Truth or Dare

Truth or Dare has always been a fun and thrilling game that a youngling experienced as they grew up. But even adults may find themselves challenged to tell a secret or take on a dare. Which one will you pick, and how does it all play out?
[ Play out this prompt response by your character responding to a truth or a dare. If you're playing with another character, both will need to respond to their own individual challenge. If this is a solo, play out the response as if challenged by an NPC. ]

 xaawopost one"Alinare." Easy. Xaawo had loved the creatures since childhood, but now that she was being made to recall them, she wasn't quite sure they existed anywhere else. "They are most similar to mice with gems on their backs." She settled in her seat, sinking into a very comfortable cushion. If she ever decided to settle down and obtain proper furniture, one of these chairs would be a must.
"Your turn. Truth or dare?"

 howthpost oneThis game had never been a staple of his youth, not because he hadn't wanted to play, but because he hadn't had many friends. Now that he had been invited to partake, he wondered why he had ever wasted his jealousy on those who had.
Howth sighed, exhausted by their haste to reach Tinerr and catch an airship. They'd missed the last one tonight, but he and Xaawo already had tickets for the first one leaving in the morning.
"Truth, I suppose." He didn't think he'd ever be ready for a dare, but he wasn't going to admit that just yet.

His history with singing wasn't an embarrassing secret or anything, Howth just honestly could not recall when he had last seriously done so.
"I'm not sure."
He cast his thoughts into the past, trying to remember an occasion both grand and private enough to demand a song. When it finally came to him, he sat up suddenly, his finger jutting out aimlessly into the space in front of him.
"I sang for my mother on her birthday before I left home. About six years ago now." Question answered, he added, "Truth or dare?"

He knew that even though he was avoiding it, he would have to return home at some point, especially now that they were returning to Belrea. This was a convenient way to ask if she wished to accompany him, that was all.

xaawopost fourHer response was immediate but silent, and she continued to keep it to herself while she pretended to formulate an answer. Meeting his family would be effortless compared to him meeting hers, even though she wanted that as well.
"I would not be opposed. It would be fun to meet this mysterious sister of yours and find out if all of the women in your family have turned out more spirited than the men." She chuckled. It wasn't meant to be a slight, but if Howth's sister had taken after his mother, their home must have been a lively place these past few years.
"Truth or dare."

"All right..." She reached deep into her imaginative well, trying to think of a question that could be a logical jump from the last one, instead of what she actually wanted to ask. When something good enough came to her, Xaawo smiled.
"How do you feel about morackers and would you consider getting one?"

howthpost fiveHe smirked, faintly shaking his head. "That's two questions, but I'll let it slide." Howth turned, watching their poscuta nap for a handful of breaths. He knew that Xaawo was at least partially teasing, but he still felt the need to put some thought behind his answer.
"I don't feel one way or another about them, but that's not a bad thing necessarily. I just haven't had the pleasure of knowing any. As far as getting one?" He tilted his head. "As long as Jasla gets along with it, sure."
"Truth or dare." Despite never having played, Howth knew this game could turn from innocent to dangerous in an instant. Best to stick with truths for as long as he could.

howthpost sixReaching out to the small table to his left, Howth picked up his drink and took a sip. It was warm and flavorful, not unlike his cup of carnival hot chocolate if it had an altogether different flavor. He paused, savoring the taste.
"Why are you still traveling with me?"

xaawopost sevenNow that hardly deserved an answer. Was he afraid that she might slip off into the night without warning after all this time? She was here now, and she would remain until she announced otherwise, as always. And anyway... she had no desire to go anywhere.
Xaawo wanted to be truthful, but whatever the truth truly was she did not know, or at least some part of her was unwilling to voice. So, she joked.
"Because I like you." She scoffed, an amused but exasperated huff. "Truth or dare."
