What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.

Lacaille was sitting on the hill watching the rainbow fireflies, she knew better than to touch them since she had seen them before and been shocked by them. She was watching others to make sure they didn't touch them either, she didn't want anyone else to have to learn the hard way if she could help it. Perhaps it wasn't saving anyone from having their energy drained but she considered it important too. They really were beautiful though, some part of the special magic that was star festival. She loved watching the colors blink to life in the grass. She sighed watching in wonder of the little bit of magic. At least this magic only shocked people a little bit, so it was far kinder than some other things in this city that could in fact hurt you very badly. So far things had seemed pretty peaceful in the city, sides from the strange absence of the mysterious merchant. She was still worried about him and hoped they would hear something soon. For now she was just going to enjoy a peaceful evening watching the fireflies and making sure no one got hurt by them if she could help it.

Chibi Totoro had stumbled upon this sight of tiny little rainbow lightning bugs and his eyes grew wide as saucers watching them. "Ohhhh mama would love these" He said adjusting his hood to his uniform so it wasn't drooping into his line of vision.
He saw a lady sitting on the hill near by he wondered if she knew anything about them and made his over to her but he was pretty set in his mind that catching one shouldn't be that hard. He'd just need something to keep it in. Why didn't he think to bring his bug box like he usually did when he was out hunting bugs.
"Excuse me, Ma'am." He placed his hands behind his back as if he was trying to look fairly innocent and not like he was plotting on how to capture one of these strange buggies for his mother. "Do you know anything about these strange lightnin buggies?" He asked again adjusting his hood as he looked back towards the bugs.

Lacaille sighed out and said "Oh I am so glad you asked, yes don't touch them they will shock you, and I don't think you can collect them either, I'm pretty sure they are magic so if you take then away from here they will disappear or die. " She tried to make the last part gentle. They were clearly young so she didn't know if it would still upset them. "They are beautiful though aren't they, and they only appear during the Star festival." She watched them blink their rainbow of colors in the dark. It really was magic watching them so beautiful. She looked back at the young senshi, she often worried about chibis fighting in this never-ending battle. She wondered what guardian cat had awoken this one. She was sure they had their reasons she still didn't like children fighting in these battles. Then again she was hardly more than a child herself and so many other senshi and knights were young too.

Totoro tilted his head as Lacaille spoke about the lightning bugs and the fact they shocked you if you tried to catch them. There was a small pout from the chibi as he seemed to try and think about what he could do so he could show his mother the pretty bugs.
Granted if he tried to get her to come out with him she'd be mad that he was out past his bed time. "I want my mom to see 'em but if they're magic and they shock you . . . I don't know how to get her to see them."
He settled down beside the older senshi watching the bugs as they flew around. "It's interesting they only show up during this festival. I wonder why." He'd seen lots of normal lightning bugs, these though the lady must be right; they had to be a magical LED sorta lightning bug to have all those colors.
"Do you think they upgraded their bulbs to those fancy LED ones to be able to do colors like that? I know normal lightnin' bugs don't have rainbow colors."

Lacaille thought about it and then said "Why don't you just ask your mom to bring you to the festival, see the fireflies, see the meteor shower, I bet she would let you stay up past your bedtime for a special day together." She said in a friendly tone. Lacaille shrugged and said "I have no idea why they only appear during the star festival but they are beautiful." Lacaille laughed then and said "Maybe that is their magic." She didn't see a reason to burst his bubble and his guess was as good as any other guess since you couldn't touch them without getting shocked. "I'm Lacaille, senshi of books." She said softly. She didn't want to shout about being a senshi but she knew what he was and he should know what she was too.

Totoro looked at Lacaille when she mentioned that maybe he should suggest to his mom to come out and see the fireflies and meteor shower. The thought was processing when suddenly it seemed to register, "Oooohhh that's a great idea!"
He seemed thoughtful when the other said they didn't know why they only appeared during the star festival but maybe that was their magic. "They're pretty neat!" He said still fairly interested in wanting to try to at least hold one but the fact she said they would shock you kept him from trying to run after them.
"Oh! I'm Chibi Totoro, senshi of Raccoons!" He said with a twist and a wiggle of his tail and grinning, "Isn't this the most awesome super hero costume?" He asked and then seemed to look curious, "What does a senshi of books do? Do you live in a library? Or work in one or both?"

Lacaille found herself bombarded by questions from the excited chibi. She smiled and took them one by one. "Yes that is an awesome super hero costume, but I hope you are being careful patrolling." She paused "Well I have magic based on my books and I go to school, and yes I work in a book shop part-time." She wouldn't tell him where since who they really were was secret.

Totoro beamed when she said she hoped he'd been careful patrolling, "Oh I haven't been out much yet. I heard about the bugs and wanted to try and catch one to show my mom."
He paused, "Well before I meet you and being told about the fact they shock people." He frowned a little, "I'm still learning what I can do, I typically try to stick to one of the smaller neighborhood parks or the playground at the elementary school."
He looked excited that her magic was based on books and that she worked in a book shop, "Oh that's so cool!! I hope I can do something as neat when I'm old enough."
While most of his reading was kept to books school assigned or something like that. That didn't mean he thought the bookstores were bad, he liked going into them and finding colorful books that caught his eye or sometimes other trinkets that they carried.

Lacaille smiled "Well maybe you still have time tonight if you go home and tell your mom you want to see the glow bugs." She suggested. She was really glad to hear the chibi wasn't doing anything dangerous like chasing after nega agents. "I'm sure you will be able to." She said warmly.

Totoro seemed to think about going home to talking to his mom about coming out to see the glow bugs. He nodded excitedly, "Yeah! I think that's a good idea!"
He looked at the time on his senshi phone before he looked back at the senshi of books, "I hope we can meet again! I hate to run but you've given me a good idea!"
He also looked at his phone, "I hope you don't mind if I get your information so we could message each other if we ever need help?" He beamed because before he left her he wanted to make sure they could reach out to each other. Even though he was just a kid he could still help since he was senshi!
