The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
Kemi had sent Alcor a message, wanting to get into things and have a quick spar, especially with the sky looking the way it did. It was beautiful. Magical even, and there was nothing more that Kemi wanted to do but spend the time with her friend and practicing.
She wanted to get stronger again, and had been working towards it, but things were slow going, and honestly? That was okay.
When her friend’s aura came into her sensing range, she turned and waved, excited. “Alcor! Look at the sky! It is stunning! I thought we could try our magic on one another…I have been enjoying doing that, and I think…with how warm the Earth is right now…some cold would do me good!”
It wasn’t a lie…it was hot here…and as much as she appreciated it…
She didn’t enjoy sweating.

Glancing up, she watched as space debris shot across the sky in a myriad of colors. Mostly streaks of white or yellow, but if she could manage not to blink, Alcor could catch a few bluish-cyan and pinks among them as well.
“It is beautiful,” Alcor agreed as she approached Kemi with a smile. “I missed out on seeing them last year, so I’m glad I got a chance to see them this time.” Since she wasn’t big on space anomalies, chances are she wouldn’t have remembered if Kemi hadn’t reached out to her.
“I admit I can get overheated really easily especially after I get off work.” Normally she layered up enough that when she stepped out of the building and shed a few layers she’d be fine. But the temperature change between the ice rink and outside was just too drastic that some weeks it felt like she was giving her body whiplash with the frequent sudden shifts. “But I would advise against me using my magic on you. My magic can actually hurt you if I’m not careful.”
Alcor withdrew a luke-warm bottle of water from her subspace pocket. “Touch of cold,” she spoke the words of her basic attack causing her hands to glow a soft powder blue. While the plastic remained unchanged, the water inside rapidly grew cold as ice crystals began to form throughout it.
The other hand was held out to Kemi, but the look she gave cautioned the woman not to actually touch her.
Sailor Scout Attack: Touch of Cold After calling out her attack, Sailor Alcor hands get very cold and take on a bluish tint which lasts for 15 seconds. In order for this attack to be effective Sailor Alcor must make physical contact with the opponent or object. Once contact is made the area begins to get cold at a rapid rate and frostbite will spread no more than 5" from where her hand is so long as she can maintain contact for 5 seconds. Effects against an opponent the person will have trouble moving rendering the affected area useless and will experience a significant amount of pain/ discomfort. Otherwise, if she is holding onto an object it might make it more brittle or more firm. The frostbite duration lasts for 20 seconds after contact is broken for the person to 'thaw' time may take longer depending on the weather. This attack can be summoned 3 times.

“I’m very glad you were able to come and see it this year too. I obviously wasn’t around last year but…”
Kemi broke off, watching with interest as Alcor used her magic, and even more interest when the water froze in the bottle that she held. And, while she knew the look she was being given was a warning…she was too warm to really care…and thus, turned slightly, resting her fluffy tail against the hand, watching eagerly.
The fur on her tail began to freeze over and she gave a laugh, eyes beginning to sparkle. It felt nice, and even though she couldn’t really feel the icy fur, it felt so much cooler than it had a moment ago.
“You would be great in a heat wave. How refreshing!” Stepping away, Kemi looked back to Alcor, her smile growing a bit more mischievous. “Deceit!” As she blew the magic towards her friend, she was eager to see what Alcor thought.

Saying the name of her attack, Kemi blows outward and a fine mist extends as she does so. The mist can travel up to ten feet away from her and the magic can affect up to two people at this stage. The effects last for twenty seconds and can be used three times. When the mist touches a target, they are enveloped in a deceitful illusion where they feel as though they've been thrust into a moment in the future where they are suddenly in a situation where they are getting something they've always wanted. They will be completely immersed in the illusion, but if they are attacked they will snap out of it. Coming back to the present can be disorienting and leave targets with a sense of loss or failure, like their greatest desire was stolen from them.

Alcor heard the name of the attack but was helpless to convince herself that what she saw next was anything but a lie.
Before her, rows of white benches were aligned on either side of them, a ribbon connecting the isle seats with arching fabric tethered to the armrest by a cluster of beautifully arranged flowers. The seats were filled with the familiar faces of family and friends while some were of people she did not recognize, but all seemed happy enough to be there.
In the front row were her parents, and beside them were her aunt, uncle, and one of her cousins. Breana, however, was standing at the front with two others, all wearing identical dresses with three men dressed in suits on the other side.
Unsure of what she was seeing, Alcor looked down and in place of her uniform, with the oversized fur-trimmed coat, was a beautiful white gown, and standing at the end of the aisle stood a man and as he turned around so she could see his face, the illusion disappeared.
Just as the curiosity was beginning to bloom into wondrous hopeful happiness, despair closed in around the edges as the life she thought she should have had was replaced by the reality of where she was now. Despite the warmth of summer, she felt a cold air settle around her
Alcor drew in a slow breath, a practiced skill to resolidify the walls around her into something impenetrable. To steel away the hurt and sorrow she felt. “I-” she hesitated, swallowing the lump that had grown in her throat that robbed her of her voice. “I would suggest explaining to friends what your magic does before using it on them.”
She was not prepared for these feelings, to think about the life she should have had if she had never awakened as a senshi.

Kemi hesitated and moved a few steps towards Alcor and her expression kept flitting between sorrow, fear and a bitter unhappiness. “I…I am the Senshi of Deception…” Her words were soft, and she couldn't quite find the air to project her voice with.
She should have said something, it was true and now all that she could feel was a suffocating mass of guilt that weighed heavily on her chest. “I’m…so sorry I…didn’t mean to upset you, I truly didn’t…”
Whatever joy, whatever excitement Kemi had been feeling was…squashed by this and she took a step away, swallowing hard and biting down on her lip. “...I’ll start warning people…”

Alcor’s gaze softened as she watched Kemi withdraw, curling inward both physically and emotionally. She closed her eyes briefly, inhaling deeply before releasing a slow, measured breath. When she felt the tension in her shoulders ease, Alcor opened her eyes and met Kemi’s gaze with careful intent. “I’m not upset,” she assured gently.
“Had I’d known your sphere, I might have been better prepared. But I understand why you wouldn’t want to share it. Magic doesn’t always reflect a person’s nature; sometimes the kindest souls carry the most unsettling abilities.” Though she didn’t advise Kemi to share what her sphere was to just anyone, at least telling a friend would be a wise gesture.
“What I saw was… it was a beautiful moment,” she admitted albeit solemnly. “It would be nice to believe that i got a glimpse of me in another world that got her a happy ending.” Though difficult, Alcor attempted to smile but it barely reached her eyes. “Perhaps if I’d run away from the monster, and away from the mauvian, then that scene would have been my present and future.”
Even now, her heart her heart clung to a hope she knew was impossible. A faint, wavering flame of hope for something forever distant and forever out of reach.

“You can still…get your happy ending. Being a Senshi is not…the end of your happiness. It shouldn’t be…” Kemi still felt awful and she couldn’t quite…well. Couldn’t meet Alcor’s gaze at all, but she let out a breath. “...I hate my sphere. I hate who I was. Who I. Still am it seems. I should go…I’ll…I’ll talk to you again soon…but right now…”
Right now she just wanted and needed to be alone. It would be best for all of them involved…but her especially.
“...I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…”
They could talk about this another time…and she hoped that they would but. Now?
