Under Construction (11) : Construction in Destiny City is a constant; it is never surprising to see buildings come and go. However, almost overnight it seems as though a large project has suddenly come to life. Where there was once an abandoned strip mall and a sad, trash laden park, the ground has now been completely bulldozed. There’s no information about this project available in any media outlets or online, and all attempts to research it result in dead ends. A large fence has been put up, but twelve feet of wire isn’t enough to keep out anyone curious enough to investigate. Cameras are set up all over the place and there is a strange, almost magical energy. The space is large enough to be a theme park. Strangely, frosted glass stars in an array of colors can be found randomly across the lot. Someone obviously has big plans for this space–already, some strange, fantastical buildings are going up. The space feels strangely large, and once you have jumped the fence it feels like Destiny City is a world away. The sky seems brighter and the city lights seem far away, almost as though there is some strange barrier separating the construction zone and the rest of the city. And, oddly enough, if you are standing outside the fence and looking into the construction zone, everything appears blurry and it's hard to make out the details. It’s strange, for sure–but nothing seems wrong about it. Yet.

Construction in the city typically took years. One year total if you were lucky and you were building something small, this is after all the paperwork and demo of course. So when Abby had heard that one of the old malls and the surrounding area had been fenced off and torn down, she only thought that the builders were moving fast. Demolition was fairly easy after all. Or at least that's how it always looked in videos and online. There were many articles that went on about how this building is coming to this part of town or how that building was being replaced. Hell, just look at how long it’s taken mega corporations like Disney and Universal to build their expansions. Granted they are doing more then just one building but they also had a buttload of money to throw at the problem. A lot more than some ‘small’ company here in Destiny City.
Oh no, what caught her attention was how fast buildings were apparently going up. The colorful stars weren’t that big of a deal since they could have been mostly compiled elsewhere and then put together there in the large lot but the fantastical buildings that were going up… not so normal that was for sure. The young lady strolled down the sidewalk in sight of the construction site, eyeing the cameras and the fence. It was a lot of security for such a large space. Something was fishy. Or at least that's what it seemed to her.
Casually the young woman meandered her way over, staying as far away from the cameras as possible, and peeked in on the construction. What the barriers didn’t block was blurry and indistinct. It was hard to make out any details, not even those brightly colored stars. Their outlines were vague at best. The whole construction space seemed quite large but it was so hard to tell. Abby backed off and wandered away, heading towards one of the various cafes that were close but still out of sight of the cameras. Once there she started to type away on her phone, nursing a cup of tea as she did so. It was sadly not very good but she didn’t really expect much from American tea. It was mostly just a fee to use the free wifi and table. The muffin though, that had been delicious and had quickly disappeared. She had also pocketed the little Sapphire star charm she had been given when she paid.
After a while of searching Abby sighed and contemplated her options. If she really wanted to write an article on the construction for her own blog, and maybe it’s possible mystical issues, she would have to trespass into the site itself. There was a webpage that mentioned how things were ‘strange’ on the other side of the fence. Something about feeling worlds away or some such. If she wanted to prove, or disprove, any of it she would have to actually break the law, something she would rather not do. Not only for the danger it posed but also because there was a lot of electronic security over the whole place. That meant it would be easier to be caught. Was this article worth it? Was it worth having a record? Especially since nothing seemed ‘wrong’... yet.
