Prompt 1: The group has split up; while a large number of people remain in the storage wing, you have decided to help clear out some of the smaller rooms. Things are packed more securely here, and while there are some oddities on display, for the most part everything is secured in an array of wooden, stone, or metal boxes of varying security. You may see a strange item here or there, or something that catches your eye. There is an undeniably weird hum of energy in the room but Almadel has trusted you to behave.

While you must stay in the area, you can investigate anything. You can PM The Space Cauldron or DM xigglet on Discord if you want to check anything before posting; you can also ask if you can interact with anything or gain extra information about something your character is involved in. It is possible to find an artifact or relic that is some way important or relevant to your character but you must have permission. If you are interested in finding something, please be prepared to give a physical description and any relevant lore; we can work things out with you.

As you investigate, you hear a strange noise. Roll a 1d4 to locate it.

If you roll 1 it is coming from an air vent
If you roll a 2 it is coming from a storage box
If you roll a 3 it is coming from the wall
If you roll a 4 it is coming from under the floor

You can decide how to get to them; you may be fortunate and find a loose tile but you may have to break something to reach them (at player choice). Just remember that Almadel wants his museum in the best condition possible…

Prompt 2: You have located the sound–Kosopods, ranging from six inches to two feet wide. They are hard shelled isopods with many legs and prickly tails. They can be nearly any neutral color, it just depends on what they have been eating. They will immediately try to scatter. Roll 1d4 to determine how many Kosopods you have located; you can decide their size.

Prompt 3: The Kosopods immediately attack. They are frantic and hungry; they can spit acid that causes agitation and eventually burns through things and they have many sharp legs and sharp points on their shells. They can bite. Their shells are very hard and they can only be damaged by flipping them over to expose their delicate underbelly or possibly by overwhelming them with magic. They cannot be starseeded. They are vulnerable to fire but it might not be a good idea to start setting things ablaze if you want to stay on Almadel’s good side. Roll 1d4 to determine how many Kosopods you have defeated; if you roll lower than the last prompt, you will need to roll again until you defeat them all or hope that your allies rolled high enough to take out some of yours as well. If you roll a higher number here than you did in prompt 2, you can help your allies.

Prompt 4: Once the Kosopods have been defeated, you can take a moment to breathe. It sounds like things have calmed down outside in the large room that you arrived in. You can look around the area if you like (and if you sent anything in to find or examine, you can identify it now. It may be possible to steal small items from Almadel if you have sent in for approval). This post can be considered an exit or you can continue roleplaying until you are ready to leave. You can rejoin the closing post of the ORP when it is announced! This should be on Friday the 30th. While you do not need to have this RP finished at the time of the close, please try to close this RP promptly! You must write 500 words in this RP to be eligible for the prize!

Voyager had been disappointed that they barely had enough time to look around before the battling with the bugs had begun. Sure, he was told that there was a hive within the museum and that was why they were coming here in the first place, but the bugs could have at least waited until they had been there for a minute! And in all of the chaos he had found himself in one of the side rooms, this one with some storage boxes inside of it.

He knew it was wrong, but his fingers were itching to see what was inside. It wouldn’t hurt to take a peek would it? Though he could have sworn he heard some skittering or rustling, but surely all of the Kosopods were in the main room, even if they did come in here it would be a bit right?

Well, curiosity got the cat as they say and while he opened one of the boxes to “just take a peek” he found inside of it 4 Kosopods about 6 inches long that had been lounging within the darkness. For a moment, they all stood still, until the bugs brains had decided to kick in and they immediately launched an acid spit attack at Voyager who only barely managed to dodge it as he found himself hitting his behind on the floor after doing so.

For a moment all he could do was concentrate on the pain he was feeling in his bum, but realized that the Kosopods were climbing out of the box and headed toward him, once again shooting acid straight towards his face! Another dodge, a roll this time, and he was now near the end of the room with no way to escape and only the Kosopods in front of him. Well, now was a good a time as ever to try his magic, right?

He quickly got his compass out and concentrated on letting magic flow through it. The circle quickly came and not a moment too soon. The alien bugs had launched yet another spit attack and the circle only barely stopped it in front of his face! Well, it wasn’t stopping so much as really really really slowing it down. The Kosopods were now stuck in the circle as well, and Voyager took a quick step to the side to move away from the attack.

It seemed that the bugs were now at his mercy and unfortunately that mercy only extended to ending their existence quickly. He was so glad he had boots on right now. He was able to stomp a few times on each one while his magic circle was still going and when he was finally done, he moved away from them towards the entrance so that the only thing so far that would be covered in alien bug guts would be his boots. Honestly he almost wished that they were Youma instead. At least those just turned to dust and didn’t throw parts of themselves all over when they were defeated.

He tried to scrape off one of his boots on the storage boxes before he made his way back to the main room, hoping that he would at least be able to get something out of this whole ordeal.
