When the next morning came Alexandre was up, slowly, and going about his morning routine as silently as he could. He didn’t want to wake Rene, who honestly needed the sleep, as he went to take his morning run before showering when he got home. He’d washed his hair, it did need it, and toweling it dry as he shuffled out of the bathroom as silently as he could. The blond was hoping to get downstairs and make food for them both without disturbing the other.
The problem was the sight of Rene in bed, and how comfortable his bed looked, called to the blond like a ******** siren and he headed back to bed. Towel falling on the way as he slipped under the bedding planning to go back to sleep. It was while sliding under the covers that he spied the others neck and winced - that looked so painful and uncomfortable. The marks on his neck stood out far more now than they had the previous night, they’d had time to form, and they were dark.
“It looks so bad…” Whispered words as he reached over and ran his fingertips gently over the marks decorating the others skin.

René had been sleeping though as the morning went on he started to rouse a bit. When Alexandre got back into bed and touched the marks on his throat he had a small moment of panic and sat right up while grabbing the hand that had been touching him. Sighing once he realized it was just his partner he laid back down and let go of them. “Sorry, I'm a bit jumpy. How bad is it?” Rolling to his side he carefully pulled them close with his good arm and kept the one that was in a brace out of the way.
Noticing their hair was a bit wet, he figured they must have gone for their morning run and shower while he slept. “What time is it my petit ange?” He knew he wasn’t opening the shop or anything today but he still wanted to know where things stood. If he could today, he wanted to try looking into trying something to see if it might fix his magic as well. That and maybe push forward some of the healing on his arm.

Surprised at the other grabbing his hand, though he really shouldn’t be, the blond smiled softly. “I’m actually glad to see such a quick reaction. Don’t apologize.” A gentle kiss before he decided to just lay himself on top of the other, one leg bending at the knee and the other remaining straight, as he tucked his head up under the other's chin. “Don’t know…nine maybe?” He trailed off with a small shrug, unsure of the time, he knew he got up really early for his run and the shower he took. The run took time though…he enjoyed his morning runs, though he did prefer the evening ones.
“Just don’t move…be a good human pillow and let me go back to sleep….unless you need the bathroom. But then you’re coming right back.” Because he wanted to go back to sleep now that his morning run was over.

Moving back to his back as they laid on him he laughed a bit and pressed a kiss to the top of their head. “Okay, so it’s still early, at least not too much later than when I would normally be at work.” Running his hand down their back, he settled in to be a pillow for a bit longer as he thought over things. Part of him was itching to hop to it, to try and see if the notes Chalcanthite had provided him would work. The rest of him was still worried about things, even though the biggest doubt had been cleared up.
Looking down at the mess of ashen blonde hair, he curled his fingers around a lock of it. “As much as I would love to rest the day away, I want to look into something. You said starseeds can heal when you gave me one that night after you saved me. Chalcanthite’s notes mentioned that the use of one while in the kingdom could shock my starseed into balance with chaos… I’m nervous about it because you said they could be addictive, even though I really haven’t dealt with addictions before. But I want to try, with your help, to see if we can’t fix this together.”
Leaning his head back down to the bed, he stared up at the ceiling for a moment while running his fingers through their hair. His other wrist, still in the brace, ached and lay at his side and away so that it wouldn’t get hurt more. It had to work, right?

Pressing his lips to the others chest briefly he spoke gently, a yawn breaking through as he spoke. “Mmm, they can be. But you’d need to consume a lot of them for it to become an issue…or have a predisposition towards addiction. I’ve had starseeds in the past, a lot of them, I keep them in subspace just incase I wind up in a bad enough fight.” If they were easy to become addicted to he’d have had an issue a long time ago. “Think of it like drinking…or a drug, not one of those first time and hooked on it sort either.”
Of course he wasn’t surprised to hear the other general had notes, and information, on the topic. He seemed to be a fountain of knowledge where as Alexandre was good in a battle it was the other general who was good with the information proving. “We can do that though, yes, we can see if a starseed consumed down there will shock things back into balance for you. It would be good if it did, I’d feel better knowing your magic was stable.” Though he’d still rather someone be with the other, he didn’t like the idea of Rene being hurt.

So there was a tolerance level or something, that made some sense at least. The fact that this angel of his had consumed a lot of them made him worry because it meant they’d been hurt a lot and he knew part of it from all the scars. “At least now you have me and Lorcan to help make sure you don’t get hurt that bad. He thought it might be good for me to learn a bit of first aid so I can help a bit more maybe.” He liked that idea more than getting up close enough to fight others.
“I’d feel better about it too and not just because I keep heaving from my magic. I want to help you and not just feel useless out there…” With how his magic seemed to work, he figured it would also help just de-escalate things instead of them coming to blows. Who would fight while they felt like they were drained? It seemed like it would help overall if he could get it working right. We can go soon maybe? I know you want to rest but I want to try sooner rather than later. Even if it doesn’t work my arm should be healed up more right?” He poked their cheek a bit as he spoke, nudging them to try and see if they would agree with him.

“Mmm, it’s nice to have more people I’m close to involved, even if I’ll worry endlessly. But I like not having to hide things as much…or be as withdrawn.” From his family, from a relationship,. And keeping so many secrets. It was a lot and it hurt his relationships with people. It was nice to have some of that taken away, to not have to deal with it all as much. He had people he could go to. “Mmm, the two of you are likely to pull me away from fights I’d normally remain fighting.” Thus less injuries for either of them to deal with, less scars and less down time recovering.
“I didn’t know he offered lessons in first aid.” But it was a warming feeling knowing this, knowing Lorcan had offered and knowing Rene had accepted. To know he was cared for and had people watching him a bit more…to take care of him.
“I really don’t know what I did to find myself with someone so caring.” Musing aloud as he sat up, slowly, stretching as he sat on the others lap before slowly moving to sit next to him. “Alright, we can go and get this over with. Perhaps breakfast out afterwards? We can find a nice little cafe.” Because he was not making breakfast today if they were going out now. “I certainly wasn’t planning on dating ever again…and then you come along and what wasn’t supposed to be a relationship became that and more - where I brought you in and now you want to support me in a way no one has.” And maybe they hadn’t even been together a year but he was planning things…he’d gotten a house already, his grandmother funding it with family money, and it was being gone over and redecorated to his wants and needs. He’d sat down with people already to figure things out.
It was something he was ready for and he just hoped Rene would be as well, or at least by the time things were done.

Looking up at them as they sat up and started moving, Rene went to sit up as well and pulled his braced wrist to his lap as he stretched carefully. “I like learning new things here and there about you, especially when your mother lets more things slip.” Teasing softly as he poked the other’s cheek, he’d learned more than a little about the blond from their mother and even had a few older photos of them on his phone now. It was a stark difference, he could see in their eyes that the photos had been before they’d joined the Negaverse.
“I knew just a bit before, from handling my ankle or other things. I wasn’t the most… agile child. But Lorcan has been warming up a bit maybe… I think that he figured you might listen to me more than him. I feel like it also keeps some things off his plate.” It seemed like it might be true when it came down to it anyway.
“I can say the same thing though, a chance meeting in the museum and all the things you did to help me even before I thanked you so strongly~ Not that there weren’t hiccups and there may be more in the future but I think it’ll be alright. Maybe you could learn to be a bit more laid back on things like I am sometimes.” It was easier than stressing over everything, keeping things as unserious as he could, and floating through doing as he pleased.
Sliding off the bed, he went to get some semblance of clothing on with a little bit of trouble. Even if they’d be replaced by his uniform when it came down to it, it would be better to just get dressed now if they wanted to go to a cafe before coming back home. “A cafe sounds good, maybe that French one we order at my shop once a week?”

“My mother considers you family, if I’m bringing you to something so personal and intimate as Easter, then you are as good as family.” So she was treating his partner as such, which included texts from his mother. He was wondering when she’d come to his shop with food, or invite him out to meals, he knew it would come sooner rather than later. Other members would as well, of that he had no doubt, he also knew those who were from France originally would be seeking Rene out if they hadn’t already. His family would. Without a doubt, embrace the other and bring him right into the fold. “My mother likes you.” Though he had no idea she’d been sending pictures to Rene, including graduation pictures and ones from before he’d joined the Negaverse….baby pictures and ones as a toddler…preteen photos and more. His mother likes to share - a lot. He was her only child after all.
“I would agree with both those ideas, it would help him and allow Lorcan to focus a bit more on himself, and his own things, but I would likely listen more to you. My cousin is my cousin and not my partner who I spend a lot of time with. I do listen to Lorcan a lot though - we’re close in age and grew up together.” They’d spent a lot of time together growing up, some photos of them together had gotten sent to Rene by his mother of course.
“I think you are right, there will be hiccups in the future, but that’s normal for relationships. They won’t be as bad though, because we’re together and because there aren’t so many secrets. If we keep communication open, as it should be, we’ll be good. I’ll no doubt pick up some habits from you - like taking it easier.” Which would be nice, especially once they had their own home, he could relax more and settle down as much as possible.
Climbing out of bed he went to find some clothing for himself as well. It wasn’t anything too over the top, casual by his standards, and started to dress as he considered Rene’s words. “That sounds good, they do have some good breakfast foods. I’d be ok with that.”

It had been nice even if it was a bit of a culture shock for him. To see a family actually being pleasant at a gathering had been a rarity. There was food, games, and all sorts of casual things. Nothing like what he’d been used to and even if he felt a bit out of place it hadn’t been for long. “Oh, she does? I couldn’t tell.” It had been easy to talk with her even after the gathering so he knew but it was still nice to hear it from Alexandre.
“He’s pretty smart, but too stiff for my liking overall. It almost makes me want to mess with him, maybe move things in his office over by an inch or two one time. Nothing serious but I just want to poke people who are so stiff. He needs to loosen up but I guess he’s good at medicine because of how much of a stickler he is.” Looking down at the brace on his wrist, he rotated it slightly but didn’t move his fingers. They’d said something about not doing that and he wanted to itch it so badly.
Calling out for Katya, because he knew she’d be needed if they were going to power up and head out, he hoped he wasn’t interrupting the mauvian from her reading. She was still looking through some books he’d given her from his shop most likely, something he’d hoped would keep her happy and busy as an apology for the trouble he tended to get her into when she came along with him on patrol.

Rolling his eyes at the others comment he huffed. “He’d notice if you moved things over, even a bit, he is rather meticulous like that.” Though he knew there were plushies now in the other's home, he’d been trying to loosen his cousin up a bit. They even kept the orchid he’d given him - hadn’t pawned it off on a secretary or someone else. “Lorcan has always been like that.” Even when they were children, and teenagers later on, it was like they were opposites in a sense. He was serious, not typically one to give into his emotions, but he wasn’t nearly as serious as Lorcan. Not to mention he did act on emotions more when he did have them, when they were strong enough.
“At Least you and Lorcan can play chess together.” So they got to talk, and bond in some way, together over the matches which he just watched some of the times he’d even doze off a bit. Chess was boring, and it wasn’t something he was good at, he knew the basics and a bit more but that was really it. He was nowhere near the level of Rene and Lorcan.
Hearing him call out for Katya he wasn’t surprised when he heard her call back, confirming she’d cover their signatures and wishing them well. “Did you want her to join us Rene?” Questioning as he stepped out of his closet fully dressed.

“All the more reason to bother him just a bit, though I won’t do anything to piss him off that much. Just a bit of fun and then of course chess. It goes back and forth and we manage to tie more often than not. He does s**t-talk you a bit when we play, I guess because you don’t play much or do as well. It fits him though, that he plays chess. I learned because of family but he seems to be the type that learned for fun, if you can call it that.” It was fun in a way for him, the back and forth of it and the questioning and conversation he had with the serious cousin. Though at times he got stonewalled when he went into certain topics.
“I would like her to come along, since we don’t have to go where the youma are she’ll be safe right? I figure since I’ve had her coming along with me as an accomplice of sorts until you found out it would make sense that she would be there when we get my magic fixed, no?”

“He did learn for fun, we aren’t forced to take up hobbies we don’t want to, it’s all open to us to choose what we want to get into. Lorcan likes chess and has stuck with it. Some of us can ride horses, some knowing just the basics like myself and others knowing more, others like fencing or dance..chess like Lorcan and your other usual sports. I have a family member who plays polo even.” It was diverse but they had the money to afford such hobbies and trainers, instructors, and whatever else was needed. They were allowed to learn things they wanted and walk away when they wanted. It meant that the things they did was because they wanted to, and that they did what they wanted because money was no issue. It wasn’t like they got everything they wanted for free though. They still had to finish school, and university, and take up jobs and contribute to society and to the family - so others in the family could enjoy things like they had.
“I’m not surprised he s**t talks me, Lorcan has a sense of humor…just not the same as most people do. You’ll find friends with other family members who you can enjoy things with, I’m sure of that, though I am glad you two get on well.” Because he and Lorcan had always been close, though the last several years he’d been distant, he was glad to close up that distance and spend time with his family again.
Before Alexandre could even speak up the russian blue made her own appearance, having given up reading, she had heard the conversation going on and decided to join in on things. “I would be delighted in joining you both, seeing as we won’t be in the domain of the youma. Would you mind carrying me Rene? I’d rather not try and keep up with you both - especially you with those long legs.” Because if Alexandre had a hard time keeping up with Rene than she would have an impossible time.

Pulling his pen from the nightstand, he reached down for Katya to climb up his arm as his uniform melted over his clothing. That long hair was a pain but at least he could cut it off if he needed to. “Of course, it’s easier that way anyway.” After that, he moved in close to Alexandre again. “Sounds like a lot of what I saw back home with other families. You took up painting I would guess based on things.”
He’d gotten to see their work more often now, especially when Fiona brought something over to work on with them. She was still warming up to him, more directing conversations to her cousin than him. It made sense in a way but he did admire her work as well just as he could appreciate Lorcan’s skills and work. “There certainly are a lot of blondes I could befriend at gatherings but I know which one I’ll be following home.” Pressing a kiss to the top of their head as he spoke, he couldn’t help but smile.

“I did, as did Fiona, though I can saddle and ride a horse as well. I’m not going to go galloping off on one, or ask to own my own, but I can at least ride on one if I wanted.” Because they did have spots in a stable with a horse or two housed in them. If he ever got asked, for whatever odd reason, to go with someone to ride he could do so and at least not fall on his face. The only issue would be getting into the saddle, given his height. But there were ways to work with it, he knew that as well.
“She went into restoration while I went into teaching and found I disliked it…only took a school year to decide that. Hudson still works in the same school but as a gym teacher.” Laughing he couldn’t help it, he knew his family looked a lot alike in that regard, he was even surprised no one whispered about inbreeding with them really. “We can’t really help falling for what we’ve all grown up around. I suppose it’s just what we have always found comfort and love with so we associate.” Shrugging a bit as he figured it was the best explanation really, as good as any really. There was no solid answer though, and he knew it.
“If it’s because we’re trying to scare people, or breed recessive genes into dominate genes I wouldn’t know about it.” Because the main features most of the family had were recessive but for them it wasn’t so much…because it just happen to be what they brought into the family most often. Some might even think the family was trying to resemble some nordic country where blue eyes, and even blond hair, were really common amongst the population. But as far as he knew neither answer was correct. So he was as lost as he figured everyone else was. It just was.
Rolling her eyes at the two Katya perched up on Rene’s shoulders, draping herself there, she watched him power up and finally her blond general stood there also powered up. “Alright, let’s go.” She spoke, tail flicking and hitting Rene, she really didn’t need to see these two flirting more…because she was certain this was flirting of some sort.
