Quote: The Lantern Festival (7) : Scientists have been hard at work trying to understand the strange, glowing qualities of the luminescent caterpillars found in the caves by the reservoir. The caterpillars still shrivel up if they are taken out of the caves but their glowing secretions have been processed into an organic paste that can withstand the outside world. The city is selling paper lanterns infused with various seeds. The glow paste is full of minerals to support healthy plant growth without risking damage to the environment; all lantern purchases come with a small packet of activating power that will heat the paste up enough to mimic the effects of a candle without the concerns of flammability. When the glow paste loses its heat, the lantern will return to the Earth and upon the first rain (or any contact with water) the paper will dissolve and the seeds may begin to grow. All proceeds from the lanterns are put right back into the community to support local conservation and environmental protection efforts. The night he'd gotten back from Daedalus, Procyon had holed himself up in the bathroom and ran the water until it was colder than ice. It never felt like it was enough scrubbing and he gargled and did whatever he could to get the lingering feeling of pollution off of himself. When he finally left the bathroom, shivering but at least semi-clean, he checked on Illyria since she'd been there as well on Daedalus. Where Selinur was he could never be sure but right now he was worried about his friend. "Are you alright Miss Illyria?" Peeking around the home as he worked on getting his hair back into neat tails. He'd gotten quite good at it even with the arm Daedalus had made him, barely needing to adjust it with his other hand nowadays. It was slow progress and there were still things he wasn't the best at but it was better than anything he could have done for himself. Standing in his pajamas, ones he'd made himself, he was mindful not to drip his hair onto the floor. He was still tired but the shower had helped and his concern for the mauvian felt more important than a nap right now. The little news pings on his phone mentioned some sort of festival as well and he thought that maybe it might be a good idea to look into that for the morning if she wanted to go. It might help them both bounce back from things, those lingering memories of what he'd seen but kept shaking off. The past was in the past and he could use something new and exciting to help and not think about it.

As much as she had wanted to settle down for a thorough grooming session Illyria knew that was out of the picture until she managed to find a way to get the smell of pollution out of her skin. She had found an old towel in which she had tried to at least towel dry some of the smell off of her, but in the end it wasn't enough. Blinking owlishly at the kitchen sink in Orah's apartment Illyria thought that it was probably the safer option out of all the available faucets in the place in which she would be small enough to fit comfortably under and easily to manipulate with her paws. It just so happened that she had been kicked out of her transformed stage as soon as they'd arrived back to Earth from Daedalus' home world. It meant making the way home a little easier to bear although she was still very much in demand of some TLC and soon.
There was however another situation that Illyria had to contend with. Back up on Daedalus, she had picked up on a very familiar feeling that had been emanating off of Procyon and it was something that made her both worry for her friend yet also glad for him as well.
As the sounds of Procyon's shower stopped in the distance the Mauvian sighed before looking at the small mess that she had made before nimbly leaping out of the sink and dragging a towel over, not only to clean up the mess in the sink but also one that she'd contend to roll around in afterwards in order to do her best to dry off. As Procyon's voice called out for her to see if she was alright Illyria had to give the softest of trilling sounds before she dropped the now wet drying towel into the sink before sitting as primly as she could on the counter top. The image would be spoiled by the fact that she still had water droplets in her fur and she stepped onto the larger towel before calling back, "I'm fine. Little damp but that's all."

Walking into the kitchen he smiled a bit at the scene. "Need help drying off?" Seeing the droplets of water on the mauvian as she sat on the counter, it reminded him of how he'd been when they'd met. Walking across the floor, he looked over the towels and sink for a moment as he finished with his hair. "I was wondering maybe if you are feeling up for it I'd like to look into this Star Fest thing if you want to go? I think it might be something fun to do after helping out Daedalus. I think he'll be pretty happy I didn't manage to bang up the arm he made me again while helping out and he looked like he was feeling better afterward too."
It was a relief because he'd been really worried about his friend when he'd seen them in such a bad state in the park. Hopefully, everyone else was doing alright even if he hadn't gotten the chance yet to check up on the senshi he knew.

Illyria would have been content afterwards with a simple grooming session to remove any last drops of moisture out of harder to reach areas but the offer from Procyon to speed up the drying process wasn't turned down, not at all. In fact the sooner she dried off the sooner she could be curled up on a nice soft cushion before simply allowing herself a moment of rest. Giving one more roll around in the towel that she'd set aside for her use she nodded in response to Procyon's question before realizing he'd asked her two things.
"I think I do need a little bit more help in drying off. Just grab a corner of the towel and run it gently over the my ears and back. Everything else is drying okay so far but that will speed things up."
Her fur was currently all over the place in terms of directions but she gave an awkward lick to her chest fur before remembering the second question that Procyon had asked. The memory of attending the lantern festival last year gave the Mauvian pause before she hastily nodded, "I'd love to accompany you there Procyon. It'll be fun. I think fun is needed after what we just went through."
She lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper then, "I believe it'll be an interesting sight to see."
Truly, if what she had picked up emanating from Procyon back on Daedalus, which as she sat primly on the towel, came across her once more, then she did have what would hopefully be a night to remember for the Senshi of Liminality.

"I can do that, it must not feel that great getting wet with fur." Feeling a bit bad as he helped her with the towel and pat her dry lightly, he hoped it wasn't bad for her to get wet. It was something he was still figuring out, how creatures with fur dealt with things. Once she looked sufficiently dry, he stretched a bit and smiled. "I think so too, I know the festivals back home floated little boats across the water but sending lanterns up sounds really pretty." It was something he was curious about seeing and he also wanted to look into more about this sort of summer festival they had here in this city. Hearing that it would be interesting, he smiled and nodded. "Okay, then we can go tomorrow night? I think I need to sleep most of the day if that's okay, I'm still really worn out after everything." Another bout of stretching as he yawned before he waved good night to Illyria and went to go pass out onto the pile of plush he'd made in the space that was set up for him. -------------------------------------------------------------- Sleeping the day away was an understatement as the sun was already starting to set when Procyon woke up. His mouth was dry and he found that he was a bit stiff from how he'd sort of thrown himself at the bed and passed out without really getting comfortable. Sitting up, he rubbed at his face and looked around. "Illyria?" Calling out quietly as he fumbled himself into different clothes, something he was still getting the hang of and very much hating buttons still. Ducking his head out through the doorway, he looked around for her now that he was dressed and decent even if he was still a bit sleepy.

The previous night's events had taken more of a toll on Illyria than she had realized. She too had spent a good portion of the day curled up in her favorite blanket. Unlike Procyon though, Illyria found herself roused in the early afternoon and decided that it had been enough slumber. Things needed to be attended to and well, she was excited. After finding herself a meal to eat the Mauvian moved out into the living room and curled back up on the couch but she wasn't sleeping this time. No, her gaze was locked on the view that came from beyond Orah's garden on the patio to measure the passage of time by the lengthening shadows. Her tail twitched often in anticipation about the sights that Procyon would experience tonight.
Her gaze shifted a few times as she would yawn, or scratch an itch, or groom out the last reminders of the battle on Daedalus but for the most part the Mauvian was a cream-colored living statue, just waiting for the time when her newest charge would emerge from his own slumber.
Even as the sun began its descent in the western sky did Illyria blink suddenly at the sound of Procyon's voice calling for her once more and she sat up and arched her back for stretching, "I'm in the living room." Illyria wanted to tease the senshi but she bit her tongue. It wouldn't be the right moment to do so. Instead the Mauvian leaped off the couch and padded over to the sleepy senshi before she grinned up at him, "think you are ready to head out now? We could go see the lanterns and afterwards I can treat you to dinner."

Rubbing his eyes, Procyon nodded and stretched. His colorful short-alls peeked out from under his oversized cardigan. "I think so, sorry if I'm a bit tired still. I hadn't used my magic so much before and it really wore me out." It had been one of the reasons he'd slept the day away. Hearing the mention of food, he wondered if there was special festival food that would be available. Finding things on Earth that he liked to eat had been a bit difficult at some points. A lot of things upset his stomach, especially the meats and seafood of this planet. "Oh I'd love to try any of the limited foods for this festival, it sounds like it might be fun and maybe I'll find something tasty." Following along, he made sure he had his phone and keys. Both of which were covered in bright and colorful keychains and straps so that he wouldn't lose either. They neatly clipped to the side of his short-alls and he tucked them both into the pocked before pulling his cardigan back down. Even when he was in his human glamor, some people looked oddly at the arm Daedalus had made for him so he kept long sleeves on as much as he could.

If Procyon was ready to go, then Illyria wasn't going to dawdle herself. Choosing to remain her feline form for the moment she padded softly after the Senshi of Liminality before she once more subtly made sure of her assumptions. Finding that the feeling was still there had the Mauvian's tail standing just a little bit straighter with pride for her friend. Procyon had no idea his night was filled with a marvellous surprise, and it wasn't just going to be the sight of lanterns floating in the air. No, this new surprise was one of Procyon's doing alone ... she just happened to hold the key that would unlock the changes she sensed within.
*****
Upon arrival at the Festival grounds Illyria took a moment to disappear from Procyon's side in order to activate her own glamour. For the time being it'd be wiser to appear normal to attract less attention to themselves until it was time for the lanterns to be released. Besides, she was hungry and ordering food as a cat would be next to impossible. So upon returning to Procyon's side, Illyria was in her glamoured appearance and contentedly munching on one of several cheese pastries she'd purchased. Her free hand held out the bag as if inviting Procyon to help himself before she swallowed, "couldn't wait til after the lanterns were done for the night, help yourself. I bought several so we could have a few each."
Even as she waited to see if Procyon took some of the pastries did Illyria point with her now emptied hand towards a direction she wanted to go in, "if we walk that way, we can view the lanterns in a more secluded area. There's something else we need to talk about and I don't wish to be disturbed."

As Illyria stepped away, Procyon, now as his glamour Cameron, looked around in awe at all the little stalls and stands with their decorations and trinkets. He was poking about the little dangling star charms as Illyria returned with a bag of something that smelled interesting. Accepting the bag, he nibbled on one of the cheese breads and nodded. It sort of looked like a crescent moon and the center was some sort of mild cheese though he still didn't know all the different types there were here. "Mmm this is really good, thank you." He was finishing up the bread as his eyes followed where she was pointing. "Oh that sounds good, what's up? Is everything alright?" Things were still slugging along after the trip to Daedalus and he had been a bit worried about her but he hadn't had the energy after it all to ask about things. In all honesty, sleeping was still something he wanted to do just a bit more of but the notion of this festival and all the things that came along with it was too exciting to pass up. Stepping away from the stalls and crowd, he admired the little charms that still hung from the trees. "It really is pretty, reminds me of home when we would celebrate the changing of the tides." Gently poking some of the dangling charms, one of them jingled and he figured it was some sort of chime as well.

"You're welcome," passed through Illyria's lips in a short reply to the thanks that had been given to her. Watching as Procyon, no he was Cameron right now, move around at ease in his glamoured state filled Illyria with just a small sense of pride. The item she had constructed had obviously done the trick with hiding the more unusual aspects of his normal appearance. Her gaze was expressive as the senshi checked out of few of the star-shaped charms and she had a hunch that she'd probably end up buying a few for later as a memento of the evening.
At the question of if everything was alright Illyria gently grasped at Cameron's free hand before she pressed a finger to her lips to indicate that now wasn't a good time to talk. There was too much of a risk of being overheard.
"We should go to the area I mentioned before we talk. There's just something I want to discuss with you because I think I can help you out again."
With that said Illyria moved away from Procyon's glamoured state before she began to head in the direction of the place that would be their destination for the night. It would be up to the senshi to decide when he wanted to meander over. Illyria was patient and she had a feeling that she had piqued the curiosity of the Senshi of Liminality.

Quieting down at Illyria's hint, he nodded and followed along. It was something he was certainly curious about. If talking about it in the open wasn't okay, he had a feeling it might be something about magic or what they'd dealt with on Daedalus. There really hadn't been time yet to check in and find out what she might have seen since he hadn't seen great things during it. He didn't take long to follow along the rest of the way away from the crowd of festivalgoers. They all had lanterns or charms, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves which felt like a relief after things. "Is everything okay? I know things up there didn't go as easily as I thought they might." In all honesty, it made him worried about his own world, one he hadn't gone to look at yet because he hadn't the foggiest idea of how to do anything about it. He still tried to keep a smile on his face because even if the crowd was out of eavesdropping range, he didn't want anyone to come over worried and ask questions. It was a lot to think about still even if he'd woken up set on moving past it.

Once they were ensconced in an area that they had all to themselves Illyria brought out her own little pen and clicked it off in order to return to her feline state. Her eyes were a lot sharper in this state and it was easier to suss out if there seemed to be powered signatures lurking around. Realizing that they were truly alone did she return to stare up at Cameron. "Everything is fine. I am curious though if you can drop your glamour and become Procyon. There's something that I picked up on when we were battling the chaos up on Daedalus's home world and I wondered if I could ask you something?"
While she waited to see if Cameron would indeed power up Illyria sat down on the ground before she began to groom one of her front paws. It travelled over her head to rub at her ears before she began to purr. "I guess this question can't wait now but I wanted to know ... are you feeling any different at the moment? Like do you feel like there's perhaps a feeling of having an itch or sensation that just isn't going away? I've picked up on something and I think I know what to do about it but I just wanted to get your opinion first."
She waited patiently to see how Procyon would respond. The feeling that Procyon was ready for more power had registered deep inside where she was able to tap into that knowledge but she wanted to know if the senshi that awoke on their own world would have that same sense that maybe, they were ready for something more.
