Zuella 1
It was a lovely spring day and absolutely everything was flowering in both of their home ranges. Matori it was the coastal shrubs and many of the trees and in Jauhar it was well there was a lot going on there all over. She loved this time of year she always felt vibrant and alive and full of hope to enjoy the warm seasons to come and not dread the far off sad of winter weather. Though they were fortunate not to get too much of that in either place.
She looked over the rocky shore of their new home that they had built and moved off of the beast ranch. It was a cliffy rocky cove with a surprisingly good mini beach just for them. She thought it suited them mightily but there was one more thing that it could use to make it feel like home.
“My love, what er, what think you of more children? I mean Thoraka is so grown up now and well, I think it would make this place feel more homey to have a little one around again.” She hummed at him.

He looked around at the new wood house with its cozy but spacious feel and the large yard with the beach as part and parcel. “You know I think you are right it needs that touch to make it just right. That sticky, jammy touch.” He grinned. “I guess we have permissions and some planning to do huh?” His heart began to race. More kids! This felt like birthday and a few festivals all rolled into one. “I’m so excited!” It had been what seemed like a long time and no time at all since he had held baby Thoraka for the first time. Kellye still remembered fondly when his son had swifter than most his age learnt to walk and then the race was on for the next five years until he developed brakes. They were still faulty sometimes. “Oh I can’t wait to see what personality they get that is always the best part.”
“That and getting to name them, perhaps they will be born on a stormy day like our last little lightning strike eh?” It was their beloved shared pet name for their son and his temper backed it up too. So spicey. Aisha knows where the punk got that from. Kellye was so proud.

“I expect so, I guess I will prepare the travel packs?” She would formulate her plan on the way there. It seemed to take forever that trek to Jauhar, it was in fact a long journey but they had taken ship to Oba so that had been fun and they had romanced each other the whole way there. She felt rejuvenated, and even more so as she was finally approaching where she had been born and where Thoraka had been born. She was so close she could almost feel the presence of the great mother. She smiled brightly a small shining sun herself in this moment and most moments actually. They came to a place to stay, a guest hut all of their own in one of the main cities on the mainland. It was there that she appealed to the acolytes because she had Kellye with her and the would have to meet him all over again. It was tradition. Besides it might be different acolytes so they stuck to it. It was better than doing this wrong. She didn’t know why she was so nervous, perhaps because she was so excited.

He was nervous and excited as well. At least this time they had been through it once, but it was still a bit stressful especially when you were the odd earthling out but what it gave back in return was a darn miracle, a part of him was very eager to be a part of magic again. Especially when it gave him such beautiful wonderful children. “We are here..ish finally.” Here they would ask the acolytes if Zuella would be able to approach the tree with her prayers. He presented himself but stayed a little back so that the foreign sisters could get a good look at him but he didn’t come too close so that he may not offend them. That would be disastrous in itself. It was a bit of an awkward time for him, he would be vastly outnumbered but he couldn’t help looking upon most alks with affection, so deep was his love for Zuella. Though he did note the ones who eyed him disprovingly. Not so bad but not the most comfortable feeling either. He looked out at their surroundings, it never hurt to scan around after all. It was a beautiful spot, kind of the gate way because you had to cross the water to chibale to get to the tree.

She waved at her sisters. The sisters that were the key to getting to where they wanted to go. “Hello, my name is Zuella, daughter of Aisha,” she listed her alk mother’s too. “This is Kellye, we are the parents of Thoraka and we have come to appeal to approach Aisha to pray please.” She bowed her head respectfully and awaited the barrage of questions that was sure to follow, who knew if it would be easier or harder the second time around, she just knew that the questions were usually hard and really made you think on the spot, she knew their goals values and strengths and weaknesses she had studied and had made up questions to ask herself in between chatting with her mate and working on her prayer on the long trek here.
Off into the gauntlet she went. The sister closest to her tilted her head, lips pursed.
“How did you two meet? Why did you fall in love with him? What is the trait or traits you are hoping to achieve by mixing his ice blood with our good mother Aisha?”

He was just out of hearing range but the alk that was talking to Zuella looked awfully serious. He was glad it wasn’t his time to get grilled at the moment. It was mostly about Zuella and what she thought and he understood why. He respected their traditions. He thought about how Thoraka had grown from a deterimined and wild youngling to a more thoughtful and respectful prentice with much guidance from himself and Zuella. They had managed to prune him and flare his creativity to the point where he was more balanced and less feisty..well so far as they saw now. Who knew how well it had actually worked BUT he was so proud of their son. He was already quite a bit taller than his Dad and well muscled from all of the tree climbing. He took to the trees like a proper aishan like it was flat ground not covered in slippery moss at all. It was how Kellye moved about his ship. Like he was one with it and they were dancing. He loved spending time with Thoraka even if he talked back occasionally. He wondered idly what they were saying over there. He had groomed himself to the nines for this, to show respect and his best side. Plus it made Zuella swoon and that was fun.

She took a deep breath, swallowed and cleared her throat, took a drink of water, opened her mouth and let all the joy from the first child with him shine through her very pores. “I could not have asked for a more patient and supportive father to our son who is a bit of a handful. I think he got a double dose of energy from us but he is shaping up into a fine young prentice and will one day be a fierce warrior like his mama before him. “We met in the outskirts of a jauharan jungle. He was ill and I took care of him, we fell naturally for each other after that.” She was used to this, she thought she remembered them asking before but nor did she recognize this particular lady.
“I fell in love with him because he let himself be utterly vulnerable around me even after he awoke in a strangers hut.” She let her eyes go misty as she remembered the abosolute sweetness in the early days of their relationship. “I fell in love with his strength of will, his strength of character and the fact that he worships me like a goddess is pretty good in my books.” She winked at the other alk. “Eh?” No? Well whatever. Ahh the more complicated question now. Hmm. “I hope our kids will get his cunning, courage and quick mind, I hope that the mixing of the blood gives the children the open mindedness afforded by a blended family. I hope that he will get his father’s excellent eye sight and my height and frame. I hope they get my sweetness and zest for life.”

The acolyte waved him over and asked him a few simple questions, none nearly as difficult as they probably put Zuella through, he told the lady that he had fallen in love with Zuella when she looked after him but it had taken them both a bit of time to admit their attraction for each other but to this day and the birth of their sun it and that remained the crowning moments of his life. He bowed his head when he was done and was asked to wait with Zuella while the acolyte deliberated with the other sisters present, he got the sense she was like their special case worker, perhaps a young acolyte learning the ropes and taking a pair that had already successfully prayed to Aisha. He anxiously held Zuella’s hand and he took comfort from the warm she radiated. There was a springtime chill to the air still, probably coming off the water from the far north.
A bird chirped nearby and he felt like he was going to shiver a part he was so very anxious, and there she stood like a supportive statue, awaiting the sisters judgement. She caught him looked at her and they winked at each other at the same time.

This time another sister came to ask a few more questions. She tilted her head and stared hard at Zuella.
"Why do you think Aisha should grant you a child?"
She held her head high as she replied,
"I think Mother Aisha should grant as a child because there would be no child more loved. And having a sibling would be good for my son. To have someone look up to him, (another same to him as so few are,) I think it would give him a good sense of responsibility and it would make him feel like he fit in, a concept that he is getting better with. He belongs with us, so too would this new child.
She knew of one other ice alk and he had done great things with his life and started a successful business.
"I want this." She met the other woman's eyes and let her see the intensity there. Let her see the soul deep longing. "Me and my mate both."

He was watching her body movements for clues to the outcome when her cute little wiggle told him that they had been approved. He took a deep breath of flower scented air, this was paradise. Everything seemed to be clearer, shinier, more defined. Now the next step was very choreographed, they would travel to the island. He wouldn't be allowed very far but that was okay, Aisha would see him in whatever mystical way she had. He would get as close as he was allowed, presumably so Aisha could steal his essence as she saw fit. If they met approval of the goddess herself, then they would get a lotus and they will be informed if it was successful at a later date when the tree formed a bloom for them. Just as had happened with Thoraka. Eventually they would go and collect their newborn and bring the baby home. He started to make preparations in his head for their trip. This was so wonderful. Thoraka would be pleased. They would head to one of the hybrid villages nearby to wait, it meant the poor sister who got to tell them the news didn't have to go too far.

She thanked the sisters for their time and got her permission to approach Aisha with her prepared prayer. She returned to Kellye and told him the good news, that they had permission to go on the next part of their baby quest.
As a hunter, she could not take her eyes off their next step. She felt exhilarated. They had a chance now. She was grateful the sisters again had seen the love that they had for each other and the soul deep bond that held them dear and always would. She loved this man with all of her being. And that they would be great parents again. She was proud of her family and she felt that well in her heart.
She went over and over her prayer until she had it refined down to something that she was very proud of. All she had to do now was take deep breaths. They made the trip, Kellye was stopped and she was allowed to approach to where Aisha could hear her prayer. This was it. She began and gave it her all.

He waited as patiently as possible while she was in her assembly with her beautiful mother goddess. Magic nature and beauty that was the essence of Aisha and of his Zuella. It complemented his own iceling heritage.
His whole life felt as though it was well in balance with the strength of their bond. And her support. He too prayed to his own gods. Aisha could not hear him, but hopefully the thought counted. Bergchi would hear him, though the god had no pull here except as a willing ear for him.
He very much wanted this to result in another child to love and to bring up in their beautiful way life. A love of nature and each other, of learning and helping and cooperating to support each other's dreams. Even Thoraka liked fishing, maybe not quite as much as tree climbing and gardening but he still loved it. That made Kellye happy, he would like to teach their next child to fish too, Zuella could teach them to garden and then they would sit back and watch the person they became. Nothing brightened his day more than hearing about his sons day.

Even though he had to stay behind, she felt the warmth of his spirit with her and his love. She took a deep breath and notedwhere she was supposed to pray. She cleared her throat began her prayer.
" My dearest mother Aisha, I have so much to tell you."
She was going to take her time here. It was well worth the effort. Aisha would know at the end of this just how much she wanted it.
"The years in between my visits have been full and fruitful. I feel that I have become a better woman for being a Mother. A better wife, a better Aishan."
She bowed her head.
"The son you gave us has turned into a wonderful young man. He has told us that he wants to become a storm summoner I really thought he would pick something to do with nature and I was right. We want to give him a sibling. Sit back mother and pour the tea. I have a lot to say, to detail, there are many highlights of the last few years. How they had grown closer as a family, how our love has grown even stronger. Kellye has proven to be a good and dedicated father as we lead our son through adolescense. I am afraid he is a young man now and we have not many more years before he sets out on his own. I wish not to be lonely and I think having a younger sibling would do him well. Kellye and I want another baby to love and care for and bring up as a well balanced child full of your love Aisha and that of Kellye's ancestors and gods. Nothing would make me more happy Mother then if you deem us worthy to raise another child in your image, im my image and in his, Kellye's image."
She detailed some of their adventures, and a lot of the happy moments they had enjoyed. She didn't leave out some of the struggles, every family had them but she did say how each of them had grown from the experience. She never felt closer to Aisha as she did in these moments.

He smiled as he thought about what she must be expounding on to her mother goddess. They had many memories together and it would take a while to unload it all. Because they loved Aisha and would want to give her very best he made himself as comfortable as he could. He kept his thoughts positive and full of good vibes.
Somewhere in the dark. A spark was a rising in the tree a pull from him and a pull from her mixing, a twisting and making whole. Though neither he nor Zuella could feel the subtle beautiful magic that started to weave.
This was just the start of the waiting upon returning home they would wait again to learn if their prayers had been successful. He hoped with every fiber of his being that they were tonight and then they he would again feel that shift of gravity that marked imminent parenthood. He loved his son so much and they had so much more love to give. Fatherhood was the greatest gift and he intended to get better at it.

Her prayer kept going, ending with "And that in conclusion portrays us as parents mother Aisha, I admire the strong love of nature and respect of different cultures in our family. He is a fantastic father and he helped me every step of the way. Please grant us a child or two should you like. She smiled bowed again and then left so the others could tend her. She was grateful for the experience. Her heart was full of love and she felt like they at least had a chance. She joined Kellye where he had been instructed to wait.. It was far enough away that it took a while to reach him. She looked tired but happy with her efforts.
"That's it and now we go to the hybrid village nearby to wait, Thoraka is there we can hug our son and wait. Though I assume he would like to be home with his friends soon enough. He might like the village though, there are many mixed families and we get a sense of community there."
