The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
Today Kianna had been practicing basketball non-stop. Feeling that ball in her hand as she raced up and down the court. Her green hair flowed behind her as she ran. It felt amazing. It had been forever since it was just her and the basketball court. Thankfully with it being summer, she didn't have to worry about having to fight for space. Most families were out on vacation but not her family. Her parents were studying some important research, so here she was. She felt like she was all alone, but it actually felt liberating. She was free to do whatever she wanted and no one was going to stop her. She was in control. Something she hadn't felt lately was in control. Her life felt like it was spinning out of control. As she jumped she felt her hand touch the rim and the ball sank right into the net. She took a deep breath and smiled. While she was still alone, she was alone with herself.
She had to find a way to clear her head. Ever since she started getting clues about her biological parents. Her mind was just a mess - she felt so confused and lost. Kianna decided to take a break from basketball and think of something else to do. As she took a seat on the wooden bleachers, she quickly wiped her forehead, and packed away her ball into her backpack. Once she was all squared away she headed towards the gym door, and that was when she saw a rainbow looking sign hanging on the wall.
"Well that's weird," she said as she walked up closer and read the sign a little more. Normally people don't put things like this up during the summer, but the more she read it, the more excited she was that she had. The sign mentioned a meteor shower that was going to happen tonight. Kianna's heart skipped a beat as she realized that watching the meteor shower could be the perfect escape she needed. The beauty and wonder of the night sky, combined with the solitude and tranquility of the moment, could help her find clarity and peace amidst her confusion and feelings of being lost. She eagerly raced home to make sure she didn't miss this extraordinary opportunity.
Once she got to the door she quickly threw her back off to the side of the entry way and began to pack. She packed a blanket, some snacks, and headed to a nearby hill where she could have a clear view of the meteor shower. As she lay under the starry sky, watching the shooting stars and feeling the cool breeze, she found a sense of peace and clarity, allowing her thoughts to settle and find answers within the vastness of the universe.
As the meteor shower unfolded above her, Kianna was filled with awe and wonder. Each shooting star streaking across the night sky ignited a spark of hope within her. The gentle breeze whispered soothingly against her skin, as if nature itself was offering solace and reassurance. In that moment, Kianna felt connected to something greater than herself, and a renewed sense of purpose began to blossom within her. She found a sense of inner peace and contentment that she hadn't experienced in a long time. She felt a deep sense of gratitude for the beauty of nature, and for the reminder of the connectedness of all things. She knew that no matter how dark the night, the stars would always be a reminder of hope.
