After having figured a few things out with Alexandre, René started piecing together a plan. He’d figure out what he could to help his partner apologize and honestly, he was a bit curious about the DMS that was apparently Chalcanthite’s partner. To be honest he hadn’t figured they had time for a partner with how often they apparently worked and their partner had never been at any of the teaching sessions either. So driving over to the manor, bringing along the notebooks that he had on loan from Chalcanthite, he figured he’d poke around and find some things out under the guise of returning notes. It was a lot to carry once he got out of the car, having him stacking the things up and holding the tall stack with his chin as he knocked on the door firmly. “Hello, Aloysius?” Calling out just a bit as he leaned and peeked through the pane of glass on either side of the door.

Liam had been home, cleaning a bit, while dinner cooked in a Dutch oven that he’d put in only a little while ago. It would take a few hours, he’d made sure it would be done shortly before Aloysius got home, so when someone knocked on the door Liam was surprised. He knew it wasn’t Aloysius, he didn’t knock anyway, and puzzled he went to answer the door. “Can I help you?”
He was dressed in lounge pants and a loose, slightly oversized, t-shirt which while it was loose fitting it certainly showed off his arms and what all that time in the gym had gained him. His body was good at bulking up, he wasn’t so slim and he didn’t get tight lean muscle, he was broad and had the body to add size to. He would never be big like a powerlifter, not that he wanted to be, but he had good size to himself while not looking out of proportion or too big like some who looked like they took steroids…unnatural.
“Were you looking for someone?”

Looking down just a bit, he was a bit surprised at the person who answered the door and wondered for a moment if this wasn’t in fact the Sharp manor. Setting the stack of notebooks down he wiped the dust from them off on his pants before speaking. “I guess I missed him, I’m René, Alexandre’s partner. I was returning these notebooks that Aloysius lent me, may I come in? I can bring these all in and there are some more in my car over there.” Pointing back towards his car for a moment, he still took a second look at the small mailbox and saw it did say Sharp on it.
“I forgot that he’s pretty busy but I had to close my shop today anyway to get some things done for taxes.” Groaning a bit, he kept on with the easygoing chatting, something that bothered Alexandre at times. He was buddy-buddy with most people when it mattered, especially when it came to Alexandre’s family but Aloysius had been pretty helpful so he’d play nice here and try to help fix things that his partner had messed up.
“I’m not sure we’ve met before though, I’m still fairly new to things in this country but Aloysius helped me a few times when Alexandre couldn’t.” Offering his hand to shake in greeting he figured they were a bit more casual than Aloysius, they at least looked it as well as they looked like they worked out. It wasn’t something he expected either to be honest but it was interesting either way and they had some height to them though nobody was as tall as he or Aloysius, at least not that he had met so far.

“That’s fine, you can bring them in and I can grab the rest from your car?” Offering to help, because when wasn’t Liam helping others in some way? It was what he was good at, and he knew it, so he was already ducking back into the house to grab a pair of shoes, slipped them on, and headed towards the other’s car then. “Aloysius is out, at work, but I’ll make sure he knows they’ve been returned.” he’d just send him a text to let him know, he did keep the other up to date on what was going on at home whenever he could, it was something he did more often than he had before his broken arm.
He’d always kept Aloysius in the loop but that accident had him texting him updates more often, anything he figured the other might appreciate knowing, because he knew how his partner could be. He worried - it was how Aloysius was.
He’d made quick work of things, going to get the remaining notebooks from the other’s car, and was returning when the other was offering their hand. So he managed a bit of a balancing act in order to shake the offered hand. “Liam Blackwood, it’s nice to meet you. Alexandre is…interesting, though I’ve only seen your partner once. I know he’s a general like my partner and rather talented.” If not a big violent and very loud.
Shifting the notebooks a bit, as he took his hand back, he used his head to motion the other inside with him - using a foot to close the front door behind them both.

“Perfect, that’ll make things go faster. He really did give me a lot to read through and it took a while.” It had been nearly impossible before Katya started to help him sift through things. It all worked out in the end at least.
Shaking their hand, they had a firm grip and seemed a lot less stiff than the general he knew. “Nice to meet you, Liam. Ah yes, mon ange is quite a character and I am sorry if he caused you both any trouble. Sometimes he jumps into things a bit quickly and at that time we were going through a rough patch. I’ve been working with him about being a bit better with things like that so don’t worry about a repeat of that incident.” Smiling and joking as he set the stack of books down on the nearest table, he took a look around at things and noticed more than a few music-themed items and notions.
“I’ve not heard about you to be honest, although I work with Chal a bit he never speaks of anything other than work. I did see him once at one of those teaching lessons he does for my partner’s family but again he keeps busy and doesn’t really seem to talk much about things.” Someone who kept things close to the chest without being rude. Diverting the conversation to who he was talking to instead of himself and it was something René was used to seeing. He’d done it a lot himself when wooing people at the bar before meeting Alexandre.
“Are you also an agent or senshi? Since you mentioned general I guess that means you know both sides of things. It’s a lot easier that way I think, it’s helped Alexandre and I work things out.” Without hiding things or injuries and being able to rely on each other, it had helped ease both of their worries in their own ways. That and actually having conversations with the blond.
“Is it okay if I sit for a moment? I’ve been running around all day.” Looking towards the couches over to the side for a moment he motioned towards them.

He wasn’t upset, or surprised, when the other told him that Aloysius didn’t speak about him. He expected it really. “He doesn’t talk about his personal life much, I don’t even know everything about him.” And they’d been dating for over a year at this point, but it was worth it for him, he didn’t want things made easy for him. Having set the notebooks down, next to the stack René had set down, Liam was motioning the other towards the kitchen. “Tea, coffee, water? Perhaps something else?” He offered, already pulling out a chair as he moved towards the fridge.
“A dark mirror senshi…we’re chaos but neutral. It’s made things easier, especially for Aloysius, as I’m less likely to wind up in a fight and hurt.” Though there had been that one exception to the usual rule with his court. “We don’t pick a side and tend to not get involved in things unless we have to.” Which he was fine with, he didn’t exactly enjoy being hurt and laid up in bed, and he knew it did wonders for Aloysius who didn’t need to worry so much about him.
“Mmm, I can see how it would help your partner as well. Secrets in relationships I’ve heard are no good - they build worry and have people doubting their partners. Thankfully I don’t know anything about such. I’ve only dated one person and Aloysius I never hid it from.” He had no desire to hide what he got up to at night.

That did surprise him in a way, that even this man who was apparently with the general didn’t know everything. Taking the offered seat in the kitchen he blurted out his knee-jerk reaction before catching himself. “Red wine if you have it or espresso just plain.”
Waving his hand after a second he apologized and then thought of other options. “If neither of those just a bottle of water or something, thank you.” Looking around the kitchen, he noticed that some of the appliances looked like they had been tampered with and there were little switches or things lower down on some of them almost as if they were Katya’s height. Maybe there was a mauvian here too but he hadn’t heard anything about that and Alexandre hadn’t brought it up.
“That sounds a lot better than being a corrupt, I’m not one for fighting really either. Staying neutral like the Swiss in a way I guess. If only things had happened differently but I can’t complain much about how it ended up for me. The teleporting thing is quite nice for getting around.” Crossing a leg over and resting his ankle on his other knee as he sat, he watched the blond for a moment before continuing his visual exploration of the kitchen. Pausing at the mention that Aloysius had been the one and only for this blond. It was a bit shocking to him, hearing someone settled and happy with their first-ever experience. He wouldn’t push it or pry though because he wasn’t here to make anything worse.
“That’s a good thing then, how did you both meet anyway? Feel free to tell me to shut up if I ask too much but I’m always terribly curious about things. It’s so different here in America and I’m still figuring out some things. I think… it will be a year that I’ve been here come winter. The weather is especially wild here and of course… all the magic.” Groaning a bit at the thought of the upcoming summer and fall magic that Alexandre had warned him of, he shook his head for a moment.
“I guess I get to figure all that out firsthand here soon since I only dealt with a bit last year.”

“That is true, teleporting is a bit more convenient. It’s a quicker and easier way to escape if you need it, you’re lucky in that way. I have to find a mirror and walk through it to get away from someone. Thankfully we have mirrors hidden all around the city, it’s just a matter of remembering them.” While being chased, injured, or otherwise stressed in some manner. It was not always an easy thing and some mirrors were just too damn far away to make in time.
Being that Aloysius was a recovering alcoholic, and he didn’t drink, there was no wine in the house aside from the sort for cooking and even that was tucked away somewhere. As for espresso they did have a machine for that, since Melody came over often enough. “I can do espresso, though I don’t often make it. It gives Aloysius the jitters and I don’t really see the point.” Shrugging as he spoke, not mentioning the alcohol part, he didn’t think his partner would want anyone knowing about his issue with alcohol though really he was proud of him for overcoming it - it was something he should brag about. How many people managed to kick two addictions? Smoking and drinking…neither was easy, as many would say ,and yet Aloysius had gotten past both.
As René spoke, and asked questions, the blond was working with the espresso machine to make something for the other to drink. “The first time we met was rather…simple. He was already teaching and I was still in high school myself.” When he said it that way he knew how it could come off, the age difference between them. “I was there to see one of the little ones who lived in the orphanage with me, I was also there to walk home with her, she was too young to walk herself home. We didn’t even say much to each other that time. The next time was years later and he was unconscious on a park bench. I helped him home and I stayed, at first to make sure he was ok. Then it became more, rather quickly, I moved in rather quickly as well.”
While the machine worked Liam went to fetch himself something to drink, settling on orange juice, he leaned back against the counter and nodded slowly, laughing at the other's obvious dislike for the weather and magic in the city. “This city is wild, it keeps a person on their toes. As you said, you’ll find out first hand how bad this city can get. Now if mirrorspace decides to act up you’ll get to see even more. Because where you have the Negaverse, and all that includes, we have the space between mirrors…and it is sentient…to a point.” And it had tried to harm and kill them before. “There has been an occasion or two where it’s pulled people in who weren’t part of the court as well. It has power.”

“I guess that’s true though I really don’t know much about the dark mirror, I’m still working through the endless information about things in the Negaverse, and Aloysius’s notes were more than what you would expect from someone’s thesis.” Shaking his head, he wondered how they found that much time and still had such neat writing.
“Espresso would be good then, as long as you don’t burn it too much I don’t really mind since I just take it plain. It’s surprising that he gets the jitters from it, I figured he drank something like that to keep up with all the work he does.” He’d have to mark that off the list of things that Alexandre could get the other general.
Looking a bit closer at the blond he could tell they were younger but he was curious about just how young they were if they were in high school while the other was teaching college. The rest sounded like a bleeding heart situation that reminded him of how Alexandre had helped him though things and taken him to their home after he’d been hurt.
“I see, I guess things have worked out. I have my own place and a shop that I own as well so I only stay with Alexandre on weekends. I like having the option of going home to my place but everyone is different.” Part of him wondered why they’d been on a park bench but it wasn’t terribly important and he had a few ideas of why.
Watching the espresso machine go, it wasn’t too different from the one at Alexandre’s so it would be fine to do it’s own thing as the other drank. “Oh that sounds terrible, I already hate the youma. Such nasty things… But to hear that mirrors are haunted too… I’m going to have to make sure my petit ange stays close. But if things do get hectic, you can feel free to reach out to me or Alexandre if you need anything. I know you may not have had the best first impression with him but I can tell you really care about Aloysius and I figure it might stress him less if there are more people looking out for you?”
Pulling one of his business cards from inside his jacket pocket, he set it on the table closer to them and watched as the machine finished making his espresso. Hopefully, they’d accept his offer because it would do well to help his partner and maybe net him a few more allies to pull him out of trouble as well.

“I would say not a lot of people know much about the dark mirror court, but I think we like it that way. We don’t get ourselves involved in things really. If we do I feel it’s more individuals than a whole group of us. We’re…smaller in numbers - a lot smaller. It helps but it also means we can’t afford to make either side an enemy.” It meant they had to remain neutral for their own safety. Making either side an enemy would be a disaster for them.
“I was staying in a court members home since they had moved out, gotten a new place with their partner, so I could have stayed there but I’d rather stay here - close to Aloysius.” Because he’d been needed so much in the beginning, helping the other with his addictions. After that he’d just stayed because why not? They were already dating so what was the point in returning to his place? He had, along the way, moved his things into Aloysius’ home so he’d have had to bring it all right back to Rhona’s place and he didn’t care to do that.
“A think having a stable home, not something rented, appeals as well. Though I wasn’t renting before…it still wasn’t my roof.” Though this wasn’t his roof either - Aloysius owned the home but he also knew the taller male wasn’t going to be tossing him out any time soon. Setting the espresso down for the other, once he’d had it poured, he took a seat for himself as well. Looking over the business card he slipped it into a pocket then.
“I’ll keep that in mind. Aloysius would certainly approve of me being kept more safe, him and his sister actually. I think it’s the one thing they can agree on - keeping me safe.” Laughing he sipped from his drink and tilted his head a bit, fingers combing through golden blond hair. “They both need me for differing reasons. So knowing I’m safer would please them both.”

It sounded precarious but it wasn’t like he was going anyway or poking into other factions, he was as fine as he could be with things and Alexandre didn’t push him really which helped. “Oh, free place, sounds nice. I need to figure out my next place for when the lease runs out but I have some other things to manage before I can do that.” Things that had him up to his eyeballs in paperwork and red tape all thanks to how things worked.
To be honest he had been a bit looser on the weekend bit with Alexandre it was more like Thursday through Monday since he’d made it to super. “I don’t like to sit for too long in one place personally but Alexandre seems to have a similar opinion to you I think.” It was a bit awkward sharing the home with their cousin but he figured that if left to their own devices Alexandre would probably find something else they could furnish without having to worry about family.
Taking the cup of espresso as he watched them pocket the card, he took a cautious sip just in case and found that it wasn’t half bad. It was only a little burnt but otherwise, it was fine. So he finished it rather quickly. Grimacing at the mention of the other Sharp he waved that off. “Please for the love of god don’t tell her I was here. Also if you ever need any furniture restoration or things for this place I do run an antique shop here in the city.” Looking at his watch for a moment, he thought about the things he needed to do before getting over to Alexandre’s home.
“Thank you for the espresso and don’t be shy~ I need to get back to work and let Aloysius know I said hi. Tell Melody nothing.” Teasing at first and then wagging a finger as he mentioned the short Italian woman he hated. It was the only thing he really wished he could change Alexandre’s mind on because the fact she could show up while he was there bothered him. But Melody was apparently working for Alexandre’s family so it was unavoidable sometimes.

“I’m sure you’ll figure things out in time, before your lease runs out.” He spoke, sounding confident in this, he was certain if anything came up that Rene’s partner would help in some manner. He had money, power, and so did his family and things would get done. He’d heard from Aloysius that the other general came from money, a lot of it, and power. His partner had a reason to not want secrets spoken around the small blond…he wasn’t as innocent as he looked, though seeing him powered up and fighting had done enough to keep Liam from thinking the blond was innocent. At least they were all on the same side of things.
“I like to be busy but I like the comfort of a solid, stable, home.” Where he could do things, take care of things in the house, and he could go to the gym and not have to worry about things while he focused on his gym routine.
Bursting out laughing he nodded his head amidst the laughter. “No worries, I won’t tell her.” Waving his hand as he spoke. “I don’t know what happened between you two, I’m not sure I want to know, but I promise I won’t tell her.” And he wouldn’t, mostly because he didn’t see where it would ever come up. He would tell Aloysius, he would need to know since the notebooks would be here, but Melody had no need or even a reason to know.
“Alright, I’ll keep that in mind and I’ll talk to you again soon then.” He’d mention the furniture bit to Aloysius, perhaps some things in the house needed repair and Rene might be able to help with that. It was always nice to know people who might be able to help in certain areas, especially when you were previously clueless on how to handle those things.
