Granted, it wasn’t as though the pain that had shot through her starseed a couple weeks ago meant that things had changed much in a practical sense about energy-gathering. Considering how some people (who sucked and were traitors to the entire Court) didn’t even do their single most important job when they had still been Mirror senshi, she’d probably spent longer than she knew picking up the slack for Muri and his sparkly-eyed blah-blah-blah about “Weh, the people who donate energy to the Mirror didn’t consent to that, weh, I’m tall and gay and I think I’m right about everything” or whatever he went on about.
Still, it never hurt to be proactive, and so, Lete had set herself up in a park around the university campus. Instead of camping out with a book while she sent her wraiths out—which had gotten her into trouble a few too many times—she’d taken to meandering around, past the assorted benches, playground equipment, trashcans, decorative statues, and so on. The wraiths she sent out always knew where to find her, and staying on the move meant that there’d be less of a chance for too many people to show signs of energy-draining all at once. Honestly, it was kind of a vibe, taking a nice walk, all alone until her Mirrorwraiths came back to her. No White Moon nonsense-causers to bother her.
—Until something with a White Moon aura crashed into her back.
Completely taken by surprise, Lete toppled forward with a shriek. Thankfully, she protected her mirrorshard, so it didn’t break, but the fall still hurt.
“Hey,” she snapped, looking back as far as she could and trying to see who’d knocked her over. “What gives!”
