Quote:
The Caves (5) : To any explorers visiting the new Reservoir, they may find that just a bit away from the sandy water are a set of caves. Some of these connect back to the lake, but others rapidly plunge into darkness. It wouldn't be hard to get lost in here, but thankfully there are some very odd lights to help guide you out. If you turn off your light down some of these dark paths, you may find yourself surrounded by glowing pastel lights. A closer inspection reveals that you seem to be looking at some sort of glowing caterpillars. An internet search will reveal that Destiny City scientists have been researching the strange, unnamed creatures, but the articles are very limited. If you take them out of the cave they seem to shrivel up almost immediately. They’re neat, but clearly meant to be stay in their natural habitat.

Desiree was out tonight, wandering around looking for something to bring home to her musician and his fiancé. They'd gotten hurt up in space after having been slammed into a marble wall apparently. She'd found out how hurt they were the hard way when she'd gone to curl up on their stomach as usual in the middle of the night and was jolted off him when they cried out in pain.

It was harsh and she felt bad about it so off she was exploring something she'd heard rumors about. Some sort of glowing creatures that lived over near the reservoir. It took a little longer than she would have liked to wander that way but she'd had some trouble navigating a newer area that she didn't have all the ins and outs of figured.

Everything else seemed peaceful at least, more so than she figured after what she'd heard from both of the humans that she watched over at home. They spoke of lanterns that glowed, things that might happen around, and during Star Fest that would be a bit troublesome much as things had been during winter. To be honest, she'd had fun roaming around as a civilian in winter even if she had bumped into a knight. Though tonight she felt a lack of Order auras near her as she entered the cave to look at the glowing creatures.

There were times when Illyria's need to search for new geocaches led her away from the more familiar locations of Destiny City. The small Mauvian had never really made it out to the reservoir before but she knew of the area. Odd things seemed to happen in the water and the lanterns apparently used specimens collected from the caves. Illyria though wasn't focused on the water or the actual glowing creatures that night. No, Illyria's gaze was idly watching her surroundings before she made an adjustment to her direction of travel before she stopped. Making sure that no one was around to witness it Illyria summoned an item from her subspace before powering it up once more. The cache's coordinates had been logged into the device before she had left Orah's. Now it was a matter of trying to find the best path forward even as she placed one paw onto the device to light up the screen to study it a little further.

"Okay, clues: I have to go into the main cavern entrance. Once inside there should be a path that is marked to follow. Hopefully the marker is still present. But I have a feeling it'll be okay."

After that marker was found Illyria would be on the correct path to follow the cave further in. Buried treasure, without actually burying it ... but instead placing it deep inside the cavern system. What could go wrong? Her whiskers twitched as a phantom energy aura briefly registered before dissipating. "Hmm. Nope. Not fighting tonight. I just want to find treasure."

Desiree heard something, almost like a soft echo of a voice from where she stood in the caves. Ears twitched as she tried to figure out which direction the voice had come from. She heard the mention of treasure and blinked as she sunk lower to the ground, pulling her tail in to cover her white tummy so she blended into the shadows a bit more.

From her hunkered down position, she watched as another cat or well... mauvian seemed to be wandering into the caverns. They felt different but it sounded like they were here for something else. Was the treasure they mentioned the glowing bugs? Or was there something else here that might be better for her to bring home to Aloysius and Liam.

Prowling along the edge of the cave wall with the speed of a glacier, Desiree tried to stay as quiet as she could

Was that the sound of rocks being scuffed along the cavern floor? Illyria frowned even as her own paws carried her further into the darkened interior. The idea was to simply find the cache's location and sign the log before leaving. Time however was on her side as the night was still fairly young even if the sun had set before she had arrived. Her keen gaze picked up on a crudely made bunch of sticks that had been adhered to the wall. The Mauvian padded closer to examine the handiwork of the human that had constructed it before emitting a soft trill. Definitely crude in formation but it worked to mark where she needed to go now.

Knowing that she'd managed to locate her first clue Illyria recalled the next segment pretty easily before sighing, "now it's just a bit of a walk. Timing is apparently everything but the rest of the clue was to just enjoy the sights all around."

It was only then that it became apparent that something was watching her. The energy signature from before flashed across her senses before she spun around in a quick circle. Was it an ambush? Another Mauvian seemed to be nearby and unlike her ... this one was firmly anchored on Chaos' side. But were they there concealing ... or on their own. Her fur bristled all over her body before she appeared to grow twice as large as she arched her back ... looking very much like she had been startled but was trying to cover it up as best as she could.

"Come out," she hissed, "I know you're there, somewhere."

Finally getting a view of the other mauvian, Desiree noticed how small they looked even when they arched and bristled. They were certainly Order, and from what she figured based on their reaction, they were here alone.

Flicking her long and fluffy tail in the dust around her feet, Desiree rose up from the floor and moved slightly closer. "Just as I knew you were here, though maybe not for the same reason I am." Narrowing her one working eye, Desiree took in what she could of the other as she padded softly along the stone and dirt floor of the cavern. There was no bristling in her fur or tail as she walked, if anything she could just sit on and squish the other mauvian and with the low lighting they might not know she was half blind either.

The very first thing that Illyria noticed about the other Mauvian was that they sounded female. The second, and more important noticed thing, was that this Mauvian was huge. Like the other Mauvian she had come across last summer in the woods. She too had been a very large feline breed. What was it with meeting cats that were larger than herself?

Even as the other Mauvian got up and began to pace closer to her did Illyria narrow her gaze before backing up a step. "I don't think we're here for the same reason at all," flicking her gaze to stare beyond the other did Illyria suppress the urge to panic. It would come down to timing if there was a fight or a tactical retreat. But she was distinctively at a great disadvantage. What she had to do though was keep calm and hopefully not get too worked up that she'd trigger the internal SOS that would alert Ida that she was in danger.

Easy-peasy, right?

Even as she made to take another paw step backwards did Illyria suddenly dart forward in an effort to leap onto the stranger's back. The element of surprise would be her ally in this fight. Her claws flashed out once in order to try and get a good grip on the bulky frame of her opponent even as she tried biting at the back of the other's neck.

Desiree might be bigger but that also meant she was a bit slower. Thankfully she had a good layer of fur to help against the attack, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. Hissing she body checked the smaller mauvian and swatted back at them. Just barely avoiding them latching on as she slunk back a bit.

"I want to see what treasure lurks here and you seem to know where it's at. Other than that, I don't mean any trouble." Moving a bit faster Desiree slammed her paw down on their tail and went to try and scruff the smaller mauvian. If she could get them to show her where the thing was, it would be easier than trying to figure it out herself. It was hard enough avoiding the little rock formations when her depth perception was only soso, she should have seen if one of the corrupts she was helping would have come along on her explorations.

Ouch. Oh, that had been the wrong approach. Even as Illyria had managed to get a hold of the other, larger, cat did she find herself being swatted at as a type of deterrent to achieving a firmer grip. Landing on the ground as she was effectively dislodged did she hiss back in defiance. "What treasure would interest the like of you?"

What happened next almost would have been comical if it hadn't been her poor body that paid the price. The larger paw of her opponent managed to pin her tail down to the ground and even though there was technically only bone underneath the flesh and fur, she still emitted an agonized yowl before she felt the other's looming presence. The fur at the back of her neck rose as the breath of the strange Mauvian hit them before Illyria felt the teeth grasping for a grip at the base of her neck and she struggled for a moment before she stilled.

When she had still thought of herself as a regular kitten there had been times where she remembered having a larger cat make this same move in order to transport her to a new place. Was it a normal thing? Was this stranger not trying to end her life then?

Confusion reigned in her mind even as she defiantly remained silent. Even if she was caught as she was currently, this chaotic Mauvian would get no response from her except silence. Though even as she thought this ... did Illyria question the wisdom ... what if this Mauvian knew ... things.

That was a good question because it wasn't so much what interested her but what might cheer up her musician. At some point, she probably should consider poking around more stores as a civilian, though she'd have to ask Liam for money to avoid the other seeing charges on their card. She was sure the mirror senshi would understand, they had managed to reach that point after her initial suspicions of them.

The problem then came with the fact she really couldn't respond while carrying them so, after following some sort of marker thing, she set the smaller mauvian down while keeping one of her larger paws on them so they couldn't just bolt. "Could be anything, who's to say until it's seen." Because it could be about anything, sometimes what was advertised as being tucked away wasn't always the truth. She'd read more than enough stories about things like that happening.

Oh, that had been a marker for sure. Violet orbs tried to get a better look at it even as her pseudo-captor continued to pad forward without any indication that she was going into the right direction. Illyria sighed. This was not how she imagined discovering a new geocache. Even if she found the cache would this other Mauvian decide to steal what would rightfully be hers. The thought that anyone else would lay paws on what she deemed as her treasure only caused Illyria to struggle a little to try and escape the grip that had been established on her small body. The motion sent pinpricks of pain along the point of connection and caused her ears to go flat and a defiant hiss to emerge from her mouth.

Even as the other cat finally stopped did Illyria believe that there could be a way to simply dart away. As soon as her paws hit the ground was she attempting to wriggle out from the other's paw as it held her down. The size and weight difference worked currently in the stranger's favor and Illyria squirmed a bit more before admitting to herself that if she was going to come out on top she'd have to employ the ace up her sleeve. Would it be wrong to simply take this stranger to the cache? Would the other be content upon discovery or would there be other demands imposed after? What would happen if she ended up in even more danger as a result of giving in?

Closing her eyes and breathing in deeply did Illyria simply relax before she expanded the air in her belly before giving a barely audible growl. It was a warning ... she might've still been held down but she wasn't simply going to roll over and submit, not anymore. If claws and fangs, with a bit of bravado didn't do the trick ... then it'd come down to turning human and overpowering the other.

"I don't think you understand ... this 'cache is mine to find: not yours. I won't take you to it. I'm warning you...don't vex me."

Desiree huffed and growled back as she smiled. "I just want to see plus... who has back-up that can come here in the blink of an eye? Corrupt senshi can just blink and be here to help when I call." Though more likely it would be a General and their mirror senshi partner but the other didn't need to know that.

"How long would it take for your senshi to come help? More than a few minutes given how far this place is from most homes. So... if you please? Lead the way." Though it might be interesting if they did call for help, she was sure that getting some more information about order senshi would please her musician more than a trinket would. They had notebooks upon notebooks of information she had snuck and read through while they slept.

Lifting her paw slightly, enough to let them know to lead, Desiree kept herself between them and the exit. She may not be as fast but she took longer strides which would give her hopefully enough distance to keep up if they bolted.

Illyria huffed silently before she gave a wicked, knowing smile. Perhaps unknowingly the one that was causing her issues at the moment had given away a weakness of her own without even realizing it. Her tail twitched rapidly as she considered darting away; though the destination would be further into the cave and what good would that do her? Instead Illyria began contemplating the situation a little more. Her voice, sotto soft, questioned the other Mauvian's stance on the fact that help could be there in the blink of an eye, "is that so? As soon as you call them you say..."

Slouching just a little her violet eyes took in the other's larger form before she seemed to capitulate to the demands to lead the way. Her tail lashed from side to side before she spoke louder, "do you even know what a geocache is? That is what I was trying to find before I was so rudely interrupted," a glare was directed at Desiree even as Illyria saw a chance to spring her own version of a trap on the other. It would prevent her from calling in reinforcements quite nicely.

Trusting herself that this would work Illyria darted forwards, not quite running off, but putting some separation between herself and the other before she ducked around the next turn in the cave. She'd wait for the right moment to reveal her true form ... and then the tables would be turned; at least she hoped they would be. She could effectively make it so calling for help wasn't an option.

Patience was key, Illyria would change forms at the very last second to keep her opponent unaware. Her breath quieted down and she crouched down before the sound of pawsteps came closer. As the other strolled into view, Illyria closed her eyes before shifting forms to that of her humanoid figure. Her hands, now bearing fingers and thumbs grabbed at the back of other's neck before she eased her grip just a little. She sounded just a little smug as she moved to shift the bulk of the other cat to a more comfortable position while keeping her grip firm, "Care to rethink calling for allies now?"

Illyria sighed, "geocaches aren't anything really spectacular, but if you really want to see it...fine. But now we do this my way."

Narrowing her eyes as she followed, keeping watch while having just enough distance to avoid more of a scuffle for now. "Of course, especially with the one closest to me." Answering casually, she wasn't sure she quite liked the way they questioned her. Though her own comment was a bit untrue, it wasn't like Aloysius would instantly know where she was but he'd know enough from the tablet's location data and was prompt at showing up if she or Liam got into trouble.

Geocache... that sounded... slightly familiar, something along the lines of the dead drops Aloysius left for his agents around the city as emergency supplies if they needed them when he was unavailable due to working at the university. But with that pause, as she thought the mauvian seemed to dart forward and she growled while taking a moment to try and figure if it was a trap or not. She didn't like this cave, honestly, she didn't like anything that reminded her of the Rift.

And then there was a human... no a humanoid mauvian as she turned the corner to follow. This was unacceptable! Hissing and trying to get them to drop her, she yowled as her own weight hurt her and she eased up as they shifted her into a carrying position. This didn't feel nearly as safe as Liam carried her and she didn't like this one bit. If she could handle things in her civilian disguise she would but then that would blow her cover as well and she might not be able to go to the university or stroll around and interact with powered individuals as a "civilian" when she wanted to poke into things here and there.

Sighing in response, since it didn't seem like they were going to do anything else, Desiree was keen on seeing whatever was hidden in this little geocache thing. After all, she was still very curious about the whole idea, even if this area and this other mauvian were disagreeable. "Fine. Truce."

There was a moment during the scuffle when the other's claws had drawn parallel scratches on her human hand. Illyria hissed in response to the sensation of pain before she gave what could have passed as a human cough. This animosity, while probably deserved by both of them, wasn't the greatest thing to be on the receiving end of.

But Illyria said nothing. She dearly wanted to but when the other agreed to the momentary truce what would the point be?

Okay, so if the other Mauvian was going to play nice for the moment she could too.

"We aren't very far from where this cache is hidden. I'll put you down once we've gotten there. Just don't try anything afterwards. I am a lot bigger than you at the moment."

Shifting to try and get remotely comfortable, she was pleased a bit at the hiss she'd heard before it was covered with a cough. Looking around she saw how they were taking her past whatever that marker thing had been, piled up and not really something she would have figured much of if she wasn't used to similar markers Aloysius left behind.

Grumbling at the comment of being bigger than her, she knew she'd be taller if she was in her civilian glamor but that would cause more problems than it would solve. "Of course and that means you don't try anything either." She would have looked back at them but right now she was more focused on trying to get her bearings.

Flicking her tail as they moved along, she was more and more convinced that really only Liam knew how to handle her properly. Another grumble as she shifted and caught her paw on their outfit to keep from moving too much more.

"Are there a lot of these geocache in this city?" It wasn't her hobby nor really something she was completely certain of but she thought it might benefit Aloysius to know just in case he wanted to try new or different ways of dispensing things to his team.
