Quote: The Wishing Tree (1): A Destiny City Star Festival Tradition to be held every year; In Town Square, there is a beautiful tree with spreading branches. It is tall, but the lowest branches are easily reached. The city has decorated the tree with small, starlike ornaments and glistening lights. Thick leaves and beautiful purple flowers dangle from the branches, along with a myriad of different colored papers with handwritten wishes. Next to the tree is a stack of blank paper with twine attached, and a handwritten sign that explains: Write your wish on a sheet of paper and tie it to the tree. Take one wish off the tree and do your best to grant it. When you have granted the wish, bury the paper in the park. The papers are biodegradable and filled with seeds. There are no rules for wishing, but you are encouraged to wish for something vague enough that it can be interpreted in many ways so that it can be granted; you do not write your name on it, but it is encouraged to write something that doesn’t wish for self gain, but rather something that can make the world a better place. Some wishes dangling from the tree already include things like “I wish there wasn’t so much litter in the park,” “I wish someone would clean the graffiti off the old historic buildings,” and “I wish there were more volunteers at the shelter.” If you choose to use the Wishing Tree, what do you wish for? If your wish is private, you may write it on the paper and choose a spot in the park and bury it yourself instead of hanging it on the tree.

Lacille was sitting watching people tie their wishes to the tree the problem was she didn't know what she wanted to wish for. There were silly things that couldn't possibly happen like peace in the city, no one could fulfill that wish, and there would always be clashes for power in this city. She just couldn't see a way for that to happen. She wasn't sure if that would be her wish if she had a genie it felt wrong somehow. She picked up a piece of grass and she twirled it with her fingers. Perhaps she could make a simple wish like asking someone to donate some books to the local library or school. She continued to twirl the grass in her fingers as she watched more people tie wishes to the tree. It was a really nice tradition and it was fun since her hair as Lacaille fit in perfectly with the festival. Civilians pretty much never noticed anything strange when it was star festival season. She smiled looking around at all the banners and decorations it really was a beautiful festival. Her mind started to wander as it often did when she wasn't sure what to do.

Moving through the crowds while powered up was an exhilarating experience, Ilmare thought. No one even gave her a sideways glance. She supposed it helped that so many other people were out in full or partial fursuits and random space themed cosplay. No one was going to think about a vaguely flower themed person running around. As long as she didn’t use her magic and no overly righteous senshi or knights came at her, all was golden.
Thus far into her experiment, the only remarks she’d gotten had been from other girls asking about her hair routine and how had she gotten it so long.
Well kids, you only have to sell your soul to a Chaos deity…
“Conditioner!”
Her goal was the Wishing Tree. She wanted to see it, maybe leave a wish in the branches, maybe see if she couldn’t grant a few wishes while she was powered up… That would be fun, she thought. Do a little good in the disguise of being bad. Sounded like her kinda deal.
As she approached the tree, she felt an Order aura and groaned on the inside. Well, no help for it. Surely they felt as free to be themselves at the Festival as she did. She’d just behave and there wouldn’t be any problems.
She hoped.
Moving towards the table holding the slips of paper and some pencils, she snagged one of each and then went off to the side to sit and consider what she could wish for.

Lacaille heard someone yell conditioner, she found that a little weird but she decided to ignore it in favor of twirling the piece of grass and watching people. She sensed the chaos energy nearby but there was no way they would be able to fight here with so many civilians nearby. She supposed even members of the chaos faction had wishes they wanted to make. So she saw no reason to bother them, she wouldn't mind talking to them. She wondered why they were in the chaos faction, was it a choice or was it an accident? Did they really want to be in the chaos or did they not know how to get out? Was there a way to get out? Lacaille wasn't actually sure now that she thought of it. She got up and went to the table to get a piece of paper for herself and a pencil to write her wish. She decided to go with the donating books to the library wish. It was a simple wish so it was possible to be granted.

Spine stiffening as she felt the Order aura get closer, Ilmare kept up a cheerful facade and peeked up from her paper to scan the crowds. Eyes narrowing as she saw the person that she thought might be responsible for the grating against her senses, she thought she had maybe two choices: ignore or engage. And by engage, she wasn’t thinking of starting a fight. Maybe just a gentle warn off.
Getting to her feet, wish in hand, she wandered close to what she was certain was the other senshi. Then, pitching her voice low so only they’d be able to hear, she said, “Hope you aren’t thinking of fighting. Too many innocents around, you know and I really don’t want to ruin anyone’s good time. Can we be cool about this?”
Smiling pleasantly, she moved past the girl and went to a branch that wasn’t too thickly clustered with strips or paper to tie her wish up. And once that was done, she hung around, reading other wishes.
She was going to show this girl that she wasn’t a danger to anyone there.

Lacaille nodded "Of course we can keep this cool as you say, I would hope you would want to hurt anyone here and I'm sure you are supposed to stay hidden as well, so fighting in a crowd like this wouldn't be good for either of us, nope I just want to hang my wish on the tree like everyone else. " She said softly walking over to the tree to hand her wish on the tree it wasn't big or complicated but it was a nice wish and she liked it. Perhaps her other thought had come true a little they didn't have to fight and that was kinda like peace. It might not be peace all over the city but it was something.

Smiling a little at the other senshi’s answer, Ilmare nodded agreeably. Finally, finally! Someone on the other side with a bit of sense! Well, okay, that wasn’t fair. Not everyone she’d met had been fight-happy, but most had needed a lot more compromise and talking than this in order to let her be.
Moving casually to see the wish that’d just been hung up, Ilmare’s smile became brighter. This was something she could grant! But she didn’t want to take it just yet. She could wait until after the crowds were gone. And if it was still here, she’d get it. If not, she’d find another wish to grant.
Besides, it was probably unlucky to take a wish when the wisher was still standing there.
“Fair enough,” she said quietly. “A little normalcy is good for everyone. Especially folks like us.”
She went quiet, still reading wishes, though she did glance over at the senshi curiously.
“What’s the etiquette if you wanna make more wishes? We allowed? Or is it just Not Done?”

Lacaille turned to the person who was asking her questions, because they were still a person so matter what happened. "I don't see why you can't make more wishes, I've never heard of a rule about too many wishes, after all they are just little pieces of paper and writing." She was only going to make one wish, but she didn't want to stop others with more wishes.

”Magic has to have rules, you know,” Ilmare said with a faint smile. “Especially wishing magic. Otherwise, why would we have all the stories and myths about it?”
Not that Ilmare herself believed that. But it followed a sort of logic. If magic and wishes weren’t real, then why did they have so many rules? It was very childlike logic, to be sure, but sometimes, that wasn’t such a bad thing.
Still, that didn’t stop her from hurrying to grab another little slip of paper and writing out a hurried wish as she went back to where the other senshi stood. As she tied it to the tree, she did her best to make sure it was quite visible to the other girl.
Peace and Love on the planet Earth
Sure, it was cheesy and beyond impossible given how people just were. But this was more about making a statement than crafting a moderately easy to grant wish. Sometimes, you had to step back and just trust people to do the right thing.

Lacaille smiled and said "This isn't wishing magic, you put your wish on the tree and other people take the wishes and try to grant them." She explained.

So much for whimsy, Ilmare kept her sigh purely internal. Still, no reason to let herself enjoyment be tripped up by semantics.
“Just because it’s people and not fairies or wishing stars doesn’t make it less magical and it shouldn’t,” she said firmly. “In fact, maybe it makes it more magical because the average person usually doesn't go out of their way to grant wishes like this.”
The heck with waiting, she thought. Reaching out, she snagged the first wish that came to hand. She’d come back later when everyone was gone and take more. Tucking the paper into her belt, Ilmare smiled and gave the other senshi a friendly mock salute.
“World needs more of this kind of magic, not less,” she said.

Lacaille smiled "On that we will have to agree, it's kinda nice to have one thing in this city that shouldn't have weird magical ramifications." Anyone who was in the know knew that this whole city was a comedy of errors ever single holiday. Try to get a bag of candy end up with your mouth sealed. Drink a cup of cocoa and end up with some weird magical malady. End up with a doll in your house that you can't get rid of. It was always something.

Grinning, Ilmare broke into a chuckle. She’d been in this weird a** town long enough to know that all kinds of magic were very, painfully, real.
“Oh, there’s probably still weird ramifications, they just stay on the smaller, more benign side of things. I mean, look at the firework flowers or that crazy batch of star fruit!”
She paused for a moment considering, then abruptly stuck her hand out. “It’s nice to know we can find something to agree on. Wish more of our, ahh… co-workers could do the same. But we should both probably go our own ways before someone sees us and goes reporting to someone in Authority.”
She suspected that was more likely for her since as far as she knew, White Moon senshi didn’t have a specific authority figure to listen to. Whereas she had Queen Laurelite. And she did not ever want to end up on the Queen’s bad side.
“It was nice chatting. Enjoy the rest of the Festival,” Ilmare said brightly. She needed to go figure out the best way to grant some wishes.
”MiddyGlow” I think we can probably wrap this in your next post. ♥
