Antisana was fortunate enough to at least have known where his code piece was at because he’d actually seen it even if he hadn’t resonated with it yet, for that she envied him a bit.
Without any prior knowledge of her Wonder, Maya faced a sizeable uncertainty not only about how long it might take to locate the code piece but also about where to even start looking. If she had visited at least once before, then she might have some clues or starting points. However, the lack of previous exploration meant that they’d be forced to start their search from scratch. This situation made the final task not only more daunting but also unpredictable, which added a layer of complexity to their already challenging mission.
For the time being, there wasn’t really much she could do to prepare other than show up at their meeting place early with some sandwiches stowed away in her subspace pocket in the event it took longer to find her code piece than it did Meninx.
As they gathered at the designated meeting point, Maya greeted each of them with a joy-filled expression. “I appreciate you both comin’,” she said warmly, her smile wide and genuine.
There had been a nagging worry in the back of her mind that due to the unpredictable nature of this last Wonder visit, one or both might find a reason to back out due to an unexpected commitment or a sudden change of plans. Yet here they were, present and accounted for, which left her feeling pleasantly surprised and relieved that she wouldn’t have to set upon this task alone.
Just as both of them had done previously, Maya recited the Oath to her Wonder before the three of them were teleported to the place on Ganymede where the faint calling had pulled her to.
Concrete, street lights and city sounds were replaced by a stone pathways, and unlit lanterns that hung along the path.
“A garden…” Maya commented quietly to herself.
At least that’s perhaps what it had been at one point. Now-
Hedges were overgrown, trees had fallen over and were in various stages of decay. Benches for resting, or chatting idly among friends, were broken. It looked more like a forest than a place that had likely once been used for lavish entertainment space for the wealthy, where nature had taken over in her absence and moss now grew on rocks and vines wrapped around the lantern poles.
Maya blinked, and for the briefest of moments she saw the space for what it once was. Beautiful, with plants intentionally arranged off the path for a lovely stroll, the clean air smells with a hint of floral notes and a splash of color to draw visitors' attention to something rare, and beautiful, and perhaps unseen by many.
But in the next breath, the sight she saw was gone and all was dark, unruly; a place that landscapers would definitely think twice before offering a bid to clean up what had become of her wonder.
