The corrupt senshi had gone out, presumably to patrol, but really, she wanted to find one of the order folk and beat the ever loving hell out of them. Sure, she could have spent the time taking it easy, draining some energy, making swiping a starseed or two. But no. She wanted a fight.
She needed the fight.
Striding through the dark and shadowed streets of the city, Pan ignored the few normal humans she saw. And they mostly ignored her too, which was appreciated. Though she was starting to wonder if she wouldn’t need one of those terribly ordinary people to use as bait to draw out any lurking knights or senshi. She’d table the idea for now . If, after a bit more time, she still couldn’t find a vent for her ire, then she’d consider the bait idea.
“I know you’re out here somewhere, you ********,” she growled under her breath. “And I will find you.”

Ekstrom was meandering.
If someone asked her, she’d much rather be at her wonder, doing some more exploring or studying or literally chilling–summer this year was starting to really suck–but it was a little too soon, so she took to patrolling instead.
It was such a vague activity, but one she did think was necessary just in case someone needed some help with a youma-gone-mad or none-too-kind chaos folk, so here she was. Trying to do her part of this particular aspect of the job. There was a part of her that wanted to touch base with someone who maybe had a better idea of what ought to be done while on patrols, or at least could give her a better idea of how often she needed to be doing it so she wasn’t possibly just wasting her time and effort.
Funny, it took a year for her to think of asking someone.
She was turning that thought over in her mind when she felt a chaos aura on the edge of her senses. If she could sense malice through aura alone, she likely wouldn’t have approached, but she couldn’t, so still feeling obliged to do her duty–or at least, her perceived duty–she headed straight toward it, pan at the ready.

Ahhh. Pan sighed and smiled. There it was. The aura was just at the edge of where she could sense it. But it seemed to be coming closer. Well, good. It was save the corrupt the effort of tracking it down. And given it was coming to her, it was, doubtless, some idiot bent of doing good.
Whatever, the end result would be the same. She was drawing blood one way or another tonight. All she had to do was wait.

The path to the aura took her further into the city, so she took to the rooftops to avoid having too many eyes on her. At least from up here there was no real foot traffic. The occasional cat or bird, maybe, but not usually people. She wondered in passing why it suddenly stopped moving. Maybe whoever it was found a target?
Concern hastened her footsteps, and soon she was right on top of whoever the aura belonged to, and without so much as peeking first–so much for lesson learned–she jumped down the alley below, landing right in front of a senshi.
She made a questioning sound as she glanced around upon landing, noticing only then that there was no one to rescue.
“Great,” she muttered as she finally turned her eyes to the senshi, her grip on her weapon tightening some. There was something about the situation that put her on edge, though of course that was entirely her own fault.

Pan remained still, only the drumming of her fingers against her upper arms attested to the fact that she was alive and not some bizarre and new form of performance art. She was less than impressed with the knight who had managed to land right in front of her. Granted, the little questioning noise was cute in the same vein that a derp kitten was cute. But cuteness was just a facade. And an oftimes annoying one at that.
What mattered to Pan was whether or not this knight was going to be entertaining. Would she actually have some fight in her or was she going to wilt like a lily in the face of danger? Would be be the fox or the rabbit?
Personally, Pan was betting on rabbit. The little muttered ‘Great’ sort of cemented it.
Finally, the corrupt senshi moved. Circling slowly and fluidly, Pan kept her face and voice carefully neutral, though inside? Inside she was screaming in pure glee.
“Looking for something, little knight? Or someone?”

The tension that flooded her body the instant the senshi began to move wasn’t unfamiliar, however it wasn’t any less uncomfortable, and it put her on the defensive. She followed her movements as best she could with the limited light, and adjusted her stance to a defensive one. She wasn't going to start a fight if she could help it, but she wouldn't just lay down and take blows either if it came down to that.
“A civilian victim,” she said, the slightest tremble in her voice perhaps giving away her nerves. “Suppose I should be glad to find none, but..."

"You're thinkin' too small and too tropey, honey-child," Pan drawled, her accent coming out thicker. "Not everyone is out to make a victim out of these dopes."
Coming to a halt barely a foot in front of the knight, Pan smiled, though the expression had a nasty, predatory edge to it. She'd already take note of the wall behind the girl and had decided to use it to advantage. Bulling forward, she aimed to drive her fist into the girl's soft middle and shove her back against the wall.
She was tired of talking. She wanted that fight now, please and thank you. She only hoped this little bunny was some spunk to her or this was going to be boring.

”Not the first time I’ve been wrong,” she said, and was about to say more when the senshi stopped right in front of her. She widened her eyes and reflexively took a step back, poising to put her hands up in defense when she slammed against a wall.
“Sh–”
The fist to her stomach knocked the wind out of her. She curled over, and for a moment her mind went blank, but previous experience allowed a quick enough recovery. Through gritted teeth, the page attempted to wrap her arm around the other’s, hoping to hold her in place while she aimed her pan right at her middle as well.

"And yet you persist," Pan purred as she the girl tried to hold her in place. "It would be admirable if it wasn't so ********' sad!"
Hissing and wheezing as she felt something slam into her own gut, Pan let go and staggered back a step, staring at the girl and her weapon with hatred.
"A frying pan? You hit me with a god-damned FRYING PAN?"
How had she even hidden that thing in her uniform? And why a frying pan of all things? Whatever, she thought. It didn't actually matter. Surging forward, she became a punching, kicking whirlwind, not caring about precision. All she wanted was to have enough blows hit to slow down and hurt the knight. An idea was forming in the corrupt's head and she just needed this annoying little girl taken down a few notches.

how do you feel about pan reaching in to ekstrom's chest? not to steal, but purely to terrify.
Posted: Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:08 pm
She couldn’t help the smirk. Cliche, maybe, but managing a successful hit with her frying pan felt oddly satisfying just then.
“Yes. Yes, I did,” came her response as she positioned herself with her pan at the ready once more. When the flurry of kicks and punches came she did her best to keep up. She blocked as much as she could while also punching, kicking, or swinging her pan when the opening felt right. She’d have plenty of bruises from this fight, she thought, though her main concern was getting away in one piece.
She had to win. Given the energy coming into the fight, she had a feeling her life depended on it.

Bruised all over and bleeding from a few lucky strikes, Pan grinned in exhilaration. Now this had been what she’d needed. Sure, she’d hurt later. Hell, she hurt now. But it was something she needed deep in her tattered and darkened soul. But that didn’t mean she was going to just turn around and skip merrily off. No, this little knight still needed to be taught a lesson. She’d just have to feel lucky and grateful that Pan appreciated her spunk enough to not tear her throat out…
Pulling out of the snarl of limbs for a moment to catch her breath, the corrupt senshi casually wiped away a trickle of blood running down her lip, leaving a red smear over her mouth. Slowly, she rolled her head and felt her neck and shoulders crack and pop. Better. That was better. She flashed the knight a beatific smile all out of keeping with her disheveled appearance.
And then she attacked, lunging in a whirl of fists and fury. She wanted the knight down and on her back for this. Letting momentum carry them both, she kept on top of the knight, one hand curled around the girl’s throat. Beatific smile shifted into a crazed grin as she eyes blazed with glee. Leaning down until her face was mere inches from the other girl’s, Pan brought her free hand up and laid it on the knight’s chest. Just above her heart.
“Now,” she hissed, voice full of sweetened venom, “I ‘ppreciate the fight, truly. But I need you to know just how weak y’actually are, sugar…”
Fingertips grazing the girl’s chest, Pan concentrated. And then, her hand slipped into the knight and those grazing, questing fingers brushed against the girl’s starseed. Grin deepening, Pan watched the knight’s face. She wanted to savor every moment of this.
“Feel that, honey?” she purred as her fingers curled around the little soul gem and squeezed. “I can take this pretty little thing right out of you if I wanted and you can’t stop me. I could show you your own soul and it would be the last thing you ever saw. Unless I decided to eat it in front of you and isn’t that a fascinating idea?”
Laughing, Pan squeezed even harder, wanting to hurt this little girl. Granted, the temptation to rip the starseed and do all she’d threatened was nearly overwhelming. But Pan held hard to restraint. The threat of what she could do and the fear would be far more gratifying in the long run. At this moment, the cruelty was the point of this little exercise.
Pan would make sure that she’d be living rent free in this girl’s head for a long damn time.

Ekstrom was mid-swing when the corrupt suddenly pulled away, and while grateful for the break she couldn’t help but worry about what this chance to regroup would lead to. Breathing heavily, the page pulled her focus to the corrupt now standing several feet away, grip on her pan’s handle still strong. What she saw sent a shiver down her spine, and most definitely not the good kind.
Between the smear of blood across her face, the way she rolled her head, and that smile…
She took a step back, a subconscious motion to put more physical distance between them, and chanced a glance back at the exit one more time…
But taking her eyes off of the corrupt, even for a second, was an absolute mistake. Before she knew it, the corrupt had rammed into her, fists and fury flying in a frenzy that she couldn’t defend against because she hadn’t seen it coming. The momentum sent them down, and she slammed her back hard on the ground, knocking the wind right out of her.
And worse: she lost her grip on her weapon. She heard it clang a couple times to her left, though she couldn’t turn her head to look.
With the weight of another person on top of her, and a hand around her throat, the page was finding just breathing to be challenging in that moment. Her heart thundered in her chest, and her mind was racing with possibilities of what was to come. She could feel the hand on her chest as fear slowly began to grip her, but she refused to look away.
Stubborn pride in the face of possible death. But those memories flashed in her mind, and she realized that who she was now wasn’t too far off from who she was then.
“I’m not–” she had started to say, allowing a bit of that pride to show beyond just through her eyes, but the sudden, excruciating pain that surged through her body the second the hand slipped into her chest cut her off. Her eyebrows scrunched together, her jaw went tight, and her breathing became shaky as she shoved the urge to scream in agony back down her throat. She wasn’t registering what was being said at that point, all of her focus on the pain and fighting against it as best she could. It wasn’t long before tears welled in her eyes and she had to bite her lower lip, hard enough to draw blood though she didn’t notice, to keep from making a sound. Yet still, she kept her eyes on the corrupt’s.
If this was it, if this corrupt was going to make good on her threats and she was about to die, then the very least she could do for whoever came after her–assuming there'd be another–was leave a lasting impression that she wasn't the sort to back down.
Not then, not now, and hopefully not ever.

He’d sensed the two, clashing signatures from a distance some minutes ago, but was tempted to simply pass them by. It’d been a while since he’d last powered up and he was hoping for a peaceful end to this first patrol in…probably far too long.
Definitely far too long.
Ashur looked in their direction, though, and after a moment of serious consideration he focused to channel his aspect. Once it activated he sprinted in their direction. No sense in having something on his conscience as soon as he started thinking about going back to his knightly duties.
The scene he came upon required absolutely no thinking on his part. With the wind on his back, he rushed the corrupt senshi, holding his staff horizontally and dipping low enough in an attempt to sort of scoop her up and off of the other knight and slam her against the opposite wall. Composed as he might have looked, there was a raging fury swirling in his eyes.
Aspect of Uranus: The clothes and hair of Uranus Knights are always being teased by a persistent, swirling breeze. When they move that wind is always at their backs, giving a boost to their running speed and jumping distance. Other Knights of the same rank would have a lot of trouble trying to outrun those of Uranus.

”Stubborn little bunny, ain’t’cha,” Pan murmured. “But stubborn doesn’t mean strong. It just means stupid. Clinging to your itty bitty wittle life like it matters to anyone.”
Laughing delightedly, she gave the starseed another squeeze, this time pulling on it ever so slightly. Just enough for the knight to feel and wonder if this was it. The girl’s tear streaked face, her torn and bloodied lip and refusal to scream all delighted the corrupt senshi. She was more than content to spend the rest of the night here tormenting the girl. Withdrawing her hand for a moment, she tenderly wiped the tears from one eye, then the other. It wasn’t as fun if the knight was too tear blinded to really see anything, after all.
“Oh sugar,” she cooed, preparing to slide her hand back into the knight’s chest. “We are gonna have so much fun tonight. I’ll have you eatin’ outta my hand by the time I’m through with you…”
Really, the idea of having a broken and tamed knight as a pet was just thrilling. And with enough time, she was certain that she could have accomplished just that. Only… Only what happened next happened far too fast for Pan to really take it in and process.
She’d felt the stronger Order aura fast approaching, but was too deep in her torments to consider it and realize that it was a threat. And once she did, her head came up like a bloodhound sniffing the breeze, her hand half in the girl’s chest. When the blow came, the new knight was just suddenly there and Pan felt the staff strike, lifting her away from her victim and throwing her into a wall.
Head hitting brick, she felt the air in her lungs forced out and slid to the ground dazed and gasping. The edges of her vision darkened as she clung to consciousness. Oh no. She wasn’t going to lose this. She wasn’t going to lose her pretty little toy.
Twitching and gasping on the ground, Pan managed to stretch out an arm towards both knight, malice practically rolling off of her as she fought to stand.

Every fiber of her being wanted to scream out in agony as the corrupt continued to manipulate the starseed in her chest, but she bit her lip just that much harder, desperate to not give in to the urge, to not let her have the satisfaction of a broken spirit as well. Her whole body was shaking, though, and she was about at the end of the rope of her consciousness when she was suddenly given reprieve from the torture.
Not that she could relax at all.
The tender gesture of having her tears wiped away was in such stark contrast to what was actually happening. It surprised her, actually, but it meant that she was able to fully process what was being said to her now that her senses weren’t completely taken over by the pain of having someone messing around with her starseed.
“That’d be a waste of time and effort,” she barely managed to croak out, tasting her own blood as she spoke. She was cut off again by the corrupt’s hand disappearing into her chest, and she braced herself for the pain to come again…
Only it never did.
She heard a thud in the distance, and glancing up saw an unfamiliar knight. She had just enough strength to say a quiet, "Thank you," before everything went black.

Eyebrows knit together as he watched the corrupt senshi struggle and still reach for them while on the ground. The tenacity of Chaos still surprised him this many years into being involved with this war, granted he’d taken a nice, long, much needed break in favor of some peace of mind. Nothing really changed, apparently.
“I hope you don’t take this too personally,” he said as he considered his options, “I just can’t sit back and watch Chaos take another one of ours.”
It didn’t sit well with him to leave anyone out here knocked out and completely defenseless, no matter which side of the fence they were on, so with a sigh he turned his attention to the Mercury page. Unsurprisingly, she had blacked out, so that narrowed his options of escape to only one. There was an easy way to get them well out of reach of anyone on Earth, so after picking her up he got them to relatively safety first–out of the alley and onto a nearby rooftop–before focusing and reciting those words.
Hopefully Alya wouldn’t mind him bringing a guest for his first visit back to their wonder after all this time…

Wheezing and gasping, Pan clawed feebly at the two knights, finally managing to push herself halfway up before sinking back as the pair disappeared into the night.
s**t. Shitshitshitshit.
"s**t!" she roared hoarsely. Flopping over onto her back, the corrupt stared up at the dark sky and thought murderous thoughts. She couldn't feel any auras nearby and she knew that the more powerful knight would have gotten the other out and away as quickly as possible before she could rally enough to give chase.
She was going to have to accept that her little rabbit had slipped the snare. She'd gotten cocky and careless and now she was without a plaything.
She would do better next time. Because she knew enough about this weird goddamn city to be certain of a next time. She would be patient.
And once breathing didn't feel like trying to jog backwards uphill, she'd leave herself and head home. There was no point in remaining out tonight.
A few minutes later, the streets were empty of powered life.
