huffed.
"I don't think this is working, and I totally want to see your Realm in Mirrorspace." She offered the net back, more than a little amused. "So...show me? Please?"

“Then heck on it and let’s go!” Lenka gave a grin that lit up her face and nodded towards the wooded area where she knew a mirror lay…because…mirrors were always everywhere. It was just a known fact at this point.
Heck on the fireflies. They didn’t need them, they could look at cool…small…waterfalls. It was the perfect trade off. “Follow me and we’ll grab crystals first and then head to Chez de la Lenka!”
